Poor signal in strong signal area (N95)

Hi guys,
I have a N95 & when I'm at home & should get a strong signal I drop calls & can't even send txt's
when I'm in an area with lower reception I get full
signal bars ?? is there a gain setting ??
thanks in advance
Paul1966

It's really funny, when I first got my Orange N95 the signal was good at my mums house but after a couple of months it seemed to drop by 2 bars. I'm sure there is somekind of gain setting that makes it work well for a couple of months then switches to lower gain once you have passed your return phone cool off period. Or I'm paranoid lol.
Is that an N95 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?!?
Life's too important to take seriously.
Nokias I've owned 3210, 3310, 6100, 7650, 6600, 6680, 6630, N80, N95
I'm a 26 year old boy BTW

  • NO SERVICE Even Though in Strong Signal Area

My Iphone always says "no service" or nearly always even though I am in a strong signal area like New York City and my blackberry which uses edge has all the bars. sometimes all the bars show up, but when i make a call the bars immediately go to zero.
    I have already
    (1) re-installed lasted software for Iphone
    (2) checked to see that airplane mode off
    (3) shut off and restarted many times
    (4) reset everything
    (5) made sure my ATT service is OK and paid up etc.
I can get to internet via my home wireless, but never does EDGE activate and always get message about cant activate edge.
    Any thoughts?

Actually two things -- one, have you called ATT to make sure your data usage is actually activated on your line? Not just paid for, but actually turned on at their end.
Two, return for exchange. This has happened to a handful of users with phones that don't work properly. I have travelled all over NYC with no problems with my iPhone.

  • HH3 Poor Signal Upstairs

    Hi
I have BT Infinity installed which comprises of the HH3 and modem downstairs.
I live in a two bed semi-detached and my devices and connections are as follows:
    Downstairs/Connection
    Xbox/No problems
    Kindle Fire/No problems
    Laptop/No problems
    Mobile phone: No problems
    Upstairs/Connection
PC/Interimittent (ok most of the time but can struggle where a connection drops altogether)
Kindle Fire/No connection (sometimes connects but then more or less immediately disconnects, when connected only 6mbps)
    Laptop/No problems
    Mobile phone: No problems
I have tried changing channels on the router which has little effect on the Kindle. I have downloaded a wifi analyser which shows that the bedrooms upstairs have a very poor signal reaching them (although the mobile and laptop seem to deal with this very well, and the PC most times).
Can anyone offer any advice to try and get the signal better upstairs? I would have thought a house such as mine should easily get signals in all arears from the HH3 but obviously not.
    Thanks in advance

I have had a look at the wireless access points and the TP looks good. Can someone explain in n00b language what happens?
Will it plug into my router downstairs and push a stronger signal around the house? If so, its just a more powerful router then?
    Confused..
You cannot get a more powerful wireless router, the maximum transmitted power is restriced by law to 100mW.
If you read my document you can see that there are two options.
Wireless repeater that boosts the signal in an areas that has a poor signal.
    Or
Extra wireless point upstairs, connected over the mains and plugs into the home hub. See the last diagram on this
    page.
The second option is normally the best, as it gives a faster connection, but has the extra cost of the powerline adapters.
You can try the first option, but the repeater needs to be somwhere upstairs, where there is still a usable signal, perhaps in a location above the home hub.

  • N8 poor signal reception and other hardware issues...

    I have always been a Nokia fan . I started with Nokia 6600, then N70, then N82 and now a Nokia N8.
However, I am facing the worst experience with N8 reception issues.
The problems faced are as under :
    1) Poor Signal Reception Issues - Signal strength is weak and is constantly fluctuating compared to other Nokia Phones. At my workplace, if Nokia N82 displays 5 bars, N8 would display only 1 or 2 bars.
    2) Phone freezes many times. Whenever an Alarm is enabled, phone freezed much more.
    3) Purple Tint in the display. Nokia Service Centre says that its normal but according to me, they are just ignoring this issue.
    4) Vibration is weak : I often do not realize when the phone is vibrating in my pocket !!
Upcoming Symbian Anna will just improve the user interface but will not be able to solve these hardware issues.
If Nokia plans a hardware update facility for N8 users wherein they can fix the signal reception issues and increase the RAM to 1 GB atleast, I would retain this phone for few years.
But, now, I intend to switch to Samsung Galaxy S II.

I am agree with poor signal issue with nokia N8. I have two cell with one is N8 and other one is N26 with nearly 4.5 year old but at same place Nokia N8 showing very poor quality of network signal compared to N26. So for same network provider with two different cell with same manufacture how can drastic different that is also investing nearly RS.22000!
    Please resolve the issue ASAP.

  • Poor signal in So. Florida

Having problems with dropped calls and signal strength in South Florida. VZ map shows solid signal, but told by VZ tech that I'm in variable signal area. ATT and TMO both have great signal here, why not VZ?

