Not sure if its any use in your case, as your setup sounds a bit non-standard.

    lighting bolt port shuts down macbook pro once the cable is pugged in. What is the cause of this problem

    Hi reginaldt,
    If your Mac unexpectedly turns off when you plug in a cable (unclear if you are describing a USB Lightning cable or a Thunderbolt cable) and you have checked to make sure there is no debris in either the cable jack or port, you may want to try resetting the PRAM and SMC:

  • K9N Platinum (not SLI) Ethernet/LAN ports shut down

    Not sure if this has been up before but i could not find this exact problem. I have the K9N Platinum with am AMD 64x 4200+ CPU and OCZ 1GB x2 mem. My build and install of XP went without incident. My problem is that when I start to download anything of size, the LAN shut down. It will say "cable unplugged". If I switch to the second port, it will be good for a while, then the same thing. The only fix is to reboot. I am connected through a switch. I loaded the latest drivers (nVidia) from the monitor software. I found a different set on the NVidia web site and installed, but now it will not pick up DHCP. It will work if I hard code the IP. I read that it should be using Realtek drivers, not Nvidia. Please help!!! I opened a case with support but they have not answered yet.

    That is a start on Specs. You can look at anyone's signatuires here to see what is most commonly looked for in specs. Your are missing the PSU specs.
    However one of the first things to try is to go into Bios and set optimized defaults. Then you will need to make sure nothing else in Bios has changed as setting Optimized defaults usually changes things quite a bit.
    Then make sure that your using the drivers that came with the board including the NVidia and Network drivers.
    You may have to enter Device manager and remove the Network Driver and let it restart.
    You did answer one question many folks would have with the specs you gave about memory. The memory you have listed should be fine.

  • USB Port shutting down...

    Anytime I plug in my Blackberry Storm to my USB port it gives me an error that it is drawing too much power and the port will be shut off...
    Why is this? I have had the phone for nearly a year and just now it is giving me an issue.
    Recently I upgraded my ram to 4gb, my HD to a 500gb 7200rpm drive. and updated the OS on my blackberry. Could any of this cause an issue?

    did you do the drive yourself? not saying you are not capable... the hard drives on these models are not very user friendly to install yourself. apple recommends a service provider do this for you...
    if you are fairly handy, mistakes can happen tho, something may have been messed with during the process.
    also, are you getting this on both ports? if so, how did you re-install OS X - o9r migrate to the new drive?
    are any other bb users complaining about usb issues with the new BB OS?
    Things to try: use the USB port towards the front, reload the OS on the phone, try a different cable, a powered usb hub, reinstall OS X from scratch.

  • USB Port Shut off

    At least three times over the last several days, I've encountered a frozen cursor, after the computer has been sitting idle for a while. Neither my external mouse nor keyboard function, otherwise the computer seems to work ok. I assume that this is caused by a non-functioning USB port. Only way to clear the problem is to restart, which I have to do from the power button on the MacBook. How do I fix this problem? I've turned on the Console so I can capture the event associated with this problem. If I capture this event, what is the Apple address to send it to?

    Perhaps you can figure out a good course of action after reading this: [MacBook Service: Frequently Asked Questions|http://www.apple.com/support/macbook/service>

  • Cisco 504G PC port shuts down periodically

    I have a customer with a Cisco 504g that the PC port periodically stops working. Usually rebooting the phone fixes the issue, but today it doesn't seem to be the case. The phone is running Software Version: 7.5.3. If he plugs his computer into any other phone or wall outlet he gets internet just fine. I have found a few articles that state they are having the same issue, but no for sure fix.
    I am going to change out the customers phone with another 504g with 7.5.3 running on it as a quick fix.
    I have had this issue a number of times with other customers and I was wondering if you had found a fix for the PC port issue. It is a hassle to have to reboot the phone every time this happens.

  • Shutting off port

    I have a USB hub which is plugged into Pci 6-7 ( not sure until I pull case apart), I am using the Deck keyboard which really has bright keypads and a mouse that has led lights. My problem is the lights on keyboard and mouse never shut off when the computer is off. Is there a way to have the ports shut off when the computer is off?
    Thanks for any help.

