Popping noise with the X-fi extream mu

?I am getting popping noise when I play games with the x-fi card. Music and other applications run flawless and sounds great. I only get the noise while playing games. I have read all the troubleshooting ideas from this site and none seem to fix the problem. I have all the latest drivers for the bios, video cards, x-fi, and windows xp. The x-fi card is on its own IRQ. I have reinstalled the OS and drivers multiple times. I have turned down the hardware acceleration? for the video card. I have a 600 watt power supply ...and that should be enough power to run my system. I have everything turned off in the bios that I am not using. I have tried some more stuff ...just cant think of it at the moment...... I am running a Asus motherboard and have read that there is some problems with the 2 devices working together and if that is the case is there a fix out yet?...

Primus, i have exactly the same problem as you. Only have it in games.. In windows, mp3, movies sound perfect... so as i said... pop pop pop in games... no fix yet, i hope they will fix it... but dont have you?re hopes up... CL have known about this problem for a long time now, and still havent done anything about it!!! Shows ya kind of how they work!!! They figure surely that they already sold us these soundcards, why should they spend any of those money on us fixing this... they can instead sell some more cards... Stupid CL... they just dont get it!! Message Edited by HaZe303 on 02-24-20060:57 AM

Anyone have no service pop up with the new update and stay like that

Try a Reset holding the Sleep button and the Home button together until Apple logo shows up and then wait for the Reset to return you to the lock-screen.   If you still don't have service check Settings>General>About and then scroll down to Carrier and see if your Service Provider is listed.

  • Why does my Mac air make a lot of noise with the fan inside?

I bought Mac air one year ago. at the beginning, I satisfied with the product. However, 8 months later, the laptop made a lot of noise from the fan inside. When I I run about 4 or 5 solfwares, it starts warmer and make noise. I feel so unhappy with this. How can I fix it. I bought AppleCare programme for 3 years as well
    Thanks

The mid 2011 MacBook Air fans are pretty quiet but not silent and since they are the only mechanical decice you'll hear - there's no hard drive or DVD drive to make noise - it is possible that what you hear is normal. On the other hand, fans can go bad - bearings fail and dust an make the blades become unbalanced. None of us can help - you'll need to take the computer to a repair center or Apple Store and let an Apple repair person determine if the fans need replacing or not. If so, your warranty will cover the cost.

  • Popping noise with headphones and dialing a phone number in iOS6

After upgrading my iPhone 4S to iOS6, I hear a loud pop when dialing the first number for a phone call and wearing the headphones.  I did not have this problem on iOS5.  My wife's iPhone4 had the same problem.  Anyone else experience this?

I have been struggling with this as well. I'm puzzled that I haven't found a solution. Conference calls in the "location" of Exchange appointments are pretty commonplace in my work environment and I have to think I'm not unique. I am currently using a "workaround". First I found that you can use a comma as a soft pause (3 seconds from the call connecting). That however didn't work when I tried it inside of the calendar details. The number becomes dial-able, but it ignores everything after the comma and treats it as normal punctuation. Since commas only work from inside the address book I just created address book entries for all of the bridge numbers I call on a regular basis. This doesn't solve the problem by any means but it solves it somewhat until they figure out that if the really want to be an enterprise device they need to copy Blackberry now and then whether they want to or not. What we need is numbers that are dial-able from not just inside the details, but in the header fields of an appointment - since that's where the organizer is usually going to put them in my experience. And please give us the "x" for a hard pause. I guess I should submit that huh? Anyway, I hear you. I doubt I was much help though, sorry.

  • Popping noise from the speakers.

Today is the first time I've noticed it but also the first time I've used the machine in a truely quiet enviroment. After turning it on I hear slight popping sounds come from the speakers. Mostly the left speaker but a few times the right. Keep in mind there is NO audio playing while it does this.
Maybe its a heat up issue of some sort because while I logged in and typed this it seems to have stopped.
    Anyone else have this happen?

