Port 1900 issue

Hi there,
I didn't find a satisfying answer to my problem, so I opened a new topic on this issue.
Yesterday I got an error message with Medialink (Nullriver) saying port 1900 might be used by another app. So I checked with the shell (sudo lsof -i -P |grep 1900).
I found out that the recently installed LogMeIn Hamachi2 was keeping the port busy. 'Hamachi Logout' in the terminal didn't do the trick, so I force quit the 'hamachid' process in the Activity Monitor, and, hurray, it worked.
However, I don't want to deal with this issue that way every time I watch a movie via PS3 - big hassle!
For the record, I only need Hamachi when not at home (sharing my iTunes library and other data to my remote computer). Therefore, it is turned and logged off.
I don't quite understand, why it needs port 1900, when it's inactive.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I know NOTHING about the product you reference but my guess is that the ports and communications protocols, etc are all setup when the program loads, regardless of it's "activity", etc. Therefore you have to completely kill the 'hamachid' process to release the port.
Just a guess.
You could write some automation code (scripts, automator, etc) to auto-start and shut-down your app when you are present at the box (home) as a work-around.

  • How can I use Back to my Mac when my ISP blocks port 1900?

I was just forced to switch ISPs (don't ask...) and it turns out that my new ISP (Astound) lied to me and actually does block port 1900, which means that Back to my Mac (on which I rely) does not work.
Has anyone seen this and found a viable workaround? Preferably one that is easy for my non-technical family to use also, but all suggestions are welcome.
    Thank you!

So, I convinced my ISP to open port 1900 and they did, but it's still not working.
I get two messages that make no sense to me, but I hope indicated something that someone here can help me undertstand...
When I open the iCloud preference pane in System Preferences, It says just below the Back to my Mac setting "Configure Router for better performance" - My Airport Extreme is configured with  Back to my Mac and it looks like my account shows a green indicator.
Second, next to the Back to my Mac setting in the iCloud preference pane, there is a button labeled "Details..." When I click that it tells me that "Back to my Mac is not working properly because the DNS server isnt' responding" and suggests I contact my ISP for a different DNS server.
All other internet services - including iCloud services - are working fine. I even tried changing my DNS servers to Google's public DNS servers and nothing changed.
Any suggestions are very much appreciated! Thank you!

  • Quantum Gateway Port Forwarding issues

This post can be removed.... the port forwarding worked once I set it up under "Advanced Settings -> Network Settings ->Port Forwarding" instead of "Firewall -> Port Forwarding"
    Hello,
I am having an issue setting up port forwarding.  I have made several attempts to make port forward TCP 8096, but it continues not to work.  I had it working with no problems at my with my old router before we moved so I know it's not an issue with my computer firewall or antivirus and MediaBrowser is working fine on the local network. Is anyone else experiencing Port Forwarding issues?  Also when will DMZ be enabled on this gateway?
Any help would be apprciated. I'm trying to setup MediaBrowser so I can schedule recordings when i'm not at home.
    Thanks!

  • Cat 3750-Span (Port Mirroring issue)

    Hello team
I am facing port mirroring issue in my setup. Details of the setup are mentioned below
    Setup--
Stack of 4 catalyst switches WS-C3750X-48P running software 15.0(1) SE3 .Approximately 12 vlans are configured in this setup and port mirroring is done for all vlans with destination configured as single Gig Ethernet port...The setup works fine from mirroring perspective for 3-4 days and after that machine connected to destination port stops getting data.
    Observations-
It has been observed that during the issue, the port configured for mirror destination has lot of packet drop/input errors on the port statistics.
If we configure only TX packet mirroring, it works for 8 -10 days
If we configure TX & RX packet mirroring, it works for 2-3 days
    Testing done
Tried clearing counter on destination port but no success (mirroring doesn’t start)
Tried  shut /no shut for the destination port but no success.
Tried restarting the machine connected to destination port but no success
    Workaround
We need to reconfigure the mirroring configuration after removing the mirroring config from the switch. Once the same is done, mirroring starts working.
    Want to understand
1-is there any HW limitation for the switch (destination port not capable of handling mirroring traffic)
2-is there any software related issue?
3-what can be permanent resolution for the same..

    Hello
We have tried this previously but found same result.
1- we deleted the monitror session and recreated again with same session number
2-we deleted the monitor session and created new session (session id diffrent ) with same config..
in both cases its working for 3-4 days..

  • OC4J port binding issue

This thread is in OC4J/J2EE forum, but it feels like it could be an Redhat AS2.1 port handling issue, so I'm copying here...
I'm having some problems with OC4J standalone. Starting and stopping OC4J gives error:
"Error starting HTTP-Server: Address already in use"
and sometimes "Error starting ORMI-Server. Unable to bind socket: Address already in use
and almost always "Error starting JMS-Server: Unable to bind socket: Address already in use
Starting and stopping a few times usually results in a successful restart, but this is intermittent success and not predictable. Reallocating with a different port numbers means successful start fist time, but then it follows the same pattern.
This is OC4J standalone 9.0.3 pure java deployed on Linux RHAS 2.1...
    Java version is 1.3.1.1_02-b02
My start and stop scripts look like this :
    startoc4j.csh
    #!/bin/csh
    java -Xmx100m -Xms100m -Dscm.logon=true -jar oc4j.jar -userThreads &
    stopoc4j.csh
    #!/bin/csh
    java -jar admin.jar ormi://localhost:50501 admin ias_admin1 -shutdown
Has anyone seen this before? Is there a standard start / stop script for OC4J standalone on UNIX that I can use?
    Thanks,
    Mark

This was found to be a JRE on Linux bug. Solution was to upgrade to Javasoft 1.4.1...

