Port Err-disable report from cisco works

Hi All,
We have network of around 400 switches.
My question is, Is there any way I can pull up the report of Err-disable for all the switches on Cisoworks ( LMS 3.2).
Any help would be appricated.
Thanks,
Samir

No, this is not possible because determining if a port is err-disable is not easily obtainable via SNMP.  Campus Manager's Port Attributes report will show you the operational status of ports, but err-disable ports will be down (which is indistinguishable from a port which is unconnected).

    Hi Gurus,
Does this mean i cannot use a cisco sfp?
    Thanks.
    Jeff

Non-Cisco SFPs are a challenge. They ussually work, unless ...
    - you use 2 SFPs with the same S/N (yes some vendors do not try to make them different), usually brings down port with the one previously installed, meaning service outage on already running line
    - you change IOS and there is a change in behaviour of SFP detection
    - you use them in ES20+G card and they show as always up, no detection of link failure, disconnected fiber or so
Some SFPs do not even require to input magic command mentioned before. So it is up to your decision and posibilities. If you find decent supplier it may be worth the try, but I would stay with original Cisco on modular platforms.

  • Remove a report from CUCM Cisco Unified Reporting

    Hello,
I did a Unified CM Cluster Overview report in CUCM 8.6 (a cluster with 2 nodes, replication is good) but it took a long time. So I stopped the process.
But when I enter the Unified CM Cluster Overview in Unified Reporting, it shows that generated report. And when I click it, it shows
"ERROR : Fatal error encountered while validating report XML with schema".
My question is : How can I delete a report from Cisco Unified Reporting ?
I searched in Cisco Unified Reporting Administration Guide and I didn't found a way to do it.
EDIT : Well the report was being generated, and the report can finally be displayed. But the question remains open. How can I delete this report ?
    Thank you for your answers.

    Hi Mohamed,
Generate a new report, it will overwrite the old one. There is no option to delete it from cucm admin page. If you are concerned about the time it took to generate the report the first time then restart the Database Layer Monitor and Tomcat services before running a fresh report. Tomcat needs to be restarted from CLI of the Pub ( utils service restart Cisco Tomcat ), it is case sensitive.

  • Audit Reports on Cisco Security Manager

Is there a way to schedule audit reports from Cisco Security Manager and distribute those reports via email or some other method?
My auditors want a daily report of firewall configuration changes. They do not want to login into CS-Mgr every day to manually generate the report.

Security Audit operates in one of two modes-the Security Audit wizard, which lets you choose which potential security-related configuration changes to implement on your router, and One-Step Lockdown, which automatically makes all recommended security-related configuration changes.
On routers that do not support the command scheduler interval, Security Audit configures the scheduler allocate command whenever possible. When a router is fast-switching a large number of packets, it is possible for the router to spend so much time responding to interrupts from the network interfaces that no other work gets done. Some very fast packet floods can cause this condition. It may stop administrative access to the router, which is very dangerous when the device is under attack. The scheduler allocate command guarantees a percentage of the router CPU processes for activities other than network switching, such as management processes.
The configuration that will be delivered to the router to set the scheduler allocate percentage is as follows:
    scheduler allocate 4000 1000

  • Cisco works error messages

    Posted by: alphaomegait - Aug 15, 2005, 7:00am PST
I get messages this, “ InCharge Domain : DFM Clear: Router FALSE 172.16.1.17 PerformanceException - System is experiencing Port or Interface performance problems.”
all day long from Cisco Works.
I have not been able to find anything in technical support on the Cisco site to help with this. Can anyone give me a push in the right direction?
    Thanks up front.

I think you have QOS setup on the interface it is possible that this is causing the drops and to rule it out we should try removing "service-policy output llq " from the interface and see if the drops still increment.

  • Cisco Works - need to re-use a 3560, how to delete and re-add in Cisco Works

Hello.  I did not see a cisco works section on the forum, forgive me if it's there and I missed it.  I have removed a 3560 switch from one location and am going to rename it (same IP though) and deply it in a different department.  We have cisco works sending critical and informational alerts as well as backup the configs on Sunday mornings.  I think I was able to get it to stop sending alerts when I unplugged and unhooked the switch.  I want to give the switch a new host name and re-deploy it.  I assume it will be easier to delete and then re-add the switch to cisco works.  Is the a document where I can follow steps to remove it from cisco works?  I have the documentation, but it is hard to read and they don't really have an area that specifically says "remove a switch from cisco works", and I don't want to break everything for the other 55 switches that cisco works does do the alerts and backups for.  I know cisco works is full of different modules, so I was wondering if there was a document or some type of help I could get for doing this.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.  Mike Baker

    Hi,
It sounds like a tutorial may be what you are looking for. Here is one based on LMS 3.1.
    https://learningnetwork.cisco.com/docs/DOC-4031
To remove a device from DCR (Device & Credential Repository) navigate to Common Services > Device and Credentials > Device Management.

