Populate fields from ODBC

Im trying to populate through odbc certain fields on the form, [ex. patient_id, firstname, last name, address, etc] which must change when primary/unique field [hence patient_id] is updated. Relationship is dictated by default from db and is picked up by msquery as well. However i cannot find a way to create relationship of all fields to each other and aspecially primary key. Please advise me of how such can be assembled. I need for the form only to grab database fields, and based on primary key fill out portion of the form. [no need to overwrite/write to db] Thanks, your help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Lets not talk about database just yet, I just want to know how to take a variable in PHP right to the livecycle designer form.
I have seen many things like submitform(), using http posts, etc but I cant get it to work.

If you want to fill the LiveCycle Designer form, then you need to render it with the datafile.
The datafile can be an XML file or a webservice or Database.
You cannot directly fill the PDF from a PHP script. What you can do is, have a LiveCycle Process created in Workbench and then invoke the Process from PHP application by passing the information. The Livecycle process will merge the data with the template and return the PDF to the client application.
There is an other feature in Acrobat PRO that you can import an XML file directly into a PDF but that is a manual effort. You can not link that to a PHP Script.

I need HELP! I want to populate fields from a data connection...

I am new to livecycle and am having problems making this work...
I have an xml data table that is 5 columns wide and 1000 rows deep. (So too much data for list boxes)
The data connection comes in looking like this:    - DataConnection

When I pull Row into the form it makes a subform with the 5 fields as above.
When I preview this it automatically pulls in the first record from the data source...I want to be able to fill in Job manually and have the other
fields automatically pull in the appropriate information from the correct row in the data source. I have not been able to do this! Can anyone
help me?

How to populate form fields from ODBC Database?

Using LifeCycle ES2, i have created a form, to which through ODBC i have connected a database. Although in MS Query database picks up table relationships, including unique parent records of the table. However when input records from db tables in their respective position on the form, no db relation remains. What im trying to do is to make form populate all fileds based on change of unique parent record. Do i have to use XML schema for that [is there any generating software?] as im not familiar with XML. or are there any settings i have missed in LifeCycle? Because right now, altering any db fields in pdf forms do not affect any other db fields in the form. Please help!

I think I am trying to do the same thing and I hope someone had done this before. I have a form that an employee will fill out for their travel expense reimbursement. On the top of the form, there is a drop-down-list that is alreay populated with a list of employees. The person who fills out the form will pick his/her name from the drop-down-list and the information will be populated for other fields such as employeeID, department and supervisor's name...
The information that is supposed to be populated is in a database. How do I go about achieving this?

I think you need to programatically set the layout and copies options for your XML publisher concurrent program using FND_REQUEST.ADD_LAYOUT before calling FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST.

Acrobat 9 - Populate fields from a XLS

I am using Acrobat 9 and I want to createa fillable PDF that upon the user’s choice for the first field, autofills the 2nd and 3rd field basing on the content of an XLS file.
I have an list.xls file that gets updated regularly, and it looks like as follows:

I would like to create a fillable PDF where the user choose the machine from a drop down menu that shows the machines listed on the first column of list.xls, and upon the user's choice it populate automaticaly the fields "serial no." and "last check" with the data from the other two columns of list.xls.
I have never used JavaScript before,so please keep it simple.

Is there a way to automate an indesign catalogue so that it populates fields from excel?

A client has seen a competitor present a catalogue and shows how from an excel or database file this indesign template can be populated with text and with images from a filename listed in the the excel. Does anyone know how to do this or can you suggest a program that can do it - have a meeting in the morning and supposed to be all over this so any assistance much appreciated.

Populate Field from Concatenated Values Issues

I am trying to set a value on a read only/calculated text field based on the exit event of another field, below is what I'm using,
but nothing happens when I enter data and exit the field.
Year0 is a hidden calculated field set to current year in a 4 digit format.
Using JavaScript - any ideas where I'm going wrong? Thank you!

Before we get to joing the two variables, I think that it is important to declare hte variables first.
The JavaScript Console is very powerful tool for debugging. You can access when previewing your form in LC Designer or when you open your form in Acrobat.
The console is not available in Reader.
It will show up errors as you interact with your form. This will give you some direction to resolving the issue back in LC Designer.
If you can't get Control+J to work, then you could use this line after the variable is declared:
xfa.host.messageBox(myVA);
If you have a look at page 3 of the SOM Expression form, you will see a shortcut to referencing objects (also in video, sorry about the audio).
Using the Control+Click to reference objects will help, as LC Designer will resolve the node of the object if necessary. This would happen if there are unnamed objects/subforms, there are multiple objects with the same name; or if you have named an object using a reserved word.
So, I would be inclined to get this sorted first and then concentrate on merging the two variables. For example, is Row1 set to repeat?

I tried to populate data from dynamic drop down list to city field. I would like to concat data from drop down list.When selecting add button to add the item and select item from drop down list, data should be displayed in the text field. However, Please help. Hi Rosalin,
Loop the hidden table, get the values and populate drop down in each iteration.
DropDownList1.addItem("Text","Value");
You can use one more solution for this scenario. If it is a matter of 2,3 dropdowns, put three dropDowns in the form layout and give seperate static data binding to them. At run time make the dropDowns hide/visible as per the requirement.

