Port Mapping and Having Others See My Filemaker Database!

Hi Group. I am very frustrated and new to this so any help would be appreciated.
I have Airport Extreme (the one that came out about 2 years ago), and was told by Filemaker Staff to do port mapping on this router, using 16008 to 16018 in the public port mapping which I did. No luck. Nothing is viewable remotely.
Then turned on Personal Web Sharing. No luck.
Then an Apple guy suggested in port mapping, instead of putting 16008-16018 as"public ports", I should put this number as private ports and put the recommende Filemaker 590 as the public port in the port mapping section.
Still no luck. I can see the Filemaker database just fine when I add localhost:590/fmi/iwp, but each time when I had a friend try to use the router IP address 67.161.74.142:590/fmi/iwp, still there is nothing of it that people can see (not found message).
I have Comcast service as my IP and don't know what else to try? Help!!!

I'm having the same difficulty (and the same discussion with the tech people at FM). I've tried to map the ports (16008-16018) on my airport extreme (sounds like a similar model to the one you have), but when I do a port scan the ports are not listed.
Did you ever figure this out?

Port Mapping and DHCP...

Really sorry if this has been asked.. I feel kinda stupid actually but;
I have port mapping set up... working fine... all incoming traffic to my public IP goes to my iBook on 192.168.1.2
but now... the iBook's IP is 192.168.1.3 so I had to update the port mapping to suit this IP
Is there anyway I can make the Airport hand out 192.168.1.2 to the iBook everytime based on it's MAC address ? My old router used to be able to do this.

You should configure the iBook to use a manual IP address outside the range used by the AEBS's DHCP server. The default range used by the AEBS's DHCP server is x.y.z.2 to x.y.z.200. So you would want to configure your iBook to use a manual IP address of 192.168.1.202 (for example).
Configure the port mapping to map to that address.

On VMM managed cluster hosts, I can't figure out why most of my hosts answer port 5900 and the others 2179, but not both

Below, you see a netcat list of my hosts. Most are answering port 5900, but not 2179. The list on the bottom is answering 2179, but not 5900. I need to know for 3 reason why this is, (1) to setup our enterprise firewall, (2) for port health
monitoring of our hosts, and (3) just what is going on. I thought that 2179 should be open on all hosts, and that 5900 was only used in legacy cases (at least from what I read from googling around). Why aren't all of my hosts answering 2179?
My hosts are all Server 2008 R2 Datacenter SP1 64-bit. We have a mix of VMs with Server 2008 R2, Win7, and RHEL6, all 64-bit.

This is specifically related to Hyper-V hosts, where the following ports may be used by the VMM to communicate to each host:
VMConnect (RDP) to Hyper-V hosts 2179
VMRC connection to Virtual Server host 5900
These ports are outlined here...

I am not running independent VNC servers on my hosts. They are VMRC ports. My confusion is why some of my hosts are only answering 2179, while the others are only answering 5900, but not both ports on all hosts (or for that matter just 2179 on
all hosts).

Using public google calendars and having others subscribe on the Iphone.

I recently created a public calendar in google. I have sent the ics link out to all those who want to see it and most have subscribed to the calendar.
If the others want to get alerts when there are changes made to the calendar, how does that work? Can I do this in the google calendar? Does the iphone user do it on their end? Can this not happen with a public calendar?

FTP and Port mapping

we get troubles with our FTP Server. The clients send a Syn with Src port 40000 then the Server replies with the the same dst port but i presume that the loadbalancer makes a port-mapping and translate the source Port to eg. 33000. Our firewall clearly drops the packet with the reason "Packet out of state". have you any idea ?

the problem that I have now is with ACTIVE FTP. I made PBR on the Loadbalancer. Passive FTP works either from the internet and from our internal network while Active FTP works only from the internet and doesn't work from our internal network. What we see is that the Loadbalancer sends the ftp-data packet out to the InternetVLAN (eg. VLAN 3605) and not to the VLAN 3603. I guess the problem is in my access-list. have you any Idea ??

You will need to have location services on for maps and the other apps that you require location settings for.

I have an AIRPORT EXTREME firmware 7.6.1. I'm trying to get it to open port 443 in port mapping and it says it's open and when I port scan it's not. Am I missing something? Please see the enclosed image...

Unable to issue "show ip port-map" command

We are unable to issue the command "show ip port-map".
We logon to the router. Issue "enable". Get the privileged exec command prompt (router8#). When we issue "show ip p?", the list returns "pim", "policy", "prefix-list" and "protocols". But, no "port-map" entry.
We are running Version 12.3(14)T1 of IOS.

Yes. We can execute "show ip route" and other commands.
We are working on building some ip port-maps. We issued one ip port-map command. That's when we went back to see what was in the port-map table by executing the "show ip port-map" command.

Port mapping through airport

ok so i was having problems trying to do a 1 way video chat with someone on a PC I port mapped the 5000 series ports that are listed in in these discussions and hooray i got it to work...
the only problem is that my gf wants to be able to do one way chats with this person on another laptop....
first i tried duplicating what i did with the port mapping and using her internal IP address but that didnt work.... i wasnt sure it would i figured that would create a conflict....
can anyone tell me how to do this....
i guess what im trying to do is open the ports for anyone inside the my airport network

There is no way to map a external port to multiple
internal IP addresses.
I noticed your response to the "service" that was asked about, by the above poster. It seemed relevant to me, because I wanted to use the ARD "service" to, in fact, reach several computers "behind" the AEBS that I have. The ARD program would be on an outside and public IP address (in other words, "away from home").
If I understand you right, in referencing this person's "service" (here in this post) -- I suppose the same thing applies to ARD, meaning that ARD cannot access more than -one- computer behind an AEBS, from an outside and public IP address. Is that correct?

