Popups in apple mail for login

I keep getting a pop up in apple mail asking for my yahoo passwork

I am in OS 10.9.1, using Mail 7.1. Even with Notifications set to Alerts, I do not have to confirm. The Notification is displayed on the top right of the screen, the mail is in the Inbox and the Notification disappears when I read the Mail. Is that not the way it works for you?
But perhaps this is not what you mean.
If the issue has to do with Notifications, you can turn it off.
Go to: Apple menu / System Preferences / Notifications.
Select Mail on the left, and click None for Mail alert style:

If you mean that you wish to highlight messages from certain people or domain names, then if you select Preferences under 'Mail' (top left hand corner next to the Apple logo when you're in the mail application) and then select the right hand icon marked 'rules', then click on Add Rule and hopefully the rest is fairly self explanatory.

About Ready to Ditch Apple Mail for Outlook

I've been using Apple Mail for several years with no issues. Suddenly that has changed. A few weeks ago I noticed I am unable to rename Mailboxes that I've created in the past (i.e., I rename them and get an error message). I posted a separate question about that on February 23, 2012 and have had no comments or responses to that post.
Yesterday I did two things in Mail:
Created a new mailbox named 2012 HOUSTON, and
Dragged about 3 mailboxes to put them in a different order than they appeared
This morning I received an email I wanted to put into the 2012 HOUSTON folder.......and it was GONE. Completely gone. I did a search for the email I placed in that folder yesterday and it also was gone. Also, one of the other folders I had reordered had returned to its previous position near the bottom of the mailboxes.
This is unacceptable behavior for Mail and I can't find any solution. I am a hair's breadth away from moving to Outlook, something I've resisted for a long time because Entourage (Microstop's old email program) was so buggy, and having been a Mac user since 1988 I do my utmost to use Apple products.

Okay, now you're confusing me. Me.com is IMAP mail and there is no setting as you described unless you set it up for POP3.

Apple Mail pop3 login whoes

Has anyone had luck authenticating with pop.netvigator.com?
I can login via webmail but never with Apple Mail. I have tried a few of the suggestions on this discussion board but still cant login via pop3. Outgoing mail appears to be fine.

Selected messages can be exported in standard mbox format doing File > Save As in Mail and choosing Raw Message Source from the Format popup menu. Standard mbox files can be imported into most mail clients. In particular, they can be imported back into Mail doing File > Import Mailboxes and choosing Other as the data format.
Andreas Amann’s Mail Scripts has an Archive Messages script that you may also find useful.

I seem to have multiple problems related or unrelated. I cannot use Apple Mail for blueyonder and mostly for gmail as both show that the server is off line. My pop up blocker doesn't work and I am blitzed with pop up windows on nearly every command

Firstly I am unable to use Apple mail except for hotmail, for blueyonder, gmail or Sky as the server shows as (off line) and I have no idea how to get them on line even though I tell them to go there.
My pop up blocker doesn't work and I am blitzed with advertising windows virtually on ever command I make, one seems to be impossible to unsubscribe from.
When I am in an email with a web link the web link doesn't work and I get a window saying that I must have a pop up blocker, but if I switch it off it is no different, what does work is switching the "enable Java script off", then when I get to the web site I can't use it until I switch the java script back on.
I can't do a screen shot either full or partial, when I try it changes the web site that is on screen to another.
So what have I done that might have caused problems, downloading Yosemite seemed to be the start of the problems. Since then I have started to install Mackeeper, after checking with a family members who should know, that MacPaw is safe. I decided that I didn't want to pay the subscription, so went through the uninstall instructions but it comes up as a pop up with considerable regularity.
My stress levels have gone through the roof with pop ups happening so regularly and not being able to use Apple mail.o can anyone help please?

GMail is not working with Apple Mail App: Login correct, says "no e-mails"?

