Port forward/ Port trigger?????????????

ok.......How do I use them? Triggered Range start port? to end port? Forwarded Range start point? to end point? Would it be the same forwarded ports? do I put the same port # in all for areas? I'm working with WRT54GS ver. 6
I have port forwarded two ports. How do I use the port triggering?

hi , yes you can specify the same Port # all along....will not create any issues....however if you have enabled port forwarding for a particular port....you will not be able to use that same port for port triggering..
let me know what you wanna do.....i'll try n help

I want to set up the VPN service  on remote site but it site have only one public IP available.I  think can I set up the self own Linksys RV042 router in the ISP  provided router LAN port and ask ISP use port forwarding to my Linksys  RV042 router. So I want to know which port is need on using Linksys  QuickVPN to access RV042 VPN client-access. Are there are port 443 and  port 60443?
It  is existing setup on ISP Router
    LAN: 192.168.1.1/24
WAN: only one  public IP provided
    I will set own RV042
    LAN: 172.16.0.1/24
    WAN:  192.168.1.50/24 & gateway 192.168.1.1
& ask ISP set port forwarding on  ISP provided router forward port 443 & 60443 to 192.168.1.50
Is it  possible to provide VPN access to RV042?

    Ive got a WRT54GS v6  - Firmware 1.52.5
Ive run out of port forward slots, Ive tried to use the port triggering but it always says
"port forwarded range is overlapping with other port trigger records"
Ive checked and no ports are overlapping, one person suggested that I try just using the forward slot instead of the trigger slot as well. When I click save changes it says succesful but then when it returns to the port trigger page everything is blank. no changes made.
Everything has worked fine until this, im trying to get EA Games "Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3" to work online but the router is not co-operating very well.

  • Help with Port Triggering

Okay, I have look around for many guide but I can't seem to get the port trigginger to work my Wireless N Router. I have 2 xbox 360s in the house so I'm not able to use port forwarding. I've tried to do port triggering on my own but every guide is to a none verizion type router. Nothing in the guides match the interface I'm giving with. I dont' know what I'm suppose to do. Please, does anyone know how to port trigger for the xbox live with a verizon router?

    Step 2.
Enter your username and password and click 'OK'
If you don't know it you can check our list of default router and modem password list here.
If you have changed it and don't remember it you may have to reset your device to factory default using the reset button on most routers.
    Step 3.
Once logged into your router click on "Firewall Settings"
Set the firewall to 'Minimum Security' to allow Inbound connections.
    Now Click 'Apply'
When the page is done reloading click on 'Port Triggering'

    For 'Source Ports' choose 'Any'
For 'Destination Ports' Choose either 'Range' or 'Single' then enter the ports to be used as the trigger.
    Example: 2100 or 2100 - 2105
    Click 'Apply'
    Step 7.
For 'Incoming Ports to Open' click on 'New Opened Ports'
    Step 8.
For 'Protocol' choose your protocol, normally TCP or UDP.
    For 'Source Ports' choose 'Any'

If you have more ports to add repeat steps 7 & 8.
Once all ports have been added give the service a name.
For 'Service Name' give your entry a unique name.
    Now click 'Apply'
    All done!

  • Redirect Port 80

I know this is a very basic question but how do you redirect port 80?  I have an option to port forward or port trigger.
What I am trying to do is use a program called Remote Administrator.  It works locally on my network but as soon as I try to connect from outside the network it fails.  I suspect port 80 is the issue and no matter what I do it still comes up as stealth on the GRC site.  So, I port forwarded 80 (both TCP & UDP) to my local ip address that I want to connect to and no go.
Am I missing some hidden place in the router config that has redirect...
    Thanks in advance

I agree with you but someone mislead me to believe that port 80 was the problem.  I have port forwarded 4899 to my internal IP and it still does not connect.  I have tried using a no-ip program called canyouseemee to verify if the port is open but it appears to be closed.  I can connect locally but not over the internet so I assume it's a router/firewall issue.
    Any ideas?

