  • Xcode buries /usr/bin/gcc deep beneath Xcode.app/Content/Developer

How do I get GCC, and the rest of the compiler utilities that come with Xcode to show up in the standard /usr/bin directory?
I downloaded and installed Xcode from the Apple App store.  When the installation completed, Xcode had buried the standard compiler components that are typically in /usr/bin deep under the Applications directory at /Applications/Xcode.app/Content/Developer/usr/bin.
This is Xcode 5.0 (5A1413) and OS 10.8.5.

    A.Rick wrote:
I am attempting to use a variety of tools that assume on a traditional Unix/Linux environment, such as Maven, Eclipse, CUDA etc.  The fact that a Mac has a real Unix underneath all that makeup was a key factor in my purchase decision.
There is nothing "traditional Unix" about those tools. I didn't even know what Maven was. It is apparently some Java thing. I can assure you that UNIX predates Java by many years. UNIX is nothing but a certification that is applied on top of an operating system. It can't really be said that the Mac has a "real Unix underneath". The Mac is a certified UNIX operating system and has a command-line and POSIX interface, but underneath it is just as Mac as it appears - i.e. not Linux.
I have the tools that I am after.  They are just in the wrong place.  Having a tool, with a different name, that acts like GCC, or Make, etc. doesn't help me when the build environment that I am working with assumes the original Unix tool.
So, is it true that the only way I that will be able to get the orignal behavior is to copy everything that is beneath /Applications/Xcode.app/Content/Developer/usr/bin up to the real /usr/bin?
Depending on your operating system, you may be able to have Xcode just install command-line tools. I think Mavericks will install them automatically (if you try to use them) even without Xcode. You can also download the command-line tools installer package from the Apple Developer site.
To quote the GNU folks, GNU's not UNIX. If you want to use GNU tools, you will have to ask the GNU people to port them to the Mac. They have never, ever completely done that. GNU has always relied in some form on lower-level Xcode tools. Then, once GNU kicked Apple to the curb with GPLv3, Apple wrote its own compiler. You can use the command-line as much as you want, but the commands are going to be slightly different that what you are used to on Linux.
If you want to use Linux, then you should use Linux. The Mac is different. I think it is better than Linux. The Linux people disagree.

  • Can I port content from one pdf form to another, from within the form fields?

WE have been given a seasonal update to our pdf forms - with one new additional form field. Is there a way that I can port all the content from my ready filled form into this new one, without having to copy and paste each individual field?
    Thanks.

What is it that you want to do
    - you are the form filler; you want to keep the contents of a filled in form (and put them back into a changed form)?
    - you are the person responsible for adding/changing form fields; you want to keep the design and location of the form fields while changing the underlying PDF?
    - both of these?

Parallel threads are easy in Labview.  You just create two loops where the output of either loop is not connected to the input of the other.  Without this data dependency, the two loops run in parallel.  See the attached vi, my producer-consumer template.  Replace the random number generator in the top loop with your serial port code.  Put your other processing code in the bottom loop.  Use the queue to pass info from one loop to the other.  You can signal the lower loop when the serial port receiving is done by putting something on the queue that signifies the completion (like a "done" string).  Your lower loop will constantly check the queue, looking for the "done" string.  You can use a boolean if you remove the string wires and replace them with boolean types.
Bytes at Port will look at the serial port buffer and report the number of bytes sitting there waiting to be read.  Call it before you read, and pass the number from bytes at port to the read function.  Search the LV examples for serial port and you will see how bytes at port is used.

If you want to move into SAP EP Development then TEPD10 and TEPD20 would be more suitable to you.
EP100,200.. will help you have a better grip on the configuration side of EP and KMC.
Visual composer is a very easy Drag and Drop tool - should not be a problem to learn - you can check the weblogs and docs on SDN to learn that.
       Happy Learning.

  • Development in ECC 6.0

    Hi Friends,
We are implementing the SAP 6.0 version. I have heard that the development in ECC 6.0 should be done completely in java. Is that true?
If that is the case what are the option that ECC 6.0 has to develop reports in java accessing the Sap database.
Can some one please help me with this?
    Regards,
    Ramesh

    Ramesh ,
There are several approches to your problem . Before that let me say , "ECC 6.0 should be done completely in java " is not a right assumption because ECC is built on ABAP stack so the application / programs within the ECC should be developed in ABAP .
Coming to your problem , if you want to develop reports in java accessing the backend SAP ECC , as per the NW04s , you could have a look at the following IT scenario
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/f5/416c4255b3c553e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
The easiest method is using visual composer , pls have a look at this
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/44/6bb4dfce353673e10000000a114a6b/content.htm
More complex application can be developed using webdynpro technology ( again you could use webdynpro for java or abap ) as apposed to SAP 's earlier approach ( using HTMLB , JSP , JSPDynpage etc - Abstract component etc.... mentioned by sukanto will be in this category  ). Webdynpro is the strategcal UI development technology for SAP because of its numerous advantages

And finally , this is the SAP's very latest approach using ESA/ SOA methodology using composite appication .

    Where to download VC?
    Visual Composer as Modelling Tool
Models designed in Visual Composer can be deployed to run in one or more technology engines, including SAP HTML/B and Flex. The same model can be deployed to more than one environment, although not all components and controls are fully supported in each. Visual Composer implements a proprietary XML-based Visual Composer Language as its source code for creating the models. Only at deployment is the model actually compiled into the executable code required by the selected UI technology. The result is a model once run
anywhere capability. The models that you build in Visual Composer are generated in Generic Modeling Language (GML) code. To deploy your application to a portal, the GML code
must be compiled into a language supported by the portal. During compilation, warnings and possible errors may be discovered, enabling you to check the model validity. The compiled content is deployed directly to the portal, in the runtimeenvironment that you select. In runtime, transactional content can run through HTML/B and Flex, while
analytic content which may require a more animated environment may run through Flex. The models deployed by Visual Composer to the portal include runtime metadata, which is stored with the model in the PCD and exported in the business package, for delivery to customers.

  • How to start of with Oracle HCM fusion applications to gain good grasp on the technology

I have been working in Siebel for a long time and I am currently moving to Oracle Fusion HCM application.I would like to know the best way to start up with it and I would also like to know the possible way to go about it so that having 7years of experience I can justify my knowledge in this technology and skill.Could anyone please guide me as to how to go about it.What are the things i should start from and how should i go about it,what forums to follow, what online tutorials to look at.
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi.
There are loads of resources out there, but with so many it can be hard to know where to begin. Obviously we cover just Customization-Integration related areas not the whole stack. I don't have anything specific to your Siebel background, however hopefully these "top pick" recommendations will help you. My personal advice is to pick one topic or technical component at a time, because trying to learn everything at once quickly becomes overwhelming.
    1) Chapter 2 of my book, now a few years old, gives a Technical Overview of the stack. Get it for free here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/managing-fusion-apps-418611.pdf
    2) Oracle Learning Library is a good resource for demos and well-crafted content on many topics. Use the search to find Fusion Apps content: https://apexapps.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=44785:2:0::NO:::
    3) Whilst it might seem predictable, our online help is the intended content for getting started. This was overhauled recently and the new layout really helps. Both the product docs and the help portal content is very well written by our experts. Getting Started with Oracle Fusion Applications Lifecycle Management Release 9
    4) The MyOracleSupport site has quite a few bits of content on technology component usage inside Fusion Apps. Look for the "Information Centers" for applications technology or BI for example where you'll find lost of top content listed by category.
I am also working on some "resource roadmaps" - a tool to give people to all key resources for a topic in a quick and visual way. Keep an eye on our blog for more here.
    Kind regards
