POP Email Problems for ATT/Yahoo

To Everyone with ATT or subsidiary of ATT
I'm Posting this as a possible fix for people with Yahoo accounts merged with other providers.
ATT (including bellsouth and others under ATT) used yahoo mail servers. They have new servers for POP3 Mail. I believe Verizon did the same.
Check your ISP website for the latest server addresses and port settings.
For AT&T including Bellsouth, SBC, etc., setting are:
Email server settings (POP and SMTP)
AT&T email server settings are needed if you intend to use an email program (e.g. Outlook) with your AT&T email accounts. The current settings are displayed in the table below. If you only use AT&T Webmail to access your AT&T email accounts, these settings are not needed and you can access your mail by logging in athttps://login.yahoo.com/.
If you signed up for a free att.net email account after 6/12/11, you will not be able to use an email program (e.g., Outlook) with your AT&T email account.
Note: AT&T's POP/SMTP settings have recently changed to inbound.att.net andoutbound.att.net. However, if you are using the old settings, they will continue to work.
The following mail server settings will work with all AT&T email domains: @ameritech.net, @att.net, @bellsouth.net, @flash.net, @nvbell.net, @pacbell.net, @prodigy.net, @sbcglobal.net, @snet.net, @swbell.net, @wans.net.
Email Program Settings Field:
Enter:
Incoming (POP)
inbound.att.net
Outgoing (SMTP)
outbound.att.net(requires authentication)
Incoming mail server:
POP3
Incoming/Outgoing User Name:
Full AT&T email address, including domain (e.g.,[email protected], [email protected])
Incoming mail port #:
995, secure connection (SSL) checked
Outgoing mail port #
465, secure connection (SSL) checked
Note: When updating the secure server settings, check the SSL check box first and then update the port number if necessary.
In addition: Verzion settings are:
Mail server settings
Incoming mail server (POP3): incoming.verizon.net
Incoming Server Port Numbers: 995
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): outgoing.verizon.net
Outgoing Server Port Numbers: 465 Why is this important?
Your Verizon Online user name
Your Verizon Online password
Make sure "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" is checked.

I think you're right John, it's not in pop mail settings.
I have just added one of my accounts again to see what happens next, there is no push option, Cheers for trying to help me. John.
Just an update, I am having a text conversation with someone and that e-mail account just downloaded my e-mails ! ! I didn't ask it to... argh....

I have cancelled my yahoo account and deleted it off my computer but continue to get a pop up asking for my yahoo password. I look in settings under mail and the yahoo account is gone, but when I go to address book>prefrences and click on account my mac it shows the yahoo email address under account information and the box is unchecked. I have tried to make my Microsoft Office for MAC's OUTLOOK program work as the default email system. But ATT/Yahoo says its service is not compatible with the MAC version of Microsoft Outlook... Has anyone been able to make it work? I can't change my ISP right now.

• Setting up Outlook 2010 as email client for Verizon Yahoo email fails

I am trying to set up Outlook 2010 as my email client in Verizon Yahoo. I have reached the Internet E-mail Settings window in Outlook 2010 and entered the settings specified in the Verizon Yahoo! Internet Help file titled "How do I receive my VerizonYahoo! Mail using a different email program?". When I test the account settings I get an error message telling me that the server responded : 530 authentication required. Help.

Using my recently obtained Windows 8 64 bit, I have not been able to get Photoshop Elements 11 Organizer Share File Attachments or Photo Mail to work. From what I have read, Windows 8 has a problem with POP servers. But I suspect that what we are encountering goes beyond that.
At the onset, my only choice was Adobe Email Services for the Email client. After I installed Windows Live Mail 2011, I then had the choice for EMail Client of Windows Live Mail 2011 as well as Adobe Email client but neither solved the problem of no email generated.
a. For Adobe Email Service, used three different email addresses, got valid verification codes for each, was told by the program that I was good to email, yet after the email was prepared, no email with send button was generated for emailing.
b. I have looked at the system with two different anti-virus program...first McAfee and then Windows Defender.
c. I have changed the send to email addresses.
d. I have had no better luck using Windows 8 built in Mail app. In fact, my lack of success with the Photoshop Elements Photo mail feature and the Windows 8 built in Mail app was the reason for my looking for alternatives.
On a comparative note, when I use Photoshop Elements 11 in Windows 7 64 bit, I have the same problem with Adobe Email Service as the Email client. However, if Windows Live Mail 2011 is the Email client, no problems..email generated and sent successfully.
So based on my result, I would say that the answer to your question
"Is there some kind of issue between Adobe organizer and Windows 8?"
is Yes.
If Photoshop Elements 11 support says there should be no problem with this feature in Windows 8, then I would also be interested in knowing the details of its use of the feature to get the expected Photo Mail and File Attachment results.

