Port forwarding help please

Hi All,
I am looking to forward my airport extreme base station to port 57331.  No matter what I trying I can't get Playon software working.  It is running through parallels since it is a windows only program that allows netflix to be streamed to a driod phone.  Can someone please provide a step by step process to port forward?  Thank you so much in advance.
Scott

Can someone please provide a step by step process to port forward?
Scott,
The following is the basic steps to configure port mapping/forwarding on the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn):
To setup port mapping on an AEBSn, either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network or temporarily connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to one of the LAN port of the AEBSn, and then use the AirPort Utility, in Manual Setup, to make these settings:
1. Reserve a DHCP-provided IP address for the host device.
o AirPort Utility > Select the AEBSn > Manual Setup > Internet > DHCP tab
o On the DHCP tab, click the "+" (Add) button to enter DHCP Reservations.
o Description: <enter the desired description of the host device>
o Reserve address by: MAC Address
o Click Continue.
o MAC Address: <enter the MAC (what Apple calls Ethernet ID if you are using wired or AirPort ID if wireless) hardware address of the host computer>
o IPv4 Address: <enter the desired IP address>
o Click Done.
2. Setup Port Mapping on the AEBSn.
Advanced > Port Mapping tab
o Click the "+" (Add) button
o Service: <leave at the default setting>
o Public UDP Port(s): 57331
o Public TCP Port(s): 57331
o Private IP Address: <enter the reserved DHCP IP address here>
o Private UDP Port(s): 57331
o Private TCP Port(s): 57331
o Click "Continue"

  • Port Mapping / port forwarding - help please...again...

    Hi,
I am trying to use port forwarding/port mapping but after numerous failures to access my computer from an Internat connection, I am seeking advice or guidance.
I have a 2011 Apple Time Capsule, and under the Advanced tab on Airport utilities, Port mapping I have chosen +
it then comes up with a box in which I have entered the following:
Service - drop down menu (number of options...but have been advised on other threads to leave as is)
    It then has 5 boxes:
    Public UDP port(s)  - 9080
    Public TCP ports(s) - 9080
    Private IP adress    - 10.0.1.x
    Private UDP Port(s)  - 9080
    Private TCP Port(s)   -9080
note I have enabled NAT port mapping protocall. My ISP has advised that I cant use port 80 for some reason...but all others should be ok
note also the 10.0.1.x is a static address i have assigned to teh camera.
I have a dns provider, and when I use the URL on my LAN - I can access the camera....but as soon as I tryu to access via the WAN - it is unable to reach the server.
Other points - the TC is in normal mode (i.e. not Bridge)
Does anyone have any idea if I have set port mapping up correctly; any way i can test, any ideas how i can fix this??
I have tried this on a number of forums thus far - but no success to date.
    Welcome all and any help!!!

    LaPastenague wrote:
Have you reset the camera web page to use 9080?
i have checked again and in teh advances settings of my camera - it asks for HTTP port, HTTPS port, and for Nata Traversal it asks for an alternative HTTP port.   I have entered 9080 against all of these.
The TC is in normal mode ie as a router.. what modem do you have in front of it? Is it in bridge? Does the TC get the public IP or does the modem route the address as well? You will have no success via double NAT.
not sure what brand the modem is - but i can confirm it is set up as a modem only with both the router and wireless functions turned off.
The Modem is not in Bridge mode - neither is my ATC.  The ATC gets the public IP address via the adsl modem.  so double NAT should not be an issue
When you say you can access the camera using URL on lan, is that using the new port 9080? Please give explicitly what address you use.. (you can hide the full public address) and port.. and AFAIK this should NOT work as the TC would have to handle NAT Loopback which would amaze me if it does. According to all the info around the web the TC has no NAT Loopback and therefore should not be able to handle the address. I need to know therefore the exact address you use
this is actually using the url that my dns provider provides to me as i do not have a static ip address.   albeit this appears temperamental as to when it works sometimes from my LAN. after which it requests user name and password and I can then see the live stream.
one problem I have just noted is that when checking teh DNS setup - it still appears to default to port 80 which my isp has advised i can not use) so i am checking with teh dns provider how i change this.
The good news is port mapping must work on my ATC, as I have just set up my slingbox using their automatic port mapping assistant and it seemed to set up with no issues...i have also just confirmed that the stream can be viewed on the internet.

if the ports are not getting forwarded , try upgrading / reflashing the router's firmware ..

