Port Forwarding for Minecraft - Port not recognized as open

I am trying to set up Port Forwarding to host a Minecraft server on a local machine. I am able to connect to Minecraft from within the network, but when I try to use my external IP, it fails. I have port forwarding (supposedly) set up on my Airport Extreme base station, for TCP/UDP port 25565. When I check on canyouseeme.com , it says that the port is not open. Do I have some configuration wrong in Airport Utility? I'm pretty sure it's not something wrong with my Ubuntu box (the one hosting the server) because I am able to connect to it without any problem using it's Internal IP.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am having this same problem.  My AirPort Utility is v6.2.  I have followed a tutorial labeled for v6.  I cannot open my ports.
I have a static IP address with the following:
Router Mode: DHCP and NAT
I increased the DHCP Range so it would include the static IP address I selected.
DHCP Reservations
Description: Minecraft
Reserve Address By: MAC Address and entered my MAC address
IPv4 Address: the static IP address that I created in System Preferences- Network
Port Settings
Description: Minecraft
Public UDP Ports: 25565
Public TCP Ports: 25565
Private IP Address: same as above which is the same as the statis IP address
Private UDP Ports: 25565
Private TCP Ports: 25565
I also checked with Comcast, my internet provider, to make sure they were not blocking port 25565.  The person on the chat said that that port was open.
I have been using yougetsignal.com to check if my ports are open and so far nothing.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Pages for iPad is not recognizing the password I assigned to a document.  I included a hint, and I know I am entering the password associated with the hint.  Is there anything I can do to access my document?  i quite the Pages app and restarted it.  Now I guess I'll reset the iPad and see if that helps.   Thanks!

Interesting that one does not need the password to delete using Finder.
The Pages password protects the contents of the document.  If there were a Finder password, it would protect what you might think of as the "file wrapper" ... the stuff around the file content.
Glad it's not vital.  I have to say I only pasword protect those Pages documents that are, in fact, vital.
    Best of luck.

  • Usb port not recognizing external drive

When I plug my external backup drive, Lacie, into either USB ports on my MacBook Pro, it is not recognizing the drive. Not sure if I powered down incorrectly. It use to recognize it. Help.

Start by looking for the drive in the Apple System Profiler (from the Apple menu's far left Apple logo>About This Mac>More Info>Hardware (in left column) >USB.) If the drive is correctly powered and connected, it will show up here.
If it doesn't show up, the problem is with the drive. With the drive plugged in, put your ear to the drive and listen for the whirring sound the drive makes when it is powered up. If it isn't making any sound, ot's either a bad drive or a bad power supply.
If the drive is making sound , then the problem is probably the USB cable or your USB port. Try a different USB cable. This should fix the problem; if all the above tests were good and the drive still doesn't mount, it may be the USB controller in the Mac. That's a serious problem that requires repair or installation of an aftermarket USB controller.
    Hope this helps

  • Help!! Ipod Video usb Port Not recognized !

Could anyone tell me what's going on with my ipod video 30g?
My friend borrowed my ipod for a file copy to his desktop, when I got it back and pluged it in the dock, the computer said: usb can't be recognized.
I am sure that the USB hub of my IBM is perfectly okay. And It is okay for the ipod to play music, photos and videos.
By the way, My friend's External Portable Hard drive also had the same problem after connecting to his desktop.
Have we got the Ipod usb port burned? Is there any way we can fix it?
    Thank You!

It seems that many people are still getting the 'USB Device not Recognized' problem from time to time. Unfortunately there is no easy fix.
Firstly, it's recommended that you make sure every one of your motherboard drivers are completely up-to-date, but you probably already knew that.
In XP, after a USB port isn't used for a long while the USB driver built into the OS sets the OHCI controller to suspend. When you plug a device back in, it can sometimes fail to 'wake up' properly. This problem was supposedly fixed in SP1 but there is a related registry hack that may still be able to help.
    Run regedt32.exe and navigate to;
    HKEYLOCALMachine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Usb
Create the Usb key if it doesn't already exist. Under this key, create a new DWORD value called DisableSelectiveSuspend and give it a value of 1. Then restart the PC.
A long shot perhaps, but I recall having similar problems with a USB hub built into my Microsoft keyboard and adding this key seemed to solve it. It wouldn't hurt in trying .
Alternatively, removing all entries relating to USB in Device Manager and all associated USB drivers will force XP into refreshing the USB driver stack.
    Begin by unplugging all USB devices, then use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall any USB driver software. Next, boot up into safe mode and go to Device Manager. Once in device manager make sure 'Show hidden devices' is checked under the View menu. Uninstall all device entries in this order;
    1. USB peripheral devices (printers etc.)
    2. HID and/or Composite USB (Human Interface Devices) You're using PS/2 input devices so you may not have this entry.
    3. USB Root Hub(s)
    4. USB Host Controller(s) (Universal or Enhanced Host Controllers)
Then boot back into Windows (not safe mode) and it should populate the Root Hubs & Host controllers again. Proceed to plug your USB devices back in, starting with your powered hub. Be aware that most USB printers and scanners need to have their drivers installed first before you plug them in.
Hopefully some of this may be of help, let me know how you get on.

