Port with multi-vlan for voice and data??

Hi guys,
I've a situation where my VOIP and DATA on a different segments. Voice is 10.x.x.x riding on VLAN 701. And my data is 192.x.x.x riding on VLAN 100.
The problem occur when our receptionist PC have a software installed for call forwarding for our general line. This software need to be on the same vlan with the IP Phone vlan which is 701. If I put her PC on those vlan, she can't access
to our LAN which is vlan 100. So she can't check her email etc.
Can I know what is the options I have? Can I configured multi-vlan for her PC on the switch? We are using Cisco PoE 3560 switch. Thanks.

Hi,
on the L3 switch, you should have an IP address for both VLAN 701 and 100. So, the L3 switch is doing inter-VLAN routing.
This means, unless you have ACL blocking traffic, any device will be able to reach any other device, even on a different VLAN.
And, no matter where you put voice and applications, everything will work anyway.

  • Vlan for voice and vlan for data with diferent ISP best choice of config??

    Hello everyone,
    Im, Oscar
At our company we have a redundant ISP connection to two separate ISP's.
We are also using VoIP on the network.
Currently one ISP connection is used primarily and the second on is just used as a backup.
I was wondering if it is possible to use the first connection primarily for data traffic and the second connection for VoIP traffic?
We use different VLAN's for voice and data.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, for egress.  Ingress is "it depends".
You could also consider using both links for both kinds of traffic.

  • Separate vlan for Voice and Video

I'm implementing a Polycom HDX9002 video conf codec into my network (point to point). What is the prefered method, do I segregate the traffic with another VLAN or use the existing Voice VLAN at both sites.
    Thanks

Voice vlan is fine. What really matters, is QoS in the WAN.

  • Question about voice and data plan for Europe

I am in New York and my boss is going to France for a week and a half. He told me he will not have access to the internet there. He asked me to find out if it would be possible to get a voice and data plan for the month that he will be there, and if so, could someone show me where I could look at the different plans available?
If it's not possible to do that for just a month, then could someone tell me where I could find the rates are for voice and data in France?
    Thanks

    Hi kevindrosario,
I appreciate your interest in our International Services.  France, is a GSM country and will only support a Global capable device. Unfortunately, its not clear if your boss has a Global capable device.  If so, here are the details for the voice and data rates for France.
If your boss doesn't not have a Global capable device, no worries!  We offer an Occasional Global Traveler program, in which we will loan you a Global device for up to 21 days.  I hope this information is helpful.  Please let me know if you have any any additional questions or concerns.
    Thank you,

  • Adtran with voice and data port

I have an ADTRAN (remote location) with a voice and data port (internet). Does the ethernet port plugs into a serial or ethernet interface?
The provider is telling me to plugg it into a hub...I've never heard of that and was curious if anyone has implemented this configuration before.

    Options are limited but include.
    1. Get a new SIM card from AT&T and reset your voicemail, see if that helps.
    2. Reset your iPhone (holding down the top button and home button for ~10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen).
    3. Restore your iPhone. If restoring from backup does nothing then next try restore as new and start over.
    4. If nothing else works then call Apple or go to an Apple store and they will replace it.

  • Configure Voice and Data VLAN in CISCO SF 300 8P

I have a couple of Cisco SF 300 8P and 24 P Switches. I have voice and Data VLAN configured as :
    Data VLAN : Default 145.17.59.0/24
    Voice VLAN : VLAN 20 172.22.20.0/24
I have different DHCP servers as for Data VLAN we have physical server which is configured for 145.17.59.* IP Scope and Voice VLAN DHCP Server is configured in Gateway router with option 150.
This configuation works fine with other cisco swiches like 2960 and 3750 etc except CISCO SF 300 8P and 24P. I was trying to configure both voice and Data VLAN in these CISCO Switches so that CISCO phone (Model 6941) shold get IP from Voice VLAN and PC should get IP from Data VLAN DHCP Server. I have tried several techniques like LLDP, Port to VLAN Config etc.
Can anyone please guide me/help on this.
    Regards,
    A K.M.Sayeed

Hi A.K.M., with Cisco phones you should be able to simply set auto voice VLAN to be VLAN20.
    voice vlan id 20
You should ensure CDP and/or LLDP are enabled as well. I would check this in web GUI. DHCP for the phones can come from the switch, a DHCP server on a VLAN20 access port or you can use dhcp helper to redirect DHCP to server elsewhere.
If you prefer or have issues with CDP or LLDP you can also program ports as trunks and add tagged VLAN 20 to them.  In this scenario you need to insure inter-vlan routing is working and that phones download config file with corrrect VLAN config.
These switches do not run ios so they are similar but different than catalyst switches you referred to.