  • Cant get port forwarding working, please help :(

I bought an airport extreme yesterday, and since then ive been trying to get port forwarding to work. I've set it up before on other routers, and while its always been a hassle, this is the first time where I might just give up and take the router back. I've been searching the boards for solutions, and ive implemented several of them without success, and a call to apple's tech support got me nowhere. Im sure im just using the wrong number or setting somewhere, but I just cant seem to find it.
One suggestion i read was to set up the routers connection to my modem manually, instead of through dhcp. When I switched from dhcp to manual, i noticed all the prior numbers except dns servers stayed entered, so i wrote down the ones from when it was set for dhcp and typed them in. My manual setup is:
    I.P.: 68.197.191.59
    subnet: 255.255.224.0
    router: 68.197.160.1
    dns: 167.206.245.68
    167.206.245.69
every other setting i left on the default.
    the dhcp range is 10.0.1.2 - 200
One entry recommended a static ip. I originally set one up with the dhcp reservation feature, but then another post said your ip should be outside the dhcp range. Not sure if either method is better, but ive set my system with the following static ip:
    i.p: 10.0.1.201
subnet: 255.255.254.0 (i was unsure what to enter here, so i chose the same as the routers)
    gateway: 10.0.1.1
in port forwarding i made an entry with 60000 for the 4 public/private tcp/udp and an ip of 10.0.1.201 (i have tried many other port numbers in the odd chance that the one i picked at random might have already been in use)
I left every other setting on the defaults. The nat settings (a setting im not familier with) is current set for enabled with the default host box above it empty.
I should mention, my pc is wired to the router. I am using utorrents port checking site, as well as canyouseeme.org. Neither can ever see my port, one simply says not open, the other says connection refused.
I hope someone out there can help me with this, as the router is great with this one exception, and I'd rather not return it.

For starters, it's probably not a bad idea to "factory reset" your device since it sounds like you've had a lot of people giving you different advice. This isn't to say that you've been given *bad advice* but, it may make things easier for a trouble-shooter if you start over from a "known" state.
    That said:
You need to setup manual port mapping. The problem is, when somebody from the outside tries to access your computer, the Aiport (for lack of a better analogy) isn't expecting any visitors; so it turns them away. ---That matches what you are seeing from canyouseeme.org etc...
Your error was when you "made an entry with 60000 for the 4 public/private tcp/udp and an ip of 10.0.1.201" Essentially all that will do is make a mapping for one port. Port "60,000" which to my knowledge, isn't used by anything.
You have to tell the Airport specifically what "outside" ports (each and every one) that you want routed to what "inside" ip address.
    I use:
    Public TCP: 22,80,443,27900,13405
    Public UDP: 123,7777-7783, 13405,6881-6999
    Private IP Address: 10.0.1.201
    Private TCP: 22,80,443,27900,13405
    Private UDP: 123,7777-7783, 13405,6881-6999
This enables: telnet, http, ssh, bittorrent and unreal tournament from the outside and routes ANY AND ALL TRAFFIC from those ports to my PC at 10.0.1.201 on the inside.
If I ran AIM, or ICQ or one of those things, then you need to add the ports that that system uses to the list also.

  • Port Forwarding HELP NEEDED!!!!

I have a HomeHub v2 and I just cannot get the 25565 port open!
I have it opened in the router settings exactly as all the guides say to do it however http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ still says it's closed!!!!!!
Please help, what am I doing wrong???

As well as the suggestion above, you also need to check that the IP address/Device Name that the Port Forwarding is assigned to is available. You should use ping to check this locally first.
Due to the IP address being dynamic (able to change when the DHCP lease expires), it is sometimes easier to set a static IP address on the device you are forwarding to.
Settings->Advanced->Home Network->Click on Device->Always use this IP address. While you are there, check that this device corresponds to the IP address/hostname that you have Port forwarded to.