HI everyone,
I just switched from my iPhone 5 to a new iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.1.2. After I put the latest backup to the new device everything was set up fine. Unfortunately Google Mail doesn't work with the Apple Mail App any more.
I have two factor identification switched on and use the 16 digit long password which I set up with my Google account. The configuration details work (login, password, server details), the account is accepted, no notifications tell me that anything is wrong. The thing is, that the Apple Mail App doesn't show any mails. Also it's impossible to send any emails. The strange thing is, that the GMail App works fine.
I really tried everything: deleted the account setup, changed mail server from m.google.com to smtp.google.com, set up a new app specific password through two factor identification... no emails appear!
With my iPhone 5 I was a lucky user of push email, thanks to Microsoft ActiveSync. So I keep trying to configure the GMail account as an Exchange account (I know that Google switched off ActiveSync some time ago, until now everything worked fine with my iPhone 5, even push mail worked!).
Does anyone of you know how to solve the problem? I don't like the GMail App and really prefer using the iOS Mail App..

Disappearing GMail messages with Apple Mail for iPad

I'm using Mail for iPad to access my GMail account. When I organize messages into different folders using Mail, I often find that some of those messages simply disappear, unless I search for them. This happens regardless of when they were sent (they're not older messages cached on the server).
As an example, a message I received Sunday was placed in a folder. When scrolling back through that folder, the message does *not* appear anywhere, not between the Monday and Saturday messages. However, if I search for that sender, the message *does* appear and says it was received on Sunday, as it was.
I wish I understood why this is happening, as it doesn't seem to make much sense. Thanks for any help!

I have each device to leave message on the server. We have it set up this way so that my wife and I can see all the mail that comes into our own devices. Then we can delete off each device as desired. I go in to the server once a month and delete old mail.
So to recap: My wife's macpro uses apple mail. it retrieves the mail from the server; but leaves it on the server. However, though the email is still on the server, the other devices cannot retrieve the email. it is like the email is old email that your device has already uploaded; but it hasn't uploaded to the other devices because my wife's mac opens the inbox on server first.
I know that this sounds confusing. it did not always work this way. for a long time any of our devices could open the inbox on the server, retrieve the messages and leave the email on the server inbox for the other devices. this issue is new.

To sync your contacts, you will need to have Outlook 2007 or newer installed. If you do, you can sync your iCloud mail, contacts, calendars and tasks with Outlook as outlined here: https://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html.
If you don't have Outlook, you can add your iCloud email account to your Windows mail client using these settings: iCloud: Mail server settings for email clients and access your other iCloud data from iCloud.com.

How to set default email account in Apple Mail for Yosemite?

For some reason, after my upgrade to Yosemite my default accounts are no longer selected as default. I am now sending from an account I only receive email to, and have to change it with every single email I compose. Mavericks didn't do this.
Has anyone had a similar situation with multiple email accounts in Apple Mail? Any idea on how to force a default?

IOS 8.12 Apple Mail for Exchange Account Deletes Message from Server

Both my computers are set to leave Exchange emails on the server, but I can't find how to set this on my iPhone. So, if I happen to first open a message on my phone, it's no longer available when I open Apple Mail on either of my computers. I need the messages on my iMac and MacBook Pro--not just on my iPhone. How can I change the settings on my iPhone so that Exchange doesn’t delete messages once they're downloaded to the phone? Thanks in advance for any guidance you can offer. --Bill

Thanks, Glenn. I get as far as the Advanced Settings screen, and there are 3 items for choices:
• Use SLL - on
• Move Discarded Messages into:
Deleted Mailbox - check
Archive Mailbox - not checked
• S/MIME
S/MIME - off
I don't see how I can choose to NOT delete messages. (I'm assuming that the Move Discarded Messages into: Deleted Mailbox is a setting to tell iOS 8 what to do with a message that I choose to delete from my iPhone.)
Any further guidance?

