Poor resolution on bmp file

I have a bmp file from photoshop, but when i import it into the timeline and render it, the resolution is very poor. How can I improve this?
Thanks,
Paul

Yeah graphics look bad on the preview screen.
Make a DVD,
or render out to the final quality and look in quicktime,
or look on a broadcast monitor to really see what you are getting.
The little preview screen is a preview,
not at all a reference monitor for quality.

  • Increasing resolution of bmp file

    Hi,
I have a bmp file to be printed, and would need to increase the resolution of the bmp from 72 dpi to 1270 dpi
for that purpose. Can this be done in photoshop? And how can it be done?
Would appreciate any inputs on this.
    Many thanks.

    Hi Mmyyl,
This is called "upsampling" and you can change the resolution by going to Image > Image Size and then changing the resolution. You should also change the resample mode to Bicubic Smoother.
It's important to note that simply typing in "1270" to the resolution area isn't going to get you very far. You'll end up with a extremely pixelated image. Follow the link below to a great article all about resizing images:
    http://layersmagazine.com/photoshop-resizing-images.html
Here is a quote from the website:
    The (dark) art of upsampling
That being said, (lowers voice  to a whisper) there is a very special technique for squeezing pixels into an  image without losing too much quality, but one should only use it in the direst  of deadline or Extreme Large Format Printing (i.e., billboard) situations. The  trick is to pop open the Image Size dialog, leave Resample Image checked and choose Bicubic Smoother from the pop-up menu to its right. Next, change the  document dimension pop-ups to Percent and enter anywhere from 105–110%, then  click OK. Do this as many times as necessary until you get the desired pixel  dimensions. This will indeed add pixels to the image with surprisingly little  quality loss, and at super large sizes, no noticeable quality loss at all. With  such power comes the need for great restraint, however, so do resist the urge  to increase more than 5–10% at a time."
    Good luck!

  • Quicktime poor resolution and large file how to improve

I've been trying to use Quicktime Version 10.3 (727.1) to record a screen session.
It works OK, but the quality is terrible. The characters are all fuzzy on playback. Despite that the 10minute recording takes up 85MB in .mov format.
I'm not changing screens much, and the content on the screens is very simple, so I'd have thought that it would be possible to get a really clean and small file.
Is there anything that can be done to make this better?
If not, is there a better tool to use to do this?

Is there anything that can be done to make this better?
This type of question is difficult to answere since you have not indicated eactly what you are doing or using. (E.g., are you on an older, slower or newer, faster platform, are you recording the entire screen or just a portion thereof, and what is the specific recording and plaback resolutions?)
It works OK, but the quality is terrible. The characters are all fuzzy on playback. Despite that the 10minute recording takes up 85MB in .mov format.
85 MBs is actually a very small file for 10 minutes of video, (I.e., a 10 minute 1080p MPEG-4 AVC file would probably be on the order of 3.75 GBs and a 10 minute 1080p Apple trailer would like be in the 600 to 900 MBs size range.) Your 85 MB/10 minute file has a combined total average data rate of only abour 1.13 Mbps which would normally be used for an SD (640x480 to 853x480) file of "good" quality.
I'm not changing screens much, and the content on the screens is very simple, so I'd have thought that it would be possible to get a really clean and small file.
Screen recording quality primarily depends on on your system's CPU power and the screen area being captured. The smaller the area for a give level of CPU power, the faster the frame rate of the capture at the data rate targeted by the capturing software. Unfortunately, the screen recording feature for QT X v10.3 is contextual and does not give the user any options other than changing the area of the screen to be recorded.
If not, is there a better tool to use to do this?
The free QT X screen recorder is often not the best tool here. Some third-party apps are more efficient, allowing a better "intermediate" capture that is then scaled during a targeted export which allows the user to "set" a quality level up to the maximum of the captured content. Unfortunately for you, the higher the quality—the larger the final file will be. Basically, there three facets to recording/exporting content—efficiency in terms of speed, quality, and file size. With good source content, you can optimaize any two facets but never all three. Unfortunately, QT X under Mavericks does not provide an optimum souce file to do this using the Mavericks built-in Finder "Convert" service routine.