    Thanks in advance,

It looks like you have assigned your server a fixed (static) LAN IP address of 192.168.1.101  ---  is this correct?    If you are not using a fixed LAN IP address in your server, you probably should be, otherwise, from time to time, your server will get a different address from the DHCP server, and your port forwarding won't work.
If you did setup your server with a fixed LAN IP address of 192.168.1.101, then you are probably using an illegal fixed LAN IP address.  With Linksys routers, fixed LAN IP addresses must be outside the DHCP server range.  (This is different from D-Link routers.)
Rules for using fixed LAN IP addresses on Linksys routers:
With Linksys routers, a fixed (static) LAN IP addresses must be assigned in the device that is using the address. So you need to enter the fixed address in the computer or printer, not in the router.
When using a Linksys router, any fixed LAN IP address must be outside the DHCP server range (typically 192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.149), and it cannot end in 0, 1, or 255.
Therefore any fixed LAN IP address would normally need to be in the range of
    192.168.1.2 thru 192.168.1.99 or
    192.168.1.150 thru 192.168.1.254
assuming you are still using the default DHCP server range.
Also, in the computer, when you set up a static LAN IP address, you would need to set the "Subnet mask" to 255.255.255.0 and the "Default Gateway" to 192.168.1.1
It is also important that no two devices on your network be set to the same static LAN IP address.
Check all of your static LAN IP addresses. If you have violated any of the above rules for static LAN IP addresses, it could be the cause for your problem, and you should fix it before attempting any other router repairs or changes.
Also, are you sure you need to use port 443 ?   Port 443 is usually used for "https" communications.  Is that what you are using it for?

  • Application And Gaming / Port Forwarding || HELP NEEDED || Can Only Access Via LAN

    Hi.
I have just bought a Wireless Router, Model Number: WGKPC354G-UK. With the intention of setting up a small server. This server will run from my PC (directly wired into router), running a game called "Counter Strike" - I had to download a dedicated-server tool for this and i successfuly installed this and followed the tutorial to set it all up..
So I thought i had done it, but I could only access my server with my internal IP 192.168.1.64 (LAN).
I then found out that i needed to "Port-Forward" I followed a tutorial on www.portforward.com - This showed me how to open the ports, and which ones to open.
I did all this and i still encounter the same problem !
So i then opened all my router ports "DNZ" and it still doesnt work !!!
Any help will be greatly aprreciated !
PS. Below Are The Required Ports.
    http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WAG354G/Counter_Strike.htm

Keep in mind your ISP could be blocking the ports needed. DMZ almost ALWAYS works and if it doesnt, most likely your ISP blocks the ports.
another test is to make sure you can connect to the game server from another CS machine on the inside of your network. If this works, that means your server is up and running properly and its probably your ISP blocking certain ports needed for the CS Server.
You should also check you have the Windows firewall disabled, and any other software firewall on your server disabled.

  • FritzBox Port Forwarding Help???

Does anyone out there have any experience with port forwarding
and the Fritzbox model 7170 or 7040? I am Having porblems with
an iChat account and it is possible that the culprit is the
    Fritz Box.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
I have a FritzBox 7170 that I've used with port forwarding, I'll try to be as specific as possible. Before you do this, you need to assign your computer a static IP address, if you don't have one yet. (See here if you don't know how to do this, scroll a little for the Mac OS X section: http://corz.org/comms/hardware/router/static.ip.address.php)
    1. Open a browser page (Safari, Firefox, whatever) and access your FritzBox. Usually with the address fritz.box or with an IP address that you find in the documentation.
    2. Make sure you have the "expert settings" on. Go to the menu "Ansicht" and there choose "Experteneinstellungen anzeigen". Confirm this by pressing the button "Übernehmen".
    3. Go to the settings menu- "Einstellungen"
    4. Click on "internet". You'll see several sub-menus, including "port forwarding" ("Portfreigabe").
    5. Click on "new port" ("neue Portfreigabe").
    6. Youl'll see a pull-down menu, choose "Other applications" (Andere Anwendungen"). Write your own IP address in the field below.
    7. Write "iChat" under "description" (Bezeichnung) and then choose your preferred protocol, add the port number you want to reserve for iChat in "from" and "to", your IP address should have been automatically added and then write port number again under "an Port". Confirm by clicking on "Übernehmen".
That should be it. You probably had tried already, but hadn't seen the options because you hadn't turned on the expert settings option. The same happened to me I hope this helped.