  • Vlans, voice and data

I am implementing voip, we want to plug the pc into the phone and make both see the network but yet they are on different vlans, how does the port know which data is for voice and what data is for the pc ? do you enable the port to see both vlans by the swithport mode command, or does the port only go into 1 vlan ? At the moment we have vlan 200 and vlan 1, We have just plugged the phones in vlan 200 and pc's in vlan 1 but at the moment they are in seperate ports, I want to know what we will have to to when we plug both phone and pc into one port ?
    thanks
    Carlos
    thanks

    Hi Carl,
Nops not at all this is not the normal way to configure ip phone and pc together to a switchport. Infact on switches with current code and mostaly all the switches you cannot configure 2 dats vlan on same port like you are doing now.
If you give switchport voice vlan 200 and switch port access vlan 1 then they are 2 different kind of vlans and will work on same port.
Now when you give switchport access vlan 1 means there will be no tag and it is justa frame without any tagging and saying it belongs to vlan 1 as as it reaches the switchport it gets pvid of vlan 1.
When you configure switchport voice vlan 200 it will be a tagged vlan. Because ip phones are switches itlsef as soon as you give voice vlan command it will form an internal trunk and start sending voice data on tagged with vlan 200 and switchport will understand that tagged traffic and will come to know it is for vlan 200 and voice traffic,

  • Passing voice and data Vlans on Cisco SG200-08P help

    Hello All,
I'm struggling with a configuration issue on the Cisco SG200-08P.
We are using the Cisco SG200-08P on a mobile cart that will go from class room to class room that will have computer and cisco Voip phone plugged into it. The issue is that each of our closets are in differnt VLANS ( 1 voice and 1 data....lets say data vlan 20 and voice vlan 2025 for conversation) and that we route to each closet.
It would be great if I could just create a generic data and voice vlan to dynamically pick up what the upstream switch has however, it seems that I've been unsuccessful in doing so.
So far I can pass the data Vlan no probablem. The upstream switch port is set to access port and a switch port access voice vlan (these are 3750x switches)
If the above is not possible I guess I will take what I can get. Should I just create data vlan 20 and voice vlan2025 on the Cisco SG200-08P and make a trunk port on the Cisco SG200-08P and a trunk on the 3750x? Is there an option on the Cisco SG200-08P to tag voice traffic?
I'm also concerned with VTP and I did not see an area in the Cisco SG200-08P to set that as a client and transparent mode.
    Thanks for any help,
    Dan

On a Catalyst switch, when a port is defined as a trunk without a vlan specified on the port, all vlan pass through the port. On a small business switch it is nearly the opposite. You must specify the vlans on the links. Additionally, ingress filter discards anything not associated to the port.
802.1q specifies there must be an untagged vlan which is the native vlan (of course you can make exceptions, tagging the default vlan..).
One thing I did in the past with a 2960, I made an LLDP network policy and it basically "provisioned" the downstream switch connecting link and voice vlan. That may be another idea for you.

  • Would Verizon support concurrent voice and data for 4S?

With the absence of 4G in 4S - this would be at least something to be happy about...

I would not be that sure, knowing that Thinderbolt could do it over 3G:
    http://phandroid.com/2011/01/26/simultaneous-voice-and-data-over-3g-confirmed-for-htc-thunderbolt/
Sounds like it should be only a matter of enabling it by the carrier, provided the hw supports it.
C'mon VZW, I'll even accept partial data speeds!

  • I have a BE6000 server, is it possible to me to make it do a DHCP for both voice and data? Kindly guide me through

I have a BE6000 server, is it possible for me to make it do a DHCP for both voice and data? Kindly guide me through. Thanks

CUCM can perform DHCP functions, but it's not meant to replace this functionality from a router or switch, which are the most common places to configure DHCP.
I assume you'll have at least one of those, why not configure it there??

  • Request: Auto toggle between edge and 3g anteanna for voice vs. data

I would like to see the edge antenna take priority for voice, then auto toggle 3G when surfing GPS and so on. I have a hunch this toggling would improve battery like. I think the Treo works in this fashion. Where does that nify link reside?

