Port fowarding on windows airport utility?

When I'm at school, and have connected the router, whenever someone is connected to the internet cable (we have 2 slots), they can download torrents fine. Whenever someone tries to download them through the wifi from AirPort Express, they cant, and the ports are blocked, how can I open them? There doesnt seem to be an option for that the utility

Welcome to the discussions!
To function correctly in your application, the AirPort Express is probably configured to act as a "bridge"...Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
You can confirm this by opening AirPort Utility and clicking Manual Setup
Click the Internet icon in the row of icons
Check the Connection Sharing setting at the bottom of the page
When the AirPort Express is in "bridge mode" it is not blocking any ports. They are already open. The Express receives its information from the router ahead of it. You will need to setup port forwarding, etc on that router.

  • How to disable back to my mac with Windows airport utility?

    Setup is as follows:
Modem > AEBS (latest version) > Windows 8.1 machine running IPSEC VPN server
..I cannot get the outside world to talk to the VPN server despite forwarding the required ports (500,4500,1701) so I enable debug logging on the AEBS and see a bunch of these.
Mar  7 19:49:26 airport-extreme natpmp: Binding added for udp, 109.155.226.110:32771 to 10.0.1.2:4500 with lifetime 7200
Mar  7 19:49:26 airport-extreme natpmp: Binding added for udp, 109.155.226.110:32769 to 10.0.1.32:4500 with lifetime 7200
In AEBS I'm forwarding 4500 to IP .99
    4500 is BTMM right?
So I'm thinking I'll disable BTMM on the AEBS and test again however the Windows airport utility won't let me disable/enable BTMM and I dont have another OSX machine on the network currently to use to check/change the setting.
Any suggestions on how I can disable BTMM from the Windows tool?  Or without a tool at all?
    Thanks!!

I strongly recommend whenever a router is seeming to cause issues.. you actually bypass it.. plug the computer directly into the modem and see if the vpn works. You need to get the simple easy to work before you attempt the much harder job of vpn passthrough on a known problematic device.
If the vpn doesn't work still you have the vpn server or local firewall setup wrongly.
If it works ok and the airport continues to give you grief.
My advice is simple.. get another router. Bridge the AE and use it for Wireless. A cheap normal router (particularly if you purchase wisely one that has possible 3rd party firmware) is going to save you years of aging, worry, pain, and all round trouble. Particularly when you try to get things working Apple to Windows with their different upnp vs NATPMP protocols, it is just too hard.
however I'm still seeing those binding messages in the log, as if it's still going somewhere.
Some interaction with Apple is built into every Mac with iCloud ID at least. Turn off all the other clients in the network.. reboot the AE.. but I doubt it will make any difference. It might not be BTMM it might simply be the security protection of the username and password.

I am not 100% what isn't allowed.. but I am assuming you want to spread the backup across the two disks.. internal TC and 6TB external.. this is not possible.. It has to be one or the other. TC has no way to build a raid JBOD or anything else. Nor would you want to as that is the most likely to fail and kill your data.
Let me add, backing up 6TB over USB on TC.. will be the most excruciating experience of your life.. cf child birth or passing kidney stones.. large ones.. being the male equivalent.

  • Unable to see Airport Express from Windows Airport Utility

I am setting up an Airport Express to connect remote speakers for a friend with windows base system. The router is a TrendNet.
I have managed to add the Airport Express to the network. I can ping the router, and if I put in the IP address to Airport Utility it is found and I can configure it. Airport Utility on it's own however will not find the Airport Express.
I can currently play to the Airport speakers from multiple iPhones also on the network, so I know that part is working as well. What is not working is the Airport Express is not showing up in iTunes as an available speaker. I am guessing that as the Airport Utility also will not recognize it that is had something to do with firewall rules on the Windows 7 computer or Trendnet Router.  I checked Windows 7, and there are four Bonjour entries and one iTunes entry. All seem set open for incoming requests.
At this point I'm puzzled. Any network gurus out there have new ideas?
    Thanks
    Gary