  • WRTU54G-TM Port Forward issues, DHCP server disabled but still gives out addresses

I've seen other posts about port-forwarding issues.  I've had to hard-reset the device twice in 2 months to clear this up.
One issue that I can't figure out at all is that the DHCP server gives out addresses when it is set to disabled.  This is a problem because it gives out the public DNS servers, which will not resolve addresses on my LAN.  Anyone else seen this?
Anyone had success putting this router behind a better one and still getting the phone SIM to register and work?

Have you tried to upgrade the firmware on your Router?
Click Download  the latest firmware for your Router and save the Firmware file on your Desktop.
Once you Download the firmware for your Router, Now you need to login to the Router setup page and click on the "Administration" tab and below click on "Firmware Upgrade" and then click on the Browse Button and select the firmware file and click on Upgrade.
Once the firmware is upgraded successfully then you need to Reset your Router and Re-configure all the settings on your Router from scratch.

  • UDP Port 1900

According to the firewall console log, I seem to be bombarded with UDP requests, because the firewall is denying these requests several times per second. They seem to be directed towards Port 1900 "in via en0". Does anyone know what this means? Is it safe to open all UDP ports, or Port 1900 in particular, or is this likely to be a point of malicious entry? Could these requests be coming from my own wireless router?
Thanks in advance for any advice from anyone out there...

  • Ethernet Port Software Issue

A few weeks ago, I noticed that my ethernet port was not working. It would not recognize when a cable was plugged in. This came along with a startup issue, so when I took it into the apple store to have it looked at, they replaced the logic board. It fixed the startup issue, so I assumed that it fixed the ethernet issue. I have now realized that it didn't. So I took it back to the apple store and they booted my computer from a separate drive, and the ethernet port worked just fine. So, the genius told me, the port problem is a software issue. He told me to reinstall leopard and that it should fix it. It didn't. So my ethernet port is not working because of a software issue. Does anybody know where to start? Thanks!

One way to test it is to configure it via the Unix back end. From a terminal window (you have to be root to do this, or prefix every command with sudo):
    ifconfig en0 192.168.16.12 255.255.255.0 up
    route add default -net 192.168.0.0 192.168.16.1 255.255.0.0
Substitute your own numbers for the correct addresses and subnet mask. The address on the ifconfig line is for your ethernet interface. The one in the route line is your default gateway.
    Then type:
    ifconfig en0
and it will show how the ethernet port is configured. Be sure the address and subnet mask are correct.
    netstat -r
and it should show the routing table, including the default route you added, bound to the en0 interface.
Then try using the network. If it works correctly, it's a software issue.

  • Apple TV Not Syncing - Error Suggesting Firewall Port 3869 Issue

I am suddenly having issues syncing my PC iTunes library with my Apple TV. iTunes is giving a message stating that the Apple TV is not responding and that I should confirm that my firewall port 3869 is open. I turned off the firewall for a few moments to see if the issue would be resolved and it is not.
iTunes can see the Apple TV, can see what media is installed on the device but cannot sync to it. Any suggestions??

A few people have reported that deleting the iTunes application and re-installing it can resolve this problem. Also make sure you have the latest version of Bonjour installed on your PC.

I seem to have a dodgie pop-port on my phone or dodgie cables?
I wiggle the pc cable and that causes it to disconnect from the pc and phone yet its still in the socket and the headset sometimes if i wiggle it, the sound cuts out..
Can I take this to a Nokia shop to get it fixed under warranty or do I have to RMA it back to Expansys?

Yes, Nokia's pop-port wasn't their best invention. I had similar problems with my 6280 and I've heard countless other people with similar issues.
What I used to do always was to blow on the handset's connector in order to dislodge any dust particles, and then wipe the contacts on the headphone or USB cable with a soft cloth in order to get rid of dust/grease/etc. Then annd only then did I get a relatively stable connection.

  • WRT1900 Port Forward Issue

Im hoping this can be resolved quickly. Last night I found out my NAT on xbox one is set to moderate.
And I am having trouble following port forward quides.
I reserved a DHCP for my xbox one in network map and seemed to switch to Open NAT not sure if this fixed the party issue I was having earlier.
Moving on if I am to forward the ports do I go to port range forwarding and use the IP address reserved from the network map?
Essentially is a static IP and a reserved DHCP the same thing?

Try to disable the dlink camera then try to use the websites like: www.mydomainname.com,  www.mydomainname.com:81,  www.mydomainname.com:80, and others to see where they are getting directed.
Second let me know the IP address of NAS, Web Server and the Camera..As well as try to disable the UpnP in the Router web UI..

Thanks for visiting our forums. I actually had a similar
situation. I had the iPhone 3GS and used it all the time on a FM transmitter in
my car. When I upgraded to the iPhone 4, it wouldn’t work with the FM
transmitter. I never figured out why it wouldn’t work. I would suggest you
continue working with the manufacturer of the device or wait to see if the next
    iOS update addresses this issue.
