Pop email notification

Using pop email when I get a new email I get a notification that pops up with each new email that I can dismiss or read. Why do I get this message. I did the double tap and closed all open apps and it still happens.

You're welcome.
What don't you understand?
If you don't want a notification on the screen with a received email, turn it off.
Settings > Notifications > Mail.
Select the account.
Under Alert Style, select None.
If you want an alert on the screen but want it to go away automatically without having to do anything, select Banners for Alert Style.
If you want a Badge App iCon on the Mail app icon for received/unread mail, turn Badge App iCon on.

  • ICAL Email notification, stuck on communication with email server

    Hi,
I know there is a ton of of these iCAL issues...
I was able to get by some initial issues and now am stuck at the email notifications not able to send.
Sending updates to an external address starts this chain of attempts to contact the mail server to send out the update. It repeats the following two segments repeatedly.
    My cal error log shows:
    2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [-] [caldav_task] 2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [-] [calendarserver.sidecar.task#debug] Checking for tasks
    2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [-] [mailgateway] 2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [IMAP4DownloadProtocol,client] [twistedcaldav.mail.IMAP4DownloadFactory#debug] IMAP factory connection lost
    2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [-] [mailgateway] 2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [IMAP4DownloadProtocol,client] [twistedcaldav.mail.IMAP4DownloadFactory#debug] Scheduling next IMAP4 poll
    My mail access log shows:
    Sep 19 16:48:52 beta dovecot[3149]: pop3-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=<iCAL Server IP>, lip=<Mail Server IP>
    Sep 19 16:48:52 beta dovecot[3149]: auth(default): new auth connection: pid=20637
    Sep 19 16:53:42 beta dovecot[3149]: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=<iCAL Server IP>, lip=<Mail Server IP>
    Sep 19 16:53:42 beta dovecot[3149]: auth(default): new auth connection: pid=20639
The attempts to send notifications do not reach the SMTP.
My settings are correct in the notification settings (I created in OD and confirmed POP/IMAP/SMTP settings with mail clients), both POP/or IMAP (either don't work at this point) and SMTP are using SSL.
The keychains com.apple.servermgr_calendar and .invitations both list the same system account with the password populated. The only difference is that .invitations carries the FQDN after the username ([email protected])
I had seen with the default com.apple.calendarserver, it did more or less the same thing...
From what I could research, the "(no auth attempts)" seems to suggest the gateway or mail server is not accepting the method or has all methods of authentication closed... However this shouldn't be the case, both mail server and ical have SSL use set in their respective settings...
*(I understand that caldavd.plist has the option to hold a plain text password... however this is not currently in my caldavd.plist and I do not wish to use it. My mail server is set to only work with MD5 however... Issue perhaps?
Any advice so I can catch up to where everyone else is stuck at would be pretty cool!

I attempted to use com.apple.calendarserver again, but it does not authenticate at all on the mail server.
Both my created and the com.apple. seem to be stuck in only being able to authenticate in PLAIN. I have given in on this and enabled the PLAIN authentication. From here the server log said com.apple.calendarserver had the wrong authentication. I don't see how this can be the case... (the mail server is a OD replica itself)
So I went into WGM and merely re-pasted in what I had recorded onto the local account. The WGM goes on and on about how this com.apple.calendarserver is only a local account, but I don't see any way to make an OD account (I'm not sure if this is even critical) anyway so I'll leave it be.
So now both email and normal across-OD invitations function.
On invitation replies however I get this message in the mail access log:
    deliver(com.apple.calendarserver): Sep 26 02:54:12 Info: msgid=<[email protected]l.outsi dedomain.com>: saved mail to INBOX
    Sep 26 02:54:12 beta push_notify[2709]: error: <iq id='10003' to='[email protected]/push_notify' type='error' from='pubsub.beta.mydomain.com' xmlns='jabber:client'><pubsub xmlns='http://jabber.org/protocol/pubsub'><publish node='/Public/IMAP/beta.mydomain.com/portnum/Mailbox/C8BA4F7E-6E65-4C97-8BCC-BC 3D28FAFE4B'><item><plistfrag xmlns='plist-apple'/></item></publish></pubsub><error type='cancel' code='404'><remote-server-not-found xmlns='urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:xmpp-stanzas'/></error></iq>
Otherwise it seems the SMTP sees the invitation reply and regurgitates back to the com.apple.calendarserver mail... What happens to it from there is a mystery.

  • Disable email notification of changes of events in iCal?

