Popup Dialog states AC Adapter is Too Small

Just started getting this popup from the HP Support Assistant: So I ran through the steps from some other posts, including trying to use the HP Support Assistant Battery Check, which said it could not talk to the battery.  Shutdown, unplug the OEM 90W AC Adapter that came with the notebook, pulled the battery; waited a minute or so, put it back together, powered it up, ran the test again - same results. Shutdown, started, went into the UEFI BIOS, ran diagnostics on the battery and it said all cells were AOK, battery was AOK, all tests were just fine. For grins, I went to look on the HP site for the bigger AC Adapter, just to see what it would cost.  According to the HP Accessories site, there are only two adapters for this model notebook - 65W and 90W.  I have the 90W.  There is no 120W AC adapter for this model.  Went to get the latest Battery Check.  Support says latest for this machine is from 9 July 2015, version 7.0.2.5A.  The version on my machine is 7.2.0.4.  Oops?  Sounds like something/someone hiccupped!  Or is the 7.2.0.4 a messed up version and we should uninstall and backup to 7.0.2.5 A?? No apparent notes to that affect, and I don't want to go backlevel without some assurance about that being HP's recommendation. And then there is this:  I have two of these - identical models. Both started popping this dialog on the same afternoon.  Suspicious??  Both BIOS's report perfect batteries. Both have 90W AC adapters. Sounds like HP needs to revisit the Battery Check diagnostic software for HP Support Assistant, and they need to get the story right about what adapters are appropriate for what models.  I really don't want to spend $$ on a 120W AC Adapater if it really isn't impacting machine performance. So: can we get some feedback from HP about correcting whatever is apparently wrong with the HP Support Assistant's Battery Check and its popup recommendations for non-existent AC Adapters, please?

 I really don't have a lot on this other than to verify it is a bogus message. I experienced the same error on an Envy 15T J100 that I was testing last year on loan from HP (part of the HP Expert program).Updating the BIOS solved it for that laptop. Not 100% sure that is what solved it since the HP Support Agent also did some file exploring while remotely connected to the laptop (another test) but from what I saw that was the only substantial thing he did.Do you have the latest BIOS posted on your support page?

  • Thumbnails in "OPEN" dialog box too small to see!

    The thumbnails are  too small in the open dialog box so that I can't see the file I want to open.  Yes, you can make them bigger in finder itself...but I am always opening pictures and I just can't see them!
    Almost as frustrating as the column issue.   The name column is very very wide when I try to open a file.. so I can't sort by the other columns without dragging over the bar at the bottom of the screen.  THis is so so frustrating.  I resize but it doesn't stick to the next session.
    Apple invented the finder.  Why is it so inferior to windows explorer?

    The only solution to enlarging the icons in an application open dialog window is to use the Accessibility panel in System Preferences. Under Zoom, enable Use keyboard shortcuts to zoom.
    The first time you have an application open dialog, you press the keys: option + command + =  as many times as you want to zoom in. This will enlarge the open dialog window and its contents. When done, press option + command + 8 to restore normal window size. Subsequently, you can alternatively press option + command + 8 to zoom to the previous setting, or return to normal zoom.
    This is as good as it is going to get. The applications (not just Apple’s) only use a subset of Finder’s settings in the open dialogs, and these do not include icon enlargement settings, which as you realize, are part of the actual Finder’s settings. The application development frameworks, and not Finder, are remiss in not providing icon size adjustments in open dialog windows.
    You can provide feedback to Apple regarding OS X.

  • Open/save dialog boxes stuck at (too small) default size

    I've been having a relatively small issue with Mountain Lion that has become a big hassle. In past versions of OS X, whenever I'd resize an open/save dialog box in an application, it would be that size the next time I went to open/save. In Mountain Lion, however, those dialog boxes always default to the smallest possible size (which is too small to read a filename longer than a few characters). so I have to resize the dialog box — every time! I open and save a lot of files, so this gets pretty tedious. This doesn't seem to happen in apple programs, but it definitely does in the Office Suite and the Adobe Creative Suite, especially in CS4 Photoshop and Illustrator. Might be I can fix it by myself but I can't imagine where I may dig it.

  • Open file/browse-file dialog window size too small

    It seems like the size of the "Open file" and "Browse file"-dialog windows have become too small to use efficiently.
    I'm not sure if this is related to the latest updates from testing, but it wasn't like this before. I have to resize the dialog window every time in order to be able to select files and folders.
    The changes are not saved across the same session of a program, but it does result in unpredictable behavior in gedit.
    If I resize the open file dialog, then close the dialog, then open it again, the changes are sometimes preserved, but not always. Sometimes it's small and sometimes it's resized, and there's no way of telling.
    I'm running compiz-fusion and emerald, but the bug is not related to window manager, as it's the same with metacity and openbox. So it's for all GTK programs.
    When I try to run gnome-appearance-properties, I get:
    "Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'.
    Without the GNOME settings manager running, some preferences may not take effect. This could indicate a problem with Bonobo, or a non-GNOME (e.g. KDE) settings manager may already be active and conflicting with the GNOME settings manager."
    and the problem remains no mather what GTK theme I choose.
    Is gnome-settings-daemon responsible for this kind of behavior?