Not to be argumentative but this isn't correct.
When your iPhone says 3G it means that it is using UMTS (W-CDMA) for both Voice and Data connections. This is a very different protocol and works over different frequencies than GSM.
When your iPhone says EDGE then it is using the GSM network for Voice on a GSM Cell that supports EDGE specific data enhancements to increase data throughput over normal GSM data (GPRS).
Finally when your iPhone doesn't say EDGE or 3G then it is on a GSM Cell that doesn't support the EDGE data enhancements.
So really the 3G iPhone has to choose between two different Cellular technologies, 2G (GSM) or 3G (UMTS) and the device can't communicate on both of these technologies at the same time.
Have a read of the wiki pages for more information:
    UMTS (WCDMA): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WCDMA
    GSM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSM
    Hope this clears things up.

  • 802.1x per host authentication under one port with multi-host access by hub

    Dear,
While multi-host connect to one port by hub, it seems that in multi-host mode, after one host passed the authentication, the port change state to up, and the other hosts do not need to authenticate any more. And in single host mode, only one host could access to the network under one port.
In the situation with multi-host access to one port by hub, is it possible that we could control per user access by authentication for each?
We did some test on 3550, it seems that the 3550 doesnot support what we need. And what about 4506?
    Thanks!

    Multiauthentication Mode
Available in Cisco IOS Release 12.2(33)SXI and later releases, multiauthentication (multiauth) mode allows one 802.1X/MAB client on the voice VLAN and multiple authenticated 802.1X/MAB/webauth clients on the data VLAN. When a hub or access point is connected to an 802.1X port (as shown in Figure 60-5), multiauth mode provides enhanced security over the multiple-hosts mode by requiring authentication of each connected client. For non-802.1X devices, MAB or web-based authentication can be used as the fallback method for individual host authentications, which allows different hosts to be authenticated through different methods on a single port.
Multiauth also supports MDA functionality on the voice VLAN by assigning authenticated devices to either a data or voice VLAN depending on the data that the VSAs received from the authentication server.
Release 12.2(33)SXJ and later releases support the assignment of a RADIUS server-supplied VLAN in multiauth mode, by using the existing commands and when these conditions occur:
•The host is the first host authorized on the port, and the RADIUS server supplies VLAN information.
•Subsequent hosts are authorized with a VLAN that matches the operational VLAN.
•A host is authorized on the port with no VLAN assignment, and subsequent hosts either have no VLAN assignment, or their VLAN information matches the operational VLAN.
•The first host authorized on the port has a group VLAN assignment, and subsequent hosts either have no VLAN assignment, or their group VLAN matches the group VLAN on the port. Subsequent hosts must use the same VLAN from the VLAN group as the first host. If a VLAN list is used, all hosts are subject to the conditions specified in the VLAN list.
•After a VLAN is assigned to a host on the port, subsequent hosts must have matching VLAN information or be denied access to the port.
•The behavior of the critical-auth VLAN is not changed for multiauth mode. When a host tries to authenticate and the server is not reachable, all authorized hosts are reinitialized in the configured VLAN.
    NOTE :
•Only one voice VLAN is supported on a multiauth port.
•You cannot configure a guest VLAN or an auth-fail VLAN in multiauth mode.

  • Verizon iPhone 5s - in UK - enabled Global voice and data plan (pay as you go) - no service

Situation is as stated in the title.  I have taken my iPhone 5S from the US to the UK, and before leaving I added the free pay as you go global feature to my plan.  However, now that I am here, the phone says "No Service" and I can do nothing with it related to voice or data unless I am on WiFi.  Live Chat is not working.  I tried dialing the 800 number from my international flip phone and it cannot recognize my push button menu selection tones and so hangs up on me (no provision for accessing a customer service rep or vioce recognition).
Any thoughts on how I can get my phone up and running while I am here?

Hi there, bob_e_iphone5s! I'm terribly sorry to see you're having trouble with service while travelling abroad. It's true that you'll have difficulty reaching our Customer Care team with the 800 number. But you can use this link http://vz.to/1k7RFqd to reach our Global Services team. There's even a number you can use to call from international locations, toll free!

