Popping sent mail / blackberry

hi there,
tried to search the boards for this topic but was unable to find any info; if there's already a thread please let me know...
so here's my issue: i just got a blackberry and have been sending a lot of emails from it. unlike sending mail from the mac mail program, the sent emails don't go into my sent box in mac mail. they do however go into my yahoo sent box (from where i pop my mail into mac mail).
aside from manually moving the sent mail into the inbox from the yahoo mail website and then letting it pop into my mac mail inbox then moving it into the sent box, is there an easier way to do this?
i have pocketmac software, but unsure if this can do that...
thanks much.

Looks like perhaps a failure to decode Base 64 Content Transfer Encoding. Maybe stripping of headers that tell Mail to do that by server somewhere along the line? No idea how to fix.

  • Retrieve POP sent mail on iPhone?

    Hi
My dad's just upgraded to a 3GS, but he uses some essential e-mail accounts that unfortunately are POP only. He still has his old 3G which has all the old sent mail. Is there any way to retrieve this, be it through iTunes or another application? (PhoneView doesn't seem to do it).
    Thanks in advance.

He can forward them to himself.
You might also check out TouchCopy or something like this, see if any of them saves sent POP mail:
    http://homepage.mac.com/vaughn/msync/
For future reference: If using POP on the phone (which is not ideal), it's a good idea to BCC yourself on all sent mail, because of this problem. I also access POP accounts from both phone and desktop, which creates an archive on the desktop.
(POP is not really designed to be accessed from multiple devices, but it's been okay for me)

  • Where is Sent mail stored in POP account?

    OK;
I should know this and Wikipedia doesn't explain it, but in using Mail under a POP account where "leave mail on server for x time " is selected, are both the incoming and outgoing mail saved on server or only the incoming? I ask because I am trying to restore a POP account using a TM backup that is a few days old. I know the incoming mail will be there for the time since the backup because I checked "leave on server", but will the Sent mail be there also?

Mail that you send is stored in the Sent Messages.mbox folder for the account, in your Library/Mail folder. It is not stored on the server.

  • Mail.03 will download received mail from Gmai uising pop but not sent mail

After upgrading to Leonard, I decided to reconfigure my gmail with Mail.03 (hopping to eliminate the non sound issue when new mail arrives. Prior to this Gmail downloaded all received and sent mail. After, only received mail is downloaded but sent mail is No not. (Nor can I successfully send mail using Mail 0.3 through gmail.
I tried setting up an imap account and could not download any sent or received items.

    Hi Hector.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is stored.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    4. Move any “IMAP-” or “Mac-” account folders to the Trash. Note that you can do this with IMAP-type accounts because they store mail on the server and Mail can easily re-create them. DON’T trash any “POP-” account folders, as that would cause all mail stored there to be lost.
    5. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
    6. As a side effect of having removed the IMAP account folders, those accounts may be in an “offline” state now. Do Mailbox > Go Online to bring them back online.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • Help!  Migrated from POP to IMAP - Lost Sent Mail!

    Hello all,
OK, I messed up. It happens to us all, once in a blue moon (even if I knew better to back up BEFORE I tried something new, and it had been 3 months).
I've been using the Mail App with my Gmail accessed through POP Mail since 2005.
Today, I wanted to make a switch from the Mail app checking my Gmail account with POP to checking it with IMAP. It's the same Gmail account that I previously retrieved with POP, but now wanted to access through IMAP (better syncing ability through multiple machines).
I created a new IMAP account in the Mail Preferences.
I had meant to disable the POP account, but instead...I DELETED THE POP GMAIL ACCOUNT! This stupid accidental mistake has me kicking myself!
As a result, all of my sent mails are gone. My Inbox is synced up like it was before, but NOT my Sent Mail.
The last time I backed up was 3 months ago - so I could retrieve 5 years (minus last 3 months) worth of sent emails.
I've checked my Library / Mail Settings, and the Pop Gmail account is no longer there. That file, that has all my sent mail data, is not in the Trash - it's nowhere to be found.
I can find the file that has all my sent mail on a backup drive. (A .mbox file found in Library / Mail.) Since I have not backed up recently, I'm losing 3 months worth of sent emails.
Any help in retrieving it would be appreciated.
    thanks,
    Mike

    Mike,
Gmail, which is not true POP, captures a copy for the Sent on the server if you use their SMTP -- smtp.gmail.com. To see those messages captured that way requires web mail access and will not be seen by any other email client accessing as POP. I know this to be true, for I tested it when I once used POP with Gmail.
In general your comment is true for POP, as I well know.

  • Mail downloaded from POP account in Gmail appears in Sent mail

I have configured Gmail to download mail from two other POP accounts. I use Mail.app in OS X with IMAP to access my Gmail. I've noticed that when I receive a message from one of my POP accounts, it appears in my inbox but also as an unread message in my Sent mail folder. Why? Is there anything I can do to change this behavior?

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The Gmail account is set-up as IMAP. But it does download POP email from other accounts. It's a nice feature and one of the main reasons I just use Gmail now for all email.
I know I could just ignore the issue, but it bothers me to have unread messages in the Sent mailbox. Clutters up the interface.

  • How do I remove the "Sent from Blackberry" when sending e-mails?

I send e-mails from my Blackberry all the time, but I do not want it to say "sent from blackberry" on the e-mails. How do I fix this?

    Hello,
the answer of d_fisher concerns only those who don't use an Enterprise server.

  • POP Account sent mail

I have about 9 months worth of sent mail saved on my iphone primary mail account which happens to be a POP3. I will like to save/export/archive these messages to my desktop to free space. I know I can do this if it were a Gmail IMAP account or mobile me, but I could not fake the main account to become an IMAP by entering my mobile me email account data. There must be a way to save all this data.

You could have selected Always Bcc Myself so all sent messages would have been received in the account's Inbox mailbox for transfer to the account's Sent mailbox on your computer.
You can forward each sent message to yourself - to the same email address, or to another email address.

  • Mail & Exchange (imap) & Blackberry Server, sent mail not visisble on mobile

I have setup my email account using mail and a Microsoft Exchange server 2000.
I use imap to access the Mailboxes (inbox, trash, drafts, sent mail is stored on the server)
On the Exchange server a BES is running and synchronises my Mail to my mobile Device.
Now, when I write a Mail using outlook on my PC, every Mail I sent, also appears on the mobile device - as expected.
The same is not true when I write a Mail using Apple Mail.
Even, if The mail is appearing in the send items folder on the Exchange Server, for some reason the BES server does not pick it up.
Does anyone know a tweak for mail to make this work ?

Something is wrong with the Mail app the last week and half or so.  Messages are disappearing, not getting synched, don't stay in the saved folders they are moved to, jump back at later dates (even days later) to the original inboxes, etc.  Very unstable and unreliable.  It was working better for a few months before this latest update, but is an absolutely messy nightmare right now. Changes made in Apple Mail are not getting reflected in other mail apps or on the external mail servers in a reliable, usefull manner.  Some do, some don't.   Use another mail app until Apple gets this fixed.

  • BCC myself but sent mail not showing up in Mail

I have a BlackBerry. There is a setting where you can BCC an address for mail sent from the BlackBerry so you can have a copy of what you sent on your regular mail client. I've had this configured and it worked flawlessly with other POP3 mail clients I've used. Basically, the sent mail would be retrieved via POP3 as a regular message with the "from" and "to" fields intact. This is fine, and I don't care about being able to see "BCC" recipients. My problem is that Mail seems to be recognizing that the "from" address is the same as the "BCC" address and is getting rid of those messages for me, or ignoring them on the POP server. I thought of a few things, but none seem to be true -- My spam filter (SpamSieve) is not detecting the messages as spam. I also thought that perhaps Mail is doing something nifty like automatically moving the mail into sent folders. However, that's not true either. I also did a few different searches to see if my sent messages had come down somewhere and I was just missing them.
So now I'm stumped. Is Mail making decisions for me behind the scenes? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Bmoua,
What client did she use on the temporary computer? Outlook or outlook app or OWA?
If she used outlook, it may download the sent messages to the local pst.
In addition, I also recommend you use message tracking log to check if there are any messages had been sent out when she used temporary computer.

  • 8330 and sent mail copying

Sorry if this has been addressed before, but my 8330 for some reason has stopped sending copies of  messages sent from the 8330 to my MSN mail account sent mail folder.  This seems to have stopped about 2 weeks ago.
Any assistance would be great as I need to maintain copies of sent mail!
    Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
    I suggest the following steps:
    1) Register HRT
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    4) Delete and re-create the BIS conduit for this email account:

  • Issue with Sent mails from BB not showing in outlook

    Dear All,
I  configured my BB 8800 to work on my office email. We do not have a BES.
Concerns that i noticed are that the mails sent from my BB do not show up in the sent items of outlook.
The service is thru Airtel in India and the Tech support team of airtel mentioned that sent items would not show in outlook.
I really cant believe that such a thing can happen and Blackberry would release an incomplete mailing solution for non BES users.
Pls let me know if i can configure so that i can see my sent items in outlook :-)
    Rgds
    DC

This is true that sent items wont show in Outlook, unless you are using OWA to integrate your work account. If its POP, they wont show in sent items.
    Workaround:
-Log into BIS account and click on Edit beside your email address and in 'Auto BCC:' field enter your email address and save.
-Click on filters for your email address and add new filter, Filetr naem: Sent items; Apply filter when: "From" field and Contains: enter your email address and choose 'Do not forward messages to device' option and click on 'Add Filter'
On Outlook set up a filter for messages that come  from your email address to move to 'Sent items'
Summary: Auto bcc to bcc your address to get your sent mail, filter not to receive copies of those sent messages on BB and filter in Outlook to put  those messages in 'Sent Folder' Enjoy

  • Can't Sync IMAP Sent Mail on E72 and other issues!

Has anybody any idea why Nokia felt it a good idea to release a phone with a mail client, that supports IMAP, but DOESN'T sync your sent mail? It is such a ridiculous omition that I am lost for words. I actually recommended the E71 to our IT department a few years ago but the mail client was so poor, we ended up getting 15 phones and 15 Profimail licences. The IT department have asked me to recommend the next phone as the E71 was a big hit and I asked them to get me this E72 to test. It is with great reluctance that I am going to try the iphone instead and recommend that as I believe the mail client on it is very good and the E72's is totally hopeless unless you go through the Nokia Messaging server, which obviously a corporate isn't going too. Before I knee jerk though, has anyone else had this issue and found a way around it?
Also, the predictive text is shocking now, the web browser is so buggy and closes without warning due to memory issues all the time.
Oh, the optical control pad is dreadful and totally useless and the select key also doesn't work in off-line mode, so the E72 is useless on a plane.
Nice to see that Nokia took the very good E71, played with it, broke it, made it far worse and buggy, stuck a new case on then released it as the E72. I remember the days that a Nokia phone worked from the minute you bought it, but now with firmware updates Nokia feel they can release half baked phones by the dozen, monthly. Pathetic.
Oh, and this is the latest firmware, too!
And one other thing, OVI Suite, PC Suite and the umpteen other applications that all do useful things....can Nokia not just release one main PC support app that works and has ALL the features under one roof? I have to installed them all on my PC as well as loads of other sync and office apps on the phone (like OVI Files) just to do the obvious things that you use a modern smartphone for.
Nokia, there is a very obvious reason why you are losing market share at the moment, and it isn't because people trust Google or like DRM and fruit pictures on their phones. Get a grip will you?
If anyone can help primarily with the Sent Mail sync issue in Nokia Email (without suggesting I route all my mail through Nokia's unreliable servers and divulge all my passwords), I would be very Grateful Indeed.

I had a number of problems setting up Google Apps with my phone. Mail, Calendar and Tasks were not syncing.
    Mail
Ok here is the solution to your sent mails problem. I have spent far too long setting up google apps to sync properly with my new E72 (latest software installed). It really is a superb phone but if Nokia is not going to fully support integration with Google Apps with a simple app then Android and Blackberry will simply take over for Apps users. It really isn't up to Google to solve this its up to Nokia. Are you going to move from Google Apps or change your phone????
I have gmail and  business google apps accounts and both are now syncing properly with what seems to be pretty good Nokia email software on the phone. This is allowing me to receive, send, view attachments, view sent mail etc. Here are the steps I took from the beginning.
    1. Enable IMAP for the google accounts. Couldn't get anything to work otherwise.
    2. Follow this instruction https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78887
    3. Your inbox should now be working however you now need to map the folders you want to see on your mobile. While at your inbox go to >settings>mailbox settings>what to sync>folder subscriptions.
    4. Click on Gmail and highlight the folders you want to see
    5. Go back to your inbox and go to the dragdown list of folders and highlight 'More Folders'. Under 'Gmail' you will find your sent items along with attachments etc. Problem solved. Its not a pretty solution but at this stage like me you just want something that works.
    Calendar
This was a nightmare and I am now running a third party app called Googasync which is working fine. In 10 days time I will need to buy this so if someone knows how to setup calendar syncing properly without it please let me know.
    Tasks
Googasync will not sync Tasks and I don't know if there is any app out there that will. If someone can help please let me know. Surely this should be pretty simple!?!?!
By the way I mailed Nokia support last Thursday on the above but have not received a reply.
In summary its a great phone and I've moved from a Blackerry Bold to it but I shouldn't be spending days finding workarounds!!

  • How to download the "Sent Mail" folder from Gmail to Mail 4.1?

Since updating to Snow Leopard I no longer have any mail in my Sent Mail folder
when using IMAP in Mail 4.1. In fact just a few (258) of all my sent messages (3732)
    were properly downloaded.
I noticed that after configuring my Gmail to work with Mail/IMAP some new folders were
created. They are: [Gmail]/Sent Mail/Sent, [Imap]/Drafts, Sent messages, and Deleted Messages. Apart
from those, my Gmail account has always had standard folders such as Inbox, Sent Mail (the majority of my sent messages are in here), Drafts, Spam, and Trash. Apparently Mail is only downloading the messages from the new "Sent messages" folder and not the standard "Sent Mail", wherein all my sent messages actually are.
Another issue it that the spinning gear next to the Gmail Inbox in Mail 4.1 keeps spinning incessantly as if checking for new messages all the time even though it is set to check for new messages every 5 minutes and all messages has been downloaded. I have another IMAP account for my university's email which is working perfectly (neither problems with Sent Mail folder nor spinning gear). I will post the spinning gear problem in a separate question.
In my old MacBook I didn't have this problem when using Gmail with POP. This is the first time I'm using IMAP.
Is anybody having the same problems?
I appreciate your help in advance.

  • Question about Sent Mail folder contents

    Hi Everyone.
this question requires a fair amount of background -- I tried my usually very helpful users' group and didn't get any responses. Here's the story:
I upgraded my macbook pro to Leopard partly because I thought Time Machine would make me backup more regularly (it has). I have a few sporadic backups from prior to the upgrade, and then I backed up right before I upgraded. I had a disk error during my first attempt at an archive & install, found that the disk was wiped, thanked my lucky stars I backed up beforehand, ran disk utility on the disk, and then did an erase & install instead.
After the upgrade, I used the migration assistant to restore my user account from my backup. At some point after the fact, I noticed that my sent mail mailbox in mail.app for my primary email account was missing all my emails except for the period from 3/30/05 to 4/15/05 and from 1/07 to 4/07.
I thought I was hosed, but today I found I had another backup on a second disk, and that one has 10,614 emails in the sent mail folder (to be precise Sent Message (account name).mbox/Messages/). After importing, I have all of those sent emails restored in a folder in mail.app.
However, during this process, I went and checked my Sent Messages mailbox in my current Library folder for this user account. In that folder (Library/Mail/Mailboxes/Sent Messages (this account).mbox), all of the files (content_index, Incoming_Mail, IncomingTable_ofContents, mbox, and tableofcontents) show an incorrect(?) created / modified / Last opened date of 5/26/05. The Info.plist file has the correct dates, and the Messages folder does, too. Those same files are in the Sent Messages folder on both of my backups, and have the same date (5/26/05) listed.
I actually pulled all of the files listed above with the weird dates and removed them from the Sent Messages.mbox folder. That doesn't seem to matter to mail -- everything still seems to be working just fine.
So, my question is, are those files crucial, or are they cruft from multiple generations of OS updates and mail.app updates that are no longer needed? It seems like no new versions were automatically generated when I removed the old ones, and mail doesn't seem to be broken.
I've been using mail.app at least since 2004 and the emails in the sent mail folder trace back to a Pbook G4 that started with OS X 10.1 (maybe even 10.0 -- my memory isn't as good as it used to be) and was upgraded with each major release, then I migrated to the current MacBook Pro and upgraded it from Tiger to Leopard. So I've probably used the migration assistant (or archive & install) to help me move files (or did it manually) through one laptop changed and four OS upgrades.
Any ideas about this Sent Messages question or in general about how I might clean up my Mail folder are appreciated.
    Thanks!

I have both POP and IMAP email accounts.
The IMAP is easy. Until you delete it is visible on both phone and computer. Once you delete it is gone from both, although with providers like Google, you can still un-delete it. Google, among others, provides free IMAP email.
For POP, there is a setting in Entourage preferences, (maybe in mail.app, too) that will let you decide to automatically delete the mail from the server, manually delete the mail from the server, or automatically delete after a period of time. I set my pop account to automatically delete from the server after one month. You set up the iPhone the same way - to leave it on the server. This way, a message will download to both your computer and to the iPhone. If you are working at your computer, you can still manually delete the message from the server so that it does not go to your iPhone, since you have already handled it. But even if you never delete from the server, it will automatically delete in a month so that you do not go over your email limit (if any) for your ISP.
Also, with my POP account, I set up the phone to automatically send a copy to me of all outgoing messages. This way my computer has a copy of everything I send from the phone.
