Port for EM Grid Control
hi,
i'm confused - what kind of port should i enter in the process of installation on "Specify Repository Database Configuration" step? How could i obtain this port prior to installation? Neither 5500, nor 1830 are work. (1521 also)
thanks in advance.

This is the listener port of your database. See into your tnsnames.ora file on which port your database is declared.

Do we have any certification for OEM -grid control ?
Do we have any certification for OEM -grid control ?
There is currently no OEM grid control certification and currently no plans to build one. You can stay up-to-date on new and upcoming Oracle releases on our website at http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=224.

RAC environment setup for OEM Grid Control
Hi All,
One of my customer is setting up RAC environment for OEM Grid Control, he has following questions.
1) Can I use the DirectNFS client on each RAC node to mount SAN storage created with an OCFS2 filesystem?
2) Can I use the DirectNSF client to mount the shared filesystem loader directory?
3) Should I be using DirectNFS for the shared filesystem loader at all? Or should I just use a normal Linux NFS mount?
4) Is OCFS2 preferred over NFS for the shared filesystem loader?
Any information is highly appriciated.
Thank you,
BhavinPlease check the below doc

Which? - License for OEM Grid Control or just the additional Packs and Add-Ins?
I took a look at the price list and I wanted to clarify the "Named User Plus". The Diagnostic and Tuning Packs are each shown as $100 for the named user. As a DBA, if I have a named user license for these two management packs, does this mean that I can manage as many databases as needed with these two management packs?
Wow, 25 separate dbcontrols sound like a nightmare.
By the way, our Oracle rep just happened to come here yesterday, and he validated what was said here.
You can install the Grid Control free; you simply un-check the Packs/Add-Ins during the install.
As I understand it, you would install the Grid Control Agent first on each server, then when you install Oracle RDBMS, the Universal Installer will detect the Agent and enable the Grid Control instead of the Database Control.
Then you install the OEM Grid Control repository and software on a separate server, and that is where you manage all of the Oracle RDBMS servers from.
He also said to use the highest version Grid Control Agents on the database servers and repository server and keep the versions of that software in sync, which is separate from the Oracle RDBMS version. -
Enabling security for OEM Grid Control 11g fails
Hi Experts,
One of my Customer is referring the below command to secure OMS and it fails.
emctl secure oms [-sysman_pwd <sysman password>] [-reg_pwd <registration password>] [-host <hostname>] [-slb_port <slb port>] [-slb_console_port <slb console port>] [-reset] [-console] [-lock] [-lock_console] [-secure_port <secure_port>] [-upload_http_port <upload_http_port>] [-root_dc <root_dc>] [-root_country <root_country>] [-root_email <root_email>] [-root_state <root_state>] [-root_loc <root_loc>] [-root_org <root_org>] [-root_unit <root_unit>] [-wallet <wallet_loc> -trust_certs_loc <certs_loc>] [-wallet_pwd <pwd>] [-key_strength <strength>] [-cert_validity <validity>] [-protocol <protocol>]
The error message as below.
Securing OMS... Started.
<May 31, 2011 4:40:31 PM CEST> <Warning> <Security> <BEA-090504> <Certificate chain received from <hostname of the actual node running OEM> - <IP of the hostname of the actual node running OEM> failed hostname verification check. Certificate contained <SLB hostname> but check expected <hostname of the actual node running OEM>
Securing OMS... Failed
The brief background of the wallet creation is as below.
The actual certificate and CSR is created using openssl with a config file openssl-oemgc.cnf. This is according to customer organization's policy and how the production signed certificates have to be requested. The CN is indeed <SLB hostname>. The used syntax was:
openssl req -new -keyout <SLB hostname>.key -out <SLB hostname>.csr -config openssl-oemgc.cnf
The config file content can be referred in the service request.
Following the guide on
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/e13749/utils.htm#ADMRF151
the certificates were imported into a java keystore 'identity.jks'. And the certificate chain was imported in a java keystore 'trust.jks'.
With these customer has followed note 1278609.1 to configure these keystores in WLS. The certificates show up fine without errors in the browser when opening the WLS console.
Then according to notes 1116717.1 customer has created an Oracle wallet. Then he copied that wallet to an old 10g oracle application server and opened the wallet with 'owm' and saved it. Then he has copied the wallet to the new Oem Grid Control and opened it with'owm' (this now succeeds) and saved it with SSO. This is the wallet that customer is using while trying to secure the OMS.
Service Request: 3-3731274961
Any input is highly appreciated.
Thanks
Prakash

Weblogic license required for 11g Grid Control?
Weblogic is a pre-requisite for installing 11g Grid Control.
if you do not have weblogic already, and your only requirement for it is to use for Grid Control, is a license for Weblogic required?
I have raised an SR on this - and have been told a license is required.
I'm staggered by this - the packs in Grid have always been licensable, but the very basic functionality has always been free - including the use of an 'infrastructure' database to house the repository.
I'm interested to hear other peoples' experiences and whether this is a 'known' fact.I've already asked Oracle sales staff about it, but I don't want to mislead you.
Could you remind them their restricted-use license?
Grid Control includes a restricted-use license for the Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server components required to deploy Grid Control. Refer to Section 1.3.3,
"Restricted-Use Licensing," for details on the restricted-use licenses
This is the URL of the document: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e14860.pdf
I would be happy to hear from their answer.

