Poor quality video when uploading to Youtube

Hi there
I'm using Premiere Pro CS5.5 and I've exported a video clip along with a after effects project (using dynamic link)
The video quality is fine until I upload it to youtube.
I'm a newbie to Premiere Pro so any help would be much appreciated.
I've attached a zip file along with the project files
http://www.4shared.com/zip/Uu4cPZse/Premier_Pro_Project.html
any help would be much appreciated.
Mark

Mark,
Thanks for the link.
Let's step back just a bit please.
Can you give us the full details of your Sequence Settings, and your Source Footage?
You mention using ADL (Adobe Dynamic Link) between PrPro and AE. Can you give us a description of what that involves?
Last, can you give us the full details of your Export settings?
Thanks, and good luck,

  • Poor quality video when viewing on canvas - screens captured by Camtasia

I'm creating avi files of Excel screen shots and activities on a PC with Camtasia, moving them to FCP5, and converting them to QuickTime movies. I've tried lots of settings at both ends of the process. The clips look great if played on QT pl;ayer or other players and not bad when played in the FCP viewer. They lose a lot of resolution when I move them to the timeline, render them, and view on the canvas. Any idea what settings I should use to get these clips looking really good? Thanks very much.
    Ernie Horan

They lose a lot of resolution...
    they have to ...
iMovie is for video editing, delivery is in NTSC/PAL, so max. supported res is 720x480...
video means also: iMovie uses internally "dv" as videocodec (as on miniDV tapes...)… what codec is inside the .avi you're producing on your PC? .. as you probably know, avi (in the Apple world: mov) is just a container, some say "wrapper".. can contain many formats&codecs, which look good in playback, but lose quality when processed in iM.. as said: stay with dv...
if camtasia doesn't support dv, try a less compressing codec (mpeg4?)... try to come close to the video specs as possible...
    last word about quality:
"video" means also, your Mac can only "emulate" the final pic quality, video has 30fps, is interlaced etc.... playout to tape/create dvd/use iM's live-playout feature to judge delivery quality....

  • Poor quality video when burning a DVD

    Hi All,
I have recently purchased & installed Premiere Elements 11 on my Windows 7 64bit Dell laptop. I found the tutorials very helpful and was able to successfully create my first project - importing a 46 minute AVCHD file4GB m2.ts shot on my Panasonic HC-V100 in Record Mode HG1920: 1920x1080 25f/s Audio 48kHz. When creating the project I selected: New Project>Change Settings>PAL>AVCHD>Full HD 1080i 25 andTicked ‘Force Selected Project Setting on this Project’ (I'm in the UK hence selecting PAL)
I added titles then created a menu and scenes using a still photo 2mb jpg 3456x2304 300dpi for the menu background. So far so good - really pleased with the results on screen. Next I selected Publish>Disc > selected AVCHD Add Name>Choose 1920x1080i>Burn to Folder. I then burned the BDMV Folder to DVD using the inbuilt DVD burner in my laptop.
This successfully produced a DVD with menus and titles which will play on my Blu-ray player. The quality of the video is excellent and I am delighted with the result however here is the first of the problems I'm hoping someone can help with: The background image on the menu is slightly blurred as are the menu/scene titles.
Next I wanted to produce a DVD for people who don't have a Blu-ray player & therefore need to play it on a normal DVD player. This is the second problem (and one I have seen mentioned elsewhere on the community). I published the project in a similar manner to the one above but with the following differences:
Burn to DVD Folder: Select 4.7>Type name>Browse to location. I now burn the VIDEO_TS folder to DVD, again using the the inbuilt DVD burner in my laptop however this time the result is very poor. The menu doesn't work and the quality of the video is unacceptable. Of course I understand that the result will be considerably lower quality than with the AVCHD version however this is not watchable.
(BTW, prior to purchasing Premiere Elements 11 I had been playing the video from my camera into a Sony RDR-HXD910 hard disc recorder then burning DVDs from that device using SP mode. This produced DVDs with perfectly acceptable quality so I must admit that I was hoping for similar results from Premiere Elements.)
I have read on the community that DVDStyler is a preferred method of burning DVDs however afer downloading it I failed to find a way of using it for simply burning my existing VIDEO_TS folder.
This is as far as I have got and now would really appreciate some help to point me in the right direction to be able to burn my project onto ordinary DVDs. I have tried to put as much information on the post as possible but I am new to video editing so have probably missed or not described something!
    Thanks in advance
    Simon