Entourage to Apple mail for email

I've been putting off making the move from Entourage to Apple Mail. Now is the time....but ---- in several online instructions I found this direction: To move your email, open Mail and click File > Import Mailboxes. From the pop-up window, select Microsoft Entourage as the email client. When I do that Entourage is not on the list...it's Apple Mail, Netscape, Thunderbird, Eudora and files in mbox format. So what do I need to do move my email to Apple Mail.

Hi All, I had duplicated mail boxes set up. Apple Support called me (I had scheduled the time) and they took a look at it and said to delete one of them.

Strange request from an e-mail for login details?!

I received an e-mail today from [email protected] and when I click on the message a dialogue box pops-up asking for a user login and passsword...
"To view this page, you need to log in to area “mail.avensc.com” on mail.avensc.com:80."
It is then stuck in a loop when cancel is selected. Anyone come across this kind of thing before? What is it? The sender says she has no idea???

Clicking on cancel 22 times clears the dialogue box requesting the log-in.
I have just noticed that there are 22 photos attached to the e-mail we sent to her. The picture attachments are attached again to her reply (why does this happen when some people reply to messages with attachments, I thought although the text is usually attached to replies, the pictures shouldn't come back, waste of time and bandwidth?).
So could it be that something malicious has attached itself to the pictures that came back with her e-mail?
The e-mail we originally received with the attachments doesn't seem to have a problem.

How do I move from Mozilla Thunderbird to Apple Mail for email??

I am currently using Thunderbird from Mozilla & I would like to use Apple's Mail application for sending and receiving my email.
I tried to import Thunderbird but it did not work. I would also like to import the subfolders where I saved email messages in Thunderbird but I can not seem to figure out how to do that either. I would also like to import my Thuderbird addresses.
If anyone is familiar with how to set up Mail from Thunderbird, please advise. Also, could you please be specific because I am new to MacIntosh. I used PC's for years until I got tired of Microsoft.

Navigate to ~/Library: Thunderbird: Profiles: your_profile: Mail: Local Folders. Identify the mailboxes you seek to use in Mail.app.
Each mailbox has three pieces to it - i.e. inbox.sbd, inbox.msf and inbox with no extension.
Take the file with no extension, hold down the Option key (so it also stays in the folder) and drag it to the desktop.
Rename this copy with .mbox as the file extension. For example, inbox becomes inbox.mbox.
Open Mail.app and select File: Import, choose Other, and navigate to the desktop and click Choose. Choose the file you just renamed. Your mailbox(es) should appear in the import window and will import into Mail.app.

I have OSX 7.2 Lion but cannot figure out how to setup a signature on apple mail for my emails.

I just converted to OSx 7.2 Lion and starting using the applle mail instead of Entourage because I got a I phone 4S so I wanted to use the cloud. But I can not figure out how or if you can setup a signature to use when emailing. I had it with Entourage and its kinda nice for business so you can put your company name or title after you name without having to type it everytime. Anyone know if you can do it in Lion?

It's possible that the W2 you used was set up with the EchoSign service. It allows you to draw a signature with a mouse. This is available as well with more recent versions of Reader (10.1+) if the form isn't Reader-enabled or secured. You will see this in the Sign panel when the document is opened in Reader.
You can otherwise get an EchoSign account and upload your document and send it to your customers through the EchoSign service. You can establish a free account to see how it works.

Exact search for phrase in Apple Mail

I want to search in all my mail in Apple Mail for: Some phrase exactly this way
For example, I ONLY want to see emails which contain: working with Andy
I do NOT want to see any emails which contain less than ALL those words in that EXACT order.
In other words, I want to search for an exact phrase.
How do I do this?

If it's a short phrase you might be able to get close by;
Use Boolean searches:
You can use Boolean operators such as AND, OR, and NOT. For example, to search for messages that contain “yosemite” and “yellowstone” but not “teton,” type “yosemite AND yellowstone NOT teton” or “yosemite AND yellowstone -teton.” You must type Boolean operators in uppercase.
