I have been trying to download photo's from a CD onto my MacBook pro but when I insert the disc I get this box that pops up onto my screen: You inserted a blank CD. Choose an action from the pop-up menu or click Ignore. Is there a way to fix this so I can use my photo's?
Bummer. Could be a problem with the MBP drive. Are you using Re-writable discs maybe?
Check the discs work in your HP machine. They may have burnt but not successfully. Your HP machine may not be able to open them either.
Have you considered using a USB flash device to transfer the photos, or just copy them over your home network? CD is a slow an cumbersome method. -
How can I show a pop up menu based on the selection in a previous pop up menu?
For example, if "Company" is selected in a pop up menu in C6, then show another pop up menu in C7. if "Bob" is selected in a pop up menu C7, show another pop up menu that contains the talks "Bob" has in C8.
I am trying to create a talk scheduling spreadsheet with different talk outlines for different speakers. I'm not sure if there are any functions or formulas that can accomplish this. Can anyone help?Pop-up menus contain fixed values in Numbers. You might be able to do this using Steppers or sliders. These produce a numerical result, which could be used to direct a second slider or stepper's output to a specific column or table.
If you can provide a map of the structure of your list(s), there may be someone here able to take on the task of constructing the tools to do the job.

The last time I tried to do rollovers with a pop up menu in
Dreamweaver 8. It wouldn't work. So I'm searching for another way
to do it.
I created navigation using Fireworks - follow link below to
example. But when I mouse over the rollover that has a pop up menu
attached to it (First link on the left) the rollover images
disappear. Also the drop down menu tends to hang down longer than I
would like.
Can my problems be fixed? Is Fireworks the right tool for
this task?
I had down loaded a trial of the latest version of
Dreamweaver a few months ago and it seemed that this feature had
been deprecated, but there was some sort of plug-in. I'm far from a
casual user, but it was beyond me for the weekend I tried to use
it. Also, this is a bad time for me to invest in new software or
upgrades.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having a problem with my site menu. The site works off a
template and all links are created in the template. I have a
central menu bar with rollover buttons, each with their own
drop-down menu (using the Show Pop-Up Menu behavior). When tested
in the browser, the menu drops down on mouse-over as it's supposed
to, but when the links in the drop-down menu are clicked on, an
error page comes up. The directory path specified in the Pop-Up
Menu behavior is correct, but changes inexplicably when tested in
the browser. All other links in the site (not in drop-down menu
format) function as they're supposed to. I have no clue how to fix
this problem. I think there may be a script error in the mm_menu.js
file which is automatically created by Dreamweaver, but am not sure
how to go about correcting this. Any ideas?> When creating pop-up menus everything works fine

I built a new pop-up menu for my website using Spry in Adobe Dreamweaver. Because of some differences in .HTML and .XHTML
it took me days to get it right. I tested every variation in Firefox until it worked perfectly. Today, I installed the newest version of Firefox and now the pop-up no longer works. I changed the preferences in Firefox to disable to pop-up blocker and it STILL DOESN'T WORK...although an older style of pop-up menu (menu machine) which is no longer supported by Adobe, DOES WORK.
HELP!!! THIS IS IMPORTANT.pixlor:
OP is using CS3 and the menu blog is talking about the menus

versions of FW, so *most* of the points made in the blog
don't apply.

.Mac aliases no longer appearing in Account pop-up menu
Hi, a couple of days ago I noticed that my .Mac aliases are no longer listed in the Account pop-up menu of new messages. I thought it's a temporary .Mac problem, but this has continued.
The account is a .Mac account (not POP nor IMAP), and I can go to Mail>Preferences>Accounts and click on the "Edit Email Aliases" button and can see that they are all still there on .Mac.
How can I get them to show up again?
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.8)Hi Hilal.
I don’t know whether this would make a difference, but it may be worth a try:
1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
2. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong while trying to solve the problem. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is stored.
3. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Locate com.apple.mail.plist and move it to the Desktop (to be deleted if this fixes the problem).
4. Open Mail. You’ll have to set up your non-.Mac accounts from scratch all over again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don’t. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in ~/Library/Mail/ when done.
You’ll also have to re-configure most of your settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
5. As a side effect of re-creating com.apple.mail.plist, Mail might rename Outbox (which is where messages waiting to be sent are stored) to Delivered. The name of that mailbox is actually a misnomer, as it would contain messages (if any) that couldn’t be delivered for some reason. You can delete that mailbox if you wish.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there. -
Pop-up Menu is aligned with the top of the window in IE7
Using Fireworks MX I created a pop-up menu on an image I
would like to put within a table not in the top of the window.
If I view the page with Firefox, the menu is aligned with the
image, but if I use IE7 the pop-up menu is aligned with the top of
the window, far from the image.
Can anyone help me to fix this problem, please?

You'll need to place the menu in its final position in
Fireworks, and
then build your page around it in Dreamweaver. A better
option would be
to build the menu yourself from scratch. You can learn how to
do that here:

Anyone know what red box guidelines mean in a Pop Up Menu?
My first attempt at making my own pop up menu. The layers display on the screen with red boxes that I've never seen before (blue and green I'm used to for transforming and/or changing text). What does a red box mean?