  • WRT320N. Port forwarding help. Xbox and ps3 playing at same time. NAT issues

    Hi
I'm trying to have both my xbox and ps3 play with open NAT's for online gaming. I have had success utilizing info from 'portforward.com'. But the solutions will unlock OPEN NAT for either the ps3 or the xbox .. one at a time. Is there a way to get both to be open?
It seems like one main conflict is the success depends on both utilizing port 3074. But I can't have both use it? ( obviously).
I tried port forwarding the xbox per specs off of this forum and that works great.. And DMZ ing the PS3. But like i said before. Most solutions
leave one console with OPEN and one with Moderate.
Is there a solution that allows both NAT OPEN's on both consoles?

First of all XBOX works on a different port number and PS3 works on a different port numbers. Follow the steps below to open the ports on your router for XBOX and PS3.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
This settings are for your XBOX.
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...
Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box, click Save Settings once done...
    2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
3)Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...
    4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox...
    6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
    7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...
For PS3 Follow the steps below
Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...
Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 80 and End box type in 80, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    2) On the second line in Application box type in DEF, in the start box type in 443 and End box type in 443, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    3) On the third line in Application box type in GHI, in the start box type in 5223 and End box type in 5223, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    4) On the fourth line in Application box type in JKL, in the start box type in 3478 and End box type in 3479, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    5) On the fifth line in Application box type in MNO, in the start box type in 3658 and End box type in 3658, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    6) On the sixth line in Application box type in PQR, in the start box type in 10070 and End box type in 10080, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box and click on Save Settings
    7) Now assign the given ip address on your PlayStation ip address :- 192.168.1.20, subnet mask :- 255.255.255.0, default gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    8) Also assign the dns addresses on the PlayStation Primary dns :- 4.2.2.2...Secondary dns :- 192.168.1.1
    9) Turn off your modem, router, and PlayStation...Wait for a minute...
    10) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the PlayStation and test it...

I forwarded the ports but it still says I have a moderate NAT. I think I need to get a static IP address on my PC and I know how but what DNS servers do I put in. When I made my static IP the internet didn't work and I figured it was the wrong DNS servers. Do I also have to switch anything in the router settings? Like switch from DHCP to static IP? Any help would be appreciated.
PS. I know nothing about routers and will need to be told where to switch things.

in order to open the ports for the x-box , u need to assign a static ip address on the x-box itself and not the pc.....it should be anywhere in between the following range
    192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.99 or
    192.168.1.150 to 192.168.1.254
the dns numbers would be the one from the status page on the router ui...to access the router ui , you need to type http://192.168.1.1 .. logon using "admin" password......on the setup page , adjust the mtu settings to 1365.....under "applications and gaming" , open ports 88 and 3074 and give the ip address of the x-box...

It sounds like your iPhone 4S is not charging when plugged in.  I found an article with some steps that might help with this.  I recommend reviewing the steps in the sections titled "Battery does not charge from the USB power adapter" and "Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off" in the following article:

  • Port Forwarding not working correctly (BTHomeHub 2...

I recently picked up the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 for my pc. Playing online mathes works fine, however trying to join with my friends and connect with them for co-op fails to work. My NAT setting in game was listed as strict and my friends (both on BT) had moderate so I assumed it had to do with that.
After some research, I found out I had to forward ports to my PC which I've done but yet the game still refuses to connect. Sometimes I get lucky and, after forwarding the ports, I load up the game to be shown NAT: Open and I'm able to join my friends quickly, but after about one minute the game disconnects and my setting changes back to Strict.
Now my problem is either one of two things:
    a) My ports are opening but are closing after a minute or two.
    b) Something is wrong with my router.
It should also be noted that one of my friends actually had his NAT setting turn to Strict but he was easily able to forward his ports and get NAT open again. I copied exactly what he did and it didn't work. If it helps, I've also tried setting my computer up with a static IP and port forwarding to the exact IP address I set and not the device name, which still didn't work.
Thank you for any and all help. I really hope I can get this sorted soon.

Port forwarding is not likely to be the issue, there are many posts regarding NAT( Network Address Translation) issues, all over the Internet.
Here are some examples from this forum.
