Port 6112 simply won't forward (WRT54GS V5 w/ Firmware 1.50.9)

Hey there. Most of the time when I forward ports for applications, it just works and everything is fine. But when I try to forward the port 6112, a NAT will be detected every time when I try to connect to applications that use that port.
I have tried using DMZ, using a static IP, and disabling "Block Anonymous Internet Requests" along with obviously forwarding the port in "applications and gaming."
Can anyone please tell me why it won't forward? Thanks!

I tried opening up a range of ports (6111-6113) and it did not work. This would essentially be doing the same as DMZ, but on a smaller scale (DMZ also did not work.) Also, I am upgraded to the latest Firmware (1.50.9, as I stated in the thread title). Any ideas?
I'm using this website (http://www.checksum.org/cso/networkTools/tilesCheckPort.jsp) and another website to test, and they both show negative results.

  • Help Opening PORT 6112 for WarCraftIII Hosting

I'm trying to help my son use WarCraftIII to host a game in our iMac G5, but no one can join. Successful hosting is supposed to be an issue of opening port 6112 but no success yet.
What I have done so far:
    1) Set Linksys BEFSR41 router to forward port 6112 both ways. Contacted blizzard tech support today and they told me I needed to open the port in Linksys router by following instructions at http//:www.portforward.com for my router, and the WarCraft III game (fyi this is a very nice site, anyone with router setting issues should check it out). I went to the site, clicked on "Forward", found my router (Linksys BEFSR41v1.39)in the list below, then found my game WarCraft III in game list and followed instructions at this website: http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/portforwarding/Linksys/BEFSR41v1.40.2/WarcraftIII.htm
    2) Opened port 6112 in Mac OS FileSharing FireWall. I'm not so sure I got this part right. I went to System Prefs, File Sharing, FireWall and clicked New. Then I entered 6112 in both TCP and UDP (cause I don't know which it is) and selected Other and gave it the name WarcraftIII1 (used this name, because we were helping a friend set up his router (Linksys WRT54G) to pass 6112, and the portforward.com instructions had us enter that text in Application field for the port forwarding range: http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/portforwarding/Linksys/WRT54G/WarcraftIII.htm So, I figured this was as good a name as any to use in FireWall setting.
Ideas I have not tried yet:
    1) Maybe I need to update my Linksys firmware? I noticed that the Portforward instructions were for Linksys firmware 1.40.2 My firmware is 1.39 (going to Linksys site I see there's a newer version v1.46.02 available). So, maybe I need to download and apply (but I don't want to screw up my current router settings - since the work! - and I'm figuring it's likely to lose all current settings with a firmware update).
    2) Maybe I need a different name in the FireWall port than "WarcraftIII1"? Maybe one of the pull-down options are what I should have used.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1.5 Gb RAM

    Hey Tim,
Thanks for tip on preparing for firmware update. As it turns out, all settings were wiped when I did the update. But I like the approach of having 'clean' setup before update (sort of like running Disk Utility before and after new sofware installs).
I tried turning off the Mac OS firewall, but it didn't help (so I don't think that's the root cause - but a good thing to test). Part of the www.portforward.com instructions for using my Linksys router with WarCraftIII include setting to DISABLE the "Block WAN Request" option. I don't know much about router security, but this makes me feel more vulnerable. So, I prefer to keep Mac OS firewall enabled, as long as it doesn't get in the way (also MacWorld's most recent issue recommended firewall ON, and activate Advanced settings turning ON options for Block UDP Traffic, and Enable Stealth Mode). Having my firewall set up in this way hasn't been any problem for me at all for past 1.5 yrs, until just recently when I tried hosting WarCraftIII Custom Game (reason I want to do that, is it allows my son to play online against only friends we know - call me overprotective, and I'll happily plead guilty). As a case in point, I was on the Battle.Net USEast Open Tech Support chat channel last night (you get to this from within the WarCraftIII application), asking if someone would do a quick test and join my Custom Game. During that brief interchange, one of the other people on the channel types in all caps "I want to f**k your mother" (without the *'s)". I'm thinking, yeah Custom Game is the way to go, I'd don't want my son out here with the likes of you. Thankfully, someone else agreed to the test. Unfortunately it failed.
I think I've about got it beat though. I found on the blizzard.com support site, a way to use Terminal to run a traceroute by typing (without the quotes) "traceroute us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com > ~/Desktop/tracert.txt" and press the Return key. Previously I was getting all *'s back in the results (which means no recognized connections). Now, I'm getting IP addresses and ms timing for hops so it appears I'm getting through. http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=aww0827p5
But, I've got to go and won't be able to test ability to join a Custom Game with my son's friend until later tonight.
    Thanks again. C

