Pop / Click Sound when mic plugged into iPad

Is anyone else having an issue with a faint 'pop' heard when using a mic to record audio into the ipad through the headphone jack?
I've tried using the iPhone earbuds w/ built-in mic and 3 different iRig Mics at the local music store - each time, the same result.
When I am using any audio recording program that accepts the mic input (Garageband, free iRig recorder, Vocalive, etc.) I hear a faint 'pop' every 20 seconds or so. It is pretty quiet compared to the audio input, but is loud enough to be heard when trying to record good quality audio.
At first I thought it was an issue with the iRig Mic but after testing with the iPhone earbuds/mic, it appears that the issue pops up whenever there is an input device plugged into the headphone jack.
Can anyone confirm or provide a suggestion for how to remedy this problem?
Cheers. Dale

Anyone?
I've confirmed a slight regular 'pop' or 'click' on my iPad2 every 20 secs or so whenever an input is used in the headphone jack. Can hear it when turned up high. Shouldnt be a processing power issue because I can replicate even in the simplest of recording programs without an additional processing.
Confirmed with iPhone earbuds w/ mic, with ampkit guitar interface and irig imic (x3 different ones at the store).
Frustrated because this negates using my ipad for recording purposes

  • My old 1st gen ipod touch wont turn on and makes a clicking sound when I plug it in.

My old 1st gen ipod touch wont turn on and makes a clicking sound when I plug it in. The ipod doesnt turn on when I plug it into the wall, even if I let it charge, and itunes won't recognize it. I have tried to reset it with the home and power buttons. Whats wrong and how can I fix it? I think it might be the memory or the battery. What could the clicking sound be related to? Thanks

Try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then try restoring the iPod.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
After that I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Pop/clicking sound when in 5.1 mode under Vista 32bit using the latest 2_18_0004 drive

I'm using S750 speaker system, very noticeable!!!!
I tried 7. mode, still pop/clicking sound!!!!! But no in stereo mode!!!!
It's long time for users that reported this issue, after Creative Labs released so many driver versions, this issue still not been
    corrected, it's really SHAME!!!!!
Hope this get worked out in next release!!!!!!
Hope this will never be heard in X-Fi 2 !!!!!!

X-FI 2 is the same failure as X-FI IN drivers hardware xfi is great, so if you buy the new x-fi2 there will be the same crappy drivers as you use now.
Anyway, Please post spec, Because this is a hard problem to solve many things can make the Sound to crackle.
PSU = To low Watts for a system can make the soundcard crackle,
=2, sharing power with other devices like hard drivers floppy drivers etc.
= Not goot psu enough, bad quality psu can make this beli've me i had the same problem
= Quality cables to the soundcard, use a different rail if that is possible.
Bios = check for bios updates. even if there is none information about creative, sometimes it can help BUT READ INSTRUCTIONS on how to do it and what the stakes are if you do it wrong, and read the forums about the new bios, not allways new bios is good. IF you are a Asus user you should know why.
GFX = Place the soundcard (PCI) away from the grphics card, if you got ex 4pci slots and gfx pci express use the last slot for soundcard, if that dosnt work try 3,2, etc. but futher away from the graphics card should prevent EMI
X-FI= check the power slot in soundcard check for bendings etc.
I had this issue fixed it with new psu, had no idea first but after my ASPIRE TRIO 520w cought fire and i changed it to Antec 620w it allmost dissapeard, then i checked the power slot in X-FI and it was bent outwards, after carefully bending it back the crackle dissapread.
Now im using Cooler Master Real Power 850emba and using a different rail for the soundcard.
Hope you solve it, best regards Commander

