Poor quality printing with quick books remote

I just started using the HP 8610 and now the print quality is poor when remote printing from quick books. It was perfectly fine wiht my OLD OLD HP 1200. checked with remote printing company and they have not helped. Any clues?

I have the same problem when using Logmein with my new 8610.   Printing text heavy statements from remote computers that look fine on the screen, come out with fuzzy pics and pixelated words.   This was also never a problem with our old 7510.

  • Poor quality printing

About a year ago I remember seeing frequent complaints about the poor quality printing in photo books.
Is anyone else still having problems? I just recieved 2 books and I am just unimpressed (and quite disappointed) with the print quality.
One is a duplicate of a book I had printed through My Publisher last year and there is a night and day difference. The My Publisher book looks far superior.
I was having difficulty with My Publisher so I decided to give Apple's service a try.
I'm shooting with an 8mp dSLR camera (Canon) so I should have no issue with 8x10 prints. My scanned images were all at 300dpi.
Many of the photos in the book I've had printed locally and there is a big quality difference.
Is anyone seeing this problem or did I just get unlucky?
    THANKS!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The Apple book cannot compete with your printing of the photos or pages on your own inkjet printer or thru a photofinisher. It uses a different type of printer. The current books (all sizes) are printed at 300 dpi. Here's what Apple send me regarding the books printing and material quality:
I contacted Apple and asked for information that I could pass on. Here's the reply I received from Apple:
"Thank you for contacting the Apple Print Products Customer Service.
I understand that you would like to know the printing process that is used and the color mode the files should be in, so you can better advise users in the iPhoto forum.
iPhoto version 4 or later, allows you to import and print files through the Apple Print Product service as RGB, grayscale, or CMYK color space. JPEG files with RGB color space are recommended for best results.
While iPhoto 2 can import files of various formats, including RGB color, grayscale, and CMYK, this version requires JPEG files with RGB color space when printing photos and books.

Here are some of the technical specifications for the books, cards, and calendars. I hope this gives you an idea about their quality and form.
    BOOKS
All iPhoto books are printed using acid-free paper for long-lasting image quality. The photos are printed at a high resolution (300DPI if you use iPhoto 6). There is no external modification--such as sharpening or contrast adjustment--of the photos; what you see in the application is what is printed in the book.
    Hardcovers Books
The cover is hard-bound and covered in linen. You select the linen color during the book-ordering process. The hardcover books have a solid, stiff binding that is glued and crimped. The internal pages, measuring 8.5 x 11 inches, are printed on McCoy 100# Text Gloss paper stock.
    Softcover Books
The softcover books come in three sizes:
    - Large 8.5 x 11 inches
    - Medium 6 x 8 inches
    - Small 2.6 x 3.5 inches
All of the softcover books have internal pages that are printed on McCoy 100# Text Gloss paper stock. The large softcover book has a white cover (Kromekoteplus Folding Cover, 16 point) with a cutout on the front that reveals the cover-page photo in the book. The covers for the medium and small softcover books have the cover image and title printed directly on the cover. All of the softcover books have a glued binding and feature a thick cover of McCoy 100# Cover Gloss paper stock.
    CARDS
All cards are printed on McCoy 120# Silk Cover paper stock. The postcards measure 4 x 6 inches, and the greeting cards measure 5 x 7inches.
    CALENDARS
All calendars measure 8 x 10 inches and are printed on McCoy 100# Silk Cover paper stock.
To ensure the best print quality, we have chosen to use Kodak NexPress technology. The press uses a dry toner, which is fused to the surface of the paper. Please see NexPress' site for more information:

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

I don't have a link handy, but as far as I know, the Acrobat 9 user guide is available online as a (guess what!) PDF you may download... or is on the disc if you bought physical media
Go to that PDF and search for compatibility
The PDF for version 8 covers setting the options to a previous version on pages 102-103
The words may (or may not) be different for v9
    Adobe PDF settings
The Adobe PDF Settings dialog box in Acrobat Distiller contains panels of options that you can select to customize your PDF output.
    General panel options
Use this panel to select a version of Acrobat for file compatibility and other file and device settings. (The panel appearance differs in Windows and Mac OS.)
Compatibility Sets the compatibility level of the PDF. Use the most recent version (in this case, version 1.7) to include all the latest features and functionality. If youre creating PDFs that will be distributed widely, choose an earlier level, to ensure that all users can view and print the document.