  • E2000: Some IPs simply won't "talk"

I don't understand what is going on and it's getting me extremely frustrated. I have certain machines/IP addresses that simply won't "talk" on the network. The machine itself can talk to the internet through the router but no other computer on the local network can talk to it. This is my setup: E2000 Wireless Router IP Range: 192.168.10.x (Because my work network is 192.168.1.x and It needs to be different for the VPN to work. I have DHCP reservations setup for two devices and these devices seem to be the ones that have the problem although in the past I have seen this problem with devices that are NOT setup with reservations and I put it on a reservation in order to MAKE it talk. One is a printer right now that is not setup on a reservation yet it is inaccessible. So, what happens? If I do a local network scan, the computer or device, doesn't show up. If I try to ping it, nothing. I can't remote control it, nothing it is as if the system doesn't exist on the network. There is no firewall turned on on the device, it is able to surf the Internet. On one machine, have port forwarding setup to it on the router (thus the reservation) and it forwards to it just fine. but if I'm on the local network no go. Also, I found that if I go back to a 192.168.1.x network. There is no problem talking to any of these devices. It is only when I set it to another one. Yes, I have rebooted the machines, I have double-checked their IP addresses. In some cases if I choose another IP in the DHCP range, the computer will suddenly start talking. If I move it back to the original IP address is had, it stops talking. It's as if my router is black-listing specific IPs. I am getting more and more frustrated by this device. I am considering getting something else.

Don't use DHCP reservation.  You want static IP's on those device, especially printers.  Make the DHCP range of the router 192.168.1.50 through 192.168.1.254.  This leaves 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.49 for static IP's.  Set your static devices to 192.168.1.10 and 20.  Now try.

  • Setting up router for port forwarding - WRT54G

Hi all. I'm trying to set up my WRT54G wireless router so.i can port forward the relevant ports for my programs. I understand that you have to set up a static ip address before you can do a port forward which makes sense as you do not want to keep changing the ip address for the forwarding settings every time your network refreshes. But I cant seem to have it set up. And is there a rule that the static ip that you set should not be within the dhcp range?
After setting up the static ip and setting up the port forward settings how do I test if the port is being forwarded correctly?
    Please assist! Thanks!

IIt;s usually to set the static IP outside the DHCP range like you said. You can use the router's DHCP reservation feature to set a "static IP", and as for your last question, you can find different methods on how to do that by searching the web.
I don't work for Cisco. I'm just here to help.

  • NAT Port forwarding WRT54G

    Hi!
I used several versions of wrt54g, but as fasr as I know none has the following feature:
    Outside ip: unknown
Outside port: let's choose for example 14642
Inside ip: a static chosen ip
inside port: let's choose for ftp port 21
So the thing is, that the router forwards all connections from the internet on the port 14642 to the local static ip chosen, and its well known port number 21.
    Is there a way to achieve this in WRT54G? v1.1, v5, v6 and v7
If not, will there be an upgrade making that possible?
    Thanks.

Gateway configurations are problematic with Mac OS X Server.
(There are many previous discussions around the forums.)
Getting this to work is fussy, at best.
You can also end up with ports unexpectedly open.
An external firewall is usually the easiest choice.

  • My firewire port simply won't work

Both of my Fire wire ports are unable to read my IPOD, and my brother's IPOD Mini. At first I thought that that might be the cable problem, yet the cable does the battery charging okay???
I use the same fire wire cable to connect to my brother's ibook, and it recognize the IPOD and IPOD Mini okay!!! So I guess the cable is okay!
What is going on with my Fire wire??? Please help!
By the way, my 1st USB port from top would randomly not recongnize my storage or IPOD devices as well!