  • Why does Verizon hide the fact on their network an iPhone cannot deliver simultaneous voice and data

For me the breaking point was when the local Corporate Store clerk lied to be about their return policy.  He even documented the information he gave me and that didn't matter to management or corporate.  I made a decision to switch to the iPhone and was specifically told I had 30 days to evaluate weather I could make the transition from android to iOS.  If I couldn’t for any reason, I could just return the phone and pay the $35 restocking fee and we were then free to choose from one of the many androids.
After weeks of challenges and countless hours spent with first tier then second tier then a product specialist we all came to the documented conclusion that the iPhone, on Verizons network could not support data and voice at the same time... Every other smart phone on Verizons network could and always has... the IPhone on ATT's network can support both voice and data at once... but Not On Verizons network...
Each tech I spoke with seemed shocked and in utter disbelief that this could be so. They blamed ATT for harboring special privileges hold over from their exclusive relationship with Apple.  Which is not true.  Then they blamed Apple for delivering handicapped phones to Verizon on purpose. Well, with an Apple Product Manager on the phone listening in on a Verizon Tech giving me this among other excuses why I could not be on the phone and using google at the same time,  the Apple Rep finally jumped in and very politely cleared up any miss information the Verizon tier 2 support rep was fumbling out.
So after I had done everything in my power to make the phone work the way I had understood it would.  And had every reason to believe it would.  As did every Verizon rep I spoke with at first until they did a little research and found Verizon had deliberately been hiding this fact from customers.  So I conceded to go back to the Android world for now and let Verizon sort out this glaring deficit hopefully in the near future…  Though every support rep concluded that there was no mention of this being fixed or even a problem so not to hold my breath…
I couldn’t have been more shocked or infuriated when I went to exchange the “still in the plastic mint condition iPhone” I was told I had to have brought it back in the first 14 days… I pleaded and argued, even directed the manager to the notes entered in verizon’s own support documentation regarding my case and he said “well I see here where you were told that but that rep was wrong”.   That may be so but I based my entire testing and evaluation timeline based on the dates the rep clearly and admittedly told me!   The store manager said there was nothing he could do.
Now I mentioned I’m a Network Solutions Provider and being able to be on the phone doing a support call and using my cellular internet at the same time are an absolute must for me to be able to preform my job.  Every Verizon smart phone I have ever owned had been able to do this.  Now I am told I am STUCK in a two year contract with an inadequate  device that I cannot exchange and therefore functionally useless to me.
Verizon corporate nor the store manager cared one bit about my position.  They stood behind a little register tape that by signing my credit card receipt I now owed them two more years of my life and now they could care less weather I had a functioning solution or that I had been a loyal customer for over 17 years. Or that I had brought entire small business offices to them for cell services. Just stood there and held a copy of my receipt and said, well  you signed it so here is what it will cost ya to get out of it!
He got out a calculator and started running numbers for what I would have to pay to fix this situation… What I would have to pay to even leave Verizon and go get cell service from someone else.  It felt dirty … seedy… like being at some 3rd world used car lot where some shyster had gotten someone wrapped up in a contract and now was going to squeeze the life out of a customer even though they couldn’t’ even deliver the service they implied you were going to get in the first place.
In 30 years of being a small business owner I have never encountered an organization that had less integrity or more unscrupulous business practices…
I see post after post of Verizon  Customer Support  reps answering threads… funny I haven’t found one where a user honestly thanks the rep for actually helping them out…….  Please Verizon Customer Support, show me you actually can look at a situation and see an equitable solution where a Customer and the Share Holders can both win…..

Well if this information was as ubiquitous on the web as you suggest, I am puzzled why it took three weeks of troubleshooting with many levels of Verizon support before we collectively concluded this was the situation...
Regarding Reading what I sign... Thanks for that advice though in this situation I was handed a stylus and told to sign a Signature Pad at the check out counter... ONLY AFTER I signed (for the purchase only)  was I presented with this return policy conveniently nested in a 3 foot long reciept consisting of paragraphs of Helvitica 6 type set info...   I made the assumption that the sales person could correctly  answer a direct question regarding the policy I  inadvertently signed for when authorizing the credit card charge...   Even more concerning is that when by my actions and constant communications with Verizon, my intent was clearly based on the information I had gotten from the sales rep.  and if I was given misinformation it would seem Verizon could show some integrity and support the situation with some equitable solution rather than hiding behind contracts collected from sales staff who do not tell customers the truth.....