I updated yesterday to OS X Lion 10.7.5 and now my MacBook Pro says my firewire port is not recognized…any ideas??

  • Seem to have multiple apple ids one on computer one on iPod cannot use iTunes because password for old id not recognized cannot update user name for ipod

cannot update username on ipod for itunes
why are they all different. Why don't I have just one id?
    I cannot update apps.
    password for username not recognized
I want one apple id for everything
    one password for everything
I cannot retrieve or reset anything for itunes to update apps

It appears that you have apps on the iPod that wer purchased with more than one iTunes account.  If one from more than one iTunes account need updating, you need to update them one at a time (not update all) until all the remianing apps were purchased from one account.  You may need to change the accont the iPId is signed into by go to Settings>Store and signing out and in.

  • Port Forwarding for Minecraft

I have a BTHomeHub 1, and port forwarding minecraft has been an awful experience which I just can't get to work. I've tried everything, and just cannot get this to do what I want.
this is what I have currently set up. Also, how do I tell what my computer is called on my network? I'm not sure if I'm forwarding to the right one.

You need to go to network devices at http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/devs/cfg/?ce=1&be=1&l0=4&l1=4
Then click Edit which shown on the right of the device interface column.
At the bottom of the page where it says "connection sharing", select the Mcft from the list of applications, then click "apply".
That will assign that application to the device.
You can view all assignments here http://bthomehub.home/cgi/b/games/cfg/?ce=1&be=1&l0=4&l1=5

  • Firewire and USB ports not recognizing devices

All of a sudden, some of our MacBooks don't recognize firewire and usb devices. It's weird, but after about a week, one of the MacBooks suddenly started recognizing a video camera, again, but it's troubling because my users need to be able to import movies and pictures from digital devices.
We ran the updates, and it did not help. We have been using these devices with our MacBooks for over a year, and this happened at the worst possible time. Any ideas?
I've tried both self- and AC-powered devices, rebooted, powered off and on, made sure everything is plugged in, etc.

    Try Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

  • USB/ Firewire Ports not recognized...

My iMac will not recognize my iPod, printer, camera, or anything that is plugged into it. What could be the problem? Thank you so much for your help!!!

    Kristi,
Please tell us what iMac model you have. I think the problem you have on this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=3021123#3021123
Is related to the one you have here. Here is how to identify iMacs:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301724 - G5 & Intel Core Duo (look identical on the outside except when you About This Mac on the Apple menu).
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301724 - G4 (Dome with flat panel on articulating arm)
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58669 - G3 (CRT)
If indeed your Mac is not an Intel Core Duo, in the future find the correct iMac forum to post your questions once we resolve this problem. I understand how each of these iMacs work, but I may not be in this forum all the time.

  • USB ports not recognizing my Memory/USB/Flash drives

My macbook, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 duo (if that even helps), with Leopeord 10.5.5 's USB ports stopped working, but the weird thing is, when I plug in my iPod or mouse, they work. But when I plug in my Flash drive to try to open up some homework or SD card drive, anything that contains memory, it doesn't work, the computer shows that it has been plugged into my macbook through System Profiler, it also shows when it's gone, but the drive doesn't show up on my desktop and I can't find it anywhere. I know the flash drives are working because I tested them on different computers, safely removed them as well. Some people on a different forum suggested PRAM and SMC reset, I've done PRAM, but I don't see how it helps. please help! I need to be able to finish hmwk!!

  • Firewire port not recognized on new MacBook Pro

I've been using time machine to backup my computer to a LaCie external drive and noticed that it hasn't done it for over two weeks. I can hear the drive when it's connected but it doesn't show up on my desktop. I plugged it into my old macbook and it worked fine. I'm using a new adapter made for this model of macbook pro — a firewire 800.
I need to use this computer for work and am hoping there is an upgrade that might fix it. I can't afford the time it will take at a mac store to fix this. Any advice?
    thanks so much

dose the hard drive show up in system profiler or disk utility?
