POP3 Email on Droid 4

I set up a pop3 account on my wife's Droid 4.  For some reason it will not mirror our email.  If I send a message from her Droid 4 it is received by our account and her device.  I sent a test email from her device to Verizon support and it was received by our account but not her device.  It seems she cannot receive messages back even though all settings seem to be correct.  When the account was first setup it downloaded about 6 messages and then quit working.  Am I missing a setting?

Thank you, the information was very helpful.  I now see what the problem is.  Messages download to the phone first when they hit the frontier server but once received and sent from the server to outlook they are removed from my phone.  I know there is a way for the message to reside at both locations and hopefully you can help me.
Thank you,
Fred

  • POP3 Email on Droid and on computer's Outlook

We have some personal POP3 email accounts with an internet service provider, and we've been using MS Outlook to retrieve and manage them.
We just got a Droid X, and set up these personal email accounts on it, and after some struggles finally got emails to start coming into the Droid.
HOWEVER, whatever mail messages go the Droid are now NOT going to Outlook like we want it to. Before the DRoid, we had a BlackBerry, and the emails worked fine, all emails going both to Outlook and the BB. But now it looks like each email only goes to one or another.
What can we do to make sure the emails go to both?

  • POP3 email push like my Droid does....

I am a little disappointed that I can't push my business pop3 email account like I can with my old Droid.  We don't have an Exchange server so is there any work around for this or will it ever become an option?

        Hello bfrasure,
It is very convenient to be able to use the trusted devices feature on your previous phone. This is a software for Motorola devices to allow the phone connect to trusted Bluetooth devices. At this time, this is not available with the iPhone, however, there may be third party applications that function similar to the trusted devices feature. If you decide to download a third party application, please be sure to read reviews to understand how it may affect your device.

  • POP3 email cross-coupling between headers and body

I have three POP3 email accounts set up on my DROID.  Lately, about one out of ten of the messages I get will have the body of one message shown under the header of a completely unrelated message.  If I choose "reply" or "forward" I will see the correct body for the header, but the receipient of the replay or forwarded message may see the erroneous body and not my text.  If I log into the accounts from my computer, the messages are fine: header matches body.  What's the problem here -- and more importantly, how do I fix it?

What app are you using to check your POP3 accounts?  The one that was included on the Droid, or something you downloaded from the Marketplace?
An easy solution might be to go to the Marketplace and grab a different e-mail app and see if that fixes the problem.

  • LG Ally - deleting pop3 emails from trash folder

I have three pop3 email accounts set up on my LG Ally. All work great - however, deleting the all the emails in the trash folder is cumbersome. Is there a way to delete all the emails in the "trash folder" at one?  I can only seem to delete them by tapping each email individually and then tapping delete. This is a really slow process.
Also, is there a way to adjust my pop3 email settings so that the trash folder is deleted automatically every so often?
    Thank you!

There is not a delete all option to delete all the emails at once for  the default email application.   You also can not set a schedule to delete the trash folder.   There are other email applications with more customization options on the Android Market Place.

  • HT201320 I want to set up a POP3 email account but in all the help I have found so far I should get the option to choose IMAP or POP.  This doesn't appear and I need POP3 because I don't want anything deleted from the mail server.  I have an iPhone 5s and

How do I set up a POP3 email account on my iPhone5s, using iOS 7.1.1.  All the help I have found tells me to select IMAP or POP but I am not given the choice.  I need to be able to set 'Don't delete from mail server' which can't be done in IMAP.

  • Is there a workaround app for syncing shared POP3 email?

    Hello,
I wonder if a lot of families have this problem. I have a POP3 email ,verizon.net, that is our family email shared between my wife and I. I am tired of deleting the same emails from my iPad and my iPhone over and over so I am looking to find a way to set it up like this:
verizon.net email goes to my wife's devices and my devices
when I delete an email, it deletes from all of my devices and none of hers (i have an iPad, macbook, and iPhone)
when she deletes an email it deletes from all of hers and none of mine. (she has an iPhone and macbook)
So its kind of like a POP3 server splitting to two separate IMAP servers;  my wife's and mine.
I have tried automatic forwarding on verizon's end but I can only forward to one address and it causes issues with return addresses not matching when I reply so emails get identified as spam more often. In addition, when I do forward email automatically on verizon's server side (not on the client) it is no longer delivered to the original email account.
We want to avoid changing email addresses and verizon only offers POP3.
    Any ideas everyone?

Nope, its a POP server acting like a pop server where the settings on each device have it so email is left on the server and only deleted from the devices.
This means all devices can download the email from the server, but its never really removed from the server, only from the devices upon deletion, unless one of the devices is set to have it deleted from the server when its deleted from the device.
Basically, what you want is not possible, as you want an IMAP functionality on only specific devices. IMAP is designed to sync actions across all devices using the account.  Because basically what happens is actions take place on the server, and then trickle down to the devices.
On POP accounts its the opposite. Actions take place on the Devices and then if configured as such may move up to the server.

