POP Email Inbox Not Synchronising

I have an iPhone 4 set up to synchronise with a BT Internet POP email account. The phone receives new email but it won't delete any messages from its Inbox even if I delete the messages from the BT online web client.
I have the following settings on the Advanced settings of the account:
Deleted Messages
Remove     After 1 day
Delete from server:
Never
My understanding is that these settings affect synchronisation only from the phone to the server and not the other way round. Is there something I am not doing, as my BT Account Inbox only has a couple of emails in it, but the phone has all the mail since I set the phone up?

Are you still having this issue setting up your Yahoo email? I see you were able to login to your Yahoo email on the computer. If the phone is still giving the same error, try clearing your cache. Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Email>Clear data/cache. 
For the Brew messages, that means you subscribed to Mobile Email on your last phone. The subscription never completely cancelled, so it is still trying to send you alerts thru SMS that you have a new message available. I have a tool available to remove these alerts. I will send you a PM requesting additional information so I can resolve this issue.

  • POP Email Account Not working after update to 1.1.1

    After I updated to 1.1.1, I noticed my email wasn't working quite right, so I did a complete restore, and in the process of setting everything back up, I can not get my personal pop email account to work. After creating a new account with the "Other" option, I enter all the correct information, and when I hit "save", I get this message: Secure Connection Failed, Certificate for "Personal" may be invalid.
    It then gives me the option to Cancel or Continue, but hitting continue just hangs. Any thoughts? It was working properly before the update, and my desktop client is still connecting and receiving emails, so nothing has changed on my ISP's end.

    Given that other posts mention two prompts: first that "certificate may be invalid" and second "would you like to connect without SSL?" (paraphrase), I decided to hit "continue" on the first dialog and see what happened in my case. After doing so, I was NOT prompted a second time, so it would SEEM that my SSL connection completed normally after all. For others in this circumstance who require/demand SSL, you may want to try continue on the first prompt to see if it just works.
    By all appearances, I still have a secure pipe to my email. It's a shame that this prompt and the results of "continue" aren't better at indicating what the actual issue is.
    Note that in my case, I'm probably prompted about the certificate because I don't have a globally-signed SSL cert. I am just using one that I created myself and imported into the Mac OS X keychain. This cert was sync'd beautifully (thank you Apple!) to my phone originally, and appears to still be working. A check of the mail prefs on the iphone still show both inbound/outbound mail to have SSL "on" so it doesn't appear to have been disabled by 1.1.1 or by my pressing "Continue".
    I believe that this 1.1.1 update was a deep enough update of the OS that it is merely warning me again (in an unfortunately cryptic way) that the certificate is not signed by global cert authorities. I think it did the same thing when I first set up the iPhone (1.0) but hasn't prompted me again like this on any updates since.

  • Option to add POP email acounts not available

    On my new BlackBerry Bold 9900 the option to add POP email accounts as described in the handbook is not availble. Only the option enterprise activation is provided. The BB is a none branded device and sold via AMAZON. OS 7.1 Paket 2061 (V7.1.0.714, Plattform 5.1.0.532) Is there a possbility to activate the POP email acount option, because I don't want the use push / enterprise mail.

    On BB10 models the client will poll for email on POP3 server at an interval you select.  When the email client finds email it downloads it do the device.   Depending, you might want to set a long interval (30 minutes or an hour) and then manually refresh if you should happen to want to check at any time in between.   You can set short intervals, if you want, and see what it does to battery life.
    On BBOS models (with BIS as described above) the BIS server is doing the polling, and it pushes the email to the handset.  The polling interval depends,  If the BIS is finding email on the server each time it polls, then it will tend to poll more frequently.  If it doesn't find email, it reverts to the default interval which is something like 15 minutes.   Some accounts are pushed as soon as email arrives, such as Windlows Live, or Outlook.com.

  • POP email does not work on Auto Navigation Email Messages

    I was told by BB that this was supposed to be fixed with the new update.  BB did not fix this!  You cannot recieve POP email on your auto navigation systems.  Mine is a 2013 Lexus 450H.  Does anyone have any feedback on this issue.
    Most of the email providers, ATT, Comcast, etc are POP email providers. 
    The Q10 does work with IMAP providers, but BB is ignoring half the email market!
    So this is a huge issue.

    Try creating a free email account with one of the other providers that are easy to setup on the iPhone. If you only see the problem with one account, it might be a restriction set by the email provider, maybe they only let you send/recieve on their network.