  • Canon 7D, 430EX II, and cheap wireless trigger

    Hey Folks,
I'm trying to set up two flashes off camera and I'm running into a strange problem. I'm controlling the 430ex via the wireless and driving the external wireless trigger via the sync port. Things work fine for a while, but after a while the sync port trigger stops triggering. The 430 continues to fire. If I close the on-board flash, the sync port starts working again. Popping it back up causes it to stop again. It continues this way until I power cycle the camera at which point it starts working again.
Has anyone seen anything like this?
I really like being able to control the 430 via wireless, but I've got the light balanced for two flashes, not one.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi mcmurdie!
    Thanks for posting.
Multiple flash firing methods cannot be used at the same time.  If you have something connected to the PC Terminal, it will not work when the built-in flash is used or when a flash is attached to the hotshoe.  Only one can be used at a time.

  • Catching a forwarded work item in workflow.

We have a workflow with an escalation loop.  An e-mail is sent every 5 days until a work item is finally completed.  However if that work item is forwarded, the original owner is still notified.
Is it possible to catch that a work item was forwarded and trigger a modification of the container so the forwarded approvers are notified?

    Hi
Assuming that email is sent from the Escalation Outcome of the Decision Item, here is what you need to do to get the work item of the Escalated Item.
Create a container element f=to hold that Workitem.
From the decision step to the workflow binding pass the workitem (you will have a workitem object in the step / task container, expand that and get the ID) -> Pass  to that local variable of the workflow
In the escalation branch, create an activity step, pass this workitem to a method
In the method, call SAP_WAPI_GET_WI_AGENTS, pass them back to workflow (APPEND to the existing notification agent list).

  • Accessing Storage from another network - NAS?

Ok. Noob question here. My friend and I run a small design business. Luckily, business is good and our client list is growing out of control. We have a lot of big photoshop files, 3D models, etc. for hundreds of clients. Since most of the people who work for us work remotely (like in other states even) dropbox has been a huge help for collaborating and sharing files. But now, we are out of space.
Down to the point. We are looking for a way to access external hard drive space from any network. I don't know anything about NAS, but we do have an old G4 tower that we could utilize. I've looked into a product called pogoplug biz and that seems good except that you have to go through the web service to get files remotely. We'd like to be able to access those drives via finder when on a different network.
heres a breakdown of what we need.
    Remote access (different networks)
    multiple users
    secure access (password, login)
    2TB + storage
    secure backup
If anyone has any advice - even if its just pointing me to an article of how to get started it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What type of internet connection do you have?
If it is not business class (ie, dynamic cable modem) look into dynamic dns, and a router that supports it.
You can then set up an FTP share on your G4. System Preferences >Sharing>File Sharing>options
You should then setup the G4 with a static IP locally, and have the router forward FTP requests to it via port trigger/port forwarding. Using a non-standard port is advisable for FTP.
You should then be able to access the share using ⌘-K, type in ftp://yourshares_ipaddress:portnumber and it should mount as a disk.
    Good luck!

  • IChat screen sharing and video not working on MacBook but works on Mac pro

I have a MacBook and MacBook pro. Both have the lion os 10.7.2. I can use iChat on the MacBook pro for screen sharing, video chat, and text chatting, with others remote to me. However, I can only do texting with the MacBook.  I can do screen sharing via Finder between my MacBook and MacBook pro. I can do FaceTime between both systems. I can also do FaceTime between the MacBook and anyone remotely.
I also tried installing teamviewer on the MacBook, and on a remote MacBook..... And I get the same results where I cannot share the screen, from the one that has not been working.
I have checked the settings under system preference and made sure screen sharing was enabled. I have checked under iChat under video to make sure screen sharing was checked.
The macbook that is having this problem is configured for AIM for iChat
I have run out of ideas. Any suggestions on what I might try?
    Thanks