    ATR,
Thank you for helping me out.
    To answer your questions:
--Do you really need NTSC DVD-VIDEO standard 4:3 on DVD disc or is NTSC DVD-VIDEO widescreen 16:9 on DVD acceptable?
I was told that product specs require 4:3 aspect ratio for DVD.  (Unfortunately footage was all shot in 16:9 before I found out about the 4:3 finished requirement.)  I want to generate the highest IQ possible in this format.
    --Is your 1920 x 1080p 30 or 25 or something else?
All video was shot at 1920 x 1080p 60fps.  AVCHD.
Video Source Properties as obtained from the Timeline:
    Type: MPEG Movie
    Image Size: 1920x1080
    Frame Rate: 59.94
Source Audio Format: 48000Hz – compressed - Stero
Project Audio Format: 48000Hz – 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
--What exactly is set as the Premiere Elements project preset for the project that has this 1920 x 1080p footage on its Timeline?
    PROJECT SETTINGS
Editing Mode: AVCHD 1080p square pixel
    Timebase: 59.94 fps
    Frame Size: 1920x1080
    Pixel Aspec Ratio: Square (1.0)
    Fields: None (progressive scan)
    Display Fomat: 60fps Drop-Frame Timecode
Title Safe Area: 20% horizontal, 20% vertical
Action Safe Area: 10% horizontal, 10% vertical
    Audio Sample Rate: 48000Hz
    Display Format: Audio Sample
--When the project preset was set, did you use NTSC or PAL section in the new project dialog?
I didn't make any choices.  I didn't use the new project dialog.  I imported media and started working.  When I saved, I made no choices.  Since I'm in the US and bought this from Amazon, I assumed it was NTSC, and that appears to be the case.
    --Is your program version 12?
    Yes.
Motivated by a different thread regarding titles and 4:3, I did create a test "movie" (not DVD) at 4:3 and all the titles fit within the image area.  (I even made a point of inserting a couple of titles that ran outside the "safe" area in the PRE Titler; these also all fit on the image although they came closer to the edge.  Not crowded, but perhaps not as aesthetically pleasing as those that were created within the limits.

  • Poor quality video when I make a DVD

    Hi,
I've been very disapointed when making DVDs from HD footage.  I create a sequence in Premiere Pro CS5 and use the Dymnaic Link software to bring that sequence into Encore with out rendering it.  The sharpness and clarity are fine on the original footage but as soon as I make it into a DVD the output is always less sharp and less defined.  Now I understand it is reduced in definition when rendered for the DVD but if I buy a DVD and play it on a 65 inch high def TV it is almost as clear as a blue ray.  The stuff I make doesn't even look good on a 25 inch TV:(.
Can any one help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?
    thanx,
    Mel

What are the recommended settings in Sorenson Squeeze 6.5 for making transcoded files for Encore CS 5   SD DVDs?  Is this a good work around to the problem in this thread?
Also, anyone know why Squeeze has gone through multiple versions without being able to fix its Blu Ray encoding. A technician told me it was something to do with Encore, but that was it....

  • How do I get HD quality when uploading to youtube?

    Hello,
I have a sony HD camcorder that records AVCHD. In Pre Elements 8 I upload my finished videos on youtube, the video is pixilated. I think I have to change the compression or bit rate but i don't know how. When i play the video in Premier Elements 8 it is HD quality. How do I get that same quality when uploading to youtube??
    Thanks,
    Michael

And, remember that YouTube will encode any/all submissions to their specifications du jour. One is at their mercy in the end, and what looks great today, might look poor next week, or next month. Also, be sure to check out their printed requirements on the day that you do your Export/Upload.
    Good luck,

  • Bad quality when uploaded to youtube?

