Popup Menus from Fireworks to Dreamweaver

I have created popup menus in fireworks and imported the html
into Dreamweaver. But when I do the table cell resizes to the
menu's expanded size. How can I get it to only take space of the
unexpanded button. Where when expanded the dropdown flows OVER the
underlying page.

  • Centering Web template from Fireworks in Dreamweaver

So, I created a web template in Fireworks and I imported the template into Dreamweaver.  I have been trying to center my webpage for quite some time now and every time I add a wrapper, it doesn't do anything.  It remains aligned to the left.  I deleted the wrapper and everything in my code.  Please help me. Unfortunately, this is not a web page.  It is a design comp exported from Fireworks.  This code is not good enough for use on real web sites.
You need to de-construct your design comp images in Fireworks.  Optimize and save images only to your DW Local Site Folder.  Then re-assemble everything inside a pre-built CSS Layout in DW.

  • Exporting from Fireworks to Dreamweaver

Hey guys/gals I have a problem. I have posted two previous posts, and got some really helpful answers. I am basically done with my website (I just need to make text boxes editable, put some more links) and that is it. By the looks of it, all of this can be done in dreamweaver.
I have exported all of my work from FW to DW using html and images and exported all of my slices. However, I am unable to edit anything in DW.
Is there a better and easier way of exporting from FW to DW? Can anyone give me any tips as how to do this and get my website up and running live on the internet? (I have a hosting company already with a temporary design which I don't like, which is why I am creating my own website)
Thanks in advance to those that help.

Hate to say it Linda, but I didn't.  The first section was helpful, but going to find the second section where the real information seemed to be - I could not find.  It's probably in plain sight, but...  I find web pages hard to read - what is logical to everyone else makes no sense to me.
Imagine what kind of website I'm going to make some day.

  • Going from Fireworks to Dreamweaver.....

I have taken a couple of courses on Lynda.com (Fireworks Essential Training and Fireworks Rapid Prototyping).  I am confused when I export a website, and open it in Dreamweaver.  I have a fairly good grasp of Dreamweaver, yet I am perplexed when I see what Fireworks creates after an export.  The entire site is made up of numerous images that line up in a table.  All the text is flattened into these images.  Since there is no text, I imagine the website is basically unsearchable AND you cannot make a simple change to the text without exporting every graphic and .html page again.  It seems that Fireworks wants you to abandon the whole concept of CSS altogether.  I have designed many sites using table layouts (Dreamweaver) and graphics(Photoshop).  I was hoping that Fireworks would make it a whole lot easier.  I get the impression that Fireworks is ONLY for a rough layout, but shouldn't be used for creating a web site.  If this is so, why bother?  Am I missing something?
Any suggestions would be grately appreciated.
    Thank you.

HTML and Images export should only be used for creating an interactive, high fidelity prototype, NOT a final web site. Your options in CS4 and CS5 are to export as CSS and Images. It's by no means a perfect solution, but it will get you closer to a true, html and css-based page design.
Fireworks is NOT for creating a web site. It was never designed to do that. That's Dreamweaver's job. FW was created to prototype, visualize and design that site quickly and optimize the image objects appropriately for use in the final web or mobile project.
Recent additions to Fireworks CS5 such as the CSS3 Mobile Pack (available on Adobe Labs for free) help the designer to generate CSS based mark up of common CSS3 effects such as rounded rectangles, gradient fills, drop shadows, glows, text styles as well as giving you the ability to reskin jQuery mobile templates.

  • Best Strategy for Exporting Fireworks into Dreamweaver

I created a navigation bar in Fireworks and now I want to export it into Dreamweaver.
So I Went to Edit->Copy HTML Code (hotkey for this is Ctrl+Alt+C)
Now, what's the "best choice" from the dialog choices: AIR HTML, Dreamweaver HTML, Generic HTML, GoLive HTML, AIR XHTML, Dreamweaver XHTML, Generic XHTML or GoLive XHTML for a cross browser "professional" website?
I only tried the "Dreamweaver HTML Option" and itseemed to work nicely in my rookie opinion.
I think this technique might be at a performance cost to my graphic design or the website speed. So should I use a different strategy for exporting Fireworks to Dreamweaver?  I have the CS5 package so can use any of those programs for support.
    Thanks,

INHO, the best way to export from Fireworks to Dreamweaver is to first define your site in Dreamweaver, and then export the Fireworks document to the assets folder. Place your cursor when you want the navbar to be on your HTML page and choose Insert > Image Objects > Fireworks HTML.

  • Fireworks 8 CSS Popup Menus

    Hi,
in previous versions of Fireworks I was able to create
multiple popup menus and insert the menus into various table
    positions across a web page.
In the latest version of Fireworks (8) I have tried to do the
same using the CSS popup up menus but when previewing the page one
or both of the menus fail to work properly. In some cases the popup
menus appear onmouseover in the wrong place or other times the
menus simply don't function at all.
If I create a single CSS popup menu and insert into a page
there is not a conflict and it is viewable in various browsers.
Is there an adjustment that I can make to the code or the way
that I export to Dreamweaver 8 so that multiple popup menus (in
different tables) can function on the same page?
    Thanks,
    Boris

  • Can you access popup menus in behaviours window in Dreamweaver CS5?

I was wondering if you can still edit popup menus in dreamweaver CS5?
If not what is a good addon to create dropdown menus for an image.
    Thanks.

