Pop Up Windows overview
My first web site is up and running. It's pretty basic but I now want to develop my skills and the site itself. To start I want people to be able to click on a thumb size image and open the image in full size in a separate window. Searching the forum and other places it's seems there are many ways this can be done, extensions purchased etc, but they all use more than just HTML. They also seem to be designed to met more commercial needs such as advertising. Can anyone point me to somewhere that gives an overview of the various ways these windows can be achieved. Can they be done with HTML for example. At this stage I'm not looking for detailed instructions, rather, I want to understand some of the underlying issues and principles, and get pointed in the right direction. I use DW CS4 on Mac OS X.
Within Dreamweaver itself, you can attach the Open Browser Window behaviour to the thumbnail and have it open up a new window with a full image.
You could also look at using the Lightbox effect which is very popular: (and more appealing than the standard open window behaviour :-)

Websites might occasionally want to store information, such as your high score from a game that runs in Flash Player or what products you have purchased, to your computer. In the Global Storage Settings panel, you can control how much disk space websites can use to store information, or you can prohibit websites from storing any information at all. When you visit a website, the address shown in the browser address bar is usually where most of the website is located. For example, if you visit a fictional website www.[hotel].com, most of the website is located at www.[hotel].com. Sometimes, websites combine content from different sources. For example, www.[hotel].com might display a reservations form in Flash that actually comes from [reservations.hotel].com. The content from the latter website is called third-party content.
Third-party content might try to store information on your computer. In the hotel reservations example, you might be willing to let [reservations.hotel].com store information on your computer, such as data about which hotels you prefer, so that you can make a hotel reservation. However, you might not be willing to let third-party content store information on your computer in other situations. For example, a car-rental company, www.[my-car-rental].com, might have a banner ad on www.[hotel].com, to track your website usage or to record your preferences.
To prohibit all third parties from storing information on your computer, deselect Allow Third-Party Content To Store Data On Your Computer. This option is available only with Flash Player 8 and later. Adobe recommends that you upgrade to the most recent version of Flash Player available.
(Flash Player 9.0.115.0 and later) If you do not want to store Flash components on your computer, deselect Store Common Flash Components To Reduce Download Times.
Flash Player lets you store common or shared SWF and FLV files and other components from different websites on your computer to significantly reduce download times and allow faster viewing. For example, www.[hotel].com and [reservations.hotel].com might both use the same Adobe components on their sites.

How to use one pop up window for multiple buttons and input fields?
Hi Experts,
I have created a pop up window that will be opened from multiple buttons in the same view. There are input fields that the data will be populated from a pop up window. How can I set up which button that a pop up window is opened from? I also would like to populate the data from a pop up window to the input field next to a clicked button. There are 6 buttons and 6 input fields that share the same pop up window. I would very appreciate your responses.

Try creating 2 context attributes, one in your component controller and the other in the pop-up view. Bind the attribute of pop-up view to the component controller attribute.
In the main view, on click of every button set a unique code in the controller's context which helps you in identifying the button clicked. Since u have created a binding to the pop-up view attribute the value flows from the controller.
In the init method of your pop-up view, check the value of the attribute and based on that display which ever UI elements are required.
Eg:
On Button 1 click set value "B1", Button 2 value "B2" etc. In the init() of pop-up view u can check the values and perform the required operation:

Since installing 3.6.9 my Joomla content editor pop-up windows no longer return the URLs selected
I recently upgraded to Firefox 3.6.9 and found that when using the editor in a Joomla 1.0.15 website , the content editor pop-up windows no longer return URLs selected (eg: image or file URL to be used in a link). I have been using the site with no problems for many years, and the problem was cured when I reinstalled 3.6.8
Thanks cor-el but the problem is not in my web development but is a new issue/problem in FireFox which was not present in all versions up to and including version 3.6.8 and was only introduced in version 3.6.9. I have also established that the same problem also exists in FireFox version 4 beta 6 and have therefore also raised a second question today.
My understanding was that I should raise these issues in this forum, but I will also check out the other forum. -

We have a issue like this: Say, there is a Customer who has given an order of ABC product 10 packs to the sales employee. And the order is placed on say 15.09.2011 and as we could not produce the product the next two days also, the product is not delivered to the customer. So again on 17.09.2011, when the customer is giving order to the sales employee he gives the same order again. And the same order is posted again. This is causing wrong data in Net Pending Sales orders.
I have three options now:
1. Block the order using SP_TransactionNotification, but this way the order gets stalled.
2. Setting up an alert.
3. Setting up for an approval procedure.
Our team does not want any of the above, instead they would like to see a pop up window which gives the info that the same product and quantity there is an open order existing for the same customer. And pop up should have Yes and No button, clicking on Yes the new order gets added and No will return to the order, where the row is deleted and added again.
Our SAP version is SAP B1 8.81 PL 06 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2. Do we have any way to achieve this.

