Port Forwarding Issues with Westell a 7500

I'm having troubles getting port forwarding to work on my Westell 7500 router.  I have used the instructions provided at http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Networking/Troubleshooting/PortForwarding/123866....
Having set up my own port forward I had my aplication test the port and I was told it was closed.  Then I went to a third party web based port testing site (http://www.canyouseeme.org/) to confirm that the port was indeed closed and not just a problem with my aplication.  The site told me that the port was closed.
So I decided to try one of the pre-created port forwards included with the modem.  Using the port number provided I changed the port my aplication used and it still self-tested as closed.  I then went back to canyouseeme and it too told me that the port was closed.
I should also note that in the "Port Forwarding" screen on the router the delete icon (I'm assuming that is what it is - the icon has a red X through it) does not respond to being clicked on.  When I hover the mouse over the icon I get the following text overlay in the bottom left corner of the Chrome browser window - javascript:deleteEntryStart(5,document.TableMgr,0);
To sum up, neither a personal nor a pre-fab port forward show in tests to be working and a function also appears to be not working.
Here's the rub - I am told by tech support that this is an L3 issue.  L3 issues are not covered under regular tech support and are very expensive buy.  My gut feeling is that the router is defective, but I need some way to confirm this before I start making a stink with customer service.  I don't want to spend $39.00 to be told my router is broken before I can send it in and I have a feeling that customer service is going to want to have solid evidence that the problem is not pilot error before ponying up for a replacement modem.
Does anyone have any suggestions for testing the router more thouroughly?  Is this a known issue?  Or does anyone have any suggestions about programming the port forward?
Thank you in advance for taking the time to address this!

If I am not mistaken, the firewall in the router must be at least low.
Otherwise, it will ignore all rules  (or something along that line).

  • Port Forwarding Issues with WVC210

    Hi,
    I have just purchased a WVC210 and had managed to setup the IP Camera to view internally through either Wired or Wireless at the IP address of 192.168.1.152:1024.
    However, I am not able to set up the IP Camera for remote web viewing. My last attempt stopped at the point where I can remotely access my router admin login when typing the dyndns domain name I had created (e.g.  myhomexxx.dyndns.biz).
    The road  to  Cameera seems so near yet so far... Can someone help me out to see is my port forwarding is done correctly. I had tried on two different models of modem/routers and both don't seem to work and the vendor support blame it on compatbility issues and ask me to check with linksys:
    This is what displayed on a Shiro modem/rounter :
    Application :  WebCamera (user defined)
    Protocol : TCP,UDP
    Source IP/Mask:   192.168.1.152 / 255.255.255.0
    Destination IP/Mask:  192.168.1.152 / 255.255.255.255
    Port Start / Port End:   1024 / 1024
    Port Map: 80
    Can someone help/tell me if I doing the right port forwarding values....  my modem/router IP is 192.168.1.1
    thanks,
    Crispin

    Hi Dean
    By the look of it you've got the type B version of the HH3 with current firmware.

  • Quantum Gateway Port Forwarding issues

    This post can be removed.... the port forwarding worked once I set it up under "Advanced Settings -> Network Settings ->Port Forwarding" instead of "Firewall -> Port Forwarding"
    Hello,
    I am having an issue setting up port forwarding.  I have made several attempts to make port forward TCP 8096, but it continues not to work.  I had it working with no problems at my with my old router before we moved so I know it's not an issue with my computer firewall or antivirus and MediaBrowser is working fine on the local network. Is anyone else experiencing Port Forwarding issues?  Also when will DMZ be enabled on this gateway?
    Any help would be apprciated. I'm trying to setup MediaBrowser so I can schedule recordings when i'm not at home.
    Thanks!

  • WRTU54G-TM Port Forward issues, DHCP server disabled but still gives out addresses

    I've seen other posts about port-forwarding issues.  I've had to hard-reset the device twice in 2 months to clear this up.
    One issue that I can't figure out at all is that the DHCP server gives out addresses when it is set to disabled.  This is a problem because it gives out the public DNS servers, which will not resolve addresses on my LAN.  Anyone else seen this?
    Anyone had success putting this router behind a better one and still getting the phone SIM to register and work?