    Do you have I-Charger or Super-Charger loaded & enabled? Maybe a Power Option setting that keeps the ports enabled? Is the hub self powered?

  • USB shut down - too much power drawn

    Hi
    Yesterday when trying to connect my Canon EOS350D to my MBP, I changed the camera settings.
    Then, a message appeared on the MBP saying something like "A device is drawing too much power from the USB port - shutting down the bus".
    I figured it was temporary. Seems it's permanent. Many reboots and resets (PMU) later, no USB device that I own will work in any port in any way.
    Any ideas? I am fairly tech literate but this is my first Mac. All up to date.
    Thanks
    Dom

    OK - It seems to have been fixed.
    I called Apple, and they did a PRAM reset. When we restarted, still no joy, so we did a full hardware scan.
    This came up clean. They passed me on to a product specialist, but I had to go to work.
    Then, tonight, it works. Powered USB, data, all as new.
    So, I guess if this happens to you, do a PRAM reset and reboot a couple of times.
    Cheers

  • Switchport port-security on Routers ?

    Hi All,
    Wanting to restrict LAN ports on a 857 router to particular MAC addresses.
    But the router doesn’t support the switchport command at all.
    So tried on 1800 series and though it does support "switchport”, it doesn’t support "switchport port-security"
    Is there a particular router model that does or any other way around implementing a solution where if a rogue device plugs into the router the port shuts down?
    thanks,
    Ivan

    Hi,
    Switchport port-security as the name implies is to be configured on switchport. VLAN interface on the switch is a routed interface and hence, you can't apply any switchport configuration on it and that includes, port security.

  • Vibe 3.4 SSL link shutting down after 2-3 minutes of use

    I have a strange issue on a vibe 3.4 installation on SLES 11.3
    Vibe is installed using the default configuration and the port mapping is
    also configured as standard and works well for internal and external access.
    However the https:// secure link only works for 2 -3 minutes after
    the"/etc/init.d/teaming start" command then the port shuts down preventing
    any further secure links. The normal http:// links continues to work fine.
    The problem is we are trying to use the office integrations which only allow
    a https:// link
    There is something on the server that shuts the secure port 8443 down after
    2-3 minutes of operation
    Can anyone please give me some help as to where to start looking for the
    cause of this.
    Thanks
    Mark Behrens

    Mark,
    you can try other solution. It uses bouncycastle library.
    1. Check Java installation (you can have more on one machine) configured in Vibe. In file /opt/novell/teaming/teaming-config/installer.xml you can find:
    <JDK JAVA_HOME="/usr/lib/java/latest" type="Sun"/>
    2. Download file https://www.bouncycastle.org/downloa...dk15on-151.jar and copy it into [java]/lib/ext and [java]/jre/lib/ext (probably you have only of them, it's ok).
    3. Edit file [java]/lib/security/java.security and [java]/jre/lib/security/java.security (you have probably only one of them).
    find:
    security.provider.1=sun.security.provider.Sun
    security.provider.2=sun.security.rsa.SunRsaSign
    security.provider.3=sun.security.ec.SunEC
    security.provider.4=com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.P rovider
    security.provider.5=com.sun.crypto.provider.SunJCE
    security.provider.6=sun.security.jgss.SunProvider
    security.provider.7=com.sun.security.sasl.Provider
    security.provider.8=org.jcp.xml.dsig.internal.dom. XMLDSigRI
    security.provider.9=sun.security.smartcardio.SunPC SC
    security.provider.10=sun.security.mscapi.SunMSCAPI
    and replace it with:
    security.provider.1=sun.security.provider.Sun
    security.provider.2=org.bouncycastle.jce.provider. BouncyCastleProvider
    security.provider.3=sun.security.rsa.SunRsaSign
    security.provider.4=sun.security.ec.SunEC
    security.provider.5=com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider
    security.provider.6=com.sun.crypto.provider.SunJCE
    security.provider.7=sun.security.jgss.SunProvider
    security.provider.8=com.sun.security.sasl.Provider
    security.provider.9=org.jcp.xml.dsig.internal.dom.XMLDSigRI
    security.provider.10=sun.security.smartcardio.SunPCSC
    security.provider.11=sun.security.mscapi.SunMSCAPI
    Restart Vibe and test all again.

