Popup Backgrounds in Photoshop

What is the workflow or step by step instruction on how to cut a background into segments and place in a button group in order for the background to show in an Encore Pop Up menu? I have 4 button groups or timelines that i want to use in my pop up menu and i would like the background to show as the user selects the pop up function.  I am new to photoshop so any help would be appreciated.
thanks

With the Marquee Tool (m) on Photoshop just select the part you want for the button from your background and then right click & select Layer via Cut and then put the new layer you made into the folder that belongs to that button. You can put a background on any pop-up menu but you have to cut it into pieces and put them in the folders of the buttons, and also make sure that they are not overlapping.

  • Editing Backgrounds in PhotoShop

I've been trying to edit a couple of backgrounds in
PhotoShop. I am able to edit them with no problem, but them I'm
unsure what to do in order to get Captivate to recognize the
revised image. Am I supposed to save the revised image in PhotoShop
first? If so, in what format and in what folder? Maybe I'm not
    using Update properly.
I also tried to save the revised image in PhotoShop and then
import it into Captivate. Still no luck. I get an error message:
"An error was encountered while loading the image."
Does anyone have any experience successfully editing
backgrounds & images? There must be a procedure to follow.
    Thanks.

    Hi Training22
I don't believe you said which version of Captivate you were
using, but my answer will assume it is version 2.
From the Library panel, right-click the desired image or
background. When you do this, you should see a context menu. On
this menu should be an option labeled "Edit with...". After
choosing this option, navigate to your image editor (Photoshop in
your case) and open the editor. Make your changes and close the
editor. Save the changes when prompted. After the image editor
closes, the Captivate image should automatically update to reflect
    the changes.
Note, however, that if you inserted the image from a location
on your hard drive, this image is changed as well. So if you prefer
to keep the image in its pristine format, you will need to rename
it or make a copy before you modify it.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How do i make a transparent background in Photoshop Elements 13

how do i make a transparent background in Photoshop Elements 13

    Open the picture file
Use one of the selection tools to select the foreground
Place the selection on its own layer (Layer>New>Layer via copy or CTRL+J) - this will be Layer 1
    Delete the background layer
If you want to save it, use a file format which supports transparency, e.g.PNG

  • Brush stroke pattern that i want to use as a background in Photoshop CS4.

I've painted a piece of paper with a brush stroke pattern that i want to use as a background in Photoshop CS4. I know how to make a fill layer and apply a colour to a shape, but can you do this for a pattern you've made? I also want to make the pattern a certain pink, and select an elipse in the middle which would just be a different colour section of the same pattern. Is this possible?

so this first is the pattern/image i want to change the colour of:
and below is how i want the colour changes to be specified to the two areas created by this elipse shape: i want to apply that sort of shape and colour differentiation to the texture/pattern/shape of the brush strokes.

  • Cp8 freezes when editing a Library background in Photoshop

    Hi.
My issue is relating to the "round tripping" functionality between Cp8 and Photoshop. I use Cp8 on Windows 7 and Photoshop CS6.
Cp8 freezes up whenever I try to edit a background in Photoshop. It eventually responds but usually takes about a minute.
Then, when I make the edits in Photoshop, merge the layers and Save...it doesn't always "round trip" to Cp8...meaning the orig background is still there on the Cp8 stage.
Very weird since sometimes it works like a charm and others, not so much and also....I never had this issue when I was using Cp6.
Any ideas or advice would be great but I'd also like to know if this is happening to others...
    Thanks!
    K

CS6 is pretty old, compared with CP8. I'm not sure, because I use PS CC(2014) myself that this could be one of the causes of your issues? CP6 was released around the same time as CS6, but meanwhile lot happened in the CC-world. Anyway roundtripping Audition-CP will not be functional with an old version of Audition.
When you finished editing and saving in PS, do you see the red checkmark in Captivate, and did you try to update from there?

  • Adding new backgrounds to Photoshop Elements 11

Hi I have recently purchase Photoshop Elements 11 and i am wanting to transfer all my backgrounds and graphics to the program.  I located the Photo Creations folder and pasted my backgrounds in the "Backgrounds' folder but when going back into the program they are not showing.  Could someone please let me know what i am doing wrong, thankyou

I am wanting to do this as well.  I had more graphics and backgrounds in PSE9 than in this v11 - and I really want to add those back to v11.  I am replying so we can get this back up to the top and maybe get an answer.  How do we get the graphics from previous versions back in PSE11 and add additional graphics as well?
Anyone know how to do this??

  • Is there a way to make Illustrator save in the background, like Photoshop?

Out of Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, Illustrator is definitely the one I have most problems working with, due to small UI differences and ways of handling things
Like the fact that you can't drag next to a number to change it, like in Photoshop. Or the fact that I can't sync my settings (it only says "Signed in as:", and when I press Manage Account, I'm taken to my CC files in Safari).
But most annoying is the fact that whenever I'll save a document in Illustrator, a dialogue box opens letting me know the progress of the saving. Not only does this make me unable to continue working on the document (if the file is large, it takes some time), the app icon starts jumping in the dock if I switch to another program before the box appears.
So, is there any way to make it save in the background, like in Photoshop? I'm running OS X, with Illustrator version 17.1.0.

This really frustrates me, small differences between the apps that shouldn't be there.
I understand you can't change the keyboard shortcuts to be the same/similar, but this is totally different. Let's hope it changes soon.