I have adobe premiere elements 12 to make youtube videos. I uploaded the first video and that one had a black border 1440 X 1080 HD, and then I tried a second video HD 1920 X  1080 which didn't have a black border but the quality was terrible. I am new to editing and filming, how do I get the quality to be as good as it is in the editor when uploaded to youtube?

    divinejoy916
We will do just fine. And, I am not seeing any problems exchanging information to get the core of your Premiere Elements YouTube problems. I will write as clearly as possible. If there is something that you do not understand, I will rewrite.
    Computer
You did a great job with the install of the program. If you did not open a new project and go to the workspace and Help Menu/Update, then you are still working with the 12 version. To go from 12 to 12.1 Update, then use that Help Menu/Update. If you are interested in Text Styles, that 12.1 Update has resolved an issue with Text Styles in the Expert workspace.
    Project Preset
The program is designed to set the project preset automatically to match the properties of your source media. The setting of the project preset directs the program to set up the correct space in the Edit area monitor for editing. Sometimes the program does it right, sometimes not. If not, then you set the project preset manually to match the properties of what you know the source media to be. Some background information on that
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE11: Accuracy of Automatic Project Preset (New Project Dialog) Setting.
The first thing we need to know is what we are starting with as your video source for the project. We probably can get all the information that we need to know about properties of the source media from the brand/model/settings for the camera that recorded that Timeline video. Do you have other than video on that Timeline, like jpeg photos? By video properties, I mean video compression, audio compression, frame size, frame rate, interlaced or progressive (1080i or 1080p), and pixel aspect ratio.
Once we know that we can cross catch with the project preset and react accordingly. From what you wrote, your project is set for the default NTSC AVCHD Full HD1080i30 which may or may not be correct for your video source.
    Export
    You wrote
Im publish sharing using the HD presets.
Still not sure what you are doing with the export, and that is important to be able to trace down to the cause of the issue. You can upload your Timeline content to YouTube two ways for your 2 minutes and 52 second Timeline
    a. Publish+Share/Social Websites/YouTube with Presets = High Definition for YouTube 1920 x 1080 - the uploading of the Timeline is done from within the program using your YouTube account that you set up. (Keep away from the 1440 x 1080 choice.)
    or
    b. Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with Presets = MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30. Here you export to an AVCHD.mp4 file saved to the computer hard drive and then upload that AVCHD.mp4 file to YouTube at the YouTube web site.
Which one of those two are you doing?
Please let me know if you are OK with the above. If not, please tell me what I need to clarify further.
    Summary
First let us target getting the properties of your source video for this project one way or other.
    Thanks.

  • Video taken from Iphone vertically has thick black border around it when uploaded to youtube. Any way to fix?

I edited a bunch of clips taken from my Iphone, some vertical some horizontal. I put them together on Final Cut Pro but when uploaded to youtube, the clips recorded vertically have thick black edges and the video itself looks tiny! Is there any way to fix this? Please help!

You need to sort some stuff out.
Your source is pal 25 frames in SD
Your offline footage is HD with a framerate 29.97.
You need to set your sequence the same as your footage.
Then export again with the same framerate.

  • Device a Little Warm When Uploading to YouTube

I shot a 2 minute video then uploaded it to YouTube. The first upload failed as I think the device went to sleep. Changed the setting and the second attempt worked. The combined upload time was probably a good 20 minutes or so. I noticed the device got warm on the back panel, almost hot. I am using a CapsuleRebel case.
Anyone else notice the heat when uploading to YouTube?

Each iPhone, even the 1st generation and also the 3Gs, warm up when they are "active". Each microprocessors develops heat when active; the more active, the more heat. That's why Macs and PCs have fans inside.
You do not need to worry about that. It's normal physics.