  • Tungsten 5 can't sync, port is used by another application message

    When I try to Hot Sync, an error message say Hot Sync can't happen, because the port is in use by another application.  Before this, I had to reset the Palm and now there is no data on it.  Help!   Lauraflavin
    Post relates to: Tungsten T5

    I'm assuming you're using a Serial port connection for your Palm, correct?
    Check your computer for anything that might be using COM1 - Fax software, modem software, even XP Media Center has an option to monitor the phone line to announce Caller ID.
    If you find something else using that port shut it down.

  • Will tiger revive my firewire ports?

    (this is a repost of a question I posed on Imac CRT - I thought that this may be a more relevant place to post it)
    I have a G3 600MHz - early 2001 blue CRT running Jaguar. (I updated my firmware properly before putting Jaguar on [update - I am not sure about this and will retry this today]).
    The hard disk is getting filled and my new Lacie firewire external drive won't mount. I noticed last year thaat my kid's Ipod would not mount via firewire on the G3, but I had not used the ports since buying the computer. Both devices connect readily to my G4 laptop, so they work. The G3 firewire ports appear to work - both devices appear in the G3 system profiler (by name) but not in the disk utility (nor on the desktop of course, making them unusable).
    I have read quite a bit about this problem and done many of the recommended steps - I have pinged the PRAM and reset the PMU but have had no luck. I recently read that updating to Tiger can revive these ports as Tiger communicates differently with firewire devices (the Lacie help had heard this, too). Have any experts there heard this?

    Try this:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=88338
    Scroll down to the bottom for resetting the ports:
    "Shut down the computer.
    Disconnect all FireWire devices and all other cables, except the keyboard and mouse cable(s).
    Disconnect the computer from the power outlet and wait for 3 to 5 minutes.
    Plug the computer back in and turn it on.
    Reconnect the FireWire device(s) (one at a time if there is more than one) and test. Test with each FireWire port if you have more than one."
    If that fails then installing Tiger might help. It could be some piece of software for Firewire support is missing or damaged and Tiger will reinstall it.
    Make sure you download the latest driver from Lacie.

  • Shutdown port with CiscoView - cisco prime LMS4.2

    Buenos dias.
    No puedo realizar ninguna actividad con los puertos a traves del cisco view. me sale un error.
    Message
    Cannot access the required SNMP object due to restricted SNMP view setting.
    Ya configuré en el sw cisco la version snmp3.
    Good morning.
    I can not perform any activity through the ports cisco view. I get an error.
    Message
    Can not access the required SNMP object due to restricted SNMP view setting.
    Since I configured the cisco sw version snmp3.

    Your question as a double aspect and sides:
    1. Can you retrict access to help-desk users from device side?
    2. Can this be retricted from LMS point of view.
    Answers:
    Possible from both the ways :
    1. From device side, you need to configure SNMP view for the only MIB you want access to help-desk and associate it to the community string (snmp v2) or password (snmp v3) they'll use.
    For example, as per your last configuration :
    snmp-server view Bg123456 iso included
    Coinfigure it with only MIB required for this operations:
    snmp-server view Bg123456 <mib_name> included
    Example :
    snmp-server view Bg123456 iso excluded
    snmp-server view Bg123456 ifMib included
    **ifMIB is needed to do the interface operations, like port shut or no shut etc.
    2. From LMS point of view you can configure the user profiles and give them custom authorizations. It is known as user role. A role is a collection of privileges that dictate the type of system access you have. The Manage User Roles workflow allows you to add, edit, copy and delete user-defined roles in LMS.

  • IPhone no longer recognized by PC, won't show up in itunes

    I've had my iPhone for months and it always worked and synced perfectly with my HP computer running XP. Last night out of the blue when I plugged it into the usb 2.0 port I always use, it stopped recognizing it. It gives me a message that there's an unknown device and shortly after that the device has malfunctioned. I know the iPhone is fine because when I plug it into my notebook it recognizes it and tries to sync right away. I tried different ports, shut down and restarted the computer a half dozen times, reinstalled itunes 8.0.1.11, gone into the device manager and removed the unknown device and tried again but nothing works. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