I wanted to contribute to this topic.
I have had my MacBook Pro for 3 months now without any negatice issues of any sort. This is the best, most incredable machine I have ever owned. The other day, after installing a bunch of Widgets, .Mac Podcast pack for Garage Band, and other downloads such as custom icon sets and backgrounds, I noticed that a popping sound began to be emitted out of the left side of my MBP. This sound occurs aproxiamtly ever 20 to 30 seconds. I have rebooted, shut down and restarted, and cleared the cache, etc. many times in the last 3 days with no success at quieting the popping sound.
The only thing that changed on my end was the first time use of Garage Band, and the before mentioned added software to my MBP. Does anyone else who has this problem use that software or modifications?
Is it possible that it is simply a software malfunction causing the sound to be emitted?
Again, after 3 full months my usage patterns have not changed except for this added software/downloads, so I am assuming that since they occurred symotaniously that they are correlated. I hope this is helpful to anyone, end user or Apple themselves.
    Comments/Suggestions/Ect. welcome
    Thanks!

  • When a link is rolled over by the mouse pointer a very annoying pop up with the link address shows up. There seems to be no way to prevent this from happening. How can this pop up be made to go away?

no matter what website, every time I move the mouse pointer over something to click on a line of black printing in a thin white box pops up at the bottom of the screen and shows me the http address of the item I'm about to click on. I want to shut this function off or remove it if possible. I find that the previous version did not do this, it seems to be unique to 6.0. It's VERY distracting and ANNOYING. How can I make it go away????

When you hover the mouse cursor over any link, it will display the link details at the bottom left of the screen; black font on white background.
This display can be very important as it shows the full address of the hyperlink. This can be particulary useful for checking on whether the link is bona-fida. For example; if you receive an email that looks like it is from a bank , hovering over the link will indicate instantly that the link is pretending to be something it isn't.
Another example that can be useful; a website link may say 'contact me' rather than give the actual email address. However, when you hover over the link, the actual email address will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. If you click on the link then Outlook usually opens, however I do not use Outlook, so displaying the email address is useful.
This display is something that has always been present and it is also displayed if you use IE.
However, I can see that this annoys you, so you could try the following:
After installing the addon, you will need to restart Firefox, then go to History and Restore previous session to get all your tabs and webpages back.
You will now find that when you hover over any link, it will now display in your address bar on the right hand side.
If this helps, please say this question has been solved.

  • I have changed my Apple ID on my iPad, but my iPhone keeps popping up with the old ID.....how do I get all my devices to use the same ID?

How can I get all my devices to use the same Apple ID?

Different services on your iOS device (iMessage, Facetime, iCloud, iTunes and App Store) can be signed into with an Apple ID of your choice. Make sure you verify the settings for each device and that you are signed in to each service with the correct Apple ID.
I'll do an example for iMessage:
    1) Go to settings on your iOS device
    2) Select "Messages"
    3) Select "Send & Receive"
    4) At the very top you will see "Apple ID", by selecting your Apple ID, you will now have the option to sign out of messages with the current Apple ID, and sign in with the new one.
The steps for changing your Apple ID for other services will be very similar.
tHIS SHOULD BE VERY HELPFUL TOO YOU.

  • I did something so that when I am on fb on this comp., I can't see anyones pics, or my own. I saw something pop up with the option to undo, but didnt get to it in time. I was right clicking on photos trying to copy and paste. Any one know what I did?

When i right clicked on pic, an option was there .I can not remember what it said except something like "Block fb"

You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions" (e.g. sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net)
*Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
*Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
*Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
*Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
*Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
*If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

  • Pop noise all the time

Ive have had my macbook for week or something, i love it
When in a silent room, working with my mac, you can hear everything,
I have noticed a click/pop/plop sort of noise every 1 or 2 minutes when in use
i dont feel nothing is wrong
    Do you have the same
    Any answers appreciated

I am having the same issue with my macbook that I bought 15 days ago.
after long searches I found out that this was an issue about hard disk trying to park its head too often.
and someone created a software to fix this problem, its called declunk. you can download it from this adress: http://kiza.kcore.de/software/declunk/
but unfortunately the installation instructions are wrong, but luckily someone else posted the right installation instructions at another forum. after opening the .dmg file follow those steps:
    1. Open a Terminal window yourself and "cd /Volumes/declunk", then run the script from there. (You should be able to just drag it into the Terminal window and hit return.) If you're not prompted for your password, the install failed.
    2. After that, you'll have to shut down, not just restart. Next time you start, Declunk will be running.
I did the installation this way and there is no popping coming now from macnook. I think this is a bug of Leopard, because it is not happening at windows xp that I installed using boot camp.
also at some topics I saw that people are talking about another solution, which is downloadable from this adress: http://mckinlay.net.nz/hdapm/ they say that it is a better solution then decluck, but I haven't tried it yet.
    hope this helps...