I just ran both the verify and repair options on both the permissions and the volume. The ~/Library permissions are repaired, but that was all. I also checked the software update, but I have all the latest installed, it seems.
Where can I check my AirTunes version? I tried spotlighting for it, but that search came up empty. I did install the version that came with the AirPort Express. It says "AirPort 4.2", so I guess that's the version installed at the moment. My iTunes version is 7.0.2. I upgraded the firmware to version 6.3.
I have very little knowledge of networking, I'm afraid, and I'm starting to think that maybe the problem could be my router being set up in such a way that it won't allow the AirPort Express to connect properly.
The reason I believe it's my network rather than the AirPort Express is because when I reset the device, I see that new network named "Apple Network xxxxx". When I connect to it, iTunes properly displays that AirTunes selection box in the lower right and I can stream music to it. With the ethernet cable plugged in, the sound does lag every now and then whenever I use an applications that needs Internet access.
The MacBook, router and AirPort Express are about one to two meters apart (that's three to six feet, I think). I'm not quite sure if the SpeedTouch router is set up properly. Luckily, a friend of mine who's a system administrator is coming over today, so I'll ask him if he could have a look at my network setup.
Thanks for all the help and the fast replies! :^)

  • Windows - Airport Utility won't recognize Express plugged into Home stereo.

I am trying to set up the express to stream music to home stereo exclusively. I currently have a NETGEAR 108 Mbps (WGT624 v2) router set up on a Windows XP. Airport Utility won't recognize the device. Any ideas on how to make this thing work while keeping existing network? Thanks so much.

Let's double-check your AX's configure to receive audio via AirTunes.
Please reconnect the AX back to the Netgear before running the AirPort Utility.
Ok, compare your settings to the following within the AirPort Utility using Manual Setup:
    AirPort > Base Station
o Base Station Name: <rename or leave default>
    o Base Station Password: <enter desired password>
    o Verify Password: <re-enter desired password>
o Remember this password in my keychain: (optional)
    o Set time automatically: (unchecked)
    AirPort > Wireless
o Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
    o Network Name: <existing Netgear's wireless network>
o Wireless Security: <select the encryption type of the existing wireless network>
o Wireless Password: <enter the existing wireless network password>
o Verify Password: <re-enter the existing wireless network password>
    Music
    o Enable AirTunes (checked)
o iTunes Speaker Name: <enter desired speaker name>
    o iTunes Speaker Password: (optional)
    o Verify Password: (optional)
o Click Update to write the new settings to the AX
    In iTunes:
    iTunes > Preferences... > Advanced > General
o Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes (checked)

Downloading the right file for XP?  Check to make sure that you are running XP SP3.

AirPort Utility is required if you need to set up or change the settings on an Apple AirPort router.  It is not required if you are simply connecting to the wireless network from a PC.

  • Airport Utility No Longer Sees my Extreme Bus Station

Hello. I just moved into a new apartment and setup my network as I did in my previous place. My Linksys wired cable modem is plugged into my Airport Extreme and my Extreme is plugged into my Desktop Pro's ethernet port. I ran Airport Utility but it doesn't recognize any Apple wireless devices. I have restarted all modems and the computer several times and nothing. The light on the Extreme is flashing amber, btw.
I am running OSX 10.5.4 on a Mac Desktop Pro.
    Any ideas?

Problem solved. I had to reset the Airport Extreme to it's factory settings.

  • Airport Express Works but doesn't show up in Airport Utility

I have a network hard wired to each floor in the house.  On the second floor I have connected an Airport Express and sucessfully established a wireless signal (my iphone and dell connect to it), however I can't see this express in Airport Utility.  Any suggestions as to why not?  Its a pretty old AE.  My desire is to have a non wireless laser printer connected by USB to the AE and therefore be visible to computers on different floors of the house.
    Alastair

A USB printer connected to the Airport Express USB port is shareable with other computers on the network.
If your AE is pretty old, make sure that you've upgraded it to the latest firmware.
Try connecting the Express directly to a computer via an ethernet port and use the airport utility to confirm that it is configured correctly and then moving it to it's final location.

  • How to configure NAT in latest AirPort Utility?

