POP Problems,

I came back from vacation to find my mail app had a gap of missing emails for the period of time I was away. I assumed to be the case because I was using my laptop which also has the Mail app routed to my gmail pop server. I set the settings in gmail to always check that the host Mail app always checks to see if all the email matches, I then click rebuild and it erased everything and then began refilling the mail app. I then tried to erase all the junk mail it collected, somehow when I did this it not only selected all the junk email but all the mail in my inbox. I then clicked rebuild again and now the format of the columns are organized different and it thinks today is the 31st of december even though my time and date app displays the correct time and day.

Daniel Cronin,
I was referring to the fact that a common cause of POP3 issues is because of how the POP3 protocol was designed. Specifically "POP Lock" which was designed on the assumption multiple attempts to connect to the mail server were bad. For more information see this article:

Was Entourage open and attempting to download email, or checking for new email while the iPhone was attempting to access the mail account?
When you attempt to add the account, what error do you get?
As for moving the settings over, you can tell it to sync email account settings in the Info tab.