  • ITunes playback 'clicks & pops' - quicktime with the same file doesn't

I've recently noticed that iTunes is playback my music with clicks 'n pops. It makes the listening to music unbearable. I've tried to resolve the situation by testing many different things.
After a bit of testing I can say that:
    * The problem is not parameters selected when ripping a CD. It seems that 'all' audio pumping through my speakers is clicking even 'bought' music from the iTunes store.
    * The problem is not settings in iTunes. I've checked the menu and unchecked the 'sound enhancer' option - this seems to have no affect on the clicking.
    * The problem is not the source audio file. If I play the same file in QuickTime or any other application ... it plays back fine.
    * The problem is not my speakers and audio setup ... I've checked using my speakers, my headphones plugged into my sound-card ... and headphones plugged directly into my Mac.
I've been using iTunes for some time and I've only recently started noticing this problem. Unfortunately I can't give an exact date as to when it started doing this to check if it falls in line with any updates.
Can anyone offer any advice on this matter? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

lol... have to say that macs don't "just work" as they want everyone to believe. plus, if there is any kind of problem you can't try to fix it yourself unlike a PC... but anyway I digress
    I have the same problem:
I just updated to 8.0.2.20 and now everything I plays skips and sounds like an old scratched LP record (remember those???).
This is not related to equalizer settings or hardware settings or anything else... you have people who have been using iTunes just fine until version 8 then all of a sudden massive problems... there are dozens and dozens of posts about this problem now. It has nothing to do with any settings, as people have been fine with prior versions, the common thread is that they've all upgraded to version 8.
And you shouldn't have to stop using equalization or change anything you had before either.
This is a BUG in VERSION 8. It seems that this version is full of bugs from what I have read across the internet-- has Apple started finally releasing crappy software? (It is inevitable). Maybe this is from outsourcing all the coding to countries where English is not the native language-- who knows.
In any event, before I updated (from an earlier version of 8) I noticed Itunes stopped playing any sound at all. After I updated it gave me the error message telling me I had to delete/re-install quicktime. I did and now the clicking and popping. I re-installed/repaired directly from the website. Still nothing.
My music plays perfectly from any other application. This is an iTunes BUG in VERSION 8.
Also, as others have noticed new oddities in the way itunes behaves in version 8. Some have tremendous CPU usage or problems with internet. My hard drive rattles and buzzes whenever I start iTunes!!!! That scares the h*ll out of me! No other app does this and I can load all my music with any other app just fine-- no buzzing of the hard drive.
I'm running a new machine with max'd RAM, 2 TB of drives hooked into a Windows Home Server with 9TB of music and video. I'll try rebuilding the library... but darn it how come no other problems with any other app? Media Monkey plays everything fine, for exmaple. GOTTA be iTunes.

  • Ok, this has been going on for a while. Whenever I try to record my voice or any noises with the built in microphone, it plays back super quietly, even when I like yell or put it close to my mouth. Do I need a new iPod? Or is there something I can do?

    Help please!

    - Make sure the mic hole is clear and unobstructed. It is the little hole on the back by the camera lens
    - Open the Voice Memos app and see if you see movement on the VU meter needle with changes in noise level trying to be recorded.
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • When I have set up one Apple ID, new to both my laptop and my iPad, trying to install Facebook the iPad pops up with the wrong ID .

I have set up a new Apple ID but when trying to install Facebook the wrong ID comes up asking for password.

You can go to Settings > Itunes & App Stores > Apple ID to check to see that your new ID is set here. If not, you can tap on the Apple ID to Sign out, then Sign in with your new ID and it should automatically pop it up when you try to download/but things in the App Store on your device.

  • My brand new Iphone 5s keeps popping up with the Apple ID log in box, and then it dissapears before i get the chance to type my password.

Bassically i just got my new iphone 5, everything was going fine up untill the Apple ID login box started appearing and then dissapearing before i get the chance to type the password. It pops up every 10 to 20 seconds, and dissapears just as quick as it popped up. I have turned the device on and off, and I have rebooted it. I checked for 'waiting downloads' or 'paused downloads' and there are none. i can still use everything on the phone, but this log in box popping up so often is going to get extremely annoying, im already contemplating sending it back!!!

    PROBLEM SOLVED! HAHA
I did a full restore via iTunes.
