Poor video/audio quality

I am new to iChat and just started using it with my sisters. We all have AIM account, they both have PC and have been using Windows Live without problems. On the AIM account the video quality is very poor for all of us and audio is mostly not there. I have made some adjustments in Quicktime and in iChat and it still hasn't help. Any other ideas.

Try limiting the bandwidth of your video connection. To do this click the camera beside your name in iChat and then select preferences in the video display. There you can limit your bandwidth to the appropriate amount. This will help with the compression and sending of video over the network.

I have a Celeron 1.7, 20 and 60 gig hd at 7200 rpm, 512M of ram. My capture is of very poor quality. I have used the MSI software and also Virtual Dub. Still poor video capture quality. Anyone tell me what I can do or how to do this right?

If you use a compressing codec in real time, you need lotsa CPU.
Try using a lossless codec such as Huffyuv (you'll need lotsa disk) for the real time capture and then compress afterwards.

  • Poor imported audio quality in Captivate 4

    Hi Everyone,
I'm having some serious audio quality issues with Captivate 4.  I'm recording my audio in Audacity and importing it into Captivate.   The audio sounds great in Audacity, Windows Media Player, iTunes, and everything else I've tested it in.  However, once I import it into Captivate and press play, it sounds horrible.  It's thin, tinny, and robotic.  The degradation in quality is considerable.  I've tried recording my audio as both .mp3s and .wavs, but they both sound bad once imported.  I've also downloaded all of the available patches, including the patch specifically designed to address poor audio quality in Captivate 4.  I've tinkered with every audio setting I can find.  No luck.  I have noticed that the shorter/smaller audio files are less garbled, and really short files are sometimes not garbled at all.  I would record directly into Captivate, but the audio sounds even worse when I do that.  Anyone have any idea how I can remedy this situation?  Just for background info, I'm running Captivate 4 on a macbook running XP via parallels.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I responded here in the forums because I figure other people might need this info as well.
    In Audacity, I go to:
Preferences -> Quality -> Default Sample Format and set it to 16 bit.
    Then click OK.
When you record new audio tracks, they should automatically be set to 16 bit.
    Does that help?

  • Who is suppose to Fix the Poor Streaming Audio quality?

    Just a quick question
Who is suppose to fix the bad sounding streaming audio quality?
This this something Google / Verizon / Motorola will fix or is this left for the developers to fix?
I can not stand telling my phone not to update but I cant said the poor audio quality more!!!!
    Someone fix this please

I installed 2.2 on the 1st Droid replacement they gave me- no apps, wallpapers, etc were installed since the phone was updated to 2.2 straight out of the box. The battery level was almost full before install. Upon installing 2.2, the battery could not hold a charge within 10 minutes. On the 2nd Droid replacement, I took the same battery that had indicated a 5% battery level and put it into the new replacement (which was on 2.1), and it immediately read as 70%.
I agree that some apps may cause a conflict, however in my case Froyo was clearly the culprit....so to assume that all these problems are self-inflicted is **bleep**.

Exactly, and since the phones are physically identical, that tells me all these problems being reported are self-inflicted - ie; almost surely a result of an installed app, and not the phone itself.  That's the only variable, right?

  • IPhone 5 Poor Headphone Audio Quality

I got my iPhone 5 a few days ago and I must say the sound I'm getting from my iPhone 5 to my headphones is pure garbage.
I use Beats By Dre heaphones and when I listen to music on my Mac and other devices the audio quality is great, but when I listen to music from my iPhone 5 to my headphones, I hear excessive rattling over the vocals of the music I listen to. I'm assuming it might be the Music app's fault, since I listen to songs from the YouTube App as crystal clear as I do from my Mac from iTunes. I have the same problem with my EarPods: They sound great on anything but my iPhone 5 Music app. Is there any fix possible? Is there any Music app alternative I can try? I'm tired of searching for the songs I want to hear on YouTube everytime to get good sound quality...In short:
Sound quality from the Music app: Really poor quality, I can't stand it.
Sound quality from anywhere else on my iPhone: Crystal Clear
Does anyone get the same problem/complaint from their iPhone 5's?
Side Note: I do purchase my music from iTunes, so I should get good sound quality.