  • HT201320 how to set a pop3 email account on ipad retina

  • Iphone and Outlook pop3 email

    Hello,
I know there's a known issue with having outlook open and the iphone on at the same time with pop3 email accounts. is there another way around this issue besides creating an additional email account and forwarding those emails to the iphone?
the reason i am asking this is, when you respond to a message from the iphone, it responds from the additional email account which confuses users sometimes. or is there a workaround for fix for this problem? i don't have the exact message in front of me but i believe it says something like this 'another program is managing your email...'.
with my hotmail account i don't have this issue. this is because hotmail is imap not pop3? please correct me if i'm wrong.
any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
    have a great day!

It sounds like Outlook is set to remove messages from the server when retrieving email.
Try clicking on File-->Account Settings-->Select your account and click change-->click More Settings-->click the Advanced Tab and check the box to leave a copy of the emails on the server.
You can then also choose to have the emails removed from the server after x number of days or when the email is deleted from the Deleted Items box

  • Can I back & restore up my pop3 emails???

I have a iphone 4 using pop3 email (GMX) which is good, no problems there. However if I want to back up and restore these emails from my iphone 4 to my new iphone 4s this is apparently not possible. Accoring to Apple support today when you do a back up the emails are NOT backed up, I mean, what is that all about, I thought that a backup was a backup, apparently not and I find this very, very dissapointing and it may be enough to send the 4s phone back.
Anyone have any ideas if this is possible?
    Thanks,
    Ally

You can backup and restore all your email settings, but not the emails themselves. (except for some web-based email systems like yahoo.com)

  • MacMail 6.3 Is Not Receiving My Pop3 Emails

Just recently, my Pop3 email accounts are not being received by MacMail 6.3 on my MacBook Pro.  All the connections are good and the mail is sitting on my Webmail accounts but NOT tranferring to MacMail.
How can this be rectified?  Is there a limit to the number of emails in MacMail? Is there a limit to the size of the total emails in MacMail?

You are welcome. I hope everything continues to work. Computer frustration isn’t one of my favorite pastimes.

  • Outlook pop3 email receiving problem

    Dear Sir,
I am using Office 365 Home Plus and my Outlook stopped receiving emails a week ago. Before that it was working fine.
Safe mode does not help, new profile does not help. I can Access my pop3 email on webmail but when I try to receive emails through Outlook, it hangs. At the bottom I see a very very slow "emails receiving email 1 of 105" but nothing happens.
I have also gmail working in Outlook and it Works fine. I have checked my email through service provider and there is nothing wrong there.
I will appreciate it very much if you could please help.

    Hi,
The issue doesn't exist with the Gmail account, I suspect it may be caused since the POP3 .pst file is corrupted.
Please run Scanpst.exe to repair the data file to try again:

Please also disable the firewall and the anti-virus program to test the result.

  • Can I sync my talktalk/Pop3 emails using iCloud?

I do not want to change from using my talktalk / pop3 email address to my icloud address. Is there a way that I can sync these emails across my iPad and PC? I have icloud up and running on both devises and use Outlook 2010 on th PC.

No, iCloud does not (and technically can not) 'sync' external POP3 email accounts.
If you want your email to be 'in sync' across multiple computers and devices, it just needs to be setup as IMAP (not POP3) on every device. You do not need iCloud to do this, and if you don't want to use an iCloud supplied email address then it couldn't help you with this anyway.
Contact your email provider and ask them for the IMAP email settings. Not all email providers offer IMAP, although most modern ones do. If they don't offer IMAP, then you are stuck. POP3 does not allow 'syncing' of email across multiple devices.

  • Cannot configure a POP3 email account.  Using OSX10.8.2

All of a sudden my wife's AT&T Yahoo mail account stopped working.  I looked at settings and found the account was changed to an IMAP instead a POP account.  I deleted the account and attempted to re-create it to no avail.  Seems when I put her account info in, it automatically creates an IMAP account.
How can force it to accept POP?
    Thanks

  • Have 1 POP3 email account I want to work like IMAP email in icloud. Apple suggested created a new Apple ID just for POP3. Has anyone tried this to see if it works and will delete across multiple devises?

Have 1 POP3 email account I want to work like IMAP email in icloud (keeps my iMac, iPhone, ipad mail in sync). Apple suggested trying creating a new Apple ID just for that POP3 email. Has anyone tried this to see if it works and will delete/update across multiple devises? Would mean keeping up with two Apple ID accounts but only other alternative I know of is paying for monthly service for Microsoft 365.

would I be able to "upload" (not sure how else to say it) my existing folders and subfolders containing all my emails so that they are all available on my new IMAP service, while still being available on my Mac?
Not easily, no. There's no direct transfer option between POP and IMAP, especially across email providers. The best you could do would be to forward all of your emails to your new address, although it's not clear that you need to - dropping your sbcglobal.net account doesn't instantly render all your existing mail void - it'll still be in your Mail client, you can still read it, search it, etc., it just won't be on your provider's server.
I have toyed with the idea of getting a MobileMe account. Would that solve my issue/question above?
MobileMe would be viable, especially if you're interested in synching your various iOS devices. It's not free, of course, unlike Yahoo and Gmail, although you've already discounted them...
I have also toyed with purchasing my own URL, but it's hard to tell from the sites (1and1, Namecheap, etc.) if they come with IMAP email accounts included.
Some registrars offer email hosting bundles with a domain registration. This could be a good way to go. GoDaddy, for example, have a email hosting option for domains you register with them.