  • L5780: first page or 2 print fine then poor quality print

The first few pages of print will be fine but then towards the end of the 3rd page there are horizontal streaks, the next page will be full of them getting worse as the page progresses.  I can wait a while (1/2 hour or so) get a good page but then back to the  horizontal streaks.
I replaced my print heads in August last year and had some issues with the black and yellow one which HP replaced (both of them went from green status to yellow status fairly quickly).  The new print head solved the issue for a while but now for months I've been dealing with this problem.
I have cleaned, aligned and calibrated and now after a 2nd cleaning the yellow print is a very poor quality.  I have HP, print heads, HP ink and HP paper.  I have the proper paper settings.  From what I have read it appears that it could be the black and yellow print head again, but that just seems odd that a 3rd one would go bad in this short time (the first ones I replace in August did not indicate they were bad and were still in a yellow status) .  I don't do a great deal of printing and this August was the first time I've replaced the print heads since I got the printer about 4 years ago.
I print most of my items from Micro Soft Word or Micro Soft Digital Image Suite 2006 Editor.

    a) The size of the pages of PDF which you are printing. LETTER
    b) Does all pages of the PDF are of same size? YES
    c) What is the page size set in the Printer and what is the actual size of the paper which you have put in the tray? LETTER
    d) Does this problem also happens on the virtual printer which you might have on your system (Try either Microsoft MPS Document writer or Adobe PDF Printer) No VIRTUAL PRINTERS

  • Consistant Poor Quality Prints

I'm afraid this is the same old complaint. Having had printed an album of Digital photos I was very disappointed with the quality. Apple kindly re-printed the album but the result was the same. Saving the album as a pdf and printing on an elderly colour printer at work resulted in vastly superior results. Is it me or is there a problem with Apple's proprietary print service provider?

It's not you. What size books are you having problems with?
It appears that the books are not printed with a continuous process like our home inkjet printers. When I examine the photos up close and under strong illumination I can see a faint halftone pattern. This pattern, in my experience is most noticeable in the medium sized books and the smaller prints in the large books. For the most part, I have had excellent result with the hard cover books that I've ordered. The last one was with the dpi bumped up to 300 in the iPhoto's preference file. I had to get the prints in very strong light, like direct sunlight and examine up close before getting a hint of the halftone pattern. It was slightly more noticeable in the smaller sized photos in the book. When view at normal viewing length and illumination it was, IMO, perfect.
The medium book was not as smooth. From normal viewing distance it was slightly noticeable but for the intended purpose perfectly acceptable.
So, bottom line, the print process does look to be different from that of our home printers. Designed for mass production, it probably will never reach the quality we can with our own.

  • Poor Quality DVD with AVCHD input

    Hi all:
I did not find this addressed on the iDVD pages or this page. I have imported AVCHD format video of my son's soccer game. Used iMovie08 7.1.1 to edit it. I was shooting in sports mode. It looks great connected directly to the TV.
After rendering the movie (takes forever!) and burning a DVD, the quality output on my 50 inch tv is horrible. I tried using Xbox, the older PS2 and an built in older DVD player. The quality was poor especially when tracking the ball and the players (panning) across the field. I shot in wide format and burned in that format. Am I missing something?
Is there something I can do? I spent all this money on the Canon HF10 and would really like to see it and share it! Also, is there a faster way to import besides the USB port? I know...a computer upgrade is also in my future.
    Thanks in advance.

What you are describing is nothing more than using iMovie 08 with iDVD in a fully logical--yet wrong--way. To see you do not need to have poor quality from FullHD, go to http://www.vimeo.com/user364340/videos
HEY, AM I READING THIS RIGHT, (yeah I'm shouting)
Your telling us you know how to use im08 and iDVD in some way that (apparently) no-one else knows but you won't share it, at the same time as advertising your book in your signature. I think you should be reading the terms and conditions of the forum here.
Oh and by the way, while the video in the linked clips is indeed crisp and clear it stutters like a nervous old man with Parkinsons, not sure if the clips are yours but have to wonder if your books merely tell us how to make less than acceptable video.
Tom Wolsky writes some really excellent books but is quite happy to share his knowledge for free and has helped 10's of thousands of people in the video forums. Indeed Jon and Karsten from this very forum have shared their considerable knowledge in the form of online written and video help.

  • Poor quality image with doing videos with photos/images HELP!

    Hello,
I bought Adobe Premiere Element to make videos with pictures. When I do the video, the quality of my photos is good. When I save the video on my computer or I download it on youtube (example) the quality of my photos is extremely poor. Why? Does anyone can help me? Thank you!

