i want to use a port replicator for a A60 equium laptop can anyone advise what to use as i cannot see one listed for this laptop

Nick is absolutely right. It can not be connected to port replicator. All units that can be connected to port replicator have expansion port at the bottom side.

I have tried suggestions given in the forum but am still struggling, I think I need a new mothherboard for Equium A60, I have searched the Toshiba site but tere does'nt seem to be any links or place where it says you can buy one from, HELP!

As far as I know you cannot order notebook parts directly from Toshiba.
You can do it in some independent electronic store, maybe by Toshiba authorized service provider or on eBay. I recommend you to check eBay. There you can find lot hardware components for different Toshiba notebooks.
With a little bit luck you can find mainboard for your notebook model too.

0A33944 Port replicator for Ideapad S206

I have recently bought a S206 ideapad computer fitted with Windows 8 and am pretty happy with it.
I want to use a port replicator to provide quick access for mouse, keyboard and monitor. Is Lenova item 0A33944 suitable? In particular it seems to fit my requirements but web information only states it works with Windows 7.

Hi speed USB via an Advanced Port Replicator for a Tecra 9100?

I have the same issue with a Tecra 9100 and upgrading it to hi speed USB as an earlier post where the suggested solution was to use a PCMCIA card.

I had an idea but i don't know if it will work and need some advice?????
Can you buy an Advanced Port Replicator that has Hi Speed USB 2.0 ports on it (like the APR II PA3082U which works with the Tecra 9100) instead of the PCMCIA card.
If the Port Replicator docks into the motherboard will it give you Hi Speed USB 2.0 or is the Tecra 9100 constrained to USB 1.1 via the hardware within the laptop itself and the port replicator won't help?
Also if I go down the Port Replicator route do i need any drivers for the Hi speed ports of the Port Replicator to work on the Tecra 9100?
Or to ask the question another way - what does the PCMIA USB 2.0 card have in it that the Advanced Port Replicator with hi speeed USB doesn't have?

the Tecra 9100 has NO usb 2.0 and thats a fact. Since the port replicator has these USB 2.0 ports does not mean that your machine, when docked to the Portrep, is able to handle USB 2.0 devices. The portrep is just like an usb-hub and behaves like. So if your machine doesnt have it then thats it.
And the explanation to the PCMCIA/Cardbus solution:
The pcmcia card has USB 2.0 Chipset, thats the reason why it IS a USB 2.0 device (roothub).

Just purchase that card and you will have USB 2.0

Ive checked Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com and I found BIOS update 1.90-WIN for your Equium notebook.
I don't know why you cannot find it but please under Product type choose option ARCHIVE.
You will find it there.

I am after a new battery for my notepad equium a60-181.
The battery fitted is a PA3384U-1BRS.
I looked on the toshiba web site and could not find this model.
As it been replaced by another model, if so what battery number should i be looking for.

Well, youve got 2 choices;
Either you will buy an new motherboard which would cost a little fortune or you will try to search on very famous auction site for a second hand Equium A60 (Satellite A60) or second hand motherboard.
All parts and also the new motherboard can be ordered from the ASP in your country.
The technicians could order such part from the Toshiba directly.
So its you choice now ;)

Grapics upgrade for Equium A60

hello to all!
I'm new to this so please don't laugh to much if my question is a daft one! I have an A60-155 equium laptop with 64mb graphics built in, is it possible to upgrade to 128mb or higher at all? I've had different answers from different people so wanted to find out once and for all & this seems to be the place to do it. Thankyou for your help in advance. Craig

Hi Craig,
As you probably realise, your graphics card shares its RAM with your CPU. This is controlled by a setting in your BIOS (entitled 'UMA' if I remeber correctly).
Go into you BIOS settings a look for this setting. If it is selectable (it is in my Phoenix BIOS on my A30), then you should see a pop window showing a range of settings usually 32Mb, 64Mb(default) and 128Mb.
Obviously if you set ity to 128Mb this will reduce the available remaining RAM since it is shared.

I can buy a 42W4631 replicator, but I am not 100% sure if it will fit a W530. When I search the Lenovo site i see it will fit a W500. I DO NOT read a "W500-SERIES", so I'm afraid it won't fit ??? Can anyone help me please ? Thanks !

BIOS update for Equium A60-181

Hi, according to the toshiba website there's a new BIOS update for my laptop.
I was wondering is it worth the update unfortunately there's no information
supplied with regards to bug fixes or improvements ? Also should I use the
Windows update tool or use the bootable CD option it's just I don't feel safe
flashing under Windows XP unless this is a standard flawless procedure ?

Richard do you have some problems with your unit? If everything works fine I do not see any reason for BIOS update.
If you think that BIOS update is necessary you can try Windows based Bios Update but please check first Toshiba BIOS-Update Description before proceeding.

SM bus driver for equium a60-692

i have reformated my hard drive and reinstalled windows xp professional but am missing the SM Bus driver. Is it possible you could tell me where i can get one from please.
i have tried searching on the net and checking from windows updates but nothing is available. There are alot of drivers on the net and im not sure if they are all compatible. any help would be much appreciated.

Where I can buy a new motherboard for Equium A60?

My motherboard is currently ruined in one place which means some of the keys do not work on the keyboard. Can someone point me in the direction where I can buy a new motherboard?
I read someone said between £50-£150. I really don't want to buy a new laptop so this would be great help!

Yes everything does work well with an external keyboard. However it is not so easy using an external keyboard when you are sitting away from a desk. Is there anyway that you can buy keyboards (USB) that go in the place of the original keyboard and just plug into the USB socket? What has happened is water has gone onto the motherboard and corroded the PCB according to the report I had done on it. I've tried cleaning up the corrosion but to no avail. Is it possible you guys could point me in the direction of somewhere I could buy a motherboard as well as an external keyboard similar to something I described above?

Lenovo USB 2.0 Port Replicator Freezes Issues and Problems

Okay, I have THREE of these port replicators in my office, and ALL THREE have the exact same problem on various laptops(X1, T420, Edge 13) with various kayboard/mice. I've been through all stages of the port replicator drivers on the various systems, and the issue is always there. All laptop drivers are updated.
Here is the issue: working away, and then bam, mouse and keyboard don't work. I'm working in a external monitor only display setup. I go to the keyboard/touchpad on the laptop and they don't work...however ctrl+alt+delete works on the laptop keyboard(not the regular one). Then the touchpad works...but I can't click on any of the settings EXCEPT sleep. When I press a button to wake it up, everything works fine. Basic external keyboards/mice, no need for different drivers.
The other thing that fixes everything is unplugging the USB connection from the port replicator and plugging it back in to the laptop(or unplugging the power to the port replicator).
The weird thing is that I took the keyboard and mouse and they are plugged into the laptop itself, NOT the dock, and I still get the same issue with responsiveness. This happens on ALL the docks, so it's not a keyboard/mouse driver thing.
The one thing that's occuring to me is that maybe it's a weird display issue? I haven't tried actually using the external or laptop keyboard to run commands while it's frozen...and I also haven't tried unplugging things from the port replicator one by one (such as unplugging the display cable from the port replicator, then the printer, then the ethernet). I'll keep you updated if I get any further. It's been like this for months, and my users are just doing the workarounds. one thing is for sure...
I'M NEVER GOING TO SUBSTITUE THIS PORT REPLICATOR FOR A NORMAL DOCK AGAIN! (although i have no choice with the X1).

could you please try the following to see if it changes the behaviour of the USB ports. In Device Manager, with the port rep attached, disable the ability on each of the USB Root Hubs for Windows to disable the device in order to save power, restart the system and see if the problem still occurs.