  • Why is the video quality for AVCHD when uploaded to youtube higher...

    when submitted from a mac?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8d-fQxdBmQ
I sent this video directly from my Macbook using iMovie 8.0 and that's the video quality results
    #2
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5U3dDmAX7C0
I uploaded this using Adobe Premirere Pro CS 4 H.264 - youtube HD widescreen preset and those were the results...?
    Why?

"I suspect you simply didnt wait long enough for youtube to fully process  the video before you watched it."
Incorrect. After I uploaded the second video, I went to sleep, without watching it once.
So if I set the 2nd video to low resolution, would it end up looking like the first video? Because I still think the first video has better quality.

  • I'm new to FCPX and Compressor 4.  My HD video looks terrible when uploaded to YouTube and are no longer 720 or 1080p HD.  Are there codes or a secret handshake to have my HD video remain HD on youtube.  All help appreciated.

I have been editing in FCP X 10.0.6 and have had success with that on my Mac Book Pro Retina.  But when I go to compress the 1 minute video detined for YouTube inputing that I wish for it to remain in HD (720 and or 1080p) via Compressor 4, the video compresses and I upload it to youtube via their uploader and when the video is played back it looks aweful.  Needless to say it is no longer HD and very blurry.  Is there any help you can give me with step by step codes to follow to ensure my 1 minute video is viewable in HD? I sure would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Thanks a million Russ for you time and input.  I have recompressed my project several times and that aspect has worked a charm.  But I seem to come unstuck when I upload my compressed video to youtube only.  All the presets seem fine and I have done it using either ProRes or Youtube/Vimeo HD options.  I have just left them on my desktop and uploaded to youtube via their uploader from there after sucessfully compressing them with Compressor 4.  Yet, there seems to be no improvement in the picture quality.  Mind you the sound is fine.  I will get busy with some screenshots if you still think they would be handy.  Many thanks again for your consideration. I really had hoped it was as simple as a secret handshake too. Darn. LOL  -RR

  • Flash video lags when uploaded to Youtube.

    Hi.
I have tried to upload one of my flash videos on youtube, the only problem is that it lags!
The sound is perfect, but the film only shows about 1 frame per second, when it's supposed to be 12 frames per second. This is obviously nothing worth watching when the picture lags as much as it does.
I have uploaded the same video on my facebook profile, and it worked pretty good, but as I already said, it lags when it is on youtube.
I don't have any movieclips in the movie I uploaded to Youtube.
Does it have anything to do with the settings on the movie? I eksported it in to a quiktime film before I uploaded it to youtube. I saw a tutorial where the person exported his flash into quiktime and uploaded it to youtube, and the animations were smooth, but when I do this, it lags.
    Can anybody help me?

I don't see that. To me, it looks the same quality as any YouTube video.
How do most YouTube videos look to you?

  • Video quality downgrade after uploading to Youtube

Hey everyone, I've just started making movies and been playing around with video options for a few days and gotten past a few major milestones, however I just want to see how I can increase the video quality as the exported file doesn't look nearly as good once it's uploaded to youtube.
Quick notes about how I do it atm: First, I use FRAPS to capture video with Adobe Premiere 4.0 exporting my files as full 1900x1200 @ 29.97 FPS using the Windows Media Video 9 codec.
    Encoding process: Two
    Bitrate mode: Variable Unconstrained
    Pixel Aspect ratio: Square
    Decoder Complexity: Auto
    Keyframe Interval [seconds]: 5
    Average Bitrate[kbps]: 10,000
Exported video looks fine, however when I upload to youtube the quality really downgrades...viewable and correct resolution but still crummy for such a great looking vid. Hoping someone can help me out here! Thanks in advance.
    Source video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avzzkywqRcE

First, I would do a Search on this forum for "FRAPS." There are several articles with comments on the best workflow and also settings for Import and for Export.
Next, YouTube is trobulesome. First, they re-encode everything and their specs seem to change weekly. It's tough to find out what they want on any given day. I'd go to their site and get the very latest instructions and attempt to duplicate those perfectly, knowing that they might be different tomorrow.
Good luck with this one, and good luck with the FRAPS footage.