    Have you tried to upgrade the firmware on your Router?
    Click Download  the latest firmware for your Router and save the Firmware file on your Desktop.
    Once you Download the firmware for your Router, Now you need to login to the Router setup page and click on the "Administration" tab and below click on "Firmware Upgrade" and then click on the Browse Button and select the firmware file and click on Upgrade.
    Once the firmware is upgraded successfully then you need to Reset your Router and Re-configure all the settings on your Router from scratch.

  • Time Capsule: Port Forwarding Issue and DHCP with Westell 6100g Modem

    Ok two issues as of right now, but more down the road i think... Anyways, number one, i would like to be able to backup my computer using time machine and my time capsule.. Right now it works properly when inside the local network, was wondering if there was a way to backup when outside the network... i travel a lot and always have my macbook pro with me.. Also, i have a USB hard drive connected to the usb port on back of time capsule but its not showing up anywhere... is that only for printers??? that's not such a big deal, but would be nice to have access to that hard drive from multiple computers... OK so part two of my issues is, i have a WESTELL 6100g modem for DSL verizon service, which is crappy, but that's besides the point, it is a modem/router, so i have the time capsule connected directly to that westell.. the westell only has one Ethernet port, so that's wired to time capsule and then my computers are connected wirelessly and wired through the capsule. It seems that the westell is distributing the IP's and is controlling the port forwarding and what not.. I have tried a few things to give control to the time capsule but that didnt work.. i followed these directions on the web page http://www.dslreports.com/faq/vz/4._Hardware#13600 but it didnt work properly, i couldn't log onto the web at all.. Maybe im doing something wrong.... Anyways, what i really want to do is control everything that the westell is controlling right now with the time capsule... i want to give out IP's and also control port forwarding with the capsule.. Any way of getting that accomplished would be AWESOME... I'm somewhat intelligent when it comes to computers so i should understand everything you are talking about... please help!!!

    If you have Back to my Mac (available online service from Apple's MobileMe), then you can perform the following actions with your Time Capsule remotely,
    1. Remote disk access to both the Time Capsule disk and a compatible disk connected via the Time Capsule's USB ports.
    2. Remote configuration.
    Also, i have a USB hard drive connected to the usb port on back of time capsule but its not showing up anywhere... is that only for printers???
    Printer, hub, or compatible disk.

  • FiOS and World of Warcraft...Port Forwarding Issue

    So for some reason ever since I got FiOS I havent been' able to connect to WoW. Last night I tried to tackle the problem. I following the directions on portforward.com to forward the port in my router. I set it up but when I try to check for the open port via a port check website is says the port ISNT open.
    I am using an iMac G5 with a Westel router. anyone else experience this problem? If so how did you fix it. I called Verizon support and was informed that 'port forwarding is unsupported and we won't help you'
    About ready to cancel FiOS and go back to cable.

    #1 Are you trying to connect to other users OR are you trying to allow other users from the net to connect to you?
    #2 Which port checker site did you use?
    #3 I know that it did not say open OR Success. What did it say?
    #4 What is security level of the router set to? In the guides for that router, they show typical (medium).

  • Bit Torrent port forwarding issue and DNS resoluti...

