  • Create a pop-up help message

    Hello,
I'm looking for  a way to create a pop-up help message.  What I want to have is 'section help' button.  When a user clicks on the button, a small screen pops-up with instruction how to fill out the form.
I'm trying to use the below but it looks so ugly.
    xfa.host.messageBox("Please select the application that you need to request an account for" , "Select Application(s)", 5, 5);
I searched the web and came across the pop-up pdf http://forums.adobe.com/message/2386742#2386742
I however, don't know how to make the button float on top of the form.  Could you please explain to me how to create a button from a pdf and how to make it float on top of the form?
Thank you very much for your help.
    Best regards,
    Sahra

You can put text into the Tool Tip box in the Accessibility palette for that.

  • How can I hide onscreen help tips?

    Hi,
Just got a new Macbook with Mountain Lion, which is also new to me.  Can someone tell me how to hide and/or get rid of the onscreen help tips that keep popping up?  Sometimes they block the close window button and its making me kind of nuts.  Reminiscent of the old microsoft paperclip thing...
    Thanks for your help!

  • How can I turn off the yellow pop-up tool tips?

    Howdy,
I have searched high and low in the preferences and found nothing that does the trick. How can I turn off the yellow pop-up tool tips?
See attached screen shot. They are incredibly annoying. It's probably obvious, but I cannot find it anywhere on internets or this forum.
    Thanks!

Thanks Nancy. Unfortunately that doesn't do it. I turned those off awhile back. Nor can I find anything under VIEW that seems to make a difference.  Just FYI: I'm on a Mac OS w/Dreamweaver CS6 - but this has happened on previous versions of DW. Thanks again.

    Hi BB,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
I'm not sure about the other, but there is indeed an App for Getting Started with Windows 8 that you can download from the Windows Store:

  • ShowModalDialog and "Unauthorized Access" for Item Help Tips - APEX 2.2.0

    Hi, all,
Well, I have a popup that is displayed using ShowModalDialog, and that popup has help tips for some items. When I view it on my computer, regardless of whether or not I'm logged into APEX or not, and regardless of what authentication scheme I use to log into my application, I can see the help tips.
When another user I have testing tries to view the help tip, she gets "Unauthorized Access." It doesn't matter what she is logged into or how. However, if I send her the link to the page displayed in the ShowModalDialog popup and she opens it in a regular window, she can see the help just fine.
I did see mentions of this elsewhere in the forums. Is this Bug #5469015 : Authentication Fails On Popup Item Help Pages? If so, is there a workaround?
    Thanks!
    Don

Thanks for all your help Scott

my first generation iPad is not connecting to the internet! any helpful tips?

Have you done a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.
If that does not help, go to Settings and turn WiFi off.  Make sure you are not in AirPlane Mode and turn WiFi back on and see if it shows the wireless networks that are available.

  • IPhoto Help tips don't help create new Photo Library

I have 35 photos of folks associated with the magazine I edit. I created a separate album for them in the present Photo Library, but I would like to disconnect them from there and keep them in a totally distinct Editorial Photo Library. The Help tips for iPhoto allow for this action, but in my attempts to make it happen, iPhoto would not launch; it continues to launch only in the original way, with the lone Library and the usual albums with all their photos.
Not wishing to risk loss of hundreds of photos, I abandoned my attempt. All I really want to accomplish is to house the Editorial photos in a completely different place. This collection will expand as the magazine takes on new contributing authors, but I don't want any of these photos intermixed with my personal albums. Part of the reason for this is that I wish to preserve my method of captioning personal photos with numerical prefixes. This is the only sure way I have found to have photos sort strictly chronologically; no alpha method works worth a fig. I would still prefer that the default launch would bring up my personal Photo Library; but it would sure be nice to be able to toggle to the only other photo library that I intend ever to use.

I'm not sure which tip you're following. When you change the name of the "current" iPhoto library, the next restart cannot open in the renamed library on its own. Your choices are to create a new library, or locate an existing one. If you follow the steps in the iPhoto Help topic "Creating a new photo library", I don't see how you can go wrong.
To bring up a library other than the current photo library, you would follow the instruction in the iPhoto Help topic "Switching between photo libraries". If you want to keep your several photo libraries all together in the Pictures folder, you just need different names for each of the iPhoto Library folders.
Export the 35 photos (simply drag them from the iPhoto window) to a temporary folder on the desktop, then restart iPhoto with the new library and import the contents of the temporary folder. You can delete the photos from the initial iPhoto collection any time after you've successfully exported them.

