Poor sound with X-Fi Titanium and Z-5500

Holy crap.. I'm playing cd's and the sound is horrible in entertainment mode. Massi've bass clipping and this is on low volume. It sounds a little better in gaming mode but not the greatest. When I do a speaker in THX that even sounds like crap but sounds a little better in "ent. mode speaker test".
UT3 Sounds like crap as well.. especially explosions.

Welcome to my hell. ?I have the same speakers but with the Fatality Platinum's. ?Using Vista x64. ?I can't get DTS or DD to work under any configuration. ?Using both TOS-Link to the speakers for movie usage, and the analog 3-cable for gaming, etc.
?You might want to try using the analog cables, especially for gaming (EAX effects) and music and set the speakers to 6Ch direct. ?Set the bass crossover to 80hz, and make sure that the bass is set to <50% in the Creative Console or it will sound like garbage. ?

  • SOUND MUTING WITH XFI FATALITY TITANIUM AND WINDOWS 7

5SOUND MUTING WITH XFI FATALITY TITANIUM AND WINDOWS 7z Ok sorry if this hasbeen covered before but I searched and couldn't find it so here goes:
I have a two month old XFI FATALTY TITANIUM CARD WITH THE FRONT PANEL BREAKOUT BOX.
It showed up staright away as a hi fi device and the optical output when selected works ok I dunno about surround sound it simply plays great stereo through my Arcam DAC connected up to my stereo.
Problems began when I decided to install the Creative Software. What happens i sit plays for maybe o mins then mutes also I primarily use i tunes and it wont play anything until a few seconds after the music starts.
This is just on optical out if I use standard phono to 3.5mm jack its fine.
What puzzles me is why this happens when using the creative software ? Reverting back to the pre creative software it plays fine I would just like to take advantage of the various functions suplied with creative software?
Any ideas please. FWIW I Completely deinstalled the card and installed? abasic CMI 8738 card and that does the same so maybe its windows 7
Oh spec wise Windows 7 32 bit
    4GB RAM
    Asus MOBO

Weird... I changed nothing and yeterday it worked...
I just understand this, but what the hell?

  • Distorted / choppy recorded sound with Audigy 2 ZS and Vista 64-bit

Hi, I wonder if anybody has any idea of why this issue is happening. First let me give you my PC specs:
    CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 940 @ 3.0 GHz
    Mobo: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 rev. 2.0
    Graphics: 2 x BFG GeForce 8800 GT 52MB
    RAM: 4 x GB G.Skill PC6400 @ 800 MHz
Sound: Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS
TV Tuner:? Hauppauge WinTV PVC PCI II (26xxx)
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP
?So here's the deal. I have no problems whatsoever with audio playback with this sound card. The issue I am having is while recording sound with it. When I record my voice via a Microphone with the Windows Sound Recorder and then play it back, my voice sounds very choppy. It sounds as if I was talking in front of a fan. The same happens with any program I try to use. If I use Audacity to record sound, the playback is also distorted / choppy. The main problem is with Skype, as I cannot use it to talk to people because they cannot understand what I'm saying because of the issue. Does anybody has any ideas why this happens? My PC is a dual boot PC with Vista 64-bit and XP 32-bit, and this issue only happens with Vista. Sound recorded plays back fine under Windows XP.
I am using the latest drivers available for this card from the Creative site.
    I'd appreciate your help,
    Daniel

A little bit off topic here, but 64bit does not mean more performance at all lol.
Sure, but there are in some cases drastic performence diferences. Under a fresh installed Vista X64 i have less CPU usage, as under 32 bit. But of course X64 uses more RAM (some tasks are double 32 and 64 bit). But the main reason I have more performence is, that the games I often play, get almost a boost. Dont ask me why, but under 64 bit EAW and FOC have the same FPS as under 32 bit. But under X64 I use a bit more Details and a higher resolution. (both are 32 bit games, so its a bit funy )?______________________?Sure there are other ways to install the drivers. But if some Setup dosent work, the first thing I try is to get it via Divice Management. And as this worked for me, I dont waste time to try other methods (Had bad experience, you can break the driver faster than install it *G*)?______________________?Some Questions I have left (after a few hours undr X64 with Creative Drivers):?Could it be, that the driver causes sometimes havy CPU usage?Could it also be, that the driver causes some lags, after you copy a file (the end sound, copy is finihed, but takes more time for "final finish", than without the drivers) - I know that Vista has some problems, on some PCs with copy, and that MS has an inoficial Patch (but dosent help for my PC so far)

  • No sound with Live! 24bit and Boston Digital BA735 speak

I can get no sound with Soundblaster Li've! 24bit PCI card and Boston Digital BA735 speakers. Other speakers work. The Boston are 2. speakers (with subwoofer) from an old Gateway I have. Tried digital output only and without digital output only checked but no luck.