  • Cisco Works Integration with MARS

Can cisco works be integrated with MARS. I mean cisco works is acting as a syslog server for some switches. Can mars pull the records from Cisco Works and use it for its co-relation

As Michael pointed out, configuring two syslog destinations on your switch is possible, and allows the switch to send to both CiscoWorks and CS-MARS simultaneously.  This affords the safety that should one system be down, the other system will continue to receive syslog events from the switches.  Should you not wish to configure two logging destinations on your switch, you could configure your switches to send their syslogs to CS-MARS and configure CS-MARS to relay the received syslog messages to CiscoWorks.  This options is outlined in the CS-MARS user guide:

  • Cisco Wireless LAN Controller 4402 under Cisco Works RME 4.0?

I am trying to manage a Cisco 4402 using non-default snmp communities from Cisco Works RME 4.0.  RME Credential Verification fails with “Device Not Supported” recorded against selected option; however, the controller does respond to snmp queries.  The 4402 has snmpv1 through snmpv3 enabled; and the snmp communities are associated with the correct client IP.  Is the WLC only responsive to snmp from the WLS and should the box be manageable via it’s management interface.  ICMP and telnet to the WLC from RME works OK.
Advice and Guidance would be greatly appreciated.

What firmware version are on the WLC's..... minimum is 5.0.148 per the RME Table.

  • Interfaces in port-channel keep err-disabling because of keepalives

Below is the current portchannel that I am having problems with.  The interfaces on Switch A keep going into an error disabled state because they receive their own loopback.  Cisco says to disable keepalives and that it will fix the problem, but I do not like the idea of disabling keepalives.  Has anyone found a solution other than disabling keepalives?  Notice that ios's are different, but am not convinced that this is the issue.  Also one is PoE and the other isn't.  Lastly, i found this article "Keepalives are sent on all interfaces by default in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1EA-based software. In Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2SE-based software and later, keepalives are not sent by default on fiber and uplink interfaces".  I would think trunked interfaces in a port-channel would be uplink interfaces and if this is true, it should be sending out keepalives anyway since i am running the 12.2SE based ios.  Thanks for whatever input you may have.

or 3750 switch running 12.1EA or 12.2SE based code.
    Workaround:
Disable keepalives by using the no keepalive interface command. This
will prevent the port from being errdisabled, but it does not resolve the root
cause of the problem. Please see section below for more information.
    Additional Information:
The problem occurs because the keepalive packet is looped back to the port that
sent the keepalive. There is a loop in the network. Although disabling the
keepalive will prevent the interface from being errdisabled, it will not remove
    the loop.
The problem is aggravated if there are a large number of Topology Change
Notifications on the network. When a switch receives a BPDU with the Topology
Change bit set, the switch will fast age the MAC Address table. When this
happens, the number of flooded packets increases because the MAC Address table
    is empty.

  • LMS 4.2 - Err-disable port state

    Hello,
I'm trying to figure it out how exactly LMS learns about ports in err-disable state? Which MIB or command is used?
I have two ME3400 switches with err-disabled ports but LMS shows only the ports of one of the them. Both switches are ME-3400-24TS-A
and have the same IOS version (12.2(53)SE). I'm sure data collection is running fine because it updates the other discrepancies.
What i have tried by now:
    - did an SNMP walk from LMS on CISCO-ERR-DISABLED-MIB - no info found there on port status
    - did an SNMP walk from LMS on CISCO-STACK-MIB - I know that this MIB contains object portAdditionalOperStatus (1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.4.1.1.23) which shows the operational status of the ports, but it seems that ME3400 does not support it (although it supports CISCO-STACK-MIB), because I cannot see the SNMP reponse in the trace:
    ========================================================================
The following is a SNMP walk of device 192.168.6.89 starting from .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.4.1.1.23

CISCO-STACK-MIB::portAdditionalOperStatus = No Such Object available on this agent at this OID
    ========================================================================
So how does LMS knows which ports are in err-disable state?
    Kind regards,
    Velin

    Hello,
The OID that LMS uses for detecting the err-disabled state of the ports is 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.548.1.3.1.1.2 (cErrDisableIfStatusCause) from CISCO-ERR-DISABLE-MIB

  • Looking for Tool - Port Security/err-disable

I have implemented port security on our new 3750X's.  Does anyone know, or using, a tool that can report, poll or alert when an interface goes into err-disable and what caused the violation?