Similar problem here. We've had Apple (via our local authorized repair shop) replace the motherboard, which helped for a while.
The tech has thrown up his hands. Calling Applecare is our next, reluctant step.
The main symptom is that when using Final Cut to render large files to the external FW devices (there are, variously, 2-3, some connected to the 800 port, some to the 400 FW ports), it'll crank away for a while and then the drives unmount and won't come back onto the desktop even after a restart. I haven't tried leaving it off for 15 minutes, and haven't reset the PRAM yet.
How do I do that, again? It's been a while.
We're thinking now that it's either a software problem, and are considering a complete clean installation. Or, it's one of the FW drives that's got a problem, and is frying the ports somehow.
I have my doubts about this because it seems to happen only on this machine. We've moved the FW drives to a G4 laptop, and it works fine.
Is there any known issue -- hardware or software-- with the G5's FW circuitry?

  • Airport Express won't forward port 1119

I can't seem to get my Airport Express to forward traffic to port 1119 to my laptop, even though it forwards traffic to port 55555 just fine.
Airport Express is sharing the public IP with my DSL modem, the laptop has a DHCP reservation, and I have forwarded both ports via Airport Utility > Advanced > Port Mapping. However, tools like the port scan at whatismyip.org show that port 55555 is open but port 1119 is not. I get similar results with port 1120, and putting 1119 and 55555 together inside the same item gives me the same results.
Does anyone know why this is happening or what I can do to troubleshoot? I am comfortable with the Terminal and most networking concepts but this I can't understand.

    Some questions...
    1) Are you forwarding UDP and TCP?
    2) Does the server you are trying to contact require both UDP and TCP?
    3) Does netstat show a listener on port 1119 on your machine?
    4) Are you running firmware 7.5.2?  I and a number of other persons have had
problems like you are describing with this firmwre. In my case a UDP port used
by VPN would suddenly quit forwarding packets. I had to downgrade to 7.4.2 in order
       to clear the problem.

  • Help! My ports won't forward!?

I want to forward some ports on my computer for my WOW server, but nothing seems to get them to forward. I am using Apple time capsule as a router and using the ubee comcast modem, and running on a mac. I've tried forwarding ports through static port forwarding in the time capsule, tried forwarding the ports through the IPv6 firewall on the time capsule, and also tried using several third-party programs such as Port Map and Lighthouse, but they don't work any better. I tried to see if my modem was blocking it, but when I went to the config page I can't change anything, it just shows data. My setup is Internet --> Modem --> Router --> Computer and internet voice service. I've tried just about every tutorial on the web, and nothing works. When I remove the static ports and use the Lighthouse program it works a little better, but it still does not open the ports. I have no idea how to fix this and am open to any ideas. Is my modem somehow blocking it? Is there some crucial step I am not following?
    Thanks.

Using an Airport Base station (similar to Time Capsule's) I needed to set a manual IP address on the Mac I was forwarding to. You need to choose an address outside of the TC's default DHCP range of 2 to 200.
Another option is the set up a DHCP reservation for that machine in the TC, if that is possible. On the AEBS, it is Internet, DHCP tab, and add to list at bottom of window.

  • Firewire port on Macpro won't work with my Sony DV Cam

I just got my Macpro and love it-but I do have a small problem that maybe somebody can help with.
I have a Sony PD100A. I was using this camera on my PC just up until last week and grabbing video via firewire into Premier. It all worked fine.
On my Mac, I plug into a firewire port, and neither iMovie or FCpro can capture from the camera. I seems to recognize the camera, but when you try to capure video, it just locks up.
I also have a firewire hard drive that I'm using to tranfer data from my PC to the Mac-it works just fine. Which leads me to believe somehow the camera isn't working with the Mac.
HOWEVER-I use a Digidesign Digi 002 rack attached to a firewire port on the back. The 002 has a passthrough firewire port on the back, so I hooked up the camera. Lo and behold, the Capture now works. But only by going through the 002.
I'd really like to be able to capture video by just plugging my camera inot the fron Firewire posts after I shoot some tape.
Does anybody have an idea why the front or rear firewire ports won't control or capture from my camera directly?
Thanks in advance for any help with this.
    Greg

