Populate the find field in LOV programmatically

Question

I am using Show_lov under a specific condition for the user. The user would have entered a part of text in the text box before itself. So I would want to populate this text in the Find box of LOV so that the LOV navigates to that level.
Any help???

1. It did not work in post_text_item triggerYou can not call LOV any way in this trigger. I usualy create WVI trigger. If validation is not successful, I start the short timer and RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE. Lov are displayed by WTE trigger;
2. I need to make sure that the user selects something from the LOV. Yes, it is serious lack of this procedure.

var := :<block_name.LOV_item_name>;
List_Values(RESTRICT);
if var != :<block_name.LOV_item_name>

--- User don't select from list

But, if the user has entered correct value before a call of LOV, this code will give a mistake. May be, it is necessary simply check up entered by query.
