Pop Up Blocker Question

When responding to the pop up blocker message the IPAD freezes and I cannot get it to "unfreeze".
Turning the IPAD off and back on does not correct this issue - Please advise how this can be fixed.

Is this in Safari or another app ? If Safari then try clearing its cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data (Clear Cache on iOS 4) and also Clear History
If that doesn't work then try closing the app completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.

  • I am unable to save plug-in gadgets in Blogger because I get a Javascript:void(0) message on pop-up window. Pop-up blocker is disabled, cache cleared. Help?

I am trying to add a plug-in gadget to my blogger blog. They use a pop-up window to configure the gadget and then a save button. When I am ready to save the plug-in I see a tiny message in the lower left of the pop-up window which says " Javascript:void(0)". I click "save" but the operation is not fully completed. Here is the strange part. The plug in does appear on my blog but I cannot edit it from the blog. When it was first installed, I could edit the plug-in but the changes would not be saved. Now I cannot edit as no editing buttons appear.
I have cleared my cache, have exempted the Blogger site from my pop-up blocker. I have rebooted. My Firefox plug-ins are all up to date. I have contacted the support for the company that makes the plug-in, they can't fix it. I tried to contact Google but that help pop-up box also did not work properly as it only allows me to sign in but then nothing more happens.
I don't want to have to refresh Firefox unless I have to... rebuilding what I have is going to take a lot of time.

Hi ACI wonder if you can share any responses on to your question above?I too have never used a script but, I have the same problems as you in regards to building a form. And wants to have the same 'protection' and message reminders for the end users. Any information, including a script and/or a contact email of experts you can share with me will help tremendously. Click Firefox button > Options > Options > Content tab.<br />
You can still use the Menu Bar, with the Tools choice. To temporarily display the Menu Bar, press the ALT key or the F10 key and make selections from the Menu Bar while it is displayed. You can also permanently display the Menu bar if you prefer it to the Firefox button menu (see ''Common questions after updating Firefox'' below).

  • I want to chat with Windows Fix-it Center on a matter & keep getting the message 'you must first disable your pop-up blocker', how do I do this?

Not sure what other details that you are referring to.
I've a message concerning an issue with my recycle bin. I wish to chat with Microsofts Windows Fix-it Center online. The message that they send says: 'you must first temporarily disable your browsers pop-up blocker to enable this chat'. Nothing more, nothing less, sounds simple & innocuous, right? All my question is, is how can I accomplish this???

Virgin use the Optus network here in Australia - which is why, the 3G phones showed you connected to the Optus network, and not to the Virgin network...They don't have their own network, they piggyback on Optus - which is why it would show that it is locked to Optus!
They also said they would unlock my iPhone 4 - which has been done!  So there's obviously something wrong with the phone...

    Question
After upgrading to FF 4.0, I'm getting many advertisements popping up in separate windows apparently triggered by my navigating around websited. FF pop up blocker is on, and I so no further options to prevent these ads.

  • Why does the pop up blocker bar not always give you the option to view a blocked pop up?

Usually when Firefox notifies you that a pop up has been blocked it gives you the option to view the blocked pop up. However, sometimes that option is not there. Typically this isn't a problem at all but once in a while there will be a pop up that I wish to view but there is no option to view it. Does anyone know why the pop up blocker will sometimes give you the fourth option to "Show 'www.blockedwebsite.com'" and sometimes will only give you the three options of "Allow pop-ups for the site", "Edit Pop-Up Blocker Options", and "Don't show this message when pop-ups are blocked"? How can I view a blocked pop-up when it only provides the first three options and not the fourth option to view it? I hope my question was clear enough. Thanks in advance!

It is possible that you run into this maximum (the default value is 20):
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/dom.popup_maximum
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

  • Pop up blocker doesn't work

Since upgrading to 10.7 the safari pop-up blocker no longer blocks pop ups!
I've run software update regularly and obviously checked that pop-up blocker is checked in the security preferences.
    What is wrong?
The most common pop up is googleads.g.doubleclick.net.... and it pops up as frequently as once per minute as a new (active) tab. Twice in the time it's taken me to write this question!!
Please help as applecare doesn't seem to be valid for expresslane in Sweden.

I had a similar problem on unsafe web sites with Safari...The google AdSense is not so pop up proof as it seams.
The best thing is to use another navigator as Opera which really blocks the pop ups on nearly all the web sites.
I keep using safari for its reader option that i suppose will soon be on Firefox as it's the best that new Safari has for a long time ago!

  • What is the best pop up blocker?

My pop up blocker is turned on in safari. I keep getting terrible pop ups, but only when using the wifi at my home. Everyone else using the same wifi has the same problem so I'm pretty sure it's our internet provider (which is Cox Communications). Don't ever use them. They have terrible customer service and internet.
I don't want to download anything dangerous from the internet so I'm asking y'all to recommend a safe site I can download a popup blocker from. I'd like it to be free if that's possible.
    Thanks!

  • Use Pop-up Blocker disabled policy not working via IE Administrative Templates on Server 2012.

I'm finding I can't make any adjustments to the pop-up blocker setting at all.
I've set Internet Explorer/Internet Control Panel/Security Page/Trusted Sites Zone and the option in there for "Use Pop-up Blocker" to be disabled. As for trusted sites we want to allow pop ups. however after saving this and using GPupdate /force
from a command line and restarting the policy is not applying.
We also tried adding the sites in question to Internet Explorer/Pop-Up Allow List when we found that the trusted sites zone setting was not working but it also does not work that way either.

  • Pop-up blocker: why is the "show the blocked pop-up" menu missing in the options?

There used to be the "show the blocked pop-up" menu item, whenever a pop-up is blocked by the pop-up blocker, I cannot see that menu these days.
Even in the pop-up blocker help entry, the menu item is in parentheses. Does it mean that sometimes the item would show up and sometimes don't?
What happened to this feature? I really loved this one, and it was one of the main reasons I started to use Firefox instead of IE.
Is there any way to enable this in about:config or something?

Thanks for your reply to this question. I believe that "show the blocked pop-up" ''was'' an option in FireFox's built-in popup blocker. As the OP mentioned, it is listed parenthetically on the [[Pop-Up Blocker Help Page|Pop-Up Blocker Help Page]]. Also, I don't run much in the way of add-ons and extensions, and no extensions were disabled when I updated this morning, but nonetheless the option seems to have disappeared. Since this problem doesn't have many "me toos," maybe it only happens under specific circumstances?