    Good morning comunity!
    Something odd has happened and I was hoping for some further guidance as I'm not sure what my next steps are.
    Background
    I have uTorrent running on a a machine that accesses a private RSS feed of torrents I am watching. The client sees a new file posting and automaticlly downloads the .torrent file then proceeds to download the main file itself.
    When I had BT installed back on 23 Decemeber I set up port forwarding to this machine, using a static IP, and there were no connection issues.
    What has happened
    The previous evening as I was going to bed I checked the machine and the active torrents and all my files were sitting at 0 connections for connected seeds & peers. Meaning that uTorrent wasn't able to see anyone to conenct to.
    My Troubleshooting
    After seeing the above I began checking my connections and set up on the router as well as the machine. uTorrent has within its preferences a port checking utility for its assinged port and that was showing no open connection. I then logged in to my HH4 and verifed my port forwarding rules: nothing had changed there.
    I removed and re-added the rules, turned off UPNP as well as turned it on with no success. And during the process of adding the rule back into the system I recieved an error stating that the port was already assigned even though at that moment there were no active assignments. So I changed port numbers and the issue went away.
    I then went to chack the private torrent site and the page would not display. Then went to Down For Everyone Or Just Me to check the site as well and it was reported as being up. I loaded my VPN connection to bypass BT's network and I was able to visit the site. Logged back out and did a trace and the trace reported to route to the site. Changed my DNS to Google's DNS setting and was able to access the site.
    Where I am now
    My torrent machine is now running via the VPN but it's not the best connection in the world as changing the DNS there did not resolve the torrent connection issue.
    Does anyone, especially you folkd familar with BT and their practices, have reccomendations as to what to try next or what the issue may be?

    A lot of torrent sites are starting to be blocked. Its possible the site in question is being blocked by BT(They have no choice in this as its being forced onto them by a court order same for most of the other big ISPs). If its being blocked you would still be able to access via a VPN so long as thats not being blocked too. In terms of what you can do about it not much other than keep using the VPN.

  • NAT Port Forwarding Issues

    I am running a Mac Mini Server with 10.6.4 and have just the Firewall and NAT services running on this computer at this time.
    I have two ethernet connections on this computer. One is the built in adapter (en0) and the other is the Apple USB 100mbit adapter (en2). The en2 adapter is plugged into the internet gateway from my ISP with a static addresss (something like 333.333.333.1) and the en0 adapter is connected to my switch with an internal address (something like 10.0.0.1). I can go out to the internet from the computer and also see it from my internal network, which means that from a network prospective, it is properly configured.
    I enabled the NAT service with the Server Admin tool by clicking the "IP Forwarding and Network Address Translation (NAT)" radio button. I selected the USB Ethernet from the "External network interface" and checked the "Enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol" from the options.
    After that I followed the directions of adding the following lines to my natd.plist from the /etc/nat/ directory:
    <array>
    <dict>
    <key>proto</key>
    <string>tcp</string>
    <key>targetIP</key>
    <string>10.0.0.123</string>
    <key>targetPortRange</key>
    <string>80</string>
    <key>aliasIP</key>
    <string>333.33.333.1</string>
    <key>aliasPortRange</key>
    <string>80</string>
    </dict>
    </array>
    I also left the top part of the plist file as such:
    <key>clamp_mss</key>
    <true/>
    <key>deny_incoming</key>
    <false/>
    <key>dynamic</key>
    <true/>
    <key>enable_natportmap</key>
    <true/>
    <key>interface</key>
    <string>en2</string>
    <key>log</key>
    <true/>
    <key>log_denied</key>
    <false/>
    <key>natportmap_interface</key>
    <string>en2</string>
    <key>proxy_only</key>
    <false/>
    <key>reverse</key>
    <false/>
    <key>same_ports</key>
    <true/>
    <key>unregistered_only</key>
    <true/>
    <key>use_sockets</key>
    <true/>
    The section I added is correctly located directly above the final </dict></plist>.
    Unfortunately, this does not work and according to the directions from Apple this is exactly how you are supposed to be able to enable port forwarding. I have also opened up the port 80 on my firewall to allow incoming requests. When I go to the external IP address for that server it just sits and waits forever and nothing is resolved.
    If someone has experience with this issue please advise.

    Gateway configurations are problematic with Mac OS X Server.
    (There are many previous discussions around the forums.)
    Getting this to work is fussy, at best.
    You can also end up with ports unexpectedly open.
    An external firewall is usually the easiest choice.

    Port forwarding is not going well for me. I looked up guides and followed every step, testing the ports with several Port Testing websites and still no luck. I even went as far as disabling window's firewall just to see if that was an issue. Factory reset didnt help and cmd netstat -a is not showing them. Not sure what to troubleshoot next.