Hey, I recently discovered that when I purchase music from iTunes directly to my iPhone, the sound I get is crystal clear. Do the test with any song: Listen to it before downloading the song from iTunes > Delete it > Download from iTunes from your iPhone > Listen again.
The problem is that not all my music is from iTunes, most of my music comes from CDs. Another thing I must point out is that I can't figure out whether to blame the new Lightning Connector or iTunes from my Mac, since I thought Wi-Fi Sync would solve the problem but I see no changes at all with the music I didn't purchase from my iPhone 5

  • Poor video recording quality with Presenter 9

    I'm trialling Presenter 9 and Captivate 7.
I have a Compaq CQ61-320SA latop with a 2.2 Ghz dual core processor and 8 Gb RAM. It's 3 or 4 years old. The Display Adaptor entry in Device Manager says it has Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family (Microsoft) and the driver is up to date. (I should say that HP's product spec page for my laptop says that 'Video Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G which confuses me as Device manager is listing it as Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family?)
When I record full screen in Presenter (it seems you are restricted to full screen recording in Presenter, unlike in Captivate), the resulting MP4 is rendered in high quality. The fonts in the video look nice and sharp. However, if I import the video into Powerpoint with the Adobe Presenter add in and then publish it to a folder on my PC with the 'lossless' setting and then click on the file 'index.html' the playback quality in my browser (Internet Explorer 11) is much lower. The fonts look 'blocky'.
I don't think it can be PC specification because if I record full screen in Captivate 7 and import the MP4 file into a new project and publish it, the quality of the published slide is great. (Again, I click on  the 'index.html' file to play the published video).
Does this mean that Presenter is not as good as Captivate in terms of its video recording quality? Are the encoding engines different?
I love the webcam PIP functionality and simplicity of Presenter but the seemingly low video quality versus Captivate is an issue for me.
    Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated.
    Peter

After playing with Presenter more, I've come to the conclusion that the degradation in quality from the original MP4 video file (that Presenter generates with its video creator tool) to the reduced quality after importing the MP4 into PowerPoint and publishing the course to HTML is probably due to a scaling issue. I've read elsewhere on this forum and on the Camtasia forum that whenever you re-scale a video, you lose clarity. The fact is that Presenter only allows recording of the entitre screen. When you import a full screen recording into a PowerPoint slide, because the slide itself is of a size lower than full screen, the original full screen dimension in the video is scaled down.
I'm thinking that the higher specification graphics card in the new laptop I talked about in the previous post produces a higher quality MP4 video in the first place so that the effect of the scaling down when imported into PowerPoint is more acceptable.
    Any comments?
    Peter

  • Poor iChat audio quality

When my friend and I use FaceTime on our Macs the sound quality is pretty good, but when we video chat on iChat the sound quality is pretty poor, muffled. We've tried limiting bandwidth and stuff but that didn't help, any ideas? Also, when just using audio chat, the sound is much better

    Hi,
iChat takes the setting from System Preferences > Sound > Input as the volume you send to your Buddy.
Ideally this needs to move the Blue response bar to at least Half Way (preferably 3/4s) but not bang in to the right hand end.

  • RTP, synchronize video/audio, quality parameters

    Hello.
i am starting with a project and i dont know how to start.
The goal of the project is to send a video from and url or video or camera from A to B, send an audio from C to B. B joined the video and the audio and send to D that is the final client. Furthermore, i have to know information about the packets that A and C send to B and B send to D, and the packets received by D. I have to get a way to compare the quality of the video and audio sent and the quality of the video and audio received by the final client D.
I also want that when another client E ask for the same video to B he receive the same packets in real time than the other client D.
Can anybody help me? Should i use RTP? How could i get quality parameters about each packet received and sent by the client and provider? How can i synchronize the video and the audio received by B and send it in real time to the final client?
    Thank u very much.

    footmaniac wrote:
Then, can't I synchronize the video and audio with the timestamp of each frame with JMF? the final client will receive the audio and video not synchronize then... No, because the timestamps are transmission time of the data packet. You can synchronize by those, sure, but that'll just make it so that they are syncronized based on when they were transmitted, not based on media time or link-up markers or anything.
An another question, for example, i run AVTransmitt2 and it opens an RTP conection waiting for a request. If nobody requests then it doesnt start with the tranmission of the video. Well, then i run AVReceive2 and the transmission of the video starts. then i run another AVReceive2 and i want that if the first AvReceive2 is still receiving the video then the second AVreceive2 receives the same. And if the first AvReceive2 has received the whole video... the second AvReceive2 receive the beginning of the video. Using the same instance of AvTransmit2.You can't even dynamiclly add new targets once you start your RTP session, so, it's impossible to do that using the "same instance" of any class. Once you start broadcasting to the first AVReceive2, the second one needs its own instance of AVTRansmit2...and you can start up the video it's receiving wherever you want, so you could just make it start where the other instance is currently broadcasting.