  • Cp5 edit background in Photoshop not working

I'm trialling Cp5 and one of the key deciders is the Photoshop workflow.
On my usual workstation I have Cp4 and the standalone version of Photoshop CS3 extended and the CTRL-U background edit just works.
The workstation I'm trialling Cp5 on has the CS version of Photoshop CS5 extended but when it tries to open the background image it bombs with an error "Could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found."
I have Fireworks CS5 on the same workstation and that also fails "Could not open the file. Unknown file type."
    Any ideas?
I really need to be sure it works before recommending an upgrade.
    Thank you.

    Panic over!
    You were panicking, right?
    Solution: uninstall Cp5 and reinstall.

  • Image with transparent background in Photoshop and InDesign exports strangely to PDF...

Hey, I really hope you can help!
Ok, I've made a catalogue in InDesign and there is say, an orange border. I've imported an image to layer over the orange border and it has a clear background. In photoshop it has no background and is simply the black outline. However, when i export the Indesign to pdf and print it out, the logo is there with its black part, but it is inside a non-outlined box and the background is sort of transparent, it displays orange, but displays a weird hue of orange, and it stands out... ive got it with a few other pictures, not sure what im doing wrong when i save the image either in photoshop or when exporting or what! I'm self taught, (with the help of this forum and youtube) so ill really appreciate any help. I could post an image but on screen it looks ok, its only seen when i print the catalogue, it's really strange!!! it's not just my printer either - thought of that - ive tried it on three at three different locations and with different pdf files to see if it was just one image. Sadly it's a good 220 on one 108-page document!!
If you wish to chat rather than post, you can skype me as charmywoo
im just grateful of any help!!
    Kind regards,
    Charmaine
Using: Indesign and photoshop 5.5 and operating on pc win 7 - i can also edit on a mac if necessary (if it resolves the issue)

Thanks loads Bob, just as you posted that, i found that link on another thread and came back to post it and you beat me to the punch! So thanks loads!
So if my printer is going to print this catalogue in litho print, rather than digital, do i still have to go back and flatten etc ?? I've separated the catalogue off to 108 individual pages with bleeds etc and it looks like I've got a fun friday night opening each one of them !!! rats!!
    thanks loads, kind regards,
    Charmaine

  • How to remove this background from Photoshop please help?

This is what I have. http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/1681/xdzj.png
    CS6
I used the magnetic and polyganol lasso tool to remove sections, after I drew a section, I pressed enter and then backspace, which made the section turn gray. But now it's just gray, on the same layer, and I can't do anything about it. I wanted an empty background under the image.
I can't use the magic selection tool because it DOES NOT select around the image properly (it selects INSIDE of the image) not where I cropped it out. And the magic selection tool is crappy. It leaves zig zagged white spots so why would I use that. I cropped the entire thing out, and now I can't even see it without the background? What the F**king* F**k?

You are indeed looking at the transparency, there is nothing below that layer.  Your Layer panel only shows your one layer.
The circles you created (with the eraser, I guess?) show the checkered scheme that denotes the transparency.
Without knowing what exact version of Photoshop, of your OS and platform (the screen shot shows Windows) I can't even begin to guess how you got the gray in there: some option in a tool somewhere, the paint bucket even…?
You can embed images in your posts by using the little camera icon in the Reply Editor of the forum's web interface.

  • What's the fastest way to mock up text backgrounds in Photoshop?

Example text with text background layer , often seen on sites.
This is really tricky to mock up in Photoshop. I usually have to create shape layers which is easy enough, but you constantly have to edit them, as you play around with changed in line-height, letter-spacing, font-size, and font-family.

For web sites, I rarely use fixed images for backgrounds.  There's so much you can do with CSS and background-colors, gradients, opacity, borders, shadows, etc... that images are almost un-necessary

  • Change Popup background color?

I have quite a few topics in a RoboHelp HTML project that are
shown in the table of contents but are also used as popups
throughout the help file. The background color of the topics
themselves is white. When one of these topics is viewed via the
TOC, Index, Search in the full frame, I want the background to be
white. If one of these topics is viewed as a Popup, I want the
background to be off-white to provide some contrast to the page in
    the frame.
Is there any way to do this?
    Thanks in advance!

By Popup do you mean a link that when clicked causes a separate topic to be displayed in a seperate window (popup) or Drop Down text?
For Popups that are displayed in a new window then the font and colour is changed in the topic that is displayed. Simply open the topic and change colours / features as required
If you are using drop down text and confusing this with a popup then the font and colour is changed when creating the drop down text. Right click the text and select Font to change colour etc.

  • Non-transparent Background to Photoshop CS6

In CS6 the background of the application is no longer "transparent", instead it has a flat color backdrop to the whole application so that you cannot see what's underneath/behind Photoshop. This is different from CS5. Some people probably like this, but I hate it. Is there a way to turn this off?

Someone else posted this question already, and I recall reading the answer, but I don't have a Mac so I can't check up on the exact fix, but there's an option under the Window drop down menu that changes it back for you.

  • Is it possible to import an image w/ transparent background from photoshop?

    Hello,
I was wondering if it's possible to import an image which contains a transparent part of it into Motion, so I can later add in images and videos underneath that layer.
    Thanks for your time.

    hi again,
there are two ways to do this. In Photoshop you can elect to have a transparent background, if you erase your image to show the chequered background, Motion will do the same.
Or from within Motion you can apply a mask to an image to have it show whats underneath. Apply the mask using the mask tools in the toolbar to the image, then step over to the Inspector, hit the mask tab and select the type as subtract. That will punch a hole in your image revealing whatever is underneath it.
    thanks
