Pop-up message in Acrobat Pro 9.5.2

"Adobe Acrobat Updater has not been able to check for updates recently.  Check online to see if solutions are available from the Adobe website."  I have checked online, downloaded everything I can find that appears to apply to Acrobat Pro 9.5.2 and still get the pop-up.  I've worked with 9.5.2 for several months.  The pop-up started yesterday.  ????

  • Problem installing Acrobat Pro 8

Installed CS3 design premium on my MacBook Pro from CD. Got all applications (InDesign, Dreamweaver, etc, but got message that Acrobat Pro 8 failed to install. What do you recommend?

    Hi KingCollins4,
Please disable anti-virus or firewall programs from your computer.
Could you please share the snapshot of the error message that pops up so that I can analyze where the problem exactly is.
    Hope to get your response.

  • Can't Open Acrobat Pro XI after scanning documents

I recently installed Acrobat Pro XI on my Windows 7 system. Upon start-up, Acrobat Pro XI opens and closes fine.  However, when I use my Fujitsu scanner without having an Acrobat document open, I am no longer able to open Acrobat. The scanner will create the PDF document, but the PDF document will not open up or appear on my screen immediately following the scan. Instead, I get periodic pop-up messages stating "Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server." I can open PDF documents with  Nitro PDF Creater after this occurs, but not with Acrobat Pro XI. The only way that I can correct the problem is to restart my computer. Following the restart, Acrobat Pro XI will open again. However, I must have Acrobat open again before I use my Fujitsu scanner or the problem will reappear.  Any thoughts on how to resolve this issue? Thanks.

I have read about the DDE server issue in other posts so you might search for it. I think there may be a knowledgebase article about it.
When this problem occurs, open the tasks list (ctrl-alt-del>tasks) and be sure there is not residual of Acrobat sitting around. That may be what has happened, or maybe some other application is lingering there. Be aware that a few tasks like AcroTray should be running as they enable the PDF creation process.

  • Acrobat Pro X Portfolio not opening proprerly.

I cant make or open a PDF Portfolio in acrobat Pro X.  The link that pops up is for acrobat pro XI.  Is there a different plugin for Pro X?

    Hi Gary,
Which link are you referring to.
The portfolios can be made by both the versions 10 and 11.

  • Created an image using Apple 10.6.5 with Acrobat Pro 9.4.1 and CS 5

Greetings All.  Have a Happy, Healty New Year.
As I open Acrobat Pro I am instructed to open Photoshop (or other App) first, which I did.
Again I opened Acrobat Pro and rec'v message stating Acrobat Pro was installed as part of a suite and in order to enable Acrobat Pro
I must open another CS 5 app. After closing the message Acrobat closes.
Acrobat Pro was set up earlier with the CS 4 suite and upgraded as we go.
Our CS 5 purchase did not include Acrobat Pro.
Is there a workaround for this or do I need to uninstall 9 and install 10.
Would prefer keeping 9.4.1 for now.
    Thanx

    So Adobe-ites,
here is the answer - when Acrobat 9.4 was installed it was installed with CS4. When readying to install CS5, 4 was uninstalled completely.
I had to re-install any CS4 app., 9.4 recognizes it and problem was solved. 9.4.1 works just fine.
    thanx

  • Installed Acrobat Pro 9 - requires password to open any PDF & botches InDesign exports to PDF

Installed CS4 on my new Mac, using the downloaded installation file. Everything works except Acrobat. I uninstalled Acrobat & reinstalled it. Same problems remain:
1a. Everytime I open a PDF, I get this message:  "Adobe Acrobat Pro wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this." I have to enter the username & password for my computer to open every PDF. Then they open correctly.
1b. If I open Acrobat from the Applications folder, without opening a file, I get the same message & must enter username & password to open Acrobat.
    2. From InDesign, I export PDFs using File > Export. The PDFs have little rectangles for about half the text in the entire document. I routinely export both hi-res (Print Quality) and lo-res (Smallest File Size) PDFs in InDesign & this happens with all of them.
Most of the work I do results in PDFs. None of them have password protection or other security. I don't see anything in Preferences that looks like it would relate to these issues. Help, please!

Go the the Applications -> Utilities folder. In there you will find the Disk Utility app. When you run that application, you can select your hard drive. Then click on the Fix Permssions button.

  • "Adobe Acrobat Pro [or whatever] wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this."

No doubt this is the wrong forum for this question, but there really does not appear to be "the" appropriate forum.
Every time I open Adobe Acrobat Pro, which I just installed, as well as other Adobe products, such as Photoshop, which I've used for a while, a dialog appears with the message, "Adobe Acrobat Pro [or whatever] wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this."
I searched in the forums here and saw that other users have had similar problems, but didn't find a solution. It obviously is annoying to have to enter my password every time I open Adobe products. Could someone tell me what is going on and how I can fix it?
    My OS is Mac Lion.
    Thank you.