  • Video Audio Quality

after updating to os5 my bb recording video got affected, everytime i record video, i need to shout so that it will be clear when i replay it.

macbook pro will indeed have a higher rez movie than iphone.
but the iphone is probably easier to just hook up quick.
    (and yes, i have both)

  • Poor video/screen quality

Three days ago the screen resolution on my macbook pro 17" reduced dramatically. Prior to logging in the screen resolution appears okay, but once logged in the screen reverts to blotchy text and graphics.
Has anyone had this problem? What was to solution?

    Welcome to the Forums!
You are probably zoomed in. Go to System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing tab and turn off Zoom. If it's already off, hold down the ctrl key and drag two fingers down your trackpad (ctrl-scroll is another zoom method, separate from Universal Access).
Hope this helps, but if not, post back.

  • Very poor video quality after transcoding in Adobe Encore CS5.1

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I have very poor video quality after transcoding the video file (MPEG) in  Adobe Encore CS5.1. Below you see my used settings in my filmproject.
The problem exists after transcoding in Adobe Encore CS5.1. I checked all steps and found out that there is no problem until transcoding. My exported file  in MPEG has very good video and audio quality.
    Facts:
    1. Camcorder: Panasonic AG-AC160AEJ
Operating System : Windows 7, 64 Bit, Ultimate edition
    Source files: MTS files
    Recording settings (clip settings):
    Type: MPEG Movie
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Frame Rate: 25,00
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,0
    2. Sequence settings in Premiere Pro
Sequence was created from Clip directly with settings above.
    3. Exporting settings in Adobe Premiere Pro:
Match sequence settings was activated. Now other changes were set.
    4. Exported File:
    Video
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Data Transfer Rate: 25920 kBit / s
    Frame rate: 25
    Audio:
    Bit rate: 384 kBit / s
    Channels: 2 (stereo)
    Frequence: 48 kHz
    5. Transcoding settings in Adobe Encore:
I used different transcoding settings such as automatic DVD Transcoding, CBR and VBR.I also set “use maximum render quality”. But all results were always the same: very poor quality.
Why does the encore transcoding cause such bad video quality?
How can I solve this problem?
    Please help me soon.
    Best regards.

    Hi Ann,
    1) I did not only „Automatic (based on source)“ options in my tests, but also many other customized options.
The results are very poor. I have done a new test with the following settings. The result is also poor:
    Download link: http://www.klavierlehrer-bayern.de/download/test_mpeg2dvd_1.m2v
    Export Settings:
    Format: MPEG2-DVD
    Preset: Custom
Codec: MainConcept MPEG Video, Quality: 5
    Frame Rate: 25 fps
    Field Order: Upper
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Automatic (based on source)
    Render at Maximum Rate: [active]
    Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 2 pass
    Minimum Bitrate (Mbps): 5
    Target Bitrate (Mbps): 9
    Maximum Bitrate (Mbps): 9
    GOP Settings
    M Frames: 4
    N Frames: 12
    Use Maximum Render Quality: [active]
    Multiplexer: None
    2) Why shouldn’t I use the “Match Sequence Settings” in exporting? Because of the big output file size?
I used it and the results are very good as I expected:
    Download link: http://www.klavierlehrer-bayern.de/download/test_MatchSequenceSettings.mpeg
    Export Settings
    Match Sequence Settings [selected]
    1920 x 1080, 25 fps, Upper, Quality 50
    User Maximum Render Quality: [active]
    3) I tried also Dynamic Link in PremierePro (to Encore).
    The results are also poor.
    4) I will test also LagarithLoslessCodec and frameserving +DGMPGDec. But the video is vertical long drawn-ot.
I think I did not use it correctly.
    Regards

  • Poor audio quality in iChat

When I use iSight in Skype it delivers a way better audio quality in comparison with iChat Audio/Video chat. It's not that crisp, more like a poor telephone call. I wonder if I can change it or is it just an iChat nature?
My connection speed is 1 MB.
Straming in Quicktime changed to 1.5 MB
My Output/Input settings in Sound tab seems OK.
    I don't use firewall.

    Hi Sleeze,
I do not have Skype so I can not judge. Most of the posts I have read seem to suggest iChat Audio is better.
However Skype could have updated their app.
As long as iChat Bandwidth and Quicktime streaming setting in System Preferences are not capping your connection I can not see any other changes you can make. (unless you are "too far" from the camera). If the last is the case it may pay to adjust the volume in System Preferences > Sound >Input tab as this is the master for iChat. I am not sure if it is the same for Skype.

  • Audio Quality Poor in Windows, OK in MAC

I made a Quicktime movie from an iPhoto slideshow. It plays fine on the MAC, but in Windows the audio quality is poor. The high frequencies seem to be gone. (Perhaps the audio data are being undersampled?) Any ideas as to how I can improve the Windows performance?