Thanks Marvin.  I was hoping there was another utility, as well.  We have a syslog server, which does get the syslog messages.  I was hoping for a more proactive response versus a query for the information.  Building trends and such is not a big deal with the syslog data.
Our environment is fairly large with 70 buildings at one location and 15 at another.  Being a University we have students who try different things on the network as well as other "IT" arms doing their own thing.  We have a monitoring tool, Intermapper, but I was hoping there was something else that could be used, or someone else using something better, to give us a real time view, and something that could collect all the data at once and provide a report.
I was not sure if Cisco Prime Infrastructure provided that functionality or not, or if there was another product recommended.

  • How can I get CDP neighbor information from access point reports in Cisco Prime 2.0

How can I get CDP neighbor information from access point reports in Cisco Prime 2.0?  I have looked through all the reports and I cannot find a report that gives me the CDP neighbor information of an access point.  I thought that information was in there, however I cannot seem to find it.

    Hi
You can get this from an inventory report in PI (Select Report Type AP). Here is an example of PI 2.1 works for me. Once you export this into excel you can sort based on controllers & filter the single controller connected AP you want.

  • Verifying data coming from Cisco Unified CCX Historical Reports

    Good afternoon
I (along with a number of other colleagues) are heavily involved in a project to take data from a wide variety of different sources and merge it all into one system so that we can report on it in a joined-up manner.
The project comprises a number of different types of data source (such as Telephony or CRM). Within each data source type, we have various suppliers of those products. In the case of telephony data (which I'm looking into at the moment), the eventual aim is to make it possible to take data from any of the telephony platforms in use across our business (currently AVAYA, Alcatel and Cisco) and report on it in a uniform way, thus negating the need for an end-user to know what the Cisco definition of AHT is (for example).
The switch I'm currently looking at is a managed switch, meaning that we don't have any sort of direct access to the back-end database(s). We could probably get it, but I suspect that the company that manages it for us would probably charge a small fortune for that. In view of this, I'm working with a number of the standard reports in the Cisco Unified CCX system. My plan (at the moment anyway) is to identify the reports that we can use that will best provide details of all calls into and out of our contact centres. I'd be looking to get the exact details of each individual call, which could then be rolled up into manageable intervals (such as 15-minute or 30-minute).
Before I go much further, I'd like to be clear on something: I'm a database developer rather than a telecoms engineer so if I ask something that appears to be obvious then I apologise in advance. I've got quite a bit of experience of working with the CTI system that sits on top of our AVAYA platform, but it's proving to be a bit of a wrench effectively "un-learning" that system so that I can make room in my head for the Cisco solution.
So, what I've learned (or have guessed) so far is this:
    When I run the Application Performance Analysis report, the Application Names that are returned are effectively the Call Routes that are set up in the system. Each Call Route can be fed by one or more Called Number (which I understand to essentially be a DDI);
    The Application Summary Analysis report shows the same Application Name information as is shown in the Application Performance Report. However this report also shows the Called Number, thus providing slightly more information about the individual DDI being answered;
My next plan is to try and run an Agent-level report so that I can see exactly which calls each agent handled. This is where I've run into problems: I ran the CSQ - Agent Summary report for the whole of 17th October. I then ran the Agent Detail report for the same period, and ran it out to CSV so that I could "play" with the data. The CSQ - Agent Summary Report shows that a particular agent on a particular CSQ Name (ID) handled a total of 29 calls. However, if I filter the Agent Detail report for that agent and CSQ, I get a total of 30 calls and for the life of me am unable to identify where the missing call is coming from. Initially I'd thought it might be bacause the CSQ in question has two separate DDIs but as far as I can see, this is making no difference.
I NEED to be 100% sure that when I'm importing the data from the Cisco reports into our system, I am then able to mimic the types of reports that are coming from Cisco, with the same figures. Therefore, if anyone can help me, I'll be extremely grateful.
    TIA
    Ian Henderson

The "Cisco Unified CCX Historical Reports Scheduler" sits in my startup folder but seems like it doesn't "run" at startup. So I ran a "test":
    - Manually right-clicked the "Cisco Unified CCX Historical Reports Scheduler" icon in the startup folder and chose "Run as Administrator"
I didn't log off or reboot PC and the reports are running again. I checked the "properties" of the icon and I did make sure it was already set to "Run this program as an Administrator" under the "Compatibility" tab.
Not sure why it's not working...