I have a shared calendar that some of my colleagues subscribe to on iCal.  Whenever I make a time change to an event or add a new event on my shared iCal, one of my colleagues gets an email notification about it (sometimes he's getting 10 emails a day about my iCal).  Is this a setting I can change on my end or is it something that he needs to change. (BTW - I am not getting any of these emails)
    Thanks so much!
    Lauren

Hi Lauren.  I think I figured this out.
I share my calendar with my wife and two kids.  One kiddo was upset he got so many calendar changes.  The other didn't get any emails.  From what I found, your colleague needs to do this in iCloud (I hope this is how you share calendars or I'm wrong!).
Once your colleague logs in to his iCloud account and goes to his calendar, click on the green 'broadcast' icon to the right of YOUR calendar (your calendar should be listed on the far left side of his iCloud calendar window).  Once they do this, a pop-up window should appear and a check box at the bottom of the window says 'Email me when this calendar changes'.  Uncheck that and they shouldn't get any more emails when you change times on your calendar.  The downside is I don't think they'll get an email alert when you create an event as well.
    I hope this helps.

  • One Email Notification to Rule All Emails

Coming from a OG Moto Droid to Bionic so everything has been pretty thumbs up with this new phone.  I did notice what seems to be an oversite from the designers/coders.  If you sync a exchange email account and a POP email (like I do) or probably any two email accounts (except Gmail), all email (again except Gmail) gets assigned the same email notification ringtone.  This is pretty annoying on a phone that was delayed to market, and cost me $300.  Hopefully this is just an oversite by someone but I wanted to make sure I pointed this out in an official forum so that it can be fixed in future updates.
Of course if anyone has a solution I'm all ears...would love to hear two different ringtone notifications for my two different email accounts.  Right now they are all getting the "WORK EMAIL!" alert.  I just confirmed that this is an issue at the store, my OG Moto did this very easily but for some reason (while I get two different icons notifications in the status bar) the ringtone alert has been combined for all non Gmail accounts.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

BionicDroider, thanks for posting and congrats on your new device! I understand why you would want to have separate email notifications for your work and personal email accounts. This is not something that was just overlooked or a design flaw for the Bionic. This is how Android is designed. Any emails in the default email application will have the same notification sound. You can try 3rd party mail applications from the Market for other options.
This is not the way Android is designed, my ORIGINAL DROID could perform this simple (but important) function and is a total step backward.  My 4G Dual Processor Machine to Rule All Machines can't tell the difference between my email accounts?  This a totally BOGUS response and very disapointing.  This machine can do better and I expect this to be fixed.
Thanks to the other forum members for suggesting apps to fix this.  Fortunately this is an open platform so the market can correct this.

  • Email notifications not being sent

    Hello all -
I have two Mac Mini Servers - both running 10.6.5
One server is within my LAN and behind an Apple Airport Extreme which is acting as a router.
The other server is collocated and has a direct connection to the internet. It is running the standard OS X Server firewall service to protect it.
I am having trouble getting the second server (with the direct connection to the internet) to send out alert emails (ie - as configured through Server Admin/settings/Alerts). I receive emails from the first server just fine.
Am assuming it is a firewall configuration issue - but I have tried turning off the firewall briefly and testing it - but it still doesn't work. The same applies to emails sent from within packages such as Joomla and Drupal (ie - new account emails)
    Any ideas anyone?
    Many thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi ClassicII
I really needed to get this working, so I have spent the last few days frantically searching for solutions and 'think' I have got it working.
Before I tell you how - a caveat. I am no expert by any means - so please tread carefully!
It seems that (and please correct me if I am wrong any experts that happen to be reading this) the mail service is actually used to send the notifications. I had switched this off to test, but it seems as if it starts momentarily when needed to send the notification then shuts down if it is not used for a while.
Therefore, the mail service does need to be configured. I don't use my server as an email server, so I only configured SMTP (not POP, nor IMAP) within mail.
    So, within server admin :
go to the mail service for your server
    Stop the mail service.
    Settings tab - then general
Set domain name & host name to the domain name of your server (including subdomain)
    Tick "Enable SMTP"
Un-tick "allow incoming mail", "Hold outgoing mail", "Relay outgoing mail" etc.
    Start the mail service.
Then give it a try! You can always type echo "Hello" | mail -s "Test" youremailaddress at a command line to test.
Make sure your firewall is not blocking (I guess) port 25 outbound. I momentarily switched off my firewall service to test. Also, it could be that your ISP themselves block port 25 to stop people setting up mail servers.
One thing I found (through trial and error) is that if something is not correctly set up - it may work the first few times - but then stop with an error in the log (look in the SMTP Logs from within the mail service). This led to a few false dawns - but it has been running for 40 minutes and is still going. I now receive email notifications and my Drupal sites can send mail.
I went through a lot of trial and error / editing php.ini and main.cnf (to no avail) before getting this to work!
Hope it helps - let me know!