    Ok,
I will list the ports in greater detail and point out when iChat uses them.
AIM Login and 1-1 Text Chatting
iChat version 1  through 5 will Log in to the AIM server on port 5190 (TCP Protocol) by default.
Since iChat 2 we have been posting here that the AIM servers allow a Login on almost any port and have been suggesting port 443.
This is used by both Web Browsers for secure Login to some sites and by the Mail app with some mail servers.
It is also below port 1024  (most domestic routers have the ports above this figure closed)  In some campus situations using port 443 will normally allow at least Login and Text chatting.
iChat 6 uses port 443 by default.
    File Transfers (AIM)
When doing File Transfers with AIM Buddies iChat will move to using Port 5190 on the UDP Protocol.
This cannot be changed.  (This invokes the little Message about Starting Direct IM in an open Chat)
It also uses this port for Pics-in-chats, dropping Files on a Buddy's name with out a Chat or sending other files that are not pics.
In the case of Port Forwarding some devices don't like port 5190 being forwarded "twice" which is another reason for moving the login and Text chat port.
    Jabber Logins
No matter what Jabber server you use ichat will use one of two ports (5222 and 5223)
Which one it uses is dependent on whether it needs and is using an SSL Login or not.
SSL Logins use port 5223 and NON SSL one use 5222 (ticking or Unticking the SSL box on a Jabber account will automatically change the port).
Google Talk is the exception in that it allow a Login on port 443 as well.
The First Apple Doc I linked you to says iChat uses port 5220 in Jabber.
I run Little Snitch and have never seen any version of iChat use this port at any time.
    Bonjour
Any Mac to Mac Connection or Mac to any Bonjour able peripheral will be on port 5353.
This is normally opened (Preset) in the Mac Firewall for the Finder/System side of Sharing.
iChat needs and uses two other ports  (5297 UDP and 5298 on both TCP and UDP)
As they an LAN Side connections the router would normally pass them.
At iChat 3 there were issues with the Mac Firewall (it included UDP set up and the preset in the firewall only listed them and TCP so we had people add all the iChat ports  (you had to manually enter them in Tiger)
    A/V Chats
No matter which Buddy List you start from iChat will do A/V chats the same way.
The Visible Invite you or your Buddy sends is on port 5678 (UDP)
In iChat 3 and earlier iChat then moves to port 5060 to send the SIP Connection Process invite behind the scenes  (SIP = Session Initiation Protocol)
Port 5060 is one of 4 ports internationally agreed for SIP (How VoIP phones connect) (5060-5063).
Although ISPs were not supposed to block Through traffic many started blocking End users  and then Charging them to open these ports (Many ISP were telecom companies that were losing long distant Telephone calls monies).
The SIP process then in iChat 3 contacts a server run by Apple for this purpose (Snatmap.mac.com to give it it's full name).
This acts like a old fashioned telephone operator connecting the call.
SIP is a text based process.
    Your end "Calls" the operator.
    The Operator "Calls" Buddy.
    Buddy Accepts
iChat then negotiates the ports to be used.
In iChat 2 and 3 it uses 4 ports (vid in Vid out, Audio In and Audio Out) from "the group of 20" starting at the bottom (16384 to 16387 normally)
Three and 4 way chats uses more ports (which is why 20 are set aside)
In iChat 4 Apple realised the issue with the 5060 port and changed the way iChat worked
Since then it has Sent the invite on Port 5678 but then moved to port 16402 (it starts at the top of a smaller group of 20)
All Video and Audio traffic is also now on one port  (so no need for 20 ports and iChat now lists 10).
    NOTES so Far.
File Sharing during a Chat converts the Chat to Direct IM for AIM Logins
    This is Peer-to-Peer in AIM
A/V Chats are Peer-To-Peer and you can actually log out of the Buddy list and continue the chat. (The exception is using iChat 6's  AIM Video relay option)
    Screen Sharing
Screen Sharing is an Audio Chat with a VNC connection along side.
