Port Forwarding for Cisco camera WVC80N and AirPort Extreme

I have set up my camera to the Apple AirPort Extreme on a Windows 8 computer, but now get an error saying, "The setup wizard cannot set up TZO DDNS with your network for remote viewing." After clicking on the Learn How to Remotely View my Camera, it suggests I need to get Port Fowarding for my router" And iot suggests my router password is incorrect which it is not. Any help for a BEGINNER would be appreciated. I cannot find the IP address for the camera or my computer either.
Cisco support is NO help at all. ANY help would be appreciated. PLEASE MAKE IT SIMPLE. I can set it up on my MAC desktop also if that is better. Thanks so much

you should set the port number that the camera uses to something other than port 80. You'd then use AirPort Utility (the "Advanced" panel, "Port Mapping" tab) to map that TCP port and the camera's "private IP address" to a public TCP port. (I'm not sure what to use for "Service". You might try "Personal Web Sharing". It may also not matter once you chance the port number.) You'll need to know the WAN ("public") IP address of your AirPort Extreme. With that done you should be able to view the camera at that WAN IP address and the declared public port.

I beleive I need to forward some ports to the asa to use the IPsec VPN I just setup. I had the SSL VPN working but only needed to forward 443 for that....I assume that IPsec tunnel is a specific port.

For IPSec VPN, you need to port forward UDP/500 and UDP/4500, and remember to enable NAT-T on the ASA.
Command to enable NAT-T on ASA:
crypto isakmp nat-traversal 30

Port Forwarding (for IP Camera)

I have so far been unsuccessful in in setting up my new ip camera for remote monitoring.
I have followed all instructions within the "bt homehub" domain for port forwarding in application sharing but when I check that the port (80) is open (using pfportckecker.exe) it returns "unable to ping your router" and "port is not open or available".
Can anyone help please - I am becoming very frustrated !

For "Unknown-7c-dd-90-05-5e-df" the bit in bold should be the MAC address of your camera. It is normally printed on the device somewhere.
You can rename this if you wish, by editing the name to something more appropriate.
You should have a created a custom rule called mikes-camera, which with:-
Protocol TCP
Start port 8080
End port 8080
Mapped to 8080
Leave the rest blank.
You should be able to assign this to the device.
A lot depends on which version of the home hub you are using.
What I have found by experience, is that it is better to use a static IP address, if your device supports it, as DHCP can be a bit unreliable when port mapping is involved.
You can use a static address outside of the DHCP range. Like 192.168.1.50.
You can still forward ports to it, by selecting the device by its IP address, not its name.
If you can view your camera within your own network, using http://192.168.1.69:8080 then you just need to persevere with the port mapping.

Port Forwarding For Network Cameras On Infinity

Basically if you have network cameras and want to access them remotely with BT Infinity, get rid of your BT Home Hub 3!
Whatever configuration they have inside for their infinity setup, the ports you open for your cameras will never be accessible. I was aware of this before the installation from reading about it online but these were old posts and hoped this problem may have been resolved by now.
Anyway sure enough once the installation was complete I setup the ports for access to my cameras and found them to be inaccessible. BT checked and confirmed I had configured the hub correctly but said there was nothing wrong with the equipment and it must be the line. Mean time I connected and setup my own router and sure enough the ports were accessible immediately which confirmed it was their hub/router and not the line. I told BT and they decided to send out another hub which in my mind I already knew wouldn't work (and it didn't). When I told them, the only answer their technical people could give me was to come on here and ask cause they were unable to comment on my findings and they could be of no further help with the issue. So save yourself the hassle of waiting for replacement routers and use your own. Doesn't need to be expensive, just a stand alone router and plug it into your BT Openreach modem and set your router's PPPOE user to: [email protected] and leave the password blank and you're done, the one I'm using cost me £29 a year ago and works a treat, no drop in speed and can now access all cameras remotely as before with ADSL.

The default DHCP table on the home hub only supports 192 or 172, but you do have the option to create a range that is suited for you.

Cisco ASA 5505 and Airport Extreme

We have an office that uses an Airport Extreme as part of the network. The Airport Extreme uses a Cisco ASA 5505 as its gateway. The Cisco provides site to site VPN capabilities with other remote offices. We just got this configuration partially working and it works great for outbound connections.
But I have been unable to get an inbound connection to machines that are behind the Airport Extreme.
The goal is to access machines behind the Airport Extreme by way of RDP and also for use as drive and printer shares.
What do I need to do on the Airport to achieve this goal?

I suspect it's not the AX that's the problem but the Cisco router, no doubt you have NAT enabled on that so that any inbound connection not initiated from inside just get's blocked.
You'll need to configure NAT on the Cisco first.