What Project Preset did you choose at New Project? In the case of Video, composed of Still Images ONLY, you would set that to your desired delivery specs. Not so, if you are also using Video.  I tried several types of parameters. Some parameters give poor quality when I upload it to Youtube (for example) and others in the design of video and upload to YouTube. So which settings should I use for photos only ?
This sounds like you are talking about the Export/Share settings for output to YouTube.
What I was asking is what did you start off with, when you were at New Project?
If you are doing an SD Project, you will have either 720 x 480 (NTSC), or 720 x 576 (PAL) pixels in the Project's Frame Size. If that is what you want, then I would Scale your camera original Stills to 640 x 480 (for NTSC), as you have Square Pixels, and the Project will have either 0.9 for NTSC Standard, or 1.21 for NTSC Widescreen).
PrE can Scale the Still Images, but the Scaling algorithms in Photoshop are much better, and offer more control.
Now, if you wish to do an HD Project, just choose that as your Preset, and then use the Images in about their original size. Note, there will be some black borders, as the screen-caps most likely have a different Aspect Ratio, than a Video Project, which for HD will be 16:9. Especially with screen-caps, that are pretty low resolution to begin with, I would NOT do any Scaling, and would live with the letterboxing, or pillar boxing, rather than Scale and effectively Crop.
Also, when Scaling in Photoshop, I do not Save_As JPEG, as it introduces compression, but only as either PSD (Photoshop's native format), or PNG.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Fonts don't print with Font Book

    Hi,
Fonts I load in Font Book are looking fine on screen but they don't print - I have to put them directly in the Fonts folder (in the System folder) to do so. My printer is a Lexmark E120n is that matters.
What should I do to get them to print using Font Book?
    Thanks for your help!

It turns out the problem was with that certain printer. The floor model and other models and makes works fine. the Brother support person was an idiot, and would not think outside the box. Luckily the guys at Apple and Office Depot did.

  • Photsmart 7520 poor quality prints

A month ago I bought a Photosmart 7520 printer.  I have consistent problems with print quality.  I have to take the black cartridge out every couple of days and shake it.  Photo prints are streaky and often in a weird selection of colours.  It almost always prints a 'draft' quality print first time, wasting expensive paper.  I have tried all the print head cleaning and alignment routines, at best they have a very short term effect.  Is there something I can do, or should I just reject the printer as not fit for purpose?

    Hi,
The Print Quality issues shows up either if correct papers and print settings are not selected. We need to make sure we are using correct type and good quality papers and also Paper Type and Size same in the Print Drivers.
You may follow the steps in the link below:-
If there is any replacement of a part or the printer is required, it depends on the Warranty status of the printer.

  • Poor quality DVDs with DVDPro

I have recently purchased FCP studio, I'm struggling to get the same quality DVDs with DVDP4. From FCP the QT file looks great, once burned to DVD certain parts of the video look terrible. I'm compiling multiple videos for one program. Some videos are mpeg2 files, others are QT files. Two of the mpeg files look great and I've used them to make DVDs on DVDP2 without any issues, put with DVDP4 they look awful. I've even tried making a FCP file with all the videos, sending QT file to compressor and then to DVDP, but it still looks terrible. Any ideas?

    Catherine
Try exporting directly from FCP timeline through Compressor using the 90 min high Quality BUT using CBR (Constant Bitrate):
If you want to save time, try exporting just some seconds of the problematic footage (using IN/OUT points) and play the MPEG2 file to check yu are getting better results.
    Hope that helps !

    Thanks for contacting Microsoft.
From your description, I learnt that you can't print documents on your laptop using office printer. And other users can print using office printer without issue. You also can print documents using your home printer. Please let me know if I misunderstand
    your purpose.
Would you please reinstall the office printer in your laptop? After that, please test how the issue goes.
Besides, please help confirm that whether you can ping printer Server when the issue occurs.

  • Poor quality printing - white lines, etc

I have had a K5400 for over 2 years (out of warrenty).  I don't use it a lot and have recently developed problems with white lines through characters when printing black and white and multi colored lines when printing in color.  I aligned the printheads twice, cleaned the printheads twice and calibrated the linefeed twice.  I changed the CY printhead (after less than 600 pages)  because the diagnostic printout indicated the printhead was poor.  I continue to have the same problems after changing the printhead, realigning the printheads, cleaning the printheads and calibrating the line feed again.
Is there any hope for this printer or do I need to get another one?

    1. There is only one correct setting. Trying then all will just screw up the application. Trash your preferences first. I'm guessing you should be using DV PAL, can't tell about the aspect ratio or the audio sample rate. Pick one that's right for your media. Not much information in none of them works properly. What are you doing? What's happening?
    2. Where are you looking at the exported image? On a video monitor? The QT player? Did you set the playback in QT to high quality in movie properties?
    3. FCE does not work correctly with .dv. That's DV Stream, a format used almost exclusively by iMovie. FCE uses QuickTime. Yes, DV is a heavily compressed format. See above.
    4. After you print to video where are you looking at your material? What are you seeing? You should have horizontal lines, but not on a television set, if you're working in the correct format.
