Poor quality of stream reception with iTunes 12

I have a playlist containing url streams for most of the channels from Swedish Radio. I have been using it for years. After the update to iTunes 12 these streams are more or less useless. When selecting and starting a stream I usually get a laud buzz. After some jumps between channels I can connect to the stream and hear something. But I still hear a faint buzz fading in and out depending on the sound level. This behavior is also true connecting to these streams with Safari.
Am I the only one experiencing this? Tas anyone a suggestion on what to do?

I also believe it's the firmware.
I've had my N95 for little over a week, and I've taken about 100 pictures of my car with it (crazy paint so trying to capture the true effect is hard). It came with version 10.xx.xx of the firmware
Of these 100 or so (108 to be precise) which seemed picture perfect (no pun intended) on the screen, approximately 80 of them were either overexposed or out of focus, despite predominantly having green brackets.
I've just updated my firmware to version 12.xx.xx and initial results seem very positive, the camera seems much more effective and focussing seems much better after 5 quick snaps.
Another thing to bear in mind, which I've read quite a lot of times (not only here I hasten to add), that updating the firmware doesn't work the first time, and people have had to reinstall it several times before getting the desired operation.
I was reluctant to update mine as it was locked to orange, but the phone was becoming increasingly "crashy" with resets being needed 3 or 4 times a day, calls being dropped and the phone crashing mid-call, and various lock ups when navigating the menu systems. I decided that I'd rather risk a potential nulling of the warranty and have a phone that worked better and so unlocked the phone myself (brilliant, easy and takes no more than 5 minutes I might add!) and I'm now on the latest firmware. Seems great so far but I've got copies of previous versions should they be required.
Anyway I digress, the firmware seems to have given a marked improvement in the cameras performance, but I'll continue my snapping through the day to confirm this and get back to you with my results.Message Edited by skyline_stu on 04-Aug-200705:20 AM

  • Poor quality Export for HD with moving objects

When I export from iMovie6 any moving image is very poor quality. I am using a Sony HDR-HC1 and trying to export at the highest possible settings.
When the image is still the quality is very good, but if anything moves the image goes "wobbly" and "jigsaw" like. Panning shots are hopeless and anyone walking in the shot goes wobbly.
The original capture image seems fine, so I assume it is an exporting problem. Exporting at lower setting, ie for an iPod, the image is great.
I have tried all different setting, some are better than others.
    Can anyone help?

Your description of the problem - a 'comb' effect - sounds as if the "fields" which make up the resultant picture have been put together in reverse.
(..You don't normally see 'interlaced' video in iMovie's playback window - you normally see just a single field of the two, to make the picture clearer and simpler to display..)
[..A video picture's generally made up of two "fields" which each comprise half the number of lines down the screen: one field comprises the odd-numbered lines, and the other the even-numbered ones. Your exported video should be encoded with the lower (2nd) field first ..as described in this Apple document ..and the problem's mentioned here as well..]
However ..you said in your first post that "..I am using a Sony HDR-HC1 and trying to export at the highest possible settings.."
This is an HDV camcorder, and you didn't say if the original footage which you shot was HDV or normal DV. (HDV is recorded differently from normal DV, as it's recorded in a more compressed format, and it has to be automatically 'unscrambled' by Apple's Intermediate Codec while you're importing it into iMovie HD.)
It seems as if somewhere along the chain of importing>editing>exporting, the fields are being reversed, so that you get this jumpiness on replay when QuickTime tries to deliver a "highest quality" interleaved replay of both fields:
Ah ..sudden thought: you mentioned that you exported thro' iDVD: "..I have used iDVD by dropping it into a DVD theme and it seems to work ok, although the playback is a little jumpy, not quite as good I would have expected.."
You may have left the iDVD settings at their default 'NTSC' instead of switching them to PAL.
Check your iDVD Preferences ..that may be the problem.

  • Streaming music with Itunes?

