I keep getting a pop up that keeps telling me to update my browser but it's not from apple so I left it alone. It keeps coming back. It is taking over my computer. I called the phone number thats on the pop up and they want to charge me $300.00 to remove it what can I do.
Force Quit .
Press command + option + esc keys together at the same time. Wait.
When Force Quit window appears, select the Safari. if not already.
Press Force Quit button at the bottom of the window. Wait.
Safari will quit.
Hold the shift key down and launch Safari.

Most probably when you wanted to download the game, it was bundled with malicious/unwanted software, thus stopped by McAfee.

Anyone heard from Frontier about taking over service on 7/1?

Basically you will want to keep the above info handy, in case you have a billing or tech support question that you need immediate attention or answers for. Other than that, it should be a transparent change for you, other than everything will be branded by frontier. like your menu system will stop saying verizon and start saying frontier. there are small changes that may or may not affect you, but you'd want to check on that forum to see what users are experiencing, or go to frontier's website and see if they have a similiar forum for fios frontier customers. -
Why is one film from iTunes Store taking over two days to download?

I bought a film from iTunes store two days ago and it is still downloading, loading about 0.1 MB per ten minutes. iTunes is telling me that I have around 80-100 hours until the download is completed, which seems absolutely crazy for a film that is only two hours long. I'm beginning to lose patience and would like to know if anyone knows why it is taking so long for this film to download? And, is there a way to increase the download speed without downloading any untrustworthy files?

A warning pops up from Avast that says that it's part of Firefox, that it is malicious, and that Avast prevented it from causing a problem. When I tried Googling this, I got strange URLs in other languages and not ONE in English.
I am running Windows 7 and all the latest updates on a 6-month old Toshiba laptop with Intel processor. I am running Avast 2014.9.0.2021 and it says "Everything is Fine."

If this keeps happening, maybe run a virus scan? It looks like you have ad block, so you can also block the script in Firefox on the page. However that only seems like a temporary solution.

PubSub agent has taken over my system.
My RSS feeds on Safari stopped working yesterday and I've noticed my computer is running super hot and the fan is full blast all the time. Activity Monitor says that PubSubAgent is running at 100% of my CPU with the following snapshot. Anybody have any idea what to do? Restarting does not solve the problem.

Sample analysis of process 925 written to file /dev/stdoutI had the same issue and saw a Genius assuming something had gone awry with my hardware. They suggested I order more RAM, which I did, but it hasn't arrived yet. They also suggested an archive and install which I tried, but got an error. So I erased my hard drive and reinstalled Leopard, recovered my Users via Time Machine (which also returned a heart-dropping error that proved to be not a big deal) and still had the same trouble with the PubSub agent taking over my system. That took a very long time and was a relatively terrifying process for a first-timer. You shouldn't do all that.
I ended up turning off RSS feeds in Safari>Preferences>RSS (after fighting to repeatedly force-quit the PubSub agent in the activity monitor) which did, as the previous post predicted, solve the problem. But I like my RSS feeds. So next, I went to User>Library>PubSub>Feeds and double-clicked each file, which opened the .xml in Textedit. (In the midst of all the data, you can find the name of the feed.) I found one file that could not open in Textedit. I deleted the file, and removed the feed from my RSS bookmarks. I also deleted the Database.sqlite file from User>Library>PubSub>Database, as suggested by a previous post.
To be sure, with the Activity Monitor up, I ran though all my feeds in Safari, watching for one of them to take over the CPU graph with green boxes. Thankfully, that one bizarre-o feed was apparently the only thing causing the PubSub to go insane, to the best of my understanding. I suppose if all of your .xml files open just fine in Textedit, you might consider cutting the Feeds folder to your desktop, then replacing each .xml one at a time until you locate the offender.
I next went to my iSync preferences in System Preferences>.Mac>Sync>Advanced and replaced my bookmark data on .Mac with the updated data on my computer, to avoid having the offending feed and subsequent .xml file reappear.
Now everything is completely fine. The PubSub runs softly in the background, no longer trying to take over everything. -
Prevent an add-on from taking over browsing toolbar
There is some extension of sorts that keeps taking over. It's called mp3tubetoolbar and every time I go to search a word in the toolbar it pops up using this engine. How to I change this to use bing for searching, and prevent it from changing it in the future?

Why is installing 3 applications from a creative cloud packager taking over an hour?
Dear Adobe community,
I am trying to install 3 Creative Cloud applications, (Illustrator, photoshop, and indesign) on a Windows 7 Hpz420 workstation from a USB hard drive and it is taking over an hour to complete. i created a package of the 3 applications using the CC packager and move the package over to a USB drive. Then I start the installer exe it runs and completes, but the installation takes over an hour and 1/2. My installation of Creative Suite 5.5 from a similar USB hard drive was much quicker, about 1/2 hour.
I don't want to use a remote installer like AAMEE. Is there a different way to create a package that is more efficient? I also don't want to redown the applications everytime I need to install them on a machine and utilize my network bandwidth.
Is this normal ? I have rebuilt the package with the same results and have installed CC on two different machines with the same results. I did not see anything in the forums about the installation being so slow so I am concern that I have missed something or that my results are not normal.

This computer is a beast. <And - yet> it takes me days, literally <DAYs> to download all the apps I am using/studying.
I (last week) recently had my 1st "total meltdown" w/ Win 8.1-Pro (what a total P.O.S. "OS" this is!) & have faced the daunting task of re-installing ALL of the Adobe SW available over the "Creative Cloud". This will take days (w/ a direct DSL link to a Cat-6 cable; not on Wi-Fi) to "re-install" all the "Creative Cloud" software I was learning/working with. Insane. I have never seen anything like this!
So, "DLi" - I agree! Adobe's SW (& HW) Engineers don't give a stuff about your time nor mine.
The only things that are of importance to them are (#1 - "Keeping their jobs") ... metering out their "Creative Cloud" in a manner which allows them to investigate EVERY byte on your computer/server/device BEFORE allowing you to use it . . . (hmmm....I do wonder how many dollars per month that information is worth to the NSA / per seat)?) ... and making it "a nightmare" for the user.

I have an iPhone 5 from India. I am going to USA for studying. Can I use the same iPhone over there or I will have to buy a new one?
If officially unlocked, you can purchase a sim from one of the two nationwide GSM carriers, AT&T or T-Mobile. However, AFAIK, none of the carriers in India offer unlocking for the iPhone. Thus, if your phone is carrier locked, the only way it will work in the US is roaming...that would cost a fortune.
So, if you have a carrier locked iPhone, leave it home or sell it before you come to the US, then purchase an officially unlocked iPhone, from Apple, when you get to the US. You'll be able to use that phone in India when you go back. -
Since I downloaded Mozilla Firefox on my new computer, Babylon search engine keeps taking over my home page. I have deleted it from my computer and have installed Google as my home page - It has just done ANOTHER hostile takeover and completely kicked Google off. Babylon doesn't even find the right things I search for. It is horrible - is it a virus and how do I get rid of it?

I am working on a system design where I would like to install 5 Apple TV's so when clients walk in with their iPhones they can connect to the network and be able to stream their audio to facility zone speakers where they will be working. But I am looking to prevent others from taking over that connection. I have never installed multiple Apple TV's in one site but I assume one would name them differently (Apple TV 1 - 5) when setting them up. I am also assuming when I walk in with my iphone and use the airplay I would see all 5 Apple TV's listed. Once I choose Apple TV 1 for instance, I do not want others to walk in and see Apple TV 1 on the list any longer so they do not have the oportunity to select it inadvertantly. Is this doable?
You can't remove them from the list, but you can set a password for airplay to each Apple TV