  • I movie w/ spliced pics throw off movie when uploaded to youtube? The pics lag and is now off with the audio. Doesn't happen with video, just pics and it's worse if I splice the pics to fit audio. Suggestions?

This is really annoying. I movie hd works well when compressing it to quicktime and uploading to youtube  but when there's pics involved and I have to slice them to fit audio it messes with the timing in conjunction to the audio. Any ideas? It works fine in quicktime when compressed but once it's uploaded to youtube it acts fishy. Even though it's fine in quicktime it seems to be an issue in I movie and how it's compressed or something.
    I movie HD- 5.0.2
    quicktime player- 7.5.5
    Compression settings
    compression: h.264
    quality: high
    key frame rate:24
    frame rec: yes
    encoding mode: multi pass
    dimensions: 320x 240
    sound
    format: acc
    sample rate: 48.000khz
    channels:mono
    bit rate:64kbps

That's fantastic, worked really well, just like you said. I actually didn't expect such an easy solution to my problem, thanks very much.
It had the added bonus that it allows me to import the files quicker than before to iMovieHD if I am editing them.
    Thanks again

  • Why does my video get blurry when uploaded to youtube?

I shot my video on a 5d m2, Processed it in premeir Pro cs6 and exported full res and encoded for you tube. It is tack sharp on my computer quick time player etc, but when loaded into youtube looks like a cell phone video.  Please help!  Thanks to all for your help.

Try exporting using the H.264 preset for YouTube at the dimensions of your video. It sounds like you may have done that but you were not specific.
Also, verify that you are looking at the HD version of the video when you use the YouTube player. All this assumes that you waited long enough for YouTube to process the HD version. It first encodes a SD version, then it encodes the HD version.

  • How to export in exact same quality file when uploding for youtube?

    Hello
Im writing here cause im really tired of exporting dozens of files with bad quality even though im using best exporting settings.
I tried to watch tutorial clips where people show how to make best quality but still i cant get it right.....i really dont understand where im doing wrong!!
I would appreciate if there is some1 out there who could help me export in corrects settings.....i know its not easy to help some1 with settings by writing here as u have to know which settings i shot with which settings im using in my timeline and what im using for export....and so on.
but i give it a try...
So its like this ive got a camera named
    Sony HDR CX730E
and i made my shot with setting (pic1)
its written in swedish anyways its avchd 1920x1080 50p
so i created a project setting as (pic 2)
    and sequence settings as (pic3)
and when i export i have tried to export in dozens of files to see which one seems to be best like H.264 ,HD 1080p 29.97 or youtube HD 1080p 29.97 and even i tried Mxf op1a avc intra class100 1080p 25p which gives a superb HD quality when i play it in computer but the files is almost 3,5gb large but i think the larger the file is the better quality i get!?
Anyhow when i upload the mxf file or any other file which i have exported for youtube it gives a very poor quality once u put Full HD 1080 in full screen ....its almost like u play it without HD......
I want to achieve something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avCWzkNiXok
and my video quality is like youtube video i just showed but unfortunately only in my computer not in youtube.......
So if there is some1 out there who cud help me ill be so greatful of u!
    Thank you
(im using adobe premiere pro cc)

    OK.
First of all, I would not try to export 50fps to 29.97 fps.  I would use 25fps if I used anything other than 50fps.
Second, there is no need to change your settings at all. YouTube says to upload at the same frame rate you shot it at.
    https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171?hl=en&ref_topic=2888648
You will also notice that 8Mb/s is the "standard" quality and you can go up to 50Mb/s for 1080p. So try exporting at around the same bitrate as your original recording. If it was 25Mb/s then try that. If 50Mb/s go ahead and try that if you are still not happy at 25Mb/s.
Although, I generally find that I am content at about 15Mb/s for video without much action, 25Mb/s for most video and for sports I use the max of 50Mb/s.
Having said that, I don't worry about file size anymore. I have disk space and a fast Internet connection. If either of those are a problem for you, then you may have to adjust your expectations.