    The issue was resolved by updating all to gnome-desktop 2.24 from testing..
    Seems like the swedish repository mirrors are a bit left behind..

  • Print dialog font is too small: Acrobat Reader on Linux

    I'm running Acrobat Reader version 7.0.5 on CentOS 4.5 (RedHat Enterprise
    4.5) and find that the fonts used on the Print dialog are too small.
    They are much smaller than the fonts used on labels and other controls
    in the rest of the application, and are very difficult to read. By
    comparison, they seem to be about 1/2 the size of the font used by the
    Reader menu bar (File, Edit, View, ...).
    I've gone through the Edit -> Preferences, but don't see anything which
    will change the size of the fonts used on this dialog.
    Is there a configuration file or some other way that I can increase the
    size of these fonts?
    Thanks,

    the issue occurs on systems running debian-etch, debian-etch'n-half,
    debian-lenny, and gentoo with xdm as display manager and fvwm as
    window manager. the x-server runs with the '-dpi 75' option regardless of
    the screen's physical dimensions. the screen's resolution is 1600x1200.
    for me it looks like acroread is creating it's dialog boxes independently
    from gtk-settings in $HOME/.gtkrc-2.0 (apart from the OK/Cancel buttons of
    the printing dialog) and while doing so, it makes wrong assumptions about
    the font-size by using the dpi setting of the screen to calulate the physical
    dimention of the screen. if the x-server is running with '-dpi 100' the
    dialog fonts are considerably bigger, but still differs from the settings
    in $HOME/.gtkrc-2.0. for example when you make setting of
            style "default"
                    font_name = "Verdana 24"
            class "*" style "default"
    then you don't get neither Verdana nor 24pt fonts in the whole acroread
    gui except for  the menubar and the OK/Cancel buttons of the printing
    dialog, while any other gtk-program like firefox, thunderbird, and others
    apprear completely in Verdana 24pt -- which is of course far too big, but
    illustrated the issue very clearly.
    screenshots (with gtk-fonts set to Verdana 24pt and Tahoma 11pt) are
    inserted below. (as you can see, the printing dialog and advanced printing
    dialog even use different fonts.)
    thank you very much for the very quick reply.

  • U/I is a small window + preference can't be seen on imac the popup too small

    When the T-Bird opens within the 21" iMAC is the Yellowstone OS, it is a small window and I have to manually enlarge.....and when I go to the preferences the popup is too small plus can't move the window information to read, in spite of the font being large enough. The popup is static in size so I can't enlarge it. Since the version installed, in the past three weeks, can't be found due to this problem. Sorry, can make it take a screen shot for you.
    My question then is: will there an update soon or will I need to switch to another?

    lets have that screen shot. Please

  • LoV - popup window too small

    Hi all,
    I'm using Oracle Forms Builder 10gR2. I have a LoV attached to a button but when the user open it - the popup window which appears is too small and customer has to enlarge it.
    Any ideas how to set it larger? Maybe in property palette or other option i have to define?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bahchevanov.

    You can set the width and the height of the LOV plus their x and y position in the property pallette at design time.
    cheers

  • Storage Area for GUI status is too small

    Hi Experts,
    I have developed a custom program in which i ahev my own GUI status for the modal dialog box.
    At certain point I am getting error "Storage Area for GUI status is too small"
    What is the solution for this?
    Thanks.

    Hi Klas,
    I am getting the error as Storage Area of GUI Stattus "PROGRAM MAME" "GUI STATUS NAME" too small.
    I did not mention the program name and gui status name .
    Mean;
    I do not have any push buttons. While I am creating teh order for each item it will popup teh custom screen to select something.
    When the number of items becomes more I am getting that issue.
    As it calls the BUI status each time, the memory gets full and hence gives that message.
    If you know the exact solution plz reply back.
    Thanks
    Kumar

    I posted this before and got some feedback and tried everything but it is not fixing the problem! I rewarded points to all the answers. I had basis increase roll area size, optimized code and did everything I can but I am still getting the same error "roll area too small". Same program works in 4.6C but in ECC6.0 I get this error! I have other programs that generates more than 10,000 pages in the spool but the program I am working on creates only 7700 pages! I  am not sure what else is changed in ECC6.0! Could someone please give me any ideas? rewards assured.
    thanks.