• Droid Incredible and GoDaddy POP email problems. Please HELP!!!!!

My prior phone (LG Touch) used mobile email and I accessed my GoDaddy mail account with no problems.
I just got the HTC Droid Incredible and was on the phone for hours with tech support with no resolution.
I am able to receive email but cannot send it. This almost makes this smartphone worthless to me.
Here are my settings:
Incoming POP server: pop.secureserver.net (Port 110 with no security)
Outgoing SMTP Server: smtpout.secureserver.net (Port 25 or 80)
Incoming Works. Outgoing does not. I can't believe this is a problem considering GoDaddy is the largest hosting
company in america. They assure me that the problem is not on their end.
The only thing I can do at this point is use the GoDaddy app to send and receive email. This sucks cause there are
extra steps involved and it's obviously not as nice as the built-in email feature for this phone.
Has anyone encountered this problem with the outgoing mail using GoDaddy?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Have you tried K9 for email? You should!
You should be ok using port 80, security type: None, and try checking require sign-in

• Pop email problem since Friday

HI everyone,
I got my z10 a couple of months ago and am with T mobile/EE in the UK. Everything worked fine til Friday last week. Since then, my Pop email account has been able to pick up emails but not send them - a clock appears instead of a tick to say they are sent. Going into set up, I am told that the settings are wrong and I need to check them and try again. My hotmail account works fine, but I can no longer access the junk email, which should be a blessing, you might say, but because I get so much rubbish sent, my hotmail is set to exclusive so I do need to check the junk daily to see if anyone not in my address book has contacted me. I can live without this, however, but the other issue with my pop account is doing my head in.
T mobile say it is a work-related issue and the settings must have changed. My phone is not a work phone but a private one, but I am part of a franchise so I do have an account loosely related to work though they don't really oversee it. The IT people at head office at any rate say that nothing has changed there and the ports and smtp address etc are still the same and that the other 700 franchisees have not reported any issues with their phones. In the mean time, my phone does not work properly but I am stuck with it on contract as T mobile say they only guarantee phones with non-pop accounts. I see there is a known issue with pop accounts on the z10 but does anyone have any idea when the fix is rolling out to the UK? T mobile told me fixes come out instantaneously across the world but I can see little evidence of this. If there is not a fix and I cannot take it back to t mobile to change it, can I send it to Blackberry?
Thanks for any advice you can offer,
Sarah

The same problem here!
Since the last software update yesterday!
I have 1 Hotmail account (works fine) and 2 pop accounts (I can receive but not send!).

• TS3899 what are the email account settings for att.yahoo

At the same time on the same day my iMac, iPhone and iPad all stopped sending and recieving email....I can connect to att web mail and get email but my mac products quick working....what gives?

Did you know the servers have changed;
SBC Yahoo Email & News Server Info
To set up your email client (not webmail) to use the newest "New and Improved" secure access:
1. Open your email client program.
2. Locate the email account settings for your particular client.
3. Change or set the POP (incoming) server to
inbound.att.net.
4. Change the SMTP (outgoing) server to
outbound.att.net.
5. For inbound email, connect securely over the standard
POP3 SSL
port: 995. Use username and password. Do not use "Secure Password
Authentication".
6. For outbound email, connect securely over the standard
SMTP SSL
port: 465. Use the same credentials as for the inbound email.