How to populate a field from database through personalization

I need to populate value of a field from database on self service transaction web page. This field is not configured as EIT or SIT, nor available in seeded transaction.I need to know abt creating some item through personalization where i can write a query . This item will execute the query and display the returned value on the page or something on the similar line.

This workaround should be used as a one time approach till you move to 11.5.10 CU3.
Here are the details,
You just need to add the following tags inside the site or function level customization document, remember it should be either site or function only no other levels are supported for adding a new item.
before adding the following tags you need to find out the following details,
1. what is the last item in the advancedTable, column or columnGroup in the base metadata. Do not conside the columns inside the columnGroups for this, just the last item which might be a column or a columngroup. Get the if of that item.
2. You should know what is the view instance and viewattribute you will be attaching
3. Remember you can only add columns through personalization and not columnGroups.
4. Replace the appropriate values for the properties amrked with {...} with your own values. You can change the other properties to reflect any specific requirement you want. Make sure you provide correct values.

Replication of custom z fields from CRM to ECC

I have created custom fields in CRM - Order using EEWB. Similarly I have created custom fields in ECC - VBAK. I want to replicate these custom fields from CRM to ECC. Somebody had suggested to use CRM_DATAEXCHG_BADI and method - CRM_DATAEXCHG_AFTER_BAPI_FILL. Can anybody give me a sample code of how to populate table - CT_BAPIPAREX within this method?
Process followed was -
1. ECC - Extend VBAK with zfld1
2. ECC - Extend BAPE_VBAK, BAPE_VBAKX with zfld1
3. CRM - Add zdoc1 using EEWB
4. CRM - Extend BAPE_VBAK, BAPE_VBAKX with zfld1 (same as ECC?)
5. CRM - CRM_DATAEXCHG_BADI and method - CRM_DATAEXCHG_AFTER_BAPI_FILL. - This is where I need to map zdoc1 of CRM to zfld1 of ECC. And then populate CT_BAPIIPAREX. This is where I am stuck.

If you have added field in EEWB chosen R/3 Adapter, then it will also enhance the Exchange structures and thus i guess CRM_DATAXCHange_badi shud contain in one of its changing parameters

Please let me know how to populate field catalogue fields in ALV using dynamic internal table.
I have created <dyn_table> using code below.

In my ALV report I am getting the final layout properly but I am unable to move values to corresponding fields in the final layout shown.Please let me know how to populate these fields from different tables.

Duplicating form fields from one PDF document to another

Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to select and duplicate all acrobat form fields from one PDF document into a new PDF document. I know I can do so one field at a time but would like to know if there is a way to do so in a wholesale fashion.
Our PDF documents are created in-house each year and are nearly the same as the previous year's document containing 99% of the same form fields in the same locations. These forms contain a lot of form fields, anywhere from 50 to 100 fields.
Rather than start from scratch each year defining the same fields that were present in the previous year's document, I am looking for a way to copy the form fields from an existing PDF document (last year's PDF in our case) and copy the form fields into a new PDF document (that does not yet have any form fields defined) and hopefully maintain all the field attributes and positions from the previous years document.

The PDF template we need to copy the form fields "to" doesn't start out having any form fields. It is the fields that we need copied from a previous year's PDF template.
Here's an except from my original post: "I am looking for a way to copy the form fields from an existing PDF document (last year's PDF in our case) and copy the form fields into a new PDF document (that does not yet have any form fields defined)"
The "new" PDF template is a complete "paper" form with updated legal text and calendar year referrences but NO form fields. In our IS group, we then take these forms, add form fields to them and are then able to populate them with database-resident user data. We serve them up to the user in their browser pre-populated with their application data.
So again, our need is to find a way to copy form fields from "last year's" PDF template and copy just the form fields to an fresh "new year's" PDF template that contains no form fields to begin with. What we begin with is just a PDF representation of a paper student loan application.

Populating Multirecord text fields from Tlists value's combinations

I have a UI wherein there are two T lists, one on the Left and other on the Right. The left one contains
From values and the Right one contains To values. There's one Button which when Pressed should populate
a Data Block which has multi record text fields just below the button with all the possible combinations of
the T lists elements. The Text fields have the values From, To, Time, Unit. When populated From and Two will
get the values from the combinations and the user will enter the values in other fields i.e. Time and Unit,
Then the user can save the Records.
e.g. If the Left T list contains Red, Blue and the Right T List contains Green, Black. Then on pressing
the button below the T lists, the text fields From and Two of a data block displayed in the same window
should get populated with all the possible combinations as:
From || To || Unit || Time
Red Green
Red Black
Blue Green
Blue Black
Now the user can enter the values for Unit as well as Time and when he does save the Records should be inserted
for the Data Blocks DML Source that's some table.
What I'm trying is:
On pressing the Button i'm writing code that will have Two PL/SQL Tables(Index by binary_integer). One will have
all the values of the left T List and the other with all the values of right T List.
I do it as in the WHEN BUTTON PRESSED as:

Try and stay civil in your postings. The solotion should be to simply issue a GO_BLOCK, followed by a CREATE_RECORD followed by setting the approriate values :block.value = <value from list>