  • Poor resolution on playback of PNG slides

I'm making a video presentation consisting of *.MOD segments and PowerPoint slides that have been converted as 25-90 KB *.PNG slides.  I burn the DVD. On playing the DVD on TV,  the slides have very poor resolution. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help you can give.

    Welcome to the forum.
What are the pixel x pixel dimensions of those PNG images. File size does not really mean anything in video.
What is your Project's Frame Size in pixels, say 1920 x 1080?
Exactly how did you convert the PowerPoint "slides" to PNG?
Good luck, and please let us know a bit more.

  • Poor resolution on iPhoto book

I just ordered the large softbound iPhoto Book from Apple and am very disappointed with the poor resolution of the photos. My original files were 1280x960. Is there any way to find out if my photos are being uploaded at the highest possible res? I've read other posts about changing preferences, but haven't been able to figure out how to do that at my end.
    Thanks!

    Emily:
The easiest way I've found to modify preference files is with Pref Setter. Once you've located and opened the iPhoto preference file do a search for "dpi". Then change the values for the Keys BookTargetImageDIP, BookTargetSmallImageDIP and BookTargetMediumImageDIP to 300. Save and close Pref Setter. That's it.
It's interesting that you found the large book images to be poor. There was another user that received large books from both the east and west coasts. He found the east coast book to be of lower image resolution (greater halftone pattern) than that from the west coast. All of my large size books have come from the west coast and have been very good, with or without the resolution change in the preference file. Not so with the medium size books. There were patterned no matter what resolution was set in the preferences.
    Good luck.

  • Plotting a bmp file and concatination with polor plot

i have developed one graphical application where i am concatinating a 24 bit bmp file and labview polor plot in a picture box where a line is rotating continiously with 0.5 degree resolution by changing the data in polor vi.Now i have placed one boolean button in the centre of the polor plot.when the program is running the button is also moving along the radius of the circle(following the line)by changing the data in the top and left property of the boolean button.
The problem is that when i am removing the bmp file the bollean button runs very fast but when bmp file is there the program anyway running slow as a result boolean button also running slow.
what is the solution.i want both, the picture(bmp) as well as fast movement of the button.
i am attaching the application program.it is developed in 6.1.
    tanu

bmp is raster, display slow in picture control; while polar plot is vector, draws faster.
If the bmp is not changing, you can use it as background behind the picture control.
If the bmp is changing, maybe you can convert it to 8 bit bmp, so it can be redraw faster.

  • Save an 16 bits grayscale image in a bmp file

    Hello,
I need to save a bmp file using an I16 grayscale picture.
I already did the following VI that saves the picture in bmp but the colors are not good : there is only blue levels.
I think there is a problem with the type of data that feed "array to color image" or with the colorscale but i don't manage to find where.
    Hope you can help me.
    Tank you.

    Hi
The arraytocolorimage expects U32 because expects a RGB color, try this instead of the "toU32"

  • Issue in creating bmp file with cl_igs_chart_engine class

    Hi All,
I want to populate dynamic graphic in a smartform.
Im using cl_igs_chart_engine class to produce a GIF format of a chart.
Then im trying to use class cl_igs_image_converter to convert that gif into a bmp format using INPUT = 'image/gif' and OUTPUT = 'image/x-ms-bmp'.
but it returns with system failure exception  in

There is no error happening in case of converting any graphic format(bmp, tiff) to gif format but system failure exception occurs while trying to convert into bmp format.
    Appreciate your inputs.

    Hi,
I have taken a copy of program GRAPHICS_IGS_CE_TEST and made changes in it. In std program, file type in customizing XML is 'PNJ'. I changed it to 'BMP' as per your suggestion. However, in the
    call method l_igs_ce->execute
          exceptions
          others = 1.
there is a call function for 'PIGFARMDATA'. Im getting exception error( sy-subrc = 2) for system failure.
This program works fine if the file type in customizing XML is 'GIF' or 'PNG' but not for 'BMP' file types.
    Please advice.
    Cheers,

  • How to open a BMP file in a JLabel???

we'll win the FIFA World Cup!!