I'm so glad to hear that you were able to get a network extender, bratok! The range of a Network Extender is 5,000 Sq. Ft. If you're not getting a strong signal, even when connected to it, you may want to move it to another area of the house, higher or closer to a window.
While we are always working to expand our network, we don't have the details for specific areas to know what the timeline is for improved coverage.

  • "Poor Signal", "Coverage hole pre alarm for client" after changing from Autonomous to Lightweight infrastruture

    Dears,
I use to have wireless infrastructure based on autonomous APs 1142n, auth w/ 802.1x and everything was fine.
My Company decided to implement WLC 5508, and I changed only 2nd floor (2 APs) as lightweight and implement WLC over there as pilot testing...

Both APs are distant each other maximim of 15 meters... Our office has a medium open spaced room, with (20 X 15 meters) only 2 "Pilaster" in the middle of the room.

  • Samsung s6/s6 edge poor signal

    Hi,
Is anyone else getting poor signal strength from their s6 or edge? I have an s6 edge and whereas my old nexus 5 used to get full 4g signal at home my new phone gets 1 or 2 bars. Download speeds are not fantastic considering I am on a 4gee contract now. Is anyone else experiencing this or do I have a dud phone? I went into store to ask but they dismissed me saying I should have a software update soon that may fix it.
    Thanks

Yes- extremely poor signal. Phone only ever displays one or zero bars of signal; I'm based between home and uni just outside London; so signal should be very good. I've had the phone for about a month now and experiencing problems with dropped calls, failed texts and issues connecting to WiFi on AC and N bands (the latests and most secure signal bands). I think it might be a problem with the antenna but everyone I've spoken to at EE have been very unhelpful. Fortunately, Samsung offers a 24 month warranty, so it might be worth going to them to get the phone repaired or replaced?

  • WRT610N...very poor signal

I recently purchased a WRT610N to replace my WRT160N because my new 2.4ghz baby monitor took down the wireless internet on the WRT160N. On Linksys' recommendation I also bought a 5ghz wireless adapter for my new Dell laptop, a WEC600N (previously I was using the internal 2.4ghz wireless on it which has now been disabled). I am finding that the WRT610N is giving me very, very poor signal when I'm only two rooms away from it. I have unplugged all of my cordless phones and that does not improve the signal so I do not think they are conflicting. Nothing else is wireless in my house (except the baby monitor which operates on 2.4ghz) so nothing should be conflicting. I have talked with Linksys support twice online and they had me change some settings in the advanced wireless tab but that did not help. Anyone have any ideas? This is very annoying and I hope to get it fixed soon. I can get two bars of signal (and that's about the best I can get) if I'm one floor down but if I'm on the same floor as the router and just two bedrooms away I get such a poor signal I can't even connect. Thanks!

Access setup page of router ......
Click wireless >> Click on Advanced Wireless

  • Poor signal on 3gs after iso 5

why poor signal on my iphone 3gs after iSO 5 update?

    Same here:
The update of the iPhone 3Gs if awful. Updates should never break things that work. After updating my iPhone, WiFi and Bluetooth sensitivity are down. I cannot connect to the WiFi in my house at 12 ft. Bluetooth loses connectivity at just over 2 ft ( from my ear to my pocket), come on now, all this worked well before the update. App's are very jumpy, not nearly as smooth as before.
If this is Apple's way of forcing an update, I may not be an Apple customer anymore.

  • Linksys EA2700 poor signal

    Hi,
Recently I bought a EA2700 Wireless router for home internet connection.
I live in Single bedroom flat and my router is placed in the main hall.
If I try to access Wifi from Bedroom, unable to connect to internet due to poor signal.
Please help me to improve the signal strentgh so that I can access the interenet any corner of my flat.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    Hi,
Yes channel 9 is a good channel. I also sometimes used channel 1 and channel 3 for better wireless coverage.
I upgraded the firmware of EA2700 router then do hard reset. It worked fine. I don’t have any signal concerns now.
I checked interference see this link Interference factor
You can do also a non-stop ping unlimited pings
I use this procedure in order to test the wireless signal limit.
I don’t have any signal glitches with this router. I placed the router above the floor on top of a wooden table.
I make sure my wireless adapters are update. I used Inssider also and it is a very good tool. I had it installed in my Ipad with wifi network analyzer. I enjoyed using my EA2700 because I can get a good signal and constant download speed.

  • Poor signal htc one m8

Very poor signal Htc one M8. started about 3 weeks ago. per customer service at Verizon a tree or bird is the cause of my issue. Not the only one with this issue in my area. Any thoughts or suggestions. Thinking of leaving Verizon wireless to another carrier.

I apologize for the issues, tecanic1. However, being in a pocket of an extended network can be why the data and service can fluctuate. Have you tried removing and reinserting the sim card to reset your connection? If not, just that a try and also confirm the exact zip could of where you're located besides the 01520.

  • Broadband - poor signal in certain rooms at home.