hey bro. today i had the same problem you have, with the same speakers and all. and thanks to your post, it somehow inspired me to figure it out. so this is what you do:
) make sure your sound card is set to digital output. if you dont know how to do this, follow the windows help program.
    2) go to gateway support website at http://support.gateway.com/support/d...0406&type=0096 and download the Digital Soundblaster Li've basic driver (752042.exe) near the bottom.
    3) double click the icon once it downloads and it will do its thing
good luck dawg and thanks for your ingenius question

  • Creative Sound blaster X-Fi Titanium and Logitech z-5500 5.1 speakers

    Hi All:
I have had the Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium and Logitech z-5500 connected to my HTPC system for some time now. I have the two connected with analog cables and an optical cable. Unfortunately, I have never been able to set the optical connection working. The only mode the speakers will work in is analog.
Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions regarding this?
    Thanks,
    Harold

I have the same card and the same speaker.
You need to enable DTS or DDL encoder in the Creative Control Panel.
Otherwise you can play only native digital track like DTS or DDL from DVDs or BDs (in this case you MUST select Digital output device as the default device in the windows audio control panel)..

  • Poor sound with my Satellite M40-230

I just bought my notebook M40-230 and when play music the sound is very poor and bad. It is common or there is a problem with my speakers?

    Hello
Please go to Toshiba download site and install the newest sound driver. If there is some clicking noise check also Sound cards power mode. Set it please to No Power Savings.
You can find it in Control panel under SoundMAX.

  • No sound with Audigy 2 ZS and WinFast PVR softwa

Hi! I run Windows Vista build 5744 and WinFast PVR software with WinFast PVR 2000 tv tuner, the problem is, when I run li've tv I can`t get li've sound just when I record, it`s recording with sound. In Vista Media Center it`s all ok.
    Help please!

Still no reply? I d like to make it straight. My SB Audigy 2 ZS is connected through analog to creative 5. speaker system. The speakers are calibrated so I can hear surround music in media players or in All games which supports EAX. (e.g. Doom3, Half-Life 2). The only problem I have with good-old Diablo 2. The game supports Dolby Surround ( Pro-logic?) and EAX2. I enabled 3D sound and environmental Effects but I hear sound only from front speakers (L+F, center, subw). The rear speakers are quiet. Do you have any expirience with this issue? Do I need an external decoder through SPDIF for DD surround? The cinematics are encoded in dolby surround so Audigy might not to recognize it's Too many questions...
The Blizzard support is not replying..

  • Instability and Poor Performance with 11 11/11 and 11.1

I've upgraded an OpenSolaris install to Solaris 11.1 over time and ever since I hit Solaris 11 11/11 and Solaris 11.1 my system has been unstable and slow (especially ZFS and GDM (which I had to disable in 11/11.1 because it was using too much CPU)). Whenever I shut down in Solaris 11/11.1 it causes a kernel panic. I run this command to shutdown:
    /usr/sbin/shutdown -y -g 60 -i 5
and it causes this (then the system auto-restarts -- it never completes the shutdown):

What could be causing all these issues -- why are the OpenSolaris and Solaris 11 Express installs faster/more stable? Is it a hardware incompatibility issue? How can I determine the root cause and fix it?
    Thanks.
Edited by: RavenShadow on Feb 10, 2013 10:17 AM

Alan, if the cause is a 5400 RPM drive, I'm not sure why when I boot into my older BEs for Opensolaris/Solaris 11 Express/OpenIndiana I see much better ZFS performance. After I upgraded to 11.1 I noticed slowness and went back to my old Boot Environments and generated the dd read/write speeds I put in the top post, so it's not like any of the hardware changed during that hour I was bench marking between BEs nor did the amount of space used in my zpool change (it is mostly empty and I deleted everything that I wrote with dd after each test).

  • Poor performance with 100,000+ songs and 20+ smart playlists

Collecting music is my thing. I buy and rip a dozen CDs a week in both Apple Lossless and AAC format. I listen to Apple Lossless on my home systems and sync the AAC versions to my iPhone for car listening.
I have the fastest computer Apple has ever made, an 8-core 3.2ghz Xeon Mac Pro. I have multiple eSATA 1.5TB drives with a RocketRaid Mini-SAS to PCI Express SATA II controller. My iTunes directory and music are all on external drives.
Problem is, whenever I'm tagging tracks, deleting tracks, or even just changing the name of a song, I constantly get the spinning beach ball for a couple of seconds before control returns to me. This is highly annoying. I understand with every change, iTunes probably has to check to update all my Smart Playlists (I need to keep Live Updating turned on), but with an 8-core Xeon, why is this an issue? This machine can edit HD video but can't handle a big chunk of text processing? Is iTunes not multi-threaded to use all 8 cores?
If anyone can help me speed up my process, I would save probably an hour a day.