    Tip No. 1 Battery Tips..
    https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/product_page/faqs/p/30,6720,8417
Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles and will naturally degrade over time. You've probably experienced this with other battery-powered products - you find yourself charging the battery more often as the charge just doesn't seem to hold as often as it once did. Eventually, you may need to replace the internal battery.
There are a couple of things you can do before replacing the battery. Sometimes it's a matter of changing a few settings that will ensure you're getting all the power you can from your battery. Motorola Customer Service can help you with this process over the phone.
    Before you call:
We recommend that you completely deplete the battery by allowing the device to completely shut down when the battery has depleted.
Once your product shuts down, plug it into the charger that came in the original box, and allow it to charge to 100%.
Once you've completed this charging cycle, call Motorola Support at 800-734-5870, and the team will diagnose your battery, and recommend setting changes or actions. If your battery does need to be replaced, we offer two battery replacement options:
The battery only replacement program lets you send your product to Motorola so that we can replace the battery and return the device back to you. If your device is within the warranty period there is no charge for this service. If your device is outside of the warranty period, the cost of this service is $49 plus applicable taxes.
You can expect to receive the device back approximately 5 business days from the time we receive the device.  Use our online repair submission process to get going.
With the expedited battery replacement program, for an extra charge we'll provide you with a FedEx label to return your product. If your device is within the warranty period the charge for this service is $19 plus applicable taxes. If your device is outside of the warranty period, the cost of this service is $69 plus applicable taxes.
You can expect to receive the device back 3 days after we receive the unit.  Use our online repair submission process to get going.

Things you should know about your battery
This product uses a non-removable battery. The battery should only be replaced by a Motorola-approved service facility. Any attempt to remove or replace your battery may damage the product.
The DROID RAZR MAXX is feature-rich and can run a virtually limitless number of applications, making it useful for many tasks. Your particular usage will affect how long you can go before recharging your battery.  Playing games, running applications, and surfing the Web increase the power use of the computer-like functions of the DROID RAZR MAXX. Calling and texting utilize its phone functions.  Depending on your use mix, time between charges will vary. We know you want to use the device to its fullest and offer you these tips to help you get the most from your phone while going as long as possible between charges.
New batteries are not fully charged. Plug the battery charger into your phone and an electrical outlet. Your phone might take several seconds to start charging the battery. Charging time from 0% takes approx. 5.5 hours.
    Tips:
It is recomended to use a wall charger to charge the phone instead of USB cable plugged in to a computer.
It may take several charging cycles for your battery to reach optimum performance.
If your device is completely discharged, it may take several minutes for the device to begin charging.
Ensure you are using a Motorola specific charger. Other chargers might take longer to charge your battery, or cause your calls to fail during charging.
    Tips to extend battery life:
During initial set up of your Google and social networking account, your phone's battery may drain faster than usual due to the amount of data transferred. After the initial sync, and a few charging cycles, your battery will reach its maximum capacity. We strongly recommend to keep the phone attached to the charger during the initial sync.
See where you power is going: Tap Home > Menu >  Settings > Battery information > Battery use.
When setting the phone down after use, quickly press the power key to invoke a blank screen. Selecting a shorter back light duration will also help conserve power by blanking the screen when not in use.