WRV200 port mapping problems.

I did the port mapping to enable direct IP dialing from Linksys PAP2 VoIP adapter. It worked fine, untill I replaced the old router with a new WRV200.
The funny thing is the mapping works for some time, then it stops to work. To bring it back to work I have to restart the WRV200 router.
Everything worked fine with old Digitus DN-11005 router. I did not changed the settings in the PAP2 adapter. And, I used the same port mapping settings with WRV200 router. The PAP2 is set to DHCP and static IP is set through static DHCP client list in WRV200.
The only change from the old Digitus LAN settings is a different subnet IP. The old one was 192.168.123.0 the new one is 192.168.122.0
The direct IP dialing is done through WAN of the local Internet service provider. Both locations had the same Digitus router and PAP2 adapters installed with the same port mapping and PAP2 adapter settings. Now with one router changed to WRV200 the system does not work correctly. It looks like the port mapping in WRV200 stops working in about an hour after last usage of this feature.

I've been busy playing with the issue. Looks, like it is not the port mapping issue, after all.
The LAN is constructed from the WRV200 router and a Surecom EP-805SX 5 port switch connected to one of the router ports. The PAP2 adapter is connected through the switch.
When the PAP 2 appears to be locked it does not make outside calls, and it does not receive them. SIP registering does not work, as well. So, the communication with Internet does not work. In the same time, I can access the web config page of the PAP adapter. To bring everything back to normal I need to pull out and back in one of the WRV200 LAN port plugs. So, reseting of the whole router is not necesary, because disconnecting one of the LAN ports does the trick. What is bugging me is, it works with any of the 4 LAN ports. It does not have to be the LAN port the PAP2 is connected with.
I've noticed, also, a computer connected to the same switch the PAP is connected with has some problem to communicate with the DHCP server of the WRV200 router, from time to time.

HT201514 I recently updated the Imac software, now i can't see my Wd back up drive in 'time machine' Its connected via firewire and i can see its connected if i check firewire on my mac.

I recently updated my IMac software to the latest version, now i can't see by WD back up drive in time machine. its conected to the firewire port ok and i can see it if i check firewire connections. The drive works ok on an old windows laptop. Any ideas.

I think you're confusing Time Machine (the backup software) with a Time Capsule (Apple hardware combining a wireless router and HD). Unless you have a Time Capsule you want to back up to, there's no point to clicking the Set Up Time Capsule button, if that's what you mean:
I've attached the Firewire bus from system profiler, dont understand why i can see it there but not in TM.
There seems to be some sort of problem with the drive, since Disk Utility thinks it's fixed, but immediately the problem returns (per the first sample you posted).
How old is the drive?
If it's within the warranty period, you might want to contact WD or the place you bought it.

DPC3825 / CAN OPEN PORT 3306 BUT NOT OTHERS

I am trying to open port 80, 3306, 30000, and 30001 .... I did everything properly, I have a static IP address, I am hooked directly to my cisco router, but when I go to this website http://www.whatsmyip.org/port-scanner/ and scan to see if my ports are open, only port 3306 shows that is open, all the other ports time out... Please help me.

FTP & Port Mapping?

Ok, I'm pretty new to wireless networking but I have a pretty good grasp of it all. I just have one question about Port Mapping and security. I have to open port 21 on Port Mapping in order for me to use FTP to upload files to my webspace. My question is how safe is it to leave that port open all the time? Or should I continue to close the port after everytime I upload? That's fine but it takes so long to update the Express with the new settings and reset. Kind of a pain.
Anyway, if anyone has an opinion or suggestion for this then it would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I guess I would be at minor risk since I don't have my OS X firewall enabled. I just figured that the Express was a better firewall. But if you start punching holes in the wall then it becomes less secure. Hmm.... I guess I would have to enable the OS X firewall then if I want to leave the port mapping enabled on the Express. And just enable FTP access through the OS X firewall when needed.
Of course I have good password protection on the FTP server but then again I would have the port wide open too.
Anyway.... thanks again for your help! It definitely helps me put things in order with what I need to do.

DPC3941t Gateway - Port Mapping

After swapping out my TC8305 gateway for the DPC3941t yesterday, I changed the local IP configuration from 10.0.0.1 to 192.168.1.1, as my home network is configured that way. My NAS and security cameras did not reconnect, and I did a hard reset on them and reinstalled with their setup files. After the first one was installed and working properly, and I was able to access it, I tried to access the gateway home page and it was blocked. I restarted it and was then able to log in. I installed the second camera and the same thing happened. The event log showed 88 entries of port mapping and port deletion. I was told by tech support last night to hard reset the gateway and start all over. I did the reset and am back at 10.0.0.1, with my NAS and cameras unreachable. The NAS and cameras worked fine on the TC8305, and the TC8305 worked fine until the last upgrade. They scheduled a technician to come back tomorrow but they don't do router configuration, only swap one out for another. Is there any fix for this other than my going out and buying a separate modem and router? Thank you for any enlightenment out there. Kat.

Port Mapping in Leopard

Just purchased new iMac and the installed SW doesn't seem to include equivalent functions that were in Airport Admin Utility in Tiger OS. I need to be able to do some manual port mapping and don't know what utility to use to do this. Any help appreciated.