  • Remote Coding nd Port Forwarding Issue

    I have Verizon FIOS Westall 9100 Router.
    I am trying to set up remote coding for Port 6801 and my host IP 192.168.1.9 DHCP address.
    I set up port forwarding - all TCP and UDP  to  Port 6801 to 192.168.1.9 and it shows as active with no conflicts.
    Problem is that when my remote coding was attempted, the technician said the port is blocked. We tried for over an hour and also checked online through a port forwarding tool and it said it is blocked. I checked firewall router and it is on medium security which was recommended.
    Can someone help me through this issue and make a recommendation to solve the problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    Did you define the source and destination ports?
    that router is finicky, it only likes it if the destination is defined
    IOW it should look like this
    192.168.1.9
               TCP ANY -> 6801
    If that ANY is a number, it likely will not work

  • Port forwarding issue on Homehub 3.0 Type A

    I'm trying to port forward both Minecraft and Black Ops 2. Everything works alright up until I try and actually forward it to my desktop.
    When I press 'Add' or 'Apply' either in the port forwarding section or home network section it changes Minecraft to PalTalk and Black Ops 2 to BT Homesafe Camera. I can't find any information on this specific issue but if anyone can help I would much appreciate it.
    Another thing to mention is that when I try and forward Minecraft and it changes to PalTalk both are removed from the drop-down list of selectable things to prot forward. I use the PFPortChecker program from portforward to check and it's saying that the ports are closed.
    Thanks

    Thanks for all your suggestions and help. I had sorta the same problems on an old 2.0 hub (the one where once you deleted a rule you had reset all settings to reassign it).
    I managed to get Minecraft portforwarded... I have no idea how. I was mostly absorbed in my thoughts of "What dumba** at BT actually let this product go through testing if they even do any testing on their modem/routers to begin with?"
    So I managed to get the original PalTalk rule deleted o.O. I'm doing the same for Black Ops now so hopefully I can recreate the steps. When I click edit on the Black Ops rule it brings me in to the BT Homesafe Camera rules. After editing this and changing the name form BT Homesafe Camera to BT Black Ops 2 I applied it and instead of editing the rule, it added a new rule. So now I had Black Ops 2, BT Black Ops 2 and Minecraft in my user-defined options. I deleted the one called Black Ops 2 and it instead deleted BT Black Ops 2. And now it works. Also the BT Homesafe Camera original rule is now gone and now it's time to make a back-up if ever it screws up again.
    So that's weird but thanks a lot for your help and I hope my poorly written paragraph helps others that might be having the same issue

  • Actiontec MI424WR rev I port forwarding issue.

    Within the last month, all of my wireless security cameras as well as my Directv DVR have stopped responding to remote access. All of the cameras work fine when directly connected to an e-net cable. I have checked all the settings on the router and they have not changed. I then tried to check the ports assigned to the cameras and found that they are all reported as CLOSED by two different internet port checkers. However, these same port checkers report eveything closed on this router., but my browser, email, remote desktop all work ok. Before I tear any more hair out, can some one have pity on an old fart and tell me what I have overlooked????

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I had a session with a VZW tech who in turn brought an Actiontec tech on the line. What we did was to delete all of the current camera rules and reinstall them. Everything now works. ?????
    THe one remaining issue regards the port checkers that show all the well known ports closed. We never came up with an answer to that. But they are not stopping anything from working. One other item regarding the camera ports. If the camera is not on for some reason, then the port will show that it is closed...
    CaptainSTX wrote:
    Not that I have an answer for your question but misery always loves company.
    The prior firmware update for the Actiontec knocked out the automatic update  using DynamicDNS.
    The 10/31 update fixed the problem of updating DynamicDNS  however it seems to have done something to port forwarding.
    Prior to the last two updates of the Actiontec's firmware I used to be able to run an FTP server on a USB drive connected to a router double NATed behind the Actiontec.    I was also able to remotely access certain devices using port forwarding from the Actiontec.   Not working anymore.
    Based on your problem I think it is a firmware issue with the Actiontec and there may be nothing that can be done until the next firmware update.