Both bits have to wok to avoid the Pop-up to send to Apple and the Log that contains.
The Audio part is on port 16402 and the VNC part is random. (So random it is different every time you do it)
The reason it is classed as an Audio Chat+ is so the AppleScript for Auto Accept can  filter out Screen Sharing connection and Not Auto Accept them.
This does have a knock on effect as far as your Router is concerned as already mentioned earlier.
You cannot Forward or Trigger the random Port so you have to use UPnP in your router to open the ports.
    NOTES
Jabber File sharing may possibly be on port 1080 as listed in the Server Article I linked you to (I have also seen it written about in other stuff I have come across)
However Little Snitch does not seem to confirm this either.
Most time it will be peer-to-peer like the AIM connections for this.
However some Jabber servers do not seem to allow this and have this Jabber65 Proxy set up which passes things Server to Server in between it leaving your end and arriving at a Buddy.
This on  Port 7777 but you do not need to open this port (unless you are running a Jabber server)
I have yet to test File Transfers using a Yahoo Buddy List in iChat 6.
    AppleCare and Geniuses.
Previously I have been contacted by Geniuses in Stores asking to test customer's iChat.
They and the Applecare people have details about Apple wants an designed the App to work.
What they don't have is the knowledge about what it takes to set it up in the "real world".
There are literally thousands of Makes and Models of routers.
Some like the Thomson-Alcatel brand state they are SIP/VoIP ready but this means the router strips out all SIP Data trying to send it to a Phone.
Early models of Alcatels can get around this with a tweak. Later models can't.
Motorola devices tend not to have UPnP.
Apple Base Stations have Port Mapping Protocol instead of UPnP and this needs setting up.
The Zyxel range definitely does not like the dual use of port 5190 and does much better using UPnP (You almost certainly have to do your AIM login on port 443 with these).
    1. I have two computers (MacPro and MacBook Pro) that are both running Lion 10.7.2 and both running iChat 6.0.1.  <<-- Fine
    2. The Netgear router model is: WNDR3700.    <<<<---  With any Brand there are exceptions and I do wonder about this one
    3. The firewall for both Macs is turned on and in the advanced area iChat is listed as being "allowed."  <<<<---- Fine
    4. In iChat, under the video options, "Screen Sharing Allowed" is checked.                                        <<<<<---- Fine
    5. In System Preferences, "Screen Sharing" is checked and this is for "All Users" at present.               <<<<<---- Not Required
    6. There are two separate AIM accounts being used for iChat purposes.                                            <<<<<----  OK
    7. In iChat preferences, each AIM account is "Enabled" under "Account Information" and the "Server Settings" show the Server as "api.oscar.aol.com" and the Port is "443" and "Use SSL" is checked.                                <<<<---- As it should be
From this and the other info in the first port it was only the router set up that seem to throw some light on a possible cause (Port Forwarding and UPnP conflict)
If just doing Port Forwarding the ports listed would have covered things (Except the Screen Sharing's random port)
    Regarding your latest post.
I have  table similar to that on my Sagem 2504Fast Modem/router combined device and it too seems to list a different port on the external side on occasions.
I would try the router with the Disable SIP ALG unticked (so it is not disabled). If the Help info on the right gives any info about what this Netgear version does it would be helpful.
Some are like the Thomson-Alcatels I was talking about in that it points the SIP data to a specific place (Possibly a Phone socket on the device)
Others seem to provide an "boost"  to enable SIP to work and don't seem to get in the way of iChat.
Try adding the Names in Table 1 from this page and see if you can Video to those.
There are 6 names in total (I am actually only seeing one on Line as I type)