    Hello Mithun,
    Even i think increasing the roll area should have helped
    Are both the systems WIndows based  or is one unix based ?
    see this
    http://listserv.sap.com/pipermail/linux.general/2001-July/thread.html#670
    and search for "roll area too small" in the list of links
    it may help
    Also,
    in this solution, it says to use 'field groups'

    You may want to zero in on the part of the code that throws this error.
    (i)
    Try executing a small part of your code, while commenting out the rest. If that is successful, execute a slightly bigger part of the code, and so on successively. Once you know, where exactly the code is failing, it should be easier to create a small testcase against your data and investigate the problem.
    (ii)
    Check those local variables and the values that get assigned to them. It is a good practice to anchor local variables to database columns. That way, there will be less surprises when the table structures are altered.
    (iii)
    The script as such does not show any glaring error, but you may want to check those procedure calls e.g. -
          hz_Location_v2Pub.Update_Location(fnd_aPi.g_True,l_Location_rec,l_Object_Version_Number,
                                            l_aPi_Status,l_msg_Count,l_msg_Data);It's quite possible that the procedure is assigning a value to an output parameter that is too small to store that.
    Note that, given such a huge script and not knowing your database, we are not particularly inclined to debug it. The only person who can make things easier for himself/herself is you.

  • How to display a screen as Popup Dialog box in Module Pool

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement to display a popup dialoge box into module pool.

    Narendra

    Hi Narendra,
    Try to trigger the popup once it is done with the previous action might be anything.
    i have shown one sample code where after i click on save button when the data is saved successfully
    after that it has to trigger me a popup asking for conformation for the next action.
    A small piece of code
    INSERT INTO ZORMD1 VALUES WA_ZORMD1.
        IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
          G_LOCAL1 = 0.
          MESSAGE S000.  " Data saved successfully and immediately call the popup
    CALL FUNCTION 'POPUP_TO_CONFIRM_STEP'
            EXPORTING
      DEFAULTOPTION  = 'Y'
    TEXTLINE1 = 'SUCCESSFULLY SAVED'
              TITEL = 'POPUP FOR conformation'
             START_COLUMN         = 25
             START_ROW            = 10
            CANCEL_DISPLAY       = 'X'
           IMPORTING
    ANSWER  = G_PRINT
    IF G_PRINT = 'J'.
    PERFORM PRINT_OUT.
    ENDIF.
    Do the modification according to your requirement.

  • BI Publisher Report Query Error: "character string buffer too small"

    Using apex.oracle.com, I am trying to make a Report Query (Shared Components > Report Queries) based on many columns (around 60).
    When I enter my SQL in the "Source Query" Text Area and then click Test Report I get the following error:
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small In order to try to make the simplest test case possible for this, I then tried entering SQL selecting just from DUAL.
    The following SQL fails with the error mentioned above.

    (For information in the above example I have "Use Generic Report Layout" selected and the output format set to "PDF")
    Thanks very much in advance for any comments or suggestions,
    Andy

    Thanks for the suggestion Simon.
    I just created a view based on the 46-column SELECT statement from dual above and then set "SELECT * FROM myview" as the Source Query.
    Unfortunately I get exactly the same error.
    Thanks,

  • Screen size in windows 8.1 - all icons too small! How do I enlarge the entire captivate 8 screen?

    The entire Captivate 8 screen to too small. How do I enlarge the entire window? All icons and thumbnails are 1/4 the size they should be. Using Windows 8.1.

    It looks like it is an issue between Adobe and Microsoft. (Many Adobe programs are responding this way to Windows 8 and 8.1)
    I am posting this to try and get some (ANY) ideas/feedback...but to also bring it to the Captivate Community attention. I hope the Captivate Staff is aware of this issue.
    Same issue -great PhotoShop screenshot Photoshop too small on windows 8.1
    Photoshop CC / Windows 8.1 HiDPI / Retina scaling support

    Right side menu too small font size of letters in Windows 8.1 High DPI screen
    Re: Photoshop CC / Windows 8.1 HiDPI / Retina scaling support
    there are many many more out there......
    I tried this first, it comes with Windows and changes your display properties by application: (but it didn't work)
    The program above basicly edits these settings (you can get to these by right clicking on the exe application) I tried many combos, an even tried them under the "change for all users" setting.....NADA!
    I have tried editing the Windows display settings: (all screen shots below are with this setting size)
    The screenshot below is at 250%. It does not make any difference in the application (check out the menu bar, properties, icons....) If I go over 150% I lose dialog box space...the buttons disappear! If I keep it at 150% the words "Advanced Actions" at the top of the dialog box shrinks slightly, enough to fit the buttons in...) I showed the difference using snag it (12 pt arial compared to the appearance of the UI ~ 4 pt.) This is so hard to see! Same issue in some of the other adobe applications. (fyi...they are all up to date)
    Photoshop = same problem
    Dreamweaver = working fine
    Flash = working fine
    Premier Pro = half working....(menubar is ok but everything else is real small)
    Muse = not working
    Adobe Edge Code = Working fine
    OOF! Well, any thoughts anyone? I appreciate any and al feedback and ideas!!!