I have a Cisco RV220W that I am trying to set up to view the store security cameras remotely. I can view the cameras when connected to the LAN but not with a WAN connection. The Video recorder is an ADT system.

I have looked into the RTSP standard, and it looks like the default ports are 554 for TCP and UDP. Since it looks like your cameras are using a different port, you may want to try creating a custom service for 8016 externally, since the default rule is currently translating 554 to 8016. Of course you can also try connecting to the cameras with the public IP and port number 554, that should work with your current setup.
However if you are unable to change the port your client software uses, definitely try creating a custom service for 8016. You may also want to double check that the camera has the RV set as it's default gateway.

Port Forwarding for Minecraft - Port not recognized as open

I am trying to set up Port Forwarding to host a Minecraft server on a local machine. I am able to connect to Minecraft from within the network, but when I try to use my external IP, it fails. I have port forwarding (supposedly) set up on my Airport Extreme base station, for TCP/UDP port 25565. When I check on canyouseeme.com , it says that the port is not open. Do I have some configuration wrong in Airport Utility? I'm pretty sure it's not something wrong with my Ubuntu box (the one hosting the server) because I am able to connect to it without any problem using it's Internal IP.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am having this same problem. My AirPort Utility is v6.2. I have followed a tutorial labeled for v6. I cannot open my ports.
I have a static IP address with the following:
Router Mode: DHCP and NAT
I increased the DHCP Range so it would include the static IP address I selected.
DHCP Reservations
Description: Minecraft
Reserve Address By: MAC Address and entered my MAC address
IPv4 Address: the static IP address that I created in System Preferences- Network
Port Settings
Description: Minecraft
Public UDP Ports: 25565
Public TCP Ports: 25565
Private IP Address: same as above which is the same as the statis IP address
Private UDP Ports: 25565
Private TCP Ports: 25565
I also checked with Comcast, my internet provider, to make sure they were not blocking port 25565. The person on the chat said that that port was open.
I have been using yougetsignal.com to check if my ports are open and so far nothing.

I am currently on Mac OS X 10.7.5. My ISP is verizon FIOS and I have an Actiontec MI424WR router with the wireless turned off. I have an AirPort Extreme running from the actiontec router for my wireless network. First of all I need to know if I should plug the Foscam into the actiontec router or the Airport Extreme? Then I need to know if I should set up the port forwarding on the Actiontec or the Airport Extreme. Lastly I need detailed instructions on how to set up the port forwarding. Has anybody any solutions on setting up the HH5 for Windows Homeserver 2011
I've inputted all the rules manually as WHS couldn't complete the task, to find ports 80, 443, 4125 remain closed after manual input.
WHS reply's with UPnP not working / router not working.
BT customer services quite appalling and I'm not paying for Tech Support as the package is only 6 months old and I feel I shouldn't have to pay for a product that isn't working correctly, if it was over 12 months I understand I should pay.
I've manually inputted and setup port forwarding for my Iphone app and Android and they've finally started working.

Power backup for dsl modem and Airport Extreme

Does anyone here have backup power for a dsl modem and Airport Extreme that is successful? I have a name brand power backup and when the power goes off both the dsl modem and Airport Extreme remain on; however, the network connection is lost so the fact that they remain on doesn't help. I have been unable to find anything about this problem on the internet generally and consultation with a well-known squad person has not helped. Any thoughts about this will be welcome.

Yes, I agree. But since the backup power keeps the modem powered, why doesn't the dsl connection continue? The squad person I talked with told me that the speed with which the backup power units replace power during an outage is about the same across different backup brands/units (I don't recall the speed but it was in milliseconds) and should be quick enough to retain the dsl connection. Doesn't happen.

Change to a static IPv4 address and lost IPv6 - SMC D3G and Airport Extreme

I hope someone can help sort out my IPv6 problem. We have a business Internet account with the SMC D3G-CCR gateway and Apple Airport Extreme (the new tall model). While using dynamic addresses and letting the SMC gateway handle DHCP (Airport Extreme in bridge mode) my IPv6 tests all worked (outbound requests worked - I never tried any incoming access to servers). The test site at http://test-ipv6.com said all was good and I could ping6 ipv6.google.com from any inside computer. Due to a new client project requirements, I got a static IP address today. Comcast reconfigured the SMC gateway and I set up the Airport Extreme to handle internal routing and DHCP and port forwarding for a camera and SSH services. All of that IPv4 stuff seems to be working properly. Unfortunately, I can't find a combination of settings that will give me access to outside IPv6 servers anymore. I was hoping to start testing a small Raspberry Pi server using inbound IPv6, but now I can't seem to get anything going with IPv6. The SMC box does have a setting that appears to block incoming IPv6 requests. But I assumed that would be disabled with the static IP configuration. Either way, it shouldn't block my outbound requests so something else must be wrong. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Do I need Comcast to change something else? Do I need a different gateway device?