  • Bad clicking popping sound when macbook plugged into external speakers

I have a black MacBook Core Duo, a white Macbook Core 2 Duo, and a Macbook Pro Core Duo that are suddenly ALL exhibiting horrible behavior when plugged into external speakers using the 1/8th inch headphone output converted to RCA to connect to the speakers.
I have always known that sometime in the last year or 2, one of the OS updates introduced a popping noise when the audio system has been idle and then suddenly fires a sound again after being quiet for a while.
But now all 3 of these machines, all running 10.6.7 with all current available software updates are exhibiting a clicking / popping /crackling sound almost CONSTANTLY when hooked up to the same set of speakers I've had for years. I tested with other speakers just to make sure the noise is still there.
Every time someone goes on or offline in my ichat buddy list, the crackling noise that accompanies the typical buddy available/unavailable sound is extremely irritating.
Every time I hit the volume up or down button I hear the awful noise alone with the volume feedback sound. If I keep hitting volume up or down FAST repeatedly, the sound goes away. But the moment I stop doing anything for even 1-2 seconds, and then touch the volume up/down buttons again, the cracking sound returns.
I have no idea what software update introduced this problem or what the heck is going on. I have booted these machines from external drives with a fresh install of 10.6.7. I've tried 10.5.8. Nothing works.
It's like some kind of firmware has permanently screwed up the 1/8th inch output on all of these machines when hooked up to external speakers. And these are all completely different model laptops
I do not hear the noise through these laptops' internal speakers, or if I plug headphones directly into their headphone jacks.
I have had to install an M-Audio USB Micro onto my main laptop to use it's 1/8th inch stereo out to connect to my speakers in order to eliminate this horrible noise. But this should NOT be necessary and I am not satisfied with this fix as a permanent solution.
I'm astonished to find this problem on ALL THREE of these different laptops suddenly.
The Anti Pop program did not alleviate the problem. Please help. Apple please issue software fixes to get rid of these problems once and for all.

  • Popping / clicking sound when using headphones

I just got a new iMac and I've noticed when using headphones I get this popping or clicking noise at cerain times. If the computer doesn't produce sound for a while, it's like the audio driver "shuts down" and the headphones go very quiet, then when the computer has to make a sound, it makes a "pop" noise before it loads the new sound (regardless of the file or program used). Then I'll leave it for a minute or so, and it "pops" and the headphones go very silent (there was a slight static noise before). I don't get this happening when running the headphones through a USB audio card. Is this normal behaviour for Mac OS?

Looks like this is a software issue (in part at least). By installing this simple script:
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/29024/antipop
you can keep it from happening (more than once). The script keeps the audio system from shutting down, so you only get a pop on startup and that's it. I still don't know if this popping is normal behaviour or points to some faulty hardware.

I downloaded tv shows from iTunes onto my iPad, but when I plugged into my computer it erased them from the iPad and they didn't get transferred to the computer. How do I get them back?

First, is your iTunes account on your computer, the account you set up your iPad with and the one you sync regularly with?  If yes, just reconnect your iPad to your computer, via USB and open iTunes.  After your iPad syncs, and you see the message that it's OK to disconnect, don't disconnect.  Click once on the iPad from the left side of your iTunes screen.  This will open your iPad in iTunes.  You would then click on Videos and you'll see the TV shows you downloaded.  You can choose individual shows, or choose to sync all videos to your iPad.  After you've moved what you wanted back, click apply, then sync again and you should be fine.

When I plug my iPad Air into charge it bleeps constantly whereas in the past it just bleeped once then charged

    Hi Lindsay0810,
If you are having charging issues with your iPad, you may find the following article helpful. In particular, if you are having recurring beeps from your iPad when charging, you may want to check you cable connections and possibly try another cable/charger if available to see if the issue persists.

  • When I plug my iPad into my Mac it will not sync

When I plug my iPad into my Mac it will not sync and my iPad will not charge. I've used every chord that I own. In addition, I've plug other things into my Mac and they work fine. If I plug my iPad into the wall it charges.

Then it doesn't seem like its the cable then does it.
If the iPad isn't being recognized in iTunes, you can start with something very simple. Quit iTunes, reboot your iPad, restart your Mac and then try again.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If it still isn't being seen by iTunes, look for help here.

  • When I plug my iPad into a wall circuit and leave it for 18 hours the battery level only goes from 55% to 66% and then it quotes charging. Is this normal or do I have trouble with my adapter, it is the one that came with the iPad?

When I plug my Ipad into a wall circut it will not fully charge, It only charges up to 66% does anyone no why?

I can't tell you why it is doing this but it should not take anywhere near that long to recharge.
Try another power adapter if you have access to one - borrow one from a friend, try another wall socket, another cable ... take it to an Apple Store and let them try to charge it for you.
You can try resetting the iPad and see if that helps but I have my doubts - but it will not hurt anything either.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Your battery gauge may be giving you an incorrect reading - but I think that would be a long shot as well. How many hours of use do you get at 66%?
You can read this about the iPad battery and how to maintain and care for the battery. .

    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

  • When you plug your ipad into your computer is it meant to charge?

When you plug your ipad into your computer is it meant to charge ?

    Not necessarily...
    iPad Charging
"The fastest way to charge your iPad is with the included USB Power Adapter.
iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter.
When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge, but only when it's in sleep mode.
Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain."