If there's a way to "fix" it (other than removing the background), please let me know. Worst case scenario, the background of the couple kissing either goes. or I default to cheap static menus. lol. -
In table 1 I have 4 sets of options under the heading "CATEGORY" which will make up a pop up menu in the first cell. "Slat fencing", "standard pool fencing", "Non standard pool and garden fencing" and "Louvres" if I choose one of these 4 categories from a pop-up menu I need the next column to indicate another set of pop up menu's that change according to the first cell that I chose. I.E. I have 2 cells in a table. If I choose "Standard pool fencing" from a pop up menu in the first cell I need the pop up menu in the second cell to show the options Flat top Black, Flat top other colour, Semi frameless glass, Frameless glass.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Let me try to explain using a similar but different method:
All the lines are shown for information flow and would not normally be included.
The table in the top left is a working table where you interact with the information:
You first select a category using a slider. As you slide left and right the "value" (shown as 2 in column B) will change. As the value changes the Category changes because the information is looked up from the category table (highlighted with a blue shaded background in the first picture.
The subcategory will also change as you modify the slider in column "B" because you are changing the category, which selects which table is used for the sub-category (sub-category tables are highlighted in light green). Once you select the category you can then slide through the possible selections for the subcategory (column "D").
There are only two formulas and they are in the "Work" table:
A2=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(B2,Category :: A:C, 2, FALSE), "<Not Found>")
C2=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(D2, INDIRECT(A2),2,FALSE), "<NOT FOUND>")
For A2=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(B2,Category :: A:C, 2, FALSE), "<Not Found>").... this means in cell A2 enter the text "=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(B2,Category :: A:C, 2, FALSE), "<Not Found>")" omit the first and last double quote
This whole scheme requires the tables be named the same as the categories in the "Category" table
I hope this helps. If not please indicate what is causing you trouble. -

Pop-up menu cellspacing in IE but not Firefox
I created a website a while back using Dreamweaver and managed to install the header I created in Fireworks CS3 with no problem, however I am redesigning the site and when I place my header in, there appears to be cellspacing in my pop-up menu, but only with Internet Explorer and not with Firefox. When I went to export the header, since I wasn't using Dreamweaver to write it in, I chose the style as "generic html", and made sure there was no Cell spacing. I'd appreciate any feedback I can get.
Well, you have a number of errors that you'll need to address.
You have two body tags, and you can only have one. This may be the problem.
You have a <script language="JavaScript"> declaration and it should be <script type="text/javascript">
You have <center> tags inside <a href...></a> elements and that is not correct.
You have a <valign="top"> tag, and that is an attibute, not a tag.
Where you have <h1 style="font-family:Times New Roman; color:#6F0101; font-size:26;"> won't work, because font names that have spaces in them must be enclosed in quotation marks. You would be better off defining a class for your h1s.
There's a nifty add-on for Firefox that really helps to show you some things in your code. It's called Firebug. Search for it with Google and it's easy to install. I also have the HTML Tidy add-on. HTML Tidy shows me warnings and errors. Firebug shows the structure of the code and also the inheritance of the CSS. In this case, I think you may be inheriting some padding or margin from your default.css once you insert your header into the body.
Here's what I recommend you do:
1) Fix up your Fireworks file to name all your images. For example, the images in your menu that have "Home" written in them should be home.gif and home-ov.gif, (or similar, with "ov" indicating "over") not headermenu_r2_c1.gif and headermenu_r2_c1_f2.gif. Likewise, in the code it should have a name of "home." It will make your code so much easier to read and maintain.
2) Install the HTML Tidy and Firebug add-ons to Firefox. Or, you can use the W3C code validator. Fix the errors in your code.
3) Clean up your CSS and put all your CSS in one file. Rename those awful Fireworks names to something more memorable. Make sure you know exactly what is what and where everything is. That way, you'll see where attributes might be being inherited.
If you want a good book for HTML and CSS, I like Elizabeth Castro's HTML for the World Wide Web. It's in the 6th edition, now. I recently picked up HTML Utopia: Designing Without Tables Using CSS and I find that it is a nice lead-in to designing layouts with CSS.
All that said, Nadia is right and the Fireworks menus are not so great. They aren't really very robust and (as you've experienced) they're difficult to maintain and troubleshoot. Here are two sites that have professional menu plug-ins for Dreamweaver (not Fireworks):
Pluginlab Limited
Project Seven
The Project Seven menus are regularly recommended, but I have no personal experience with either of them. Either one will give you a better experience with less frustration. While they are not free, they'll save you quite a bit of time.
Good luck! -

I am using CS3 Fireworks and CS3 Dreamweaver to edit a pop-up
menu originally made in Fireworks. I have not altered the pop-up
menu code whatsoever, and when I preview the index file that the
pop-up menu is in from Dreamweaver, the menu appears to run just
fine. There are no numbers within any of the file names or menu
items. For some reason, once the index file is loaded onto my
server, certain menu items do not show up and the ones that do are
out of order. There are multiple pop up menu's within the index
file, but those two are single tiered and work fine. The pop-up
menu in question has 2 sub-groups. Could this be the
problem?pixlor:
