Popping sound from right speaker only of imac

I recently bought a (refurbished) September 2013 model imac 21.5".  Looks great, but only one problem when I play any audio/ video, streamed or local, there come a clicking and popping sound from the right side only. Sounds like fireworks from a distance.  No such noise through headphone.  I tried all solutions suggested on different forums.  No success.  Can someone out there help, before I decide to take it to the apple store or return it?

By starting a new thread instead of re-viving an old one,
suggestions would be addressed to you directly...
However you may choose to discuss the matter with
an Apple Store specialist or Genius, and contact one
nearest your location for an appointment date/time
for someone to perform diagnostic testing. If the unit
is covered under AppleCare or a the complementary
warranty at that time, further suggestions for repair
if needed could be discussed &/or arranged.

  • No sound from right speaker on Pavilion g6-1353ea after installing Windows 8

I've had no sound from right speaker on my HP Pavilion g6-1353ea after installing Windows 8. I've checked all drivers, and have done the sound test in sound properties (left speaker beeps fine, but then nothing from the right). Anyone else having this problem/found a solution?!

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59001-59500/sp59154.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio in both speakers.
    Regards,

  • Crackling sound from right speaker - Envy 14 Beats edition

The right speaker on my Envy 14 Beats edition has a crackling/static sound when playing any sort of sound from it.  I assumed it was a faulty speaker since its just the right speaker..  I've talked to HP support and they had me send it in.
After two weeks I got it back only to find that they simply changed some audio configurations in an attempt to fix it.  Nothing has changed and the problem still exists.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there is some sort of fix for this without me having to send it back to them to replace the speaker.

Hello tedebare73.  I understand your notebook is making a weird sound from the left speaker.
Are there any other electronic devices (guitar amplifiers, cell phones, speakers) around the notebook?  These can all cause very strange noises.
Try hard resetting the notebook as well.  Here are the steps.
    Shut down the notebook.
Remove the battery and AC power.
Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds three times.
Replace the battery and AC power.
    Verify whether the problem persists.
Finally, if neither of the above have an effect try removing and reinstalling the driver.  Here are instructions.
    Go to your Device Manager.
Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.
Right click on your audio device and select "Uninstall."
Reboot the notebook.  Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.
    Verify whether the problem persists.
Let me know the results.  Have a wonderful day!
Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"
Click the "Accept as Solution" button if I resolve your issue.

  • 17 inch late 2011 MBP with no sound from right speaker (Help)

    Hello community,
I purchased a new MBP 17inch model and noticed sound only comes from one speaker.  I've checked the system preferences and moved the balance 100% to the right and no sound at all.  I don't believe this is normal, but before I make a case I wanted to speak with the community first. All responses are appreciated Thank you.

Before you take it in, try resetting Pram.

  • A Single POP Sound from Left speaker, after system heavy load.

Hello From Russia)) I bought Brand New Macbook pro 15" Late 2011 Ci7, this is incredible machine. But a month past and i started to notice a very strange behavior:
When i using mac for resource "Eating" application or processes my computer starts to Heat-this is normal.
When i close all the apps here starts interesting) I have Istat installed, so i can see what temps are in my system. Computer is cooling, and when cpu reaches 50-55 degrees (Celsium, from 80 degrees, because of heavy load) ,my left speaker produces a single loud pop sound. (like something turning of may be)
In other terms of use absolutely is fine! It is very strange and i dont know is normal or not(
Thank you very much, and sorry for my english.

That is not something I would expect.  I would go to a repair facility and have it checked.
    Ciao.

  • Hissing sound from right speaker

I've read through the threads about processor and hard disk hiss. I don't think this is that same issue. When I boot under AC or battery, I get a 5 second hissing from the right speaker. As soon as the desktop comes up, the hissing stops. If I am on AC, that's the last time I hear it, but on battery, I get the hissing noise any time something makes a sound (Adium, iTunes playing an MP3 or a CD, etc.) Is this a driver problem or hardware?
    -Z

I called SmallDog tech support; John had me do a PRAM reset, as well as a power management reset (remove battery and AC, hold down power button for 10 seconds.) Problem remains. Booted to XP, hiss came up during XP logo, but now it won't boot to Windows (might have something to do with the reset.) Told me to remove the additional RAM I had added when I bought it, still hisses on boot. Next step I guess is taking it to SmallDog for repair.

  • Sound on one speaker only

Last night, while using iChat with another Mac user I was only getting sound from one speaker (right). Both speakers work with iTunes so it's not my hardware (I don't think it is anyway). Could this just be poor bandwidth?
    Thanks.
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi MacBoy70,
This is the iChat software preventing you getting feedback as the MacBook Pro internal Mic is in the left hand speaker grill.

  • No Sound From Center Speaker [Win 7]

$No Sound From Center Speaker [Win 7]? Hi,
I downloaded the Darkest of Days demo and noticed that the speech volume was very low if i positioned it center of the camera. But if i positioned it on the left or right of the camera, the speech volume would increase. I found it strange.
I closed the game. And ran my speakers through window's speaker test. Every speaker responded with a sound. Unconvinced, i opened a few songs. That's when i noticed the center speaker wasn't producing a sound. Even on 5. content (movies & music) the center speaker wouldn't work.
**bleep**, no wonder those AC3 movies had low speech and i had to manually boost the speech volume. I noticed the low sound in games before too...but i attributed it to the 5. surround thing. Guess i was wrong!

  • Edit/Delete Popping Sound from Voice File

Hello.  I'm trying to remove a popping sound from a voice file that I extracted from iMovie and imported into Garage Band.  I am struggling to figure out how to do this.  Any help is appreciated.  I feel it should be simple and I'm just overlooking something, but I can't seem to figure it out.  Thanks

You don't specify what the popping sound is. If it's an isolated sound, it's easy just to cut it out. If it's something like a plosive, like the p in the beginning of a word, it's a little harder. Anyway, double-click the audio region that it's in so it opens in the Editor window, set the magnification very high and find the pop. Cut to the left and right of it with cmd-t and delete the annoying bit.

  • Right Speaker Only

I've got a 2G iPod Touch, 8GB. I've only ever played music using the speaker, until very recently when I used it to test an amp (it worked fine, so not the issue), and jsut now, trying with a pair of non-Apple headphones.
I plugged in the phones, and found audio only coming out of the right speaker/channel. Fiddling with the plug a bit, I got the right channel coming out of both headphone speakers if I had the jack about half in. I gave up holding the jack half in and went back to the speaker.
Cue my playlist coming to a song that has piano on left channel only; I can't hear the piano, but the rest of the song is fine. So, now I'm only getting right channel from headphones and internal speaker. I've rebooted it a few times with no luck. What can I do?

I thought that at first, but that wouldn't explain it carrying over to the internal speaker. I tried if with some other jacks and pairs of headphones, and they all go as far in as they can (up to the ring at the base of the jack) and still right speaker only.
With the way the case curves on the back, and shears off some of the headphone input, I'm wondering if it needs a special adapter or something to get all the way in? A bit disappointing if that's the case.

  • Playing sound from my macbook to my imac

I'm using my iMac as an external display for my macbook pro. Since my iMac does not support thurderbolt, I've had to connect it using a Mini displayport. I've bought a 3.5mm Male to Male Stereo Cable so I could play the sound from my macbook through my iMac but both go silent. Anyone have any suggestion on how I could play sound on my macbook through my iMac?  Thanks in advance.

Firstn make sure that the male audio cable is plugged into the "audio out" port on the MacBook and is plugged into the "audio in" port on the iMac. Second make sure you are in the MacBook system preferences (Not the iMac) then click headphones. The thing named "Headphones" is your iMac. I hope that helped

  • TS1630 Hi I have a problem with my iPhone 4S,  I have no sound from my speaker ,keyboard or notifications ,  and my volume control buttons are not working is anyone experiencing this? Any help would be great full, also I have reset the iPhone many times.

Hi I have a problem with my iPhone 4S I have no sound from my speaker , keyboard, notifications.   or volume controls,  I have reset my iphone many times and still the same, any advise will be greatful
    Thanks

I don't think that a software update from Apple will solve the issues that you are having. You have a rogue installation. After you posted I have just done the following:
Disk Utility can verify  my partitioned Volume (including my boot disk) AND REPAIR the non-boot disks on the same Volume without a glitch. It repairs the non-boot disks containing data smoothly.
I have used Mail to send some mails from some Yahoo and Hotmail accounts to my Thunderbird client containing GMail accounts - absolutely normal.
I have iLife '09 but my iMovie '09 and iPhoto '09 open in a jiffy and I see no issues here. I have 6GB RAM (Maximum) on an early 2008 Macbook Pro with a 750GB hard drive partitioned with 120GB reserved for the Boot Drive.
I am sorry that I cannot help further but I am sure there must be a way to reinstall the software without having to revert to restoring your ML backup. I have two clones and if you have such I would attempt to do that through that rather than through Time Machine - that is of course if you have a cloned drive.
    Good luck!