    hello
i dont have an answer to the question since i am struggeling with a similar problem. my library is on an external FW 800, 500 GB+. I have done some test and i found that itunes never uses more than 20% of my CPU power, even if itunes is all the OS is handling.
so my conclusion is, that the priority level is not high enough, cos i believe as you also prove with your mac pro machine, the power isnt the issue, but the priority set for the CPU to handle itunes.
i read that the only way to change prio levels in os x is to use smtg called "renice" and fool around in terminal. i am too novice to try anything like that, so i m left with the beachball and hope for an itunes pro or a support for large libs in an update
    cheers

  • NO SOUND with iMAC 24 - Please help

I have tried everything.........searched for drivers, everything, installed boot camp drivers from the CD numerous times.........I can't get rid of the ?pci device that shows up in the device manager. I am using windows xp sp3. The ? still shows up in the device list and I have no sound............everything else is perfect and great, but can't get sound!!!!!!!! I tried to update driver from realtek and sigmatel from the location on the hard drive and CD and no help. I DLed new drivers from realtek, no help..............does anyone know??????????

For those that are interested, this DOES work, as I have just tried this using SP3...........this is from another forum:
    http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=490
Basicly, download the file at the bottom of the page, unzip, go to Device Manager, right click the yellow (?) PCI driver, mark to select your own location and direct it to where you unzipped your file. That's it. UAA driver should be found and you should be able to hear sound.
If not yet, try now to re-install your audio drivers, and it should work. (if on mac, that means re-install boot camp drivers).
When doing the above, if it asks about a missing file, then point to where you just unzipped everything, it should be there, as it was for me. And, finally, in device manager, I still had one more issue for "audio device on high definition BUS" AFTER i corrected the PCI. To fix this, in device manager, I simply selected UPDATE DRIVER and use the MAC CD (or BOOTCAMP) and reinstalled the drivers and all worked fine after...................
I now have sound with my IMAC 24in and Windows XP SP3 (yes, i don't want to use much of XP at all, but it's nice to have............
Enjoy and let me know if this works or if you have issues, I would love to actually try and help...........

  • No Mic Sound with Pulseaudio, works fine with Alsa.

Have a Acer Aspire One D225E that I've set up with Gnome 3. Everything seems to be working except I'm not getting any sound out of my microphone. I've messed around with the sound settings in the gnome settings app with no success. Using alsamixer, I've made sure the mic channel is unmuted.
I'm able to record sound with Audacity using Alsa and play it back fine. When I switch to pulseaudio however, I get nothing. This wouldn't be a problem, except skype only allows you to use pulseaudio to record if you have that installed.
I've checked the wiki troubleshooting section on Pulseaudio and found the section on Acer Aspires, but solutions in the link led to a dead end. Nothing has worked so far that I've tried.

I've been struggling for months, but still no answer. None of the volume tweaking tricks work, obviously, and I couldn't find any useful answers in the PA mailing list.

  • How to combine sound with video to an AVI Using IMAQ?

I need to combine sound with video I capture and write it out as an AVI. Is there anyway in Labview to combine sound with and AVI? Or an easy to use third party product?

    Hello,
The AVI tools that are provided with Vision allow for data to be added to your video.  Sound information can be stored this way, but if you are looking for a way to add audio support to your video (such that it will play the sound file when the video is played in Windows Media Player or other applications) you may want to look into finding a shareware or freeware product that can accomplish this.  LabVIEW does not have tools specifically targetted to this operation.
    Good luck,
    Robert

  • No sound with flashplayer

I have tried all suggestions provided by nviel which seemed to be along the right track but I still have no sound with flashplayer using IE8 and Vista Home Premium. My regedit settings are correct when I go back thru them. Adobe's site didn't want me to go back to flashplayer 9 that was fully functional. I have no problem loading the program which seems to be another common problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times!!!

I did have sound from all speakers not long ago but now sound is limited to the main/front outs.  Using realtek alc888.  As usual enabling environment effects/echo makes sound come from all other speakers but I have never liked any of the effects/echo.  Usually have at least three sets of speakers hooked up at all times and they all work with other applications as they used to all work with flash???
This happens in both firefox and IE7.
My main front outs are hooked up to the "big stereo" which are not on all the time and would really like to get sound from the side and rear speakers again.
This may be a windows update problem too but I am not sure???

  • Poor Sound 800w with BT3030

I just got a BT3030 for listening to mp3s and streaming radio on my 800w.  The sound is tinny and 'digitally'.  I have tried this on another 800w and it sounds poor there too.  I then tried the BT3030 with my old 700wx and it sounds fine-- could be louder, but fine.
Is this just a problem with the 800w or is this 6.1 or what?  No adapter for (real) headphones and now poor sound via BT?  Should I have purchased the Mogul?
Any registry tweaks for this?  Anything?
    Thanks,