The easiest way to do that is to get a graphics package that can convert a BMP file to a JPG file. Some versions of Microsoft Paint will do that, but you should be able to find another one if you need it.
I hope Brazil wins, but if they don't it will be because the referees give it to Korea.

  • Error while uploading *.BMP file using SE78

    Hi
I am trying to upload a BMAP file from presentation server onto the document server using SE78.
I am facing an error saying
"This is not a *.BMP file(they begin with <> "BM")"
    Message no. TD874
I have the necessary company logo in this file and I want to put this in the sapscript.
Is there some formatting that needs to be done to the bitmap file before importing in SE78.
    Please help!
    Thanks
    Bala

    hi
Convert BMP from <b>Command prompt using ren command</b>
    then follow below process
    Go to transaction SE78.
Follow the path given below (on the left windows box) :-
SAPSCRIPT GRAPHICS --> STORED ON DOCUMENT SERVER --> GRAPHICS --> BMAP
Enter the name of the graphics file on the right side and Go to the menu GRAPHIC --> IMPORT
The program is RSTXLDMC, the logo needs to be save in .TIF format.
Use transaction SE78 to inmport graphics to SAP.
In the form painter, you can either include directly to the form using menu Edit->Graphic->Create or using the INCLUDE statement in a window.
To use an INCLUDE stanment, goto into the woindow script editor and use menu Include->Graphic. The include can look like this for a bitmap:
/: BITMAP MYLOGO OBJECT GRAPHICS ID BMAP TYPE BMON

  • Read BMP File Requires Absolute Path

I noticed something today regarding the Graphics Formats, Read JPG File, Read PNG File and Read BMP File vi's. It seems that when reading a JPG or PNG file, a relative path is OK, but when reading a BMP file, an absolute path is required. When the path only contains the filename, it returns:
        Error 1430
"Open/Create/Replace File in Read BMP File Data.vi->Read BMP File.vi->ReadImageFileTest.vi"
I tried a simple test that uses either the relative or absolute path, trying to read 3 different files in the same directory as the VI. Only the Read BMP File errors. Of course, the simple work around is to always use the full pathname to a file. Is this only on my system? Is this a known bug or feature or expected behavior?
I'm using LabVIEW 8.2 on Windows XP.
    Thanks!

  • Converting multiple bmp files to PDF using acrobat 7.0 from DOS prompt

    Hi,
I have a requirement to convert multiple BMP files in a folder to one PDF.
I can use multiple file conversion option in acrobat to combine and convert them to one PDF .. but I have 2000 such folder to conver to PDF.
PDF should be name after the folder name.
Is there a to automate this in acrobat.. or can we run this conversion from DOS prompt using commands.. so that I can create a bat file and have them converted. Pls let me know.
    Thanks
    Pugazh

I have not tried BMP files, but do JPeg, GIF, TIFF, and PNG files regularly. I simply open Acrobat, then select the graphics files in explorer and drag & drop to Acrobat. I then organize the graphics if needed (using the pages tab) and save to a PDF.

  • Poor resolution connecting my MBP to TV via HDMI. visable vertical lines.

    hey!
so I've been googeling around for awhile and it seems A LOT of people have this issue. but I haven't been able to find a solution yet. Story goes... connecting the MBP to the TV via DVI to HDMI gives poor resolution. the weird thing is this only happens every other time. I've tried it on my macbook pro (2007) and another macbook (2010) and it has the same issue with both (but only sometimes). any thoughts?
    thanks!
    Grant

To Csound's good advice, let me just add that there may be a specific HDMI port on the TV that you must use if you're going to send audio to the TV separately. This should also be explained in the TV's manual.

  • Want to display a .bmp file in reports

    Hello there
I am trying to display a .bmp file on reports which I think is simple.the main problem is that After making changes to report we transfer the report file to Unix and then generate the report in unix and print it and in that process the report stops printing.
    Thanks in advance.
    Jha

make sure SOURCE FILENAME is valid in your LINK FILE pointing to the image.bmp
Report compiles nicely even with wrong source filename, only when opening layout editor an error message will appear.