Applications which uses battery power: Certain streaming Music, Music Players, Talk, Video Chat, Navigation, Weather, and Map apps. widgets and live wallpapers, are notorious battery drainers. In addition certain Facebook, Twitter, Email and other apps that constantly sync over the internet can reduce your battery life. We recommend you use the Motorola task manager application. Task Managers let you monitor how apps use memory and processing power and identify apps that are using too many resources.
Reboot your phone If you are getting only a few hours of battery life or your phone is running slow, it is probably not your phone. An app or widget is probably the cause. Restart your phone to clear background apps: Press and hold the power button > Tap Power off. Then turn the phone back on. Daily reboots can help keep rogue apps from taking battery life.
Use the AC adapter to charge your phone whenever possible.
Toggle Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS on or off as needed. These can be placed on your desktop by selecting an open area of your screen and selecting them. individually or using the Android Power Control Widget.
Clear all notifications from the notification bar as much as possible.
Ensure you do not have have duplicate email accounts. Duplicate email account will drain battery life. To check for duplicate email accounts, touch > My Accounts > Advanced set up and ensure there are no duplicates. To remove an account, touch the account > Menu > Remove account.
We suggest charging each night so you start the day fully charged and ready to go!
    Tip No.2  Screen Lock..
    https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/86349/p/30,6720,8417
How does my screen lock and unlock features work with the Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) upgrade?
With Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) your device now has several different lock options available.
To access your lock options, touch   > Settings > Security.
    Screen Lock Options
Slide - provides no protection, but lets you get to the Home screen quickly, or open Camera and start taking pictures immediately.
Face Unlock - lets you unlock your phone by looking at it. This is the least secure lock option.
Pattern - lets you draw a simple pattern with your finger to unlock the phone. This is slightly more secure than Face Unlock.
PIN - requires four or more numbers. Longer PINs tend to be more secure.
Password - requires four or more letters or numbers. This is the most secure option, as long as you create a strong password.
The Lock Screen on Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream sandwich) uses two timers. The first timer is the "Sleep" timer which turns off the device display to extend battery life. You can turn the display on and swipe to unlock. The second timer called the "Automatic lock" timer turns on security features like pin, pattern, password or face unlock and protects the device from unknown users. This "Automatic lock" timer begins after the "Sleep" timer expires and you will be asked to enter personally recognizable data like pin, pattern, password or the face unlock when the display is powered on.To adjust the "Automatically lock"  timer go to Settings > Security > Automatically lock > Select desired time frame. To adjust the "Sleep" setting go to Settings > Display > Sleep > Select desired time frameIf you are using facial recognition and do not want the "slide to unlock" to appear, set the "automatic lock" timer to "5sec".Power button instantly locksThere is a new option in Android 4.0.4 which will automatically lock the device when the display is on and the power button is pressed.  As soon as the power button is pressed your device will lock.To activate the "Power button instantly locks" setting, go to Settings > Security > Toggle the Power button instantly locksIt is important to note your phone may contain security policies set by your IT administrator which may override any settings you attempt to set under screen security. • Switching to Mac - Helpful Tips & Suggestions Requested

Well, after my experience with the iPhone, I became interested in a Mac. After doing some research, I decided to make the switch. My new 15" MBP with iWork and MobileMe should be arriving Monday or Tuesday (I was really hoping it would arrive by this Friday to give me the weekend to play with my new toy, but no such luck).
Anyway, I was looking for tips and suggestions for a Mac newbie (and laptop newbie) as well.
The machine is purely for personal use: some light gaming (though I may just keep my XP box for this), email/internet, personal finance, iTunes, research/writing for informal presentations to small groups, and Bible study (Logos developing a Mac version of their software was the final deciding factor).
Any suggestions/tips/recommendations on helpful books, websites, software and accessories would be much appreciated. Specifically, I would appreciate some feedback on personal finance software, research/note-taking software, and docking stations/KVM switches. Also, anything I need to be aware of as I transfer my iTunes library to the laptop and setting it up as my primary iTunes machine.

    Hi
Glad the link was useful, and I can completely understand with the books.
No I have not used anything else of this type, I stumbled on notebook first of all and did not feel the need to look for anything else.
Notebook is really good for keeping all the notes for a project in one place. You can keep various types of media (written notes, web page clippings, recordings, pictures etc...) in one notebook, and organise them in several different ways. You can have various different notebooks open at the same time.
The feature I like best is the ability to make an audio recording of say a lecture, interview, meeting, even TV programme and keep notes at the same time which are then linked to the point in the recording when they where made.
Then later you can look at your notes and jump into the recording to hear the relevant part of the recording to those particular notes.
So you can have an accurate record of what went on as well as a written record of your thoughts at the time and both are link chronologically.
You can also add in additional notes when you play back the recording later which is handy in case you miss something first time round.
Notebook uses the internal mic and does all this from inside the app, so you don't need anything else.
I find it is just a really handy app to have around.
Thanks for the star by the way.
    Paul

    What printer are you using?
    What OS do you have?
Does it give a program name when it pops up, or does it just give you that message and a couple of options to choose from?
