POP account requires password each time

After 10.4.6 update very time I open mail it requires entry of password to one of my three POP accounts (SBC.) Even though I have checked "remember this passowrd in my keychain" it has no effect.
This never happened before, nor does it affect my two other POP accounts on different servers. Any way to correct this?

Is your keychain unlocked? And is your keychain in a folder that you can write to?

  • How do I set mail to require password each time?

I can't get my mail account to ask for password on each access. How do I change that to ask for password each. time I access email?

    - Use webmail
    - What sort of works for the Mail app is to go to Setting>Mail and turn the mail accounts off. Then go to Settings>General>Restrictions and turn on the Restriction and prevents changing accounts.  To access mail you have to turn off the restriction and then turn the Mail account back on.

  • What's with having to change passwords each time one error is made entering it?

So I entered what I believe was the correct itunes store account password and it says invalid.  I try again and it suddenly locks me out, now I have to create an entirely new password (one that has not been used in over a YEAR) and a bunch of other restrictions on how many characters, what types of characters are allowed, where the characters can be placed (oh no, you can't have three characters the same together, no matter how long your password is.)
I understand the risks out there, and I understand Apple is doing what they consider is best for the customer.  But Appple, you really dropped the ball on this one.  There are many disappointed and frustrated customers, including newbies, who chose Apple with the understanding it was more friendly than the "Other" platforms out there.  ****, my government security isn't even this stringent!!  Lossen up Apple, you're not doing your customers any good furiating them with complex passwords.  Next you'll be expecting the general public to come up with their own password Algorithums!
This goes against the principal of Apple's reputation of making computers friendly for ALL users.
Listen, we know the risks. You make us agree to those internet inherant risks before we can use any of your products.  We need Apple to ease up the the stringent security measures a bit and find other non-invasive ways to protect its customers.
I was so frustrated, I might even go back to the "Other" camp.

On your MacBook Pro, you might check a few things:
Open System Preferences and click on Network
Click on your AirPort connection on the left to highlight it and then click on the Advanced tab at the lower right of the pane.
Make sure that there is a check mark next to "remember any network this computer has joined"
Also check to make sure that your network shows up in the Preferred Networks list and that it is listed at the top of any other networks you make have shown.
You would also want to make sure there were NOT check marks next to:
"Disconnect from any wireless networks when logging out" and
"Require Administrator password to control AirPort"

  • Have been advised by my email provider (recently blocked account requiring password reset) that they will only reset the password after a proven anti viru and malware scan has been done on ipad and iphone. Is this necessary and if so what do i use

Have been advised by my email provider (recently blocked account requiring password reset) that they will only reset the password after a proven anti virus and malware scan has been done on ipad and iphone. Is this necessary and if so what do i use

As KP has pointed out, there actually aren't any anti-virus programs in the App Store. There are a few that allow you to scan e-mail or stuff like that, and a few that provide you with information about malware and new threats for other systems. But none are available that can scan your iOS device for malware, because the security restrictions in iOS do not permit any apps to have that kind of access to anything. Which means that you also cannot be infected with a virus (unless you have jailbroken your device).
If your account got compromised, that had nothing whatsoever to do with your iPad. Someone simply hacked it remotely. Happens all the time. It's really amazing that, in this day and age, e-mail providers are so ignorant of technology and how their own systems get compromised that they would try to require you to run software that does not exist!

  • I have a Sirius subscription. Do I have to enter password each time I log in?

I have a Sirius subscription. Do I have to enter password each time I log in?

That would depend on the application you're using to access Sirius, I would presume. What application do you use?
If you're using just a web browser, I don't have a subscription to confirm but it does look like it would require the user name and password whenever you reconnect. Sirius support or a Sirius-releated forum might be able to provide additional information.
    Regards.

  • Problem with having to enter password each time to gain access to network.

Hi there. I have just setup an airport express——connected to our dsl modem——as our only wireless network in a small flat. We just have two computers connecting wirelessly: my macbook pro (10.5.7) and my wife's powerbook (10.4.11). A very simple setup.
A few changes I made, using airport utility: I changed the MAC Address Access Control to timed so that both of our computers are on the approved MAC address list with "everyday, all day" access.
I also made it a closed network. And I changed the WPA Group Key timeout to under 12 minutes.
Other than than I left the settings as-is.
I was able to get both of our notebooks connected properly and everything seemed dandy as we were both online.
Here's the problem: if I leave the network or power down (macbook pro), I'm told that my machine can't find the proper network once I boot back up. I have to manually enter the name of the network and enter the password each time in order to get access——then I'm back online again. My wife's powerbook, however, doesn't have this same problem. And I've saved the network's password to both our keychains, so I'm not sure why this is happening.
Any thoughts? I'd love to be able to simply power up and be connected like a normal human being.

I do not want to enter password each time I log on to my computer

    Hunter1744, welcome to the forum.
If you are using Win7, you can go into Start.  In the "Search programs and files" box at the bottom type "cmd" and hit Enter.  This will open a terminal window.  Type "netplwiz' next to the prompt and hit Enter.  This will bring up a box titled User Accounts.  Uncheck the box next to "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer."   It will ask for a Password and to verify the Password.  Once you do this, you should not have to logon with a Password in the future.

I'd think you have a Keychain problem (Keychain storing passwords and the likes).
When you are being asked, are you offered the checkbox, "Remember this password in my Keychain"? If so, check and see if it stops asking.

Firefox will ask for the Master Password on startup if it is needed on a page.<br />
This can be Sync or a web page that is (re)opened automatically and you have saved a name & password for this website.
You didn't confirm whether you are using Sync or not, so I don't know which of the two would apply.

  • MacBook Pro does not requiring password every time

My new MacBook Pro (Late 2013 Retina) does not requiring password every time (ver. 10.9.2).  It is set to require a password and it does most of the time but it often does not.  I have seen some posts of other people having this issue but have not seen any fix?

You are still under warranty.  Call Apple Care. Make sure you get a case number as all repairs have an additional 90 days of warranty.
#1 - You have 14 days from the date of purchase to return your computer with no questions asked.
#2 - You have 90 days of FREE phone tech support.
#3 - You have the standard one year Apple warranty.
#4 - If you've purchased an AppleCare Protection Plan, your warranty last for 3 years.   You can obtain AppleCare anytime up to the first year of the purchase of your computer.
Take FULL advantage of your warranty.  Posting on a message board should be done as a last resort and if you are out of warranty or Apple Care has expired.

  • Must I enter password each time I update an app

Must I enter my password each time I update an app

Yes.  That is how they know you are the one that bought the app in the first place.  Pretty basic security for you and them.  The good news is that once you enter it, it will remember for 15 min, so you can update others, or get new apps without needed to re input.