Ok, where the heck did the NAT configuration section go in the latest AirPort Utility (I am running v6.1 under 10.7.4). It *used* to be under Network->NAT but it is now missing/hidden. Good times.
Any help would be much appreciated!

    Hey Bob Timmons,
I am running Mountain Lion (10.8.1) and airport utility 6.1. I am also trying to open up a port. I downloaded airport utility 5.6 like you mentioned but it won't let me install it because it says the discs are not compatible with that version. So I'm guessing 5.6 doesn't play nicely with Mountain Lion. Does that sound correct? Any help is appreciated.
Sorry about the link to the photo instead of attaching it directly. It wouldn't let me attach it.

  • Can't map ports with Airport Utility for Windows

We are currently set up with Airport Express as a wireless router with a cable modem as the gateway. When I attempt to map ports, I do the following:
    run Airport Utility
Select the Base Station, click Manual
    click Internet. click NAT.
    Click Configure Port Mappings...
    click +
At this point, a requester appears asking for my Private IP address. Here I'd expect to see a prefix, like 192.168.1 and a field for the last octet.
Instead, I see 192.168.1.2 and THEN a field. What silliness is this? All the manuals I have read omit that last octet, so you can type it in a field. .2 is the first number in the DHCP range. I'm using a fixed IP of 192.168.1.176 (outside the range.) Of course, none of the port mappings I create work. I've tried typing 176 into the field.

  • Are you having problems with Windows XP Pro and Airport Utility Updates?

I was having problems with my wireless laptop setting up my Bonjour Printer. I checked to make sure I had downloaded the latest updates to Airport Utility and Bonjour. Check. After doing this I noticed I couldn't see my Airport Extreme through the Airport Utility. After much frustration and bringing my entire network crashing down around me, I got help from a knowledgeable guy from Cox Cable in San Diego. He helped me get my trusty iMac Power PC online. It saw my Airport Extreme but no answers were forthcoming in any forums about my XP issues. Here is what finally solved my problem. I uninstalled all Airport Utility and Bonjour Programs. I then went back to Airport Utility 5.3.1 for Windows. It installs Bonjour Printer services with this download. Everything is working perfectly again. I have my Canon Pixma MP500 connected to the USB port on my AEBS and Bonjour walked right through the setup process. I suggest that if this works for you, turn off all Airport Utility and AEBS firmware updates until you see that whatever issue Apple created with these updates gets fixed.

    Well... it worked! :D
I'm pretty sure the extra 512 memory stick was the problem, that would explain why it was being inconsistent with its type of failures before. I'm going to reinstall it later and run memtest86 and try and see if i can get it to work at all somehow without causing problems, cuz 1.5 was already low enough...
DryHeat, yeah it was with SP2 but I got it installed now so no worries
    Thanks a lot!

  • Cannot see Timecapsule in Airport Utility on Windows XP

Just purchased a 2T TC and can connect MBP and Macbook air ok.
I also have a Lenovo laptop with Windows XP that uses TC for internet access that works ok. When I run Airport Utility (v5.5.3) on Windows XP it cannot see the TC. I have Bonjour Printer Services installed as well
Main reason I want to connect to TC is to access a Canon MP800 MFP printer connected to the TC via USB.
Appreciate any help or suggestions ( and I know I should upgrade to Windows 7 or Mac OSx however that is not an option at the moment :-).

Hi I dont think it is a ethernet/wireless issue - wireless on XP laptop works in other networks and in fact can connect to TC router - I am just not seeing the TC when I use Airport on the Windows XP machine.
Taking a different approach - I have been able to set up a local pinter on the XP laptop using an IP port that points to the USB printer connected to the TC and this works.
I am still intrigued as to why Airport on XP cannot see the TC however the workaround is fine
Thanks for the ideas LaPastenague - much appreciated

Is any body can help by using apple airport extreme model no A1143

charlie368, Welcome to the discussion area!
Using AirPort Utility you can configure the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) to forward the port(s) to the camera. However the camera will need to be assigned a local IP address. The default local IP addresses are in the 10.0.1.x range.
To get to the camera from the internet, you would use the IP address provided by your ISP. This is the one used by the WAN side of the AEBS.