    Do you have Acrobat 9?
If yes, please try following steps:
    1. Repair your current Acrobat installation
    a. Launch Acrobat
    b. Go to Help->Repair Acrobat Installation
    c. Check all the components and press Continue
    Missing components will be repaired
    2. Now, update your Acrobat.
    Go to Help->Check for updates
Update your Acrobat to latest version i.e. 952
    3. Again , Launch Acrobat. Acrobat would ask credentials for the first time.
    4. Quit Acrobat and launch Acorbat again. Acrobat should not ask for credentials now and for all subsequent launches . Please reply if you see a different behavior.

  • Failure to install Acrobat Pro Windows from cs3

I installed cs3 yesterday and it installed all apps but Acrobat Pro...I tried 3 times to install just Acrobat Pro but each time it stated "failed to install" - what can I do to install this?  Prior to this I ahd cs3 installed correctly (including Acrobat Pro) for a long while and all worked fine.  However, last week I suddenly had problems with Acrobat (it gave runtime error) so I uninstalled and tried to reinstall...then all the above occured.  At one point (just to view a doc) I installed current reader version from online...but promptly uninstalled it to try and reinstall Pro again...any help would be appreciated!  Kathy

Thanks...this worked...I am now closer than before to re-using the
software...however, now I have a new error message on Acrobat Pro from CS3:
"Missing PDFMaker files.  Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?"
When I select "yes" the system takes for ever to do nothing.  Any insight on
    this?
    Kathy

  • Acrobat Pro 8: When I print to pdf I get windows print error message

This just started happening when I installed my acrobat professional 8.0 on my new computer (with Windows XP Pro). Everything works fine, but when I print a document to .pdf, I get that windows printer pop-up message that says that it was unable to print. As a consequence, I get a bunch of allegedly unprinted documents in my printer queue that I have to keep deleting. This is more an annoyance than anything else, but can anyone tell me how to stop this from happening??
    THanks.

OK, I'm still not sure I'm getting this, but I printed to file, and then opened the prn file in Acrobat Distiller. The actual pdf file was not in the folder, but I could open it with distiller.

  • Error Message With Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 Free Trial Version

    Hi,
I know that this is a holiday weekend, but I need assistance with Adobe Acrobat 9 Free Trial Version.  I downloaded it, and then created a PDF file from MS Word 2007.  I tried to print, but the "save as" command popped up.  I had already saved it, so it already had a document name.  I tried resaving it and it would not do so.  Here's the error message that I received:
"Adobe PDF cannot access the file because it is in use by another application process.  Verify that the file is not open by another application or process and try again.
I did not have another app open.  Also, during this time, the software setup box kept popping up.  I kept selecting the 30 day trial version, but nothing would happen after I selected the button.  I am using the Vista OS on my computer.  I also have the Adobe Reader 9 which I have had for a while.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the free version of Adobe Acrobat 9 and got the same result as described above.  If someone can help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks.
    Michelle Williams

You have a problem. You cannot have Reader and Acrobat Pro on the same computer. It causes problems. Normally, I'd tell you to uninstall Reader and re-install Acrobat Pro, but doing so might make your trial fail and you cannot get two trials. For the moment when trying to create a pdf file, try printing to the the Adobe PDF virtual printer.

  • MAC installing Acrobat Pro X and Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium pop up ?

    Hello,
I have an Acrobat Pro X PKG (for MAC) from the Univeristy that should have a serial number inside the PKG. The installation works well.
On the Acrobat Pro lauch I saw the main windows, for 2-3 secondes and then it goes a way.  A Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium pops up  asking me a serial number???
    Thanks for your help

Thanks for your response, Mylenium.  I finally had time to try this on the weekend, and that cleaned up nearly all the warning messages, but unfortunately it didn't work for Acrobat Pro X.  I also deleted my old CS4 and ran the Cleaner Tool again, just in case that was causing problems.
I found this - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-1310-error-writing-file.html - and I patiently tried every solution mentioned, but after hours of mucking about with this and trying to install this many times I simply don't know what to do next.
The problem appears to be the Conflig.msi folder and I have checked that I have access to this folder right up until I run the CS6 install.  After I get a message saying that I haven't been able to install because it is unable to write to C:Config.msi I go back to that folder and find that my permissions have changed.  It seems to be the install process that changes this - is that possible?
I'm hoping someone from Adobe Support will read this and respond. It is very hard for me to access live chat as the hours only suit people in the US and I'm in Australia.

That is precisely what my mid-2010 MacBoook Pro 13 was doing before the drive finally died after an Apple Genius rebooted it a dozen or so times. I have since read about the exact same thing happening to others, including a writer for The Atlantic magazine who had never had an issue with a Mac before. Do a back-up ASAP to make sure you don't lose anything and see about replacing the HDD. It is only about $140 for a new drive. The real issue is if you lose your data, too. So, make sure you do that back-up!