How to create a web-show with Itunes?
    1. The music I want to broadcast is 100% free (music made at home by me and by a community of artist from Europe and America)
    2. How to configure ITunes to broadcast thru the web?
    3. Do I need a 'server' like shoutcast or something like?
    4. How to allow users to connect to my show?
    Any help is higly appreciated!
    Thanx.

Shoutcast or Live365.com are great resources for homemade streaming. iTunes will not "broadcast" to the web, you need to have some kind of server driving the process.

  • Very poor quality on photos made with iphone 4

Since a few weeks i've noticed that photos made with my iPhone 4 have a very poor quality. I've upgraded to IOS 4.3.2 thinking about a software problem, but the quality is still very poor. It´s like out of focus. I submit a just made photo. Any answer? Thanks a lot.
This photo is made with original photo app and no zoom.

Only thing I can think of is a focus problem (which could be software) or a lens with some junk on it that causes some blurring.
Can't offer a solution but can make some suggestions.
Take  different types of pictures and, just for variety in case it reveals something, take two of each - one touching the screen and then one after touching for comparison.
Do close-ups and distance shots.  Do indoor and outdoor, with and without flash on the indoor - again, of the same thing so you can compare.
Might reveal a pattern.  If all are bad, then it probably goes back to the lense or software not working.
If some come out fine, it would seem to reduce the chance of it being the lens being dirty or something.  On the other hand, if close up shots look good but distant ones don't, it could be either software or the internal focusing hardware isn't adjusting enough for distant shots.
    Just some things to consider.

  • Poor Quality of PDF pages with Folio Builder

    Hi,
New to DPS. First impressions are very good.
However, when adding an Indesign page to Folio Builder as an article with the format set to PDF(to enble pinch and expand on iPad), the tiff images that are included in the Indesign page are displayed in very poor quality??
When I change the format to PNG or JPEG, in the article, the same images are displayed on the iPad with excellent quality - however, I dont have the pinch and expand functionality, which is what I require!!
I would really appreciate any solutions or suggestions on how this issue can be resolved.
Indesign CS5.5, MAC OSX 10.7, iMac
    Regards,
                 Iain....

Which iPad are you viewing your test articles on? Remember that the resolution for iPad 1 & 2 is 1024px x 768 px, while the iPad 3 resolution is 2048px x 1536px. Your images need to be formatted accordingly. Also check your image scale parameters. Anything above 100% scale of the original image will reduce the image quality. You can check this in InDesign before you ever test your article on the device. Simply press Command+1 to view actual pixel size and set your Display Performance to High Quality and you should be seeing something very close to what the final result will be. Also check that your images are RGB as well. Hope this helps.

  • No audio streaming movies with iTunes 10.2.1 and iOS 4.3

I upgrade to iTunes 10.2.1 and to iOS 4.3 and now I can´t listen audio on my movies with 6 channels audio. With two channels (stereo) there is no problem. With multichannel I just can see the video, but can´t listen. The problem is with my iPad and my Apple TV. On my iMac it works fine, I can see and listen.
    Anybody Help ??

I have the similar problem with video. I can not stream movies to apple tv after ios 4.3 update that i used to stream before. The problem seems to be for some (but a lot) specific movies though. After going through all my videos i found a couple of videos that was able yo be streamed. Even with movies that can't be streamed the video loads (and even plays on fast forward but very slow without audio) but just pauses. It just loads opens and everything but just doesn't play.I don't have any problem with streaming audio from ipod or etc. I can still stream video from youtube as well but just can't do it from my itunes.
Just to be specific, i have the issue with my ipad as well. The movies that i can stream to atv can be streamed to ipad as well (from my pc windows) but for other movies neither my atv nor ipad can play. A clear **** up by the developers. Just can't understand how they can release without even checking possible flaws.

  • Apple TV streaming problems with itunes

Apple TV streaming problems. Since recent last update to AppleTV when I try to streams movie or tv show from iTunes sometimes it is fine sometimes it takes hours (Hd or Sd). No problem with netflix. Wifi is not super strong in location but this was not a problem at all before update. Any suggestions?
    Paul

    ok.
this is not a solution to your problem, but you didn't need to do that just to remove it from appletv. you could have simply unticked the item in your library and that would have made it not available to appletv. you could also have amended your sync options. you don't need to delete something from your library just to remove it from appletv.
however back to your problem. it sounds like the appletv is not syncing the changes to your library. you should restart your appletv and see if that forces the change.

  • Poor Quality in iMovie 09 with Stills

I've read through many posts and found some solutions, but the question to begs to ask: Why, when doing a movie with pics from iPhoto, is the final output quality so freaking poor?
My pics are upwards of 9MB apiece originally. I realize they get compressed through the process. I can do a 15 minute video on a DVD, and iDVD burns it to about a third of the disk. Why can't the program (either iMovie or iDVD) calculate the pics and only compress to a certain extent?
When I play a finished product on my Mac, it looks pretty good. But when I convert it through iDVD and burn it to a DVD disc, the output on my HD (yes, I realize THAT'S part of the issue) looks horrible. Aliasing is ridiculous.
I tend to save the files to the highest output and put it on my media player. However, when I want to share the final result with friends on DVD, I'm slightly embarrassed. The quality is just too poor.
I'm open for any input. I realize you can't burn high def to a DVD, but surely there's a better solution. Maybe iMovie 11?
    Thanks in advance.

I make slideshow movies using still photos exclusively. Here is the process I use when I want to make a DVD from an iMovie project.
In iMovie I set the ratio to 16:9 and I also crop many of the photos in iPhoto to 16x9 (HD) - this works best for pictures in landscape; it's not good for portrait photos. Also, cropping this way doesn't work for all landscape photos either: sometimes I lose details that make the photo 'good' and so just leave it uncropped.
When the project is finished I choose Share>Export using QuickTime and click "options". In "options" I use the following:
    Compression: H.264
    Quality: Best
    Frame rate: 29.97
    Frame reordering: yes
    Encoding mode: multi-pass
    Dimensions: 1920x1080 (HD)
    Scale: Letterbox
I use either iDVD or Roxio Toast to create a DVD.
The issue of the quality of DVDs made from iMovie projects has often been discussed in this forum. The process and settings I use may not be strictly kosher, but I do get good quality DVDs this way and so I stick with them. My projects are usually between 20 to 30 minutes in length.
    I hope this helps.
    (I haven't tried iMovie 11 yet.)

  • [solution inside] Poor quality of DVD created with iDVD '08 (jerky movie)

    Hi everyone !
I have a problem with the export of iDVD, the result is jerky.
    Here's what I done
    - filmed (cam sony 42E, DV)
    - imported to iMovie '08, exported to the media navigator
    - taken in iDVD and burned on a DVD simple layer in professional quality
And it looks like the movie is 15 images/s (but apparently no problem of sound)
I checked everything's in PAL (I'm in Europe)
    I checked with another DVD
    I checked the large selection in the navigator (720 * 540, H.264, 25 fps, 4Mbps)
    I tried with "best performances"
    I tried to cut the movie : 72 min -> 35 minutes
I exported just an image disc
    Nothing fixed the problem
Finally, I exported from iMovie in .dv then integrated the file in iDVD and, this time the result was the same as in the preview (thanks to SkyDrinker for the tip)
So this is a solution, but this is strange :
or my iLife is corrupted, or the way Apple say to work (with conversion in h.264) is not good.
Did anyone else had the same problem ?
    Thank you for your feedback.
    Take care!

I had the same problem with jerky pans and dancing pixels particularly when using Ken Burns on stills.
Here is a solution. Save the 08 movies in Quicktime using AIC encoding then burn using Toast 8 with the quality slider set to best. The improvement in quality is substantial.
There is some improvement(not as much as using Toast) using Quicktime AIC encoding then burning with iDVD with Professional Quality and dual layered DVDs just to make sure the quality indicator is well into the green.
The disadvantage in using Toast as compared to iDVD is that the cool menus are lost.
PS: All my burning is done using NTCS but it should not make a difference.

  • Why such poor quality saturation and contrast with NEFs?

Having used Lightroom since the beginning, I'm at my wits end.
Ever since Lightroom 1, I've noticed that ACR does a really -really, bad job handeling NEFs when you push contrast and saturation, especially in regards to certain colors (reds, yellows, and blues).
I thought for a long time it was my side, originally using a consumer DSLR (D50), but it affects every NEF I've ever imported, from any Nikon body up to D4.
The saturation gets chunky with little effort (even after attempting to correct via the Calibration panel), the same when pushing contrast. Not pushing it beyond the files' limits, just a simple s-curve.
When importing other RAW formats, this is less often the case.
It's really frustrating to be able to rely on Lightroom doing and adequate job 75% of the time, and it makes me look bad in front of clients.
Has/ does anyone else run into this? Does anyone have any ideas, or tips as to avoiding this?
I really hate the UI of C1, but since it has started implementing cataloging I am getting more and more enticed to switch over completely, as even when I push things waaay too contrasty or overly saturated the results are still miles better.
I'm an unabashed Adobe fanboy with fond memories of the introduction of Levels (Oooooo) back in the day, but I'm feeling I've been pushed to a point where I have to default to whatever program does a better job handeling RAW info, and ACR is not cutting it at a professional level.

Well, I don't know how to explain it any better, I feel I put it pretty straight forward, however here's an example from a small lookbook. The red is not accurate, everything else is.
The only thing I've ever come up with is possibly some 'Out of Gamut Warning' option that I haven't found to disable, twenty_one. However, no, I do know Lightroom VERY well, just not 100%, maybe 95%. When Soft proofing for monitor, all colors in the example are within gamut in sRGB, AdobeRGB, and my calibrated monitor color space.
I've almost exclusively run into this with NEFs, I've used Lightroom with Canon, PhaseOne backs, Leaf backs, Fujis, and more. Oh, and I am a pro, and have worked a wide range of clients from Harper's, Elle, and BEBE, to RED, Playboy and more -not to toot my horn, but to establish I'm not a green.
I'm on Lightroom 5, current build.
Typically I stay with the Adobe Standard Profile or Portrait, but none seem to help this particular issue.
Not sure what sort of NEFs Nikon produced in '76, but I to have been with Adobe since Photoshop 2. I'm viewing on a calibrated monitor in good viewing conditions. I don't print, this is most commonly an issue with lookbooks and catalogs when they need perfect color, the issue remains when viewed on other monitors. I've also tested images on my studio's Eizo CG276 and run into nealry exactly the same results (nearly in that there are pixels of difference, however it's a different size than my normal editing monitor).

  • Premiere-CC Poor Quality Logos on export with Hardware Acceleration.

This is an old and new issue.
Have an XDCam-HD preset Sequence.  XDcam footage is green screen, layer below is a white background.  Layer above keyed footage is an imported PSD with 2 logos on same layer with transparancy.
Sequence settings:  MRQ and MRB are checked, and composite in linear color is unchecked.
Playback resolution and Paused resolution both set to full.
Using Cuda acceleration in project settings, and all hardware accelerated FX, program plays back perfectly and looks excellent.
Problem:  While Cuda acceleration is enabled, when the playhead is paused, or stopped, logos look terrible.  The alpha looks like it has noise in it.  However, when you hit play, everything looks good.
Supers created in the Titler are not affected and look fine.
If you render the seqence for preview, logos render with terrible result, as if paused.  Also, on export you get the same bad looking logos.
If you disable hardware acceleration, all is well.
    Any thoughts?

If you care to upload the PSD, I can check it on my end.

  • Why the extremely poor sound quality in playback with itunes?

I am having problems with the sound quality of itunes music. this applies to both downloads and cd's. This problem is new, I believe, and affects bluetooth speaker, earphones, and macbook pro internal speaker. All have extremely poor playback with itunes. This Problem does not happen with playback of youtube videos.