• Yahoo as an email provider for ATT

Can you please get rid of this gosh awful Yahoo as ATT / Bellsouth email provider... worst possible provider of any internet service... inbox, google, even AOL would be a better choice... anything but Yahoo... it's spam riddled and non-responsive. Since my paid account is through ATT / Bellsouth, I expect the problem to be handled by ATT / Bellsouth but obviously you can't fix Yahoo... but you can dump Yahoo as an email provider!

Yahoo provides ATT's e-mail services, and has for years. ATT is happy with Yahoo, and vice versa. No reason they have for even considering changing.Their e-mail, as most do these days, have decent spamming filters, and they get better all the time.It is unrealistic to think they can stop ALL spam.As was already pointed out, you are NOT obligated to use Yahoo. However, if you choose to forward Yahoo mail to another e-mail servece, obviously, the spam mail with get forwarded also.Perhaps it would help to read up on how to set your spam filtering settings so that the mail you don't want, is actually blocks, or at least, sent to the spam folder instead of your main mail folder. Another consideration, using a mail reading app like outlook to offload your e-mail from the servers.. you can set filtering rules with it in addition to the ones on the e-mail service. Just a thought. My two and a half cent worth.

• Email problems for 4

Anyone having problems with I4 email saying"cannot get mail" the user name or password for email address is incorrect.. I've shut
it down turned off wifi ....Don't know what else to do because it was working fine yesterday.

Hi Sugarmama33,
Oh my! Thanks for this info! I can certainly understand your frustration with your email not working. I know how important email can be to daily functions, so lets get this fixed. What type of email account is this, pop or exchange? Are you able to access this email account from a computer web browser with same username and password? Try uninstalling the email account http://bit.ly/LIhuL4, then re-add the email account. Lastly you can try a soft reset to the device http://bit.ly/tXe7I4. Hope this helps!

• How do I get Firefox to remember two usernames and passwords for att.yahoo?

Firefox remembers one username and password, does not auto-fill-in the information (which is good), but will not ask to remember the second username and password. How do I get Firefox to remember the second username and password?
I have two e-mail accounts which use the same login page, one account is sbcglobal and the other is yahoo. I would like Firefox to remember both sets of information so I don't have to type all the username and password information for one account.

* Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode
* You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing", possibly grayed
* You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
* To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
* Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

When I add an existing att yahoo email account to my iPhone and try to retrieve email I get an error message "cannot send mail - the user name or password for SMTP:[email protected]@smtp.att.yahoo.com is incorrect". The username and password work fine on PC. Any thoughts?

• Easy solution for Q10 and POP email setup

I am posting a suggested solution to all of the POP email headaches for anyone running OS 10. I recently upgraded from a Torch 9810 to the Q10 and have had an awful time trying to intall and run my sympatico.ca email accoun in the new OS 10. I understand this is an POP email account.
I have stumbled upon this solution quite by accident - not one of the so-called tech experts at Bell or Rogers Wireless, despite countless hours spent on the telephone and in chats with them, were able to suggest this to me, which I found quite astounding!
All fo the tech experts kept telling me to install my sympatico.ca email account as a POP account - despite dozens of attempts, it would never work and sync properly!
The solution? Go into the advanced email setup options and choose Outlook as the account type, not POP, Exchange, or anything else. Enter your email address and account password and do not change any of the default settings that OS 10 will give you. Just finish the set up and, presto! You have access to all of your account folders and sycing seems to work magically.
I hope some of the tech experts at the Internet and wireless providers read this forum from time to time...it could save frustrated customers many hours!

It's possible that Sympatico has recently enabled Exchange Active Sync (EAS) access. If so, that is a great thing for all Sympatico users.

• With an iPad (IOS5.1.1) how can you request that POP emails be saved to server?

With my iMac OS10.8.1 with my Mail program preferences I can request that my emails (which are ATT/Yahoo POP) be saved to the server after I open them, but how do I request that my ATT/Yahoo POP emails that I open on my iPad (IOS 5.1.1) be saved to the server as well?

Settings, Mail, click on your email account, Advanced, Delete from server - set to Never.