License for OEM Grid Control or just the additional Packs and Add-Ins?
I have searched the forums and found the link below in a discussion about the Enterprise Manager Grid Control, but nobody answered this question specifically:
Can you freely install and use the Grid Control (with no additional Packs or Add-Ins)? Or does the Grid Control itself require a license?
P.S. The price list linked here only displays prices for Grid Control Packs and Add-Ins:
www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/eplext.pdfWow, 25 separate dbcontrols sound like a nightmare.
Pre-Requisites for OEM/Grid Control?
Just to be absolutely clear - The latest version of OEM/Grid Control requires what version of Oracle DB?
We are begin conservative and rolling out 11g r1 in production and want to know if that is sufficient to host the lastet version of OEM/Grid Control.
If not, will it support an earlier version of OEM/Grid Control? What version?
Is there a support matrix that clearly identifies the version dependencies?user4431165 wrote:
Just to be absolutely clear Just to be absolutely clear, the documentation is at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11857_01/install.111/e15838/install_em_exist_db.htm#CIAIEAAC
And Support Note "Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control Certification Checker (Doc ID 412431.1)" is referenced. It states that you can use as old as Oracle Database 10g Release 2 10.2.0.4. Older than that, and you leave supported territory anyway. -
Grid Control 10.2 and Port 1521
I'm installing Grid Control on a HPUX box that has three Oracle Financials environments, and four non-financials databases. During the install, I'm asked to run a script as root. On that same screen, it says "in order to successfully install the product, any applications other than the 10g database listener running on port 1521 must be stopped". I have a 9i DB running on 1521 - for our PROD Financials. I stopped the install of the grid, not wanting to mess anything up.
My questions - is there a way to specify a different port for the Grid control? Is anybody else in the same situation as me here? What do you guru's recommend I do? I'm thinking I should install the grid control on a separate box.
Thanks...cjjThis is feature is not there in 10.2
This situation can be avoid by chagning the 9i port to 1522
or install the GC on diffrent box -
Oracle 11g grid control software for Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.0 version
Hi,
Just curious to know when Oracle 11g grid control software for Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.0 version will be released. If already released, can you post the link?
Regards,

What is the best installlation document to follow for the latest EM Grid control ?The latest Grid Control is available for download at http://download.oracle.com (Scroll down to "Enterprise Management"). There is a README beside the download link. THAT README PROVIDES INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS.
In a nutshell, you install the lowest version (10.2.0.1 or 10.2.0.2, which ever is lower for your Grid Control platform), and then apply the 10.2.0.5 patch according to the readme. That should not normally take more than a day.
>
Also, can GRID discover PeopleSoft and Siebel application software ?
That can be found using the self-help portal: http://otn.oracle.com -> Products : Enterprise Management (left edge menu). In the 'Product Focus' area, you will notice 'Application Management' which will lead you to the appropriate data sheets and supporting information. -
Event for the List Box in ALV Grid Control
Hello,
I have the below urgent requirment.
I have an ALV Grid Control built using ABAP Objects. In the grid, I have few fields and one of these fields is a List Box. Depending on the values selected, I need to enable or disable some fields. So, is there any event for the List box in ALV Grid Control.
For ex: I have 2 Fields, Designation and Commission. The designation field is a List Box field having 'Software Engineer' and 'Manager' as values. When I select 'Software Engineer', the commission field should be disabled. When I select 'Manager', the comission field should be enabled.
Early reply is hightly appreciated.

Grid Control installation for 11G: is 10g grid required ?
Dear All,
We are currently using the local dbconsole for the monitoring and doing administrative work on our 11g database. My limited experience and observation indicates that 11G does not have its own enterprise Grid control yet and it requires the older 10G grid control ? So if we deploy (albeit successfully 10G grid control), does the enterprise manager control tabs will be very different than the current dbconsole in 11G ?
Thanks.user6116850 wrote:

Thanks.Upgrade Grid Control to 10.2.0.5. Grid Control is an independent product and will not follow the same numbering as Database and App Server/Fusion.
It will provide a lot of extra pages and tabs anyway. And it will format and present the information for Oracle 11g properly to work in it's pages.
Try it and see.

ALV Grid: event for user return in ALV Grid Control
Hi developers,
i'm wanna do something after a user has pressed the return button in a alv grid control. For that i need probably a event. But i can not find a proper event in the documentation. Could one of you guys help me?
Best regards christianHi Christian
ALV grid is an encapsulated object, so it seems there is no way, you ought to implement the data_changed event. So if you want to make bulk data input and after trigger the event by pressing the return key, you should make the ALV Grid get your changes after pressing the key but not after a cell change of a modified cell.
To set this attribute:
CALL METHOD gr_alvgrid->register_edit_event
EXPORTING i_event_id = cl_gui_alv_grid=>mc_evt_enter .
This way "data_changed" event will be triggered whenever you press the return key while editing.
For some more information you can also refer to the tutorial <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/an%20easy%20reference%20for%20alv%20grid%20control.pdf">"An Easy Reference for ALV Grid Control"</a>.