  • 5800 email notifications

Anybody else having the same problem -
I download new email headers either automatically, or by connecting to my two mailboxes individually, the email notification on the home screen appears and won't go away - the flashing white button keeps going too - and won't go until I've downloaded and read / deleted every email.  I've tried switching off 'new email notifications' but all it does is stop the message coming up on the home screen - the icon still pops up and the button still flashes!
It used to do this and then go away if I started and then cancelled downloading one of the emails - letting it know I'd got the message, but now won't go away until they're all downloaded and read, or after a reboot.
    any advice appreciated
    cheers.

Thank you, razmee209!  I must have checked everything 1,000,000 times, but when I just rechecked settings - notification - mail, I now see that Alerts -- both Show in Notification Center and Show on Lock Screen -- were turned off.  Can't believe I missed that, so THANK YOU!

  • I am trying to turn off email notifications that I get every time I use my apple ID

Got a new iPAd mini for Xmas.
I am CONSTANTLY getting email notifications when I used my apple ID.  How do I turn this off?  I understand it is a security feature but I am trying to learn how to operate my new iPad mini and am constantly entering the info to figure things out.  Please tell me how to turn it off.  I have been to the apple ID page (Apple - My Apple ID) but I see nothing that allows me to do anything like turning off or down email notifications.
I have googled it but that has led me to a page that asks me to create a new ID although it didn't say as much.  I have now created an ID I didn't want to and also need to delete it as I have no desire to receive all the spam I am sure will come from it.
    PLZ help!

You cannot delete an Apple ID, just abandon the new one that you created if you do not need it or want it.
Why don't you explain some of the circumstances under which you are getting these email notifications. You need to describe what you are doing when these pop up. I assume that you mean when you try to make purchases, so if tha the cae, please confirm. If not, please explain in greater detail also, what is the nature/message of the email notifications?

  • SRM 7.0 OFFLINEAPPROVALSEND - static link in Email notification possible

    Hello SRM Gurus,
i have a special question regarding OFFLINEAPPROVALSEND and the link in the Email notification. Is it possible to customize table /SAPSRM/C_PORT_C to provide a static link to the SRM Portal and not use the logic to generate this link.
Background: We have a Federal Network Portal in use for HR and BI. But we are planning now to change the concept to a central portal. So we do the Upgrade to SRM 7.0 with a stand alone Portal but we are getting the SSO Ticket from the Producer Portal over a special static link (e.g. http://producer.portal.net:50000/E_SSO?to=https://srm.portal.net:50201/startsrmportal.
For a interims solution i would provide in the offline Emails a static link to go to the SRM Portal with the SSO ticket from the producer portal. I know that is no standard way for the moment, but we need that to provide SSO to the Managers for there approvals. At the moment they get an Login Page with Username and Password. An that is not acceptable for the Managers
My question is now, could i provide a static link in the offline Emails and override the generated link. Or must i do a modification of the OFFLINEAPPROVALSEND Report? We only need this interims solution for 4 month until the new central portal is ready so that we can move with SRM in. A quick solution would be nice.
Thanks for every usefull suggestion in advance.
    Best regards
    Stefan

  • Email notification is not send to contact person in SRM 7.0

    Hi Friends,
I am in SRM 7.0 and SP03. I am using program '/SAPSRM/OFFLINEAPPROVALSEND' to send notification to approver.
Email notification is not sending to contact person in SRM 7.0 after all approvers approved the shopping cart. I even enabled checkbox 'Approval of application object' for Contact person (in most cases, the creator of the document) in the SPRO-SAP Supplier Relationship Management-SRM Server-Cross Application Basic Settings-Business workflow-Process-Controled Workflow-Business Process Configuration-Define Recipient of Notifications. Am i missing something or is it how SRM 7.0 Build. I knew that this functionality is there in SRM 5.0 by activate the security level in the user settings(SU01), I also know that this setting will not work if we use Process control workflow. Any input on this..

  • How to turn of that email-notification?

    Hi,
I cant figure out how to turn off email notification. For example I have been posting in some very active treads and Im being bombarded with email notifications. Everytime someone posts something in these threads I get an email
The threads turn up in "My subscriptions" at the forum start page, but when I click "Manage subscriptions" I have none!
Please help me get rid of this notification insanity!
Message Edited by ITemplate on 03-12-2009 10:52 AM

In the manage subscriptions page you can remove the tick from "Always Receive Subscription Notifications".
There is also a pop-down menu "show" subscribed messages, choose subscribed threads and then unsubscribe from those threads.
    Hope this helps