  • RV016 with 3 WAN Connections - Windows Messenger Intermittent problems.

I have a RV016 Router with 3 internet DSL conections.
    Firmware version : 3.0.0.1-tm (Jun 6 2008 20:17:06)
    LAN IP :  192.168.11.254  /24
    WAN1 IP :  192.168.1.253  /24
    WAN2 IP :  192.168.2.253  /24
    WAN3 IP : 192.168.3.253   /24
    MODE: Gateway.
Windows Messenger continually connects and disconnects. This behavior is permanent
I only have problems with Messengers (all releases), web page access is correct.
I check bandwith saturation and It's ok, I use less than 50% of each DSL.
I configured the correct size of MTU for each DSL and the problem continues.
Is there any way to set priority to this service?
Is there any way to check if the "load balance mode" affect this kind of connections?
    I appreciate any idea.

Changing the DSL connections to bridge mode is part one of the solution.  When they weren't in bridge mode, they were also acting as gateways/routers, probably also doing NAT.
Now that they are in bridge mode, the rv016 has control of the connections and the routing.  Now that it has control, you can make the appropriate changes.
I ran into a similar issue as yours when I had an rv082 at one of my businesses.  I had to access the state's web site to file sales taxes online.  But their system detected when my router used a different WAN connection than the one I logged in on, so it would kick me off each time the router used both WAN connections.  I could enable only one WAN connection each time I used their system (which would also work in your case with messenger), but that wasn't a real solution.
For you the solution will be a port trigger range.  (For me the solution was to bind that destination site to a WAN connection.)  Go to Setup-->Forwarding in the rv016 web management.  You will see a section for port triggering at the bottom.  Here's a link to a site that goes more into detail on the ports that need to have triggers on them:
    http://www.electrictoolbox.com/article/networking/open-firewall-msn-icq/
I don't have messenger setup, so I don't know the ports off-hand. This setup should allow any system connected (just as they are now) to properly use messenger.
Let me know if you need any more help.

  • Call of Duty 3 connection problem

Ever since i got my xbox 360 i have never really been able to connect to many Call of Duty 3 servers. my router, WRT54G v3, is on the on the compatible router list on xbox.com, but for some reason i can connect to the CoD3 servers.
i've tried many guides on the internet, but none of them work. the guides say that its my NAT status thats the problem, but even when i have my NAT open, i still couldn't connect to servers properly. i've tried static ip on my xbox, dmz, UPnP, and port-forwarding but nothing seems to work. please help me.

To port trigger as great_white instructed, open up the router user-interface (do this by opening up internet explorer and typing on the address bar 192.168.1.1 - password is admin) Go the Applications and Gaming...

  • IChat AV - can't connect

Can't seem to connect via iChat. When I send an invite, they accept on the other end but I do not see them on my end.

    Hi Stephen,
This is done in the set up pages for each device that you have.
Your router (and most DSL modems) have web page servers in them and several pages that let you change the settings.
You access them by typing in an IP address into the web pages adress field on your web browser. You may be asked for a User ID and a Password. (these should be at the default settings if you have never done this before)
The default settings for many devices can be found here. If your device is listed then click on it.
Click iChat on the next page. The defaults about how to access the device should be at the top.
    AT THIS POINT STOP !!
Now the access data on this sitye is OK but the ports for Port Forwarding are "Wrong".
If you only have the choice to Port Forward then use these ports
As every device manufacturer places each setting in a different part of their menu structure it is hard to say where you might find UPnP itself.
D-Links tend to have it as a separate "button" at the bottom of their Options.
Linksys tend to have it in the "Administration" tab (whilst Games and Applications is for Port Forwarding and Port Trigger).
Thomson Alcatel's is in the the NAPT sub menu of the Advanced menu, and then the 4th tab over in Version 4.x.x firmware.
I am sure other people may chip in with the placement on other devices.
My revamp of my page 4 may also help

  • [HELP!!]After Firmware upgrading, **bleep**! So how can I turn off the WRT54G Firewall? Thanks!!

One program was using fine when using previous firmware and now facing firewall problem after upgrading.
Can anybody help me to turn off the firewall?
    THanks a lot!

Hi… Well I think both the firmware’s does have a firewall and disabling this altogether may not be the best solution for the problems you are facing. Please give the exact details of the issue. Also just to mention, after upgrading the firmware, reset the router and reconfigure it. If you need to open the ports on that firewall, you can go to gaming and application tab either forward or trigger the ports as per you requirements.

Does anyone know how to set up SSH on a WRT54GS v4 router running Linksys OS 1.06 ? I want to be able to make a secure remote desktop session using SSH (Putty) over the internet.
    Thanks!!

Hi, SSH and telnet work on port 23 . By default this port is blocked on the router due to understandable security issues...
In order to get SSH running through the router, you need to forward or trigger port 23.