The same thing you can achieve through SDK.
You need to set a small addon for this in order to get the Pop Up which checks whether the Order for the same combination does exist or not.....
So I would request you to please post the same query to the SDK Forum where you get Expertise Answer and close this thread here.......

Need a way to disable "Exception" button for "Block Pop-up windows" in Tools-> Options -> Content tab. I want to be able to do this for Locking Down Firefox preferences.

Pop-up windows from the portal showing address bar
Hi,
I am not sure where to post this thread, but here goes. My client has the CRM web UI which has been integrated into SAP Portal 7.3. I am not aware of how this is done as I am not familiar with CRM.
The issue being faced is that when a user tries to create a new opportunity etc, the pop-up window opens. But an address bar is seen in the pop-up. This was not appearing when they were on an earlier version of EP.
I am not sure where I should be looking to remove the address bar. Is this something related to the web UI and not the portal?

How can I create a text pop up window in my Pages document? I want text to pop up when the reader hovers his/her cursor over a certain word in the document. I am teacher. So for example when a student came to word he/she did not know, if he/she hovered the cursor over the word, a defintion or other information would appear. You can do this in Word using bookmarks/hyperlinks but I can't figure this out in Pages. I can link it to another point in my Pages document but I just need the text to pop up - not take the reader to another location. THANK YOU!!!!!!

You will need to test if links survive export or printing to .pdf

ACROBAT XI Pro -EDIT TOOL SET - POP-UP WINDOW IS TOO LARGE

I've been experiencing very nagging problem since installing recent Acrobat Xi Pro uodate (on windows 7 system):
Specifically - I cannot edit/change the TOOL SET to include needed TOOLS (i.e., that were all previously in my Tool set) as the EDIT TOOL SET WINDOW (i.e., pop-up
window) is TOO LARGE and does not allow scrolling/ or moving down to SAVE any tool sets and or tool set changes. Very frustrating as all attempts (and recommendations from reviews/support) for decreasing the size of EDIT TOOL SET WINDOW (popup) in order to save (i.e. include ANY) tools have been unsuccessful. So for past week I've been unable to include/use any TOOLS for working in (i.e., editing/commenting etc) pdf's. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Would greatly appreciate any / all steps & recommendations for fixing.

If check for updates says that you have the latest, see if the setting: Edit->Settings->General->Basic Tools->Scale for screen resolution and try various options (you'll have to restart Acrobat with each selection) -
Would appreciate in connecting Remote App on iPad to iTunes. It used to work find, before iTunes 11.0 - but now pop up window to input 4 digit code does not appear. Any ideas how to prompt window to open on iMac? Remote App works OK, but says that Home Sharing is not Turned On, although it is. Both devices are logged into my profile account.

They are small pop-up windows. When I start entering in keywords to search, ever so often, these things pop-up and not just one. Many of them. Popping one upon another upon another upon another. I cannot enter anything new into the Google search box until I have closed all of these windows. And, commonly, numerous ones of them will pop up again when I enter in the next letter in my search.
This is what it says in the pop-up box:
Along the top it says in the light blue margin "Opening search"
Under the above and in a white box it says:
"You have chosen to open
[a Windows symbol] search
which is a: application/json

Then on the outline of an inner box, it reads "What should Firefox do with this file?" and it gives the following options:
Open with ["Browse" button]
DownThemAll!
Save File [This one is checked as the default]
Then a check-off box with the text next to it: "Do this automatically for files like this from now on.
Under that is an "OK" button that is gray and cannot be checked and a "Cancel" button that can be. I have never done either but used the "X" in the upper right corner of the box to close out this window.

When a pop up window comes up it is - search bookmarks and history window! I cannot log into my bank as login button should open new window to log in but I get the search page. I cannot see larger images as again I get the search bookmarks and history page etc. Happens on all options that should open new page. After that again I have to close that pop-up window(i.e. B) and return back to window A.

You could create a Value Node named Popup which contains a VA WindowInstance of type IWDWindow and define the context mapping.

Some of my web pages open a new pop-up window for entering credentilas and display sensitive information. After upgrading t0 3.6.12 i found that firefos is not opening pop-up windows (earlier version allowed). When I close the browser, it gives a quit message saying there are unclosed tabs and windows of firefox. shall they be saved for next time start.
Also observed that the memory usage (from Task manager)is very high compared to earlier ones and the process is not closed even if I close the browser.3.6.13 is also behaving similarly.