If you were previously using those pathetic MM-Rollover menus from a previous version of DW, you need to replace them ASAP.   They don't work.
Here's why MM Rollover Menus Suck

Best advice, buy a good menu from Project Seven
    http://projectseven.com/products/menusystems/pmm3/index.htm
    Or use a jQuery Menu

  • Dreamweaver encountered problems while constructing the menus from the current menus.xml file

So, after having trouble with my Photoshop scratch disk, I had to do an archive and install of my Mac OS 10.6.1 then reinstall the Adobe suite. I then had to run the Licensing Repair Tool (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/licensing.html).
Now everything works but Dreamweaver, which is throwing the following error:
"Dreamweaver encountered problems while constructing the menus from the current menus.xml file.
Please delete the current menus.xml file and rename menus.bak to menus.xml"
I tried that. menus.bak is a directory, not a file. Even renaming the directory didn't work.
    I saw this http://forums.adobe.com/message/2188511#2188511
but I don't have a /FlashPlayerTrust/ directory, nor do I see what that has to do with Dreamweaver.
I couldn't find a corresponding solution for this http://forums.adobe.com/message/862339#862339 for the Mac OS.
    This http://forums.adobe.com/message/3396334#3396334 didn't help, either.
    Anybody have any ideas?
    Thanks!

This is the error I got after deleting (moving) the configuration directory.
"No document types have been found in the Configuration/DocumentTypes/ folder. The MMDocumentTypes.xml file may be missing or corrupted. The application will exit now."
I've reinstalled the entire Adobe CS4 (which fixed my Photoshop problem but created this Dreamweaver problem) and then reinstalled Dreamweaver alone.
I've also attached a screenshot of the Dreamweaver directory tree with the menus.xml files.

  • Fireworks 8 PopUp menus-

I create a page with single level popup menus in FW8. Export
    html/slices to DW8
The menus only show up when I do a mouse over. I can modify
the code in DW8 to remove the javascript onmouseover= ( ... ), and
add a onload=(..). All then works as I want it to work. Top menu
displayed on page load, mouse over/out behavior works as expected.
The top level menus are acting like I would expect the lower
level popups to work. Mouse over to display. Mouse out, timer
    delay, they go away.
I assumed/want the first level menus should display on page
load. Just the popups (lower menu levels) should popup with
mouseover. Wrong assumption or something wrong?? I guess I could
    use Buttons instead.

  • I need help importing navigation bars and rollover buttons from fireworks?

I need help importing navigation bars and rollover buttons from fireworks, drop down menus and rollover states won't work!
    Thanks

In my experience, the code created by graphics apps is less than satisfactory. And image based menus are very awkward for several reasons.
#1 If you decide to change your menu later, you must go back to your graphics app and re-craft the whole thing.  After 2-3 times of this, it gets old in a hurry.
#2 Image based menus cannot be "seen" by search engines, screen readers and language translators.
#3 CSS styled text menus are better for your site's visibility, accessibility and they are a snap to edit in Dreamweaver.
That said, if you're still married to image based menus, use Fireworks to create images only. Use Dreamweaver's Image Rollover Behaviors to create your rollover scripts.

  • Keep text as text from Fireworks, and not as an image

Hey all first time posting. Anyway I must say I'm simply love discovering roundtrip editing between Dreamweaver and Fireworks, but I've run into a minor problem.
So I create my entire site in Fireworks, import it to Dreamweaver and use roundtrip editing to fix anything up. The problem is that when I create a text field in Fireworks and import it to Dreamweaver, the text becomes an image. This wouldn't make my site very search engine friendly.
p.s. I wasn't sure if I should have posted this in Fireworks or Dreamweaver forum, sorry.

CS5 or CS3... it makes little difference.  The procedure itself hasn't changed much in 8 years. Don't expect to learn everything from a single tutorial either.  You will need to learn HTML & CSS.  After you understand code basics, positioning with CSS will become clearer and DW will be much easier to learn.

Well, I made it to the Apple store and they, contrary to the guys at B&H, confirmed my original suspicion and yours: that the drive was failing.  I bought a replacement drive and am restoring my time machine back up now.
I am a bit annoyed that the B&H guys got this one wrong but I have to give them credit for underselling me rather than overselling me; I do appreciate that.
Also worth mentioning is that the 3TB Seagate drive was less than 2 years old and is supposedly still under warrantee.  I am looking forward to seeing what kind of support I get from them.
So big thanks to you, Bob, for your very good suggestions.   The Apple community has come through strong for me and I appreciate it.

  • I know this sounds ridiculous, but do you have to have Fireworks and Dreamweaver to create a website?

Many years ago, I had a copy of fireworks and dreamweaver.  It seemed like I only worked with fireworks and created websites, links etc.  Do you have to have both and somehow they work in tandem?

My suggestion would be to forget about Fireworks, because the application's development was stopped in May 2013, and no updates are coming its way either. It is dead software, unfortunately. It is already experiencing compatibility problems on the latest Mac OS, for example, and it is only going to get worse.
To create a simple website, you have two choices: you either learn basic html and css code (as Mylenium suggested), or you use a visual editor.
I have a feeling you veer towards the visual editor solution, so here are some options:
    - http://www.kompozer.net/
    - Web Design Software by Xara: Xara Web Designer
    - Adobe Muse
... or install WordPress through your host (most web hosts offer a one-click install option), choose a nice template from the tens of thousands available online, and start adding content.

  • Popup Menu in Fireworks 8

    Hi All,
I want to create popup menu using fireworks 8. I was able to
    create basic simple popup menu.
I want to make popup menu in which when mouse is moved over
root button it changes its image, pops out the menu and root image
stays into changed image till pop up menu is poped out. when popup
menu is close root image changes to original image.(same as
www.bestbuy.com is having - when mosue is moved over root image
change to image with yellow font, pops out the menu and stays yello
font imiage till pop up menu is open. when pop up menu is closed
root image changes to original image/state.)
Does anybody have idea, how to do this?
    Pls Help!
    Thank you.

I don't believe Alan suggested you buy anything, but if he
    did, then
consider these free alternatives. The FW menus simple suck
    large rocks....