First, I am assuming that you are trying to administer your AirPort base station for a static IP address using the iOS version of the AirPort Utility ... correct?
If so, then to do so:
Start the AirPort Utility app on the iPad
Select your base station.
Select Edit
Select Internet Connection
Select Static
Enter the appropriate IP address information
Select Done
Sorry, it does not appear that direct input for DNS IP addresses is an available option with this version of the iOS AirPort Utility app. Not sure why this was not included.

I have the new Air Port Extreeme model A1521 and I need to set up port forwarding for HTTP. HTTP is not on the list in the set up. Does anyone know if any of those choices work for HTTP?

I am on a Windows 7 Ultimate PC and right now there is no Airport utility for setting up the new Apple Extreme so you have to do it on your iPad or iPhone. Does anyone know how to set up port forwarding for HTTP to get to DVR security cameras? There is nothing in the list that indicates HTTP port forwarding.

Thanks for your reply Tesserax as I did figure this out on my own. It took a bit because all of the options are not clear what they are for like the previous Airport Extreme and Apple does not support or guarantee that port forwarding will work for you application nor did any of the Apple support persons I spoke too have any knowledge for this feature. You also have to fill in the public if you are viewing through someone else's Wi-Fi or on your cell phone carrier network. This new Airport Extreme is a bit different since you cannot use the Airport utility on a PC like the older model and if anyone else is reading this they should be aware that if you do not have an Apple computer, iPhone or iPad and I'm not sure if some of the other network enabled devices like iPod Touch that you must use that can do it, there is no Airport utility for the PC and you would be wasting your money or have to take it back and get another brand wireless router to use if you do not own any of the above mentioned Apple products.

Since I use the AirPort in bridge mode, and the Mac is forwarding the connection - how do I forward the port so Air Video can send through to the internet?

Port forwarding for LaCie NAS on AirPort Express

I have just purchased both an AirPort Express and Airport Extreme to which I would like to connect a LaCie 5big NAS Pro. The NAS is physically connected to the AirPort Express, which is acting as a bridge to the AirPort Extreme. The issue is that all the ports which the NAS uses for various sharing services (SFTP, HTTPS, MyNAS, etc) are unavailable. How would I go upon opening these ports on the AirPort network, or go upon forwarding new ports to the local ones?

This is pedantic but can you change the variable name.. eg.

I know will fail in most routers.. the space being illegal.. I know apple have this strange naming convention.. but it just gives me the heabie jeabies when I see it. You can call it HHTTPS for example .. anything but no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
BTW you never need block out a private IP address.. it is not routable.. I can tell you my computer is here.

There is no game or service assigned to this device.
There is absolutely no way you can connect to 192.168.2.103 or 10.0.1.101 or whatever private IP is.
When hovering over the red buttons, it reads "Port # is already in use on your router, or your router is not compatible with the UPnP-IGD/NAT-PMP protocol"
Your last few lines are the most distressing..
Lacie being a more Mac orientated product has included NAT-PMP protocol in the NAS to open the required ports.. automatically in an apple router.. that means it should be able to work without intervention.
Ports cannot be opened if they are already allocated. which is what the error message means.. already in use.. they are in use because you allocated them..
I suggest you reset to factory the AE.. start up a single computer.. leave everything else off.. Do a basic setup of the AE just to get you network and internet access.. Then power up the NAS .. and see if it can open those ports automagically.. If not then the AE is simply not going to work at this firmware level.
BTW.. there is no doubt the 6.3.1 utility on Mac is problematic.. Apparently the iOS one is much better.. or even 5.6.1 utility on a windows PC. If you have an iphone/ipad use the airport utility app and do the setup from there.. rather than a mac.. it has more chances of working.. maybe.
You have an express.. this sounds odd but please change the firmware in the express back to 7.6.1 (I don't use express so I know less about them). Set it up as router in place of the extreme.. and try the NAS again.. you might need to buy a switch to do all this. But it should work if you do it via the iOS device.. well worth a try too and see if the earlier firmware can auto allocate ports via the NAT-PMP or even if that fails by manually allocating them.
Or the other choice is a non apple router for now.. and put the Extreme in bridge .. ie take away all NAT responsibility from it .. use your non-apple router firstly try by upnp and then manually forward the ports if you have to..