  • Email accounts not synchronising properly on iMac

    I have an iphone, ipad, macbook and imac that i use all the time.
    My icloud account is fine and syncronises between all my devices 100%. However, i have one other 'POP' account that doesn't.
    What i mean by this is, if i send an email from either the macbook, ipad or phone from this 'POP' account then all devices see in and out emails. However, if i send one from the imac it only goes on the imac sent box and none of the other devices.
    Also when i file an email from the inbox of this account on any of the 3 devices (macbook, ipad or phone) into sub folders (Which are stored on my Icloud account) then it goes from the inbox of the 3 devices but remains in the inbox of the Imac??

    I don't know what they do different on the iDevices, but that is the way POP works... on a Computer anyway, only the Inbox is dealt with from the Server.
    Does that account have an IMAP option?

    It sounds like you want to setup your COX email account as a POP account in Mail on your MacBook Pro, which is running OS X Mountain Lion.     I have one e-mail account that still seems to be based on the POP protocol rather than POP3. I cannot get Thunderbird to accept a POP account, it only offers POP3 or IMAP, there is no other option, as a result I cannot access the account through Thunderbird, Outlook on the other hand has no problem. How do I resolve this issue?

    Are you sure? POP3 is the current standard compliant and has been so for ages / years.
    What settings are you using in Outlook:
    Incoming Server name : ?
    Port: ?
    Connections Security : ?
    Authentication Method: ?
    What comes after the @ in your email address?

    As far as Snapz Pro X 2 functionality, some major backend Digital Rights Management changes enacted by Apple may be what is preventing you from recording movies you were previously able to record using our software.     Not possible.
    Email account mailboxes and messages are not included with the iPad's backup so if this were possible and the account was deleted and recreated on the iPad, kiss all the user created mailboxes and the messages within goodbye. The same when restoring the iPad with iTunes if wanted or needed.
    With an IMAP account, you can create additional server stored mailboxes for the account with the email client used on your computer for accessing the account or via webmail access for the account using a browser. All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account will be available automatically when accessing the account with the iPad's Mail application along with all server stored mailboxes kept synchronized with the server with each email application used to access the account. No mailboxes or messages are lost when deleting and recreating an IMAP account and the same when restoring the iPad with iTunes if wanted or needed since all mailboxes are stored on the server.

    I had set up Traveler and it worked perfectly for a week , till my E5-00 crashed on a low battery. Now, I am able to sync (SYNC NOW) with my Company's server but the emails are not diplayed either in the inbox or sent items! My calender and to-do is syncing though.
    Is there some setting which has to be changed to display email ?  I've tried removing and reinstalling Lotus Notes but no change.

    Sorry to hear about the problems with the email service. Have you setup an email client to "pop" your emails from the server to either your laptop, smart phone, or device ? If not configured correctly, it will download your messages from the server so you wont see them online anymore.

  • Just set up POP email account - only seeing inbox folder

    I have just set up a POP email account and it has found it successfully and downloaded all my inbox messages however I cannot see my "sent" messages or drafts and I also have a sub folder underneath the inbox which I cannot see.
    Do I have to manually set up each subfolder or does the Iphone not automatically see the same subfolders when it connects? Also every email stays showing as un-read even if it is read on the server, even when I refresh the Iphone it still says un-read. Do POP accounts not automatically sync with the server or is there something I can do to set this up or an APP that will do this? Please can anyone help?

    With POP email accounts, the mail 'lives' with the client, not on the server. So, Sent and Drafts on the iPhone will only contain messages sent from or being composed on the iPhone. Any subfolders set up in the mail client on your computer are only on that computer. You can pull messages from the server to the Inbox on the phone if the mail client is set to leave the messages on the server for a period of time, since from the iPhone's perspective they are new.
    POP is really designed for accessing your email only from one client. If you want to use several devices and access the same account, you are better off with an IMAP account, where all the mail 'lives' on the server.

    Insert your backup disc (or plug your external hd), then open Mail.
    In the File menu, click *Import Mailboxes* and follow the steps for a *Mail for Mac OS X* transfer.
    Navigate to your CD/DVD's or external HD's backup and hit "OK".
    This should create a new "Imported" folder in Mail with all your old messages in it, that you can then rearrange as you wish, creating new mailboxes etc.