    Hi,
Hoping you can help? We have a BT home hub 4.0 type A and use broadband regularly at home. Our home is in essence 'L' shaped and living in an old cottage with thick walls we really struggle for signal in specifically 2 rooms (each at the end of the 'L' shape) I want to increase the signal in these rooms but don't know how to?
I've seen the plug in adapters but worry how efficient they will be in an old build with old wiring? I've tried reading on the Internet but get a little lost - would anyone be able to offer some suggestions?? In these rooms I only need wifi signal for mobile devises, no hi-tech computers for gaming etc!!
I've tried moving the hub - but the result is always the same just different rooms have poor signal.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Canon MP620 poor signal and slow printing

Hi, I have a Mac Pro which is hooked directly up to my Time Capsule. I also have a Canon MP620 which is in another room. It communicates with my Time Capsule wireless and allows all my computers to print to it. My Canon MP620 has been working perfectly for a couple of months without any issues.
recently my wireless computers (3 PC's) which are upstairs were having slower then normal internet. It wasn't that much slower but I noticed that when I went to youtube to watch a video, the video continuously stopped.
My mom's computer was the worst though. The internet was very slow, pages took a very long time to load, similar to being on a 56k modem. Sometimes it was getting 1 mbps.
This would be intermittent though, sometimes the internet would be fast and other times it wouldn't be slow and sometimes my mom wouldn't be able to get on the internet.
I was having no problems printing to my Canon MP620 from any computer, it was instantaneous. To try to fix the internet for my mom's computer I tried changing the network password. So I had to go on each of my PC's and reconnect with the new Network Password.
But I couldn't print to my Canon MP620. It was labeled as inactive. I believe that changing the network password caused the printer to not be recognized by my Time Capsule. I unplugged my Printer and hooked it directly up to my Mac Pro like I did months ago.
I then put the Setup CD in, followed the onscreen instructions, It then asked me for my Network password which I gave it, it then asked me to unplug the printer and place it where it's going to stay. It then took 2 minutes to check the signal connection.
When it was done it said the signal was poor, it said that it could print but it may be slow. I'm confused why it was getting a poor signal. The printer is located in the same place that it's been for a couple of months.
When I first setup the Canon MP620 it had an excellent signal. I can print to the printer but it's very slow. Printing takes a long time for each page. I'm really frustrated, please help.

This is more of an Airport issue than a printing issue. Printers require a good connection because a lot of data is being sent, so it's to be expected that a poor connection will result in slower printing.
The reason for the sudden drop in connection quality could be radio interference. Perhaps someone in your neighborhood is using a wireless phone that interferes, or a microwave could interfere. Try to change the Time Capsule to a different channel (from within Airport Utility).

  • WAP200E and WAP200 as repeaters, external antennas, poor signal

I am having some weird things happen...
I have setup a WAP200E external w/o optional antenna and using (2) WAP200 internal units in separate buildings setup as repeaters.  I have added a external
Yagi 10Dbi directional antenna to both repeaters with short cables and using the standard antenna for the internal wireless needs.
Both buildings are about 200' line of sight from the WAP200E with a angle of less then 45 degrees from the WAP200E,
I am getting a signal that continually jumps from 20% - 60% Channel keep changing etc...  looks like a typically poor signal connection
I am able to access the internet from either repeater, but not reliably
    Question 1: External Antenna....
I was going to install a similar external Yagi antenna on WAP200E but I was reading that the external antenna in turned on automatically when the WAP200E
senses a antenna. Cisco only certifies one particular antenna to connect to the WAP200E and that is the  HGA9N which is a 9DBI omni directional antenna
I would much rather use a directional antenna, but I was reading that the WAP200E may not reconize any other antenna's, plus I cant find any way to determine if the WAP200E actually turns on the external antenna.   Does anyone have any experience using the WAP200E with external antennas?
    Question 2:
    SSID's on repeaters
On the WAP200E and WAP200 units, It show that that repeaters can have unique SSID's I tested them using the same SSID as the A/P and also with unique SSID's  Which approach would be the more reliable?
    Question 3:
    Freq Channels setting:
Typically I would set the channel to be fixed on all three units to keep them from hopping from channel to channel. Is my logic correct?
Is there any way to determine which channel is the best, beside trial and error?
Also, can I lock the speed to a slower setting to help improve reliability?
    Question 4:
    Bridging:
I was considering setting up one of the repeaters as a bridge can the WAP200E A/P handle communicating with a bridge and a repeater at the same time?
Does anyone have any experience using these as bridges?  I see a few issues online regarding briging with these units
Wireless is tough enough, but flakey wireless product can make you wish had a wire
Firmware... 1.20 on the WAP200E A/P unit.. I guess I will try 1.20a but the blogs say it doesnt matter
Firmware on the WAP200 unit is unknown at the moment
    Thanks in advance

    Update...
After speaking with Linksys support staff, they informed me that the antenna jacks on the WAP200 are slightly different
One jack is TX & RX and the other jack is RX only...
It is not documented or labeled as such on the device.
The support person told me it was the right jack when facing the rear of the unit with the network jack facing you. but this is the way I
had it configured... so for giggles I swapped the antenna jacks and presto it works fine
    Many thanks
    Bob