A couple of things to try…
    1) Open a new user account and see if it works there
    2) Reset PRAM and NVRAM…
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
    3) Reset the System Management Controller…
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304123
    4) Try your other Firewire ports
    5) Boot off another drive and see if it's your software rather than possibly hardware

  • Computer won't detect WRT54G router

I got the WRT54G router. I plugged the router into the power source, then i plugged the the cable from the modem to the router, then the cable from the computer to the router. All four lights were lit. Then the computer would never detect the router. I tried plugging in and out, and the same problem. All the cable were in the right places. I'm guessing it has to do with my computer itself rather than the router. I have Windows XP

okay...first off check the physical connection, make sure that computer is connected directly to the no. 1 or no. 2 ethernet port of the router...click on start >> run >> cmd >> type ipconfig and hit enter, find out the IP address and try pinging to default gateway...if you are getting any replies, let me know the ISP details, so that i can tell you step by step configuration of the router...

  • My SGE 2000 24 port POE switch won't boot

    Hi,
I have a sge 2000 24 port POE switch that won't boot, won't communicate on console or TCP/IP, and all of the port lights are lit up green. Holding down the reset button doesn't fix the issue and there aren't any lights illuminated on the left hand side of the switch. Do I have a future doorstop?
    Any ideas?

Hi David, if you're unable to console the switch, there isn't an alternative recovery method. You should check the warranty by calling the SBSC to see if you're entitled to replacement.

  • Jsp:forward won't forward to the correct URL

I'm using JSP with an Apache2 + Tomcat4 + OpenSSL server. I have configured the web server to rewrite URLs for hyperlinks (eg. <a href="dest_page.jsp:SSL> ... </a>) to Fully Qualified URL for the purpose of facilitating SSL for the applicable links. Thus dest_page.jsp:SSL should transform into https://www.mysite.com/nirvana/dest_page.jsp.  This works fine for the links, but the page is also forwarded to by a controller JSP.
The <jsp:forward> tag in my controller doesn't seem to except a FQDN. The orginial code follows:
    <%
       String op = (String) request.getParameter(operation");
    if( op.equals("buyitem") )
    if( !userObj.LoggedIn() )
    %>
    <jsp:forward page="register.jsp"
    <%
    else ....
The desired affect is to transform the page param from "register.jsp" to "https://www.mysite.com/nirvana/register.jsp". The URL rewriting has no effect on the forward tag "register.jsp:SSL" results in "/nirvana/register.jsp:SSL" where "/nirvana" is an alias configed in the webserver that forms a relative path to the URL. Needless to say this won't work.
If I try to use the FQDN ("https://www.mysite.com/nirvana/register.jsp") in the page param then I get "/nirvana/https://www.mysite.com/nirvana/register.jsp" which is also wrong.
To sum it up, rewrite doesn't work for forwarding. So I tried a FQDN, but the forward tag always prepends an alias. What do I need to do?
    Thanks,
    Osensei

jsp:forward is only relative, IE you can't forward to https://...
page="{relativeURL | <%= expression %>}" A String or an expression representing the relative URL of the file to which you are forwarding the request. The file can be another JSP file, a servlet, or any other dynamic file that can handle a request object.
You can try using this guys custom tag for sendRedirect:
    http://coldjava.hypermart.net/servlets/redirtag.htm
or use response.sendRedirect(); which sends a HTTP 301 back to the browser with the new URL.

  • New song simply WON'T play

I downloaded "looking for a good time" yesterday. Everytime I click on it, it simply jumps to another song. I dowloaed two other songs yesterday, at the same time I dowloaded this one, no problems. I even downloaded it twice, neither version plays. Tried to play it through Quiktime and Windows Media Player and it won't. I deauthorized and authorized my computer, makes no difference. Any thoughts?

I am having the same problem. If I click a song in my library it scrolls through songs until it reaches one it wants to play...not the one I selected. I checked my preferences and tried to find a pattern as to why it goes to a particular song but I can't figure it out. It started after I activated Genius.