Use the QuickTime Control Panel / Audio tab to check the settings used by the machine (sound out). You want to use 44100 Hz and 16 bit sample size.
Clicking on the "Devices" you can also edit other audio settings and properly configure them.
Updating audio drivers may also help and last resort is to use "Safe mode".

  • HF R52-POOR VIDEO QUALITY IN LOW LIGHT

HELLO,I'VE BEEN USING THE HF R52 FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW AND FOR THE MOST PART AM VERY HAPPY WITH IT..THE ONE ISSUE I'M HAVING IS WITH THE POOR VIDEO QUALITY IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS[NIGHT TIME OR INDOORS].THE RESULTS ARE "GRAINY" OR "FUZZY"..I'VE TRIED DIFFERENT SETTINGS WITH NO LUCK..WHEN I USE THE "LOW LIGHT"SETTING IT ACTUALLY SLOWS DOWN THE MOVIE LIKE ITS IN SLOW MOTION??  OUTSIDE IN THE SUNLIGHT IT LOOKS GREAT! DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS?? THANKS,ROB

The videos on WCSN are Windows Media Video's...320x240...not very good in quaintly to start with. If you make these video larger on the screen they are going to degrade...sorry

  • CC 2014 - Audio quality reduced from original video

I used to use Adobe Premiere Pro CC WITHOUT THE 2014 version FYI
    Let me explain:
-Back then i've been using Adobe Premire Pro CC peacefully using the GPU Mercury Playback thing activated. No problems AT ALL.
-After recording a TV program and getting the AVI File when finished recording, i tested that RAW file to hear it's audio and see the vid with Windows Media Player. Audio quality was perfect, clear and high as it should.
-Whenever i placed that AVI file into Premiere Pro CC (again, NO 2014 version), the audio and video played as it did in WMP.And when rendered/exported to a new file after some edits, it still kept the quality and all that stuff!
.....NOW, with Adobe Premiere CC 2014, there's a BIG PROBLEM....Whenever i place THAT SAME RAW FILE in CC 2014....The video played nicely,yeah...framerate stable etc...The problem is...that the Vid's AUDIO quality has been REDUCED and it's NOT CLEAR ANYMORE,and it happens to ALL THE PREVIOUS AVI FILES I HAVE!!!
What have adobe done?...Don't break what's working correctly!!!...Now i can't go back to Adobe Premiere CC WITHOUT THE 2014 version because of the new version STAYING FOREVER!
Please,HELP ME!!!. I can do a video of what i'm saying so you guys understand the situation.
    DV

To be honest,i have not a single clue about it...Never touched the Audio and Audio Hardware Settings. I tried searching online on google  for a solution and i think found a solution (This one had a similar? problem as mine) . I had to change an option in Settings->Audio Hardware-> ASIO Settings then something above 512 of the Buffer, aka 1024, though i've touched "default" and it changed to 2048. The problem disappeard.
But...i think i know why it might've been the problem after all..i think... What i did to begin with  was to put a "Bandicam" (It wasn't a TV show in the end,SORRY!) recording (in it's default settings) into CC 2014 and it's audio (in CC 2014) has been like muted ,though whenever you skip the timeline forward, you can hear "a huge distortion" that doesn't matches the recording's audio AT ALL (D**n,i played a music in the background while recording and, once finished recording i've played the vid i've made and the audio was there, perfect quality)... After that i wanted to "Mute the Bandicam's audio track" and put the song that should've played over it.. Then whenever i've played the vid to see how it looked like, that song i've placed over the "broken audio" GOT AFFECTED TOO... Perhaps it was just THE BANDICAM VIDEO'S AUDIO FAULT!!
(Though somehow i got lucky to ,from a random chance, to have that audio i've inserted manually to play and also render/export in it's correct quality...Weird!)
...Then i tought "Did Adobe screwed up?...". I've closed CC2014 100%,restarted the PC,opened CC 2014 , grabbed a DIFFERENT Video file ,this time from a TV Recording (this time,YES,TV,sorry)  and whenever i click the Play button in the preview...The audio played exactly as the original video did...I even tried placing that same song over it to see if it did distorted and didn't
...Perhaps i am doing something wrong now...or are some Adobe settings being changed like crazy without my aknowledge (or something) ?
    My PC is:
    Intel i5 2500K
    660GTX Ti OC 2GB (GIGABYTE/Nvidia)
    8GB DDR3 1333Mhz
    Windows 7 64bits Home Premium
    250GB SSD
    1TB HDD
    If there's something i should try out to see if the problem could be vanished FOREVER please let me know X_X;
