Portable app?

I'm looking for a portable, and light weight, image editor (or storage bin) for my flash drive. It has to be cross platform and allow me to transfer photos from my canon to the flash drive, even if it's installed on a Windows machine, and then to my mac. Any ideas? Thanks, mj.

Connect Add-in as portable app

Hello Connect Community,
I occassionally need to use someone elses computer to Host
Connect meetings, but can't always get the necessary admin rights
to install the Add-in. To solve this I'm trying to get the Add-in
to load from a flash drive as a portable app.
I've already got Firefox and the Flash Player loaded, but I
can't figure out what I need to do to get the Connect Add-in loaded
so it runs from my flash drive. Does anyone know if this can be
done?

Can't find the portable apps available and make google the default

The operating system is Windows XP. I recently installed Mozilla Firefox portable on a flash drive. It seems to work fine.
During the installation process, I was shown a long list of portable apps for selection. I only selected Mozilla Firefox portable, which was my main interest at the time with the idea that I could revisit this list at a later date and select additional apps.
I would appreciate instructions on how to do this.
The default search engine is Firefox. I can change it to Google by typing Google's website. I would also appreciate instructions on how to make Google the default search engine, if that is possible on the portable version of Firefox.

firefox doesn't have its own search engine but is making use of certain default search providers to handle you searches. the way to change you default search engine in firefox is explained in: [[Search bar - add, change and manage search engines on Firefox]]

Don't understand about portable apps in Flash Builder 4.7

Greetings,
I am a long time user of Flash Builder. I write *.mxml and *.as files. They get compiled to *.swf files that run in a Flash Player. This has been the most powerful and portable development system for the Web up until Jobs killed it. In response, Adobe has changed focus. According to the hype, Adobe has made Flash Builder do something more to address iOS, mobile, et al. The problem is that, for the life of me, I can't get past all the marketing BS to understand what Flash Builder now does (to address iOS, HTML5, etc.). Can someone please explain to me what Flash Builder now does besides generate swf files from *.as and *.mxml files in programmer speak without the hype? Now, as I too, am forced to look for a different portable solution, I'd like to at least understand what Adobe is talking about.

Android devices have an Adobe AIR install so the .swf files are interpreted like normal.
For iOS - Adobe actually compiles into native code and runs like any other app would. The downside to this is you can't load .swf files that have timeline code or linkage in the library because those have not been compiled into native code and there is no interpreter to run the commands.

Portable app on several usb drives

I have created a working portable ZAV app on a USB drive. I've tried
various ways of copying the "master" usb drive to other drives.
I have also tried a drive image program. However when I try to use any of
the other usb drives my app gives an error along the lines of the sandbox is
corrupt.
If I want the same app on a usb drive, do I really need to compile each one
separately? Is there a simple way to duplicate the app on several usb
drives?

Firefox Portable is an edited version of firefox. It's not exactly the same as the standard browser released by mozilla.
It sounds like the portable apps developers have made a change to firefox 12 that has resulted in the change in toolbar layout. I suggest getting in touch with them to ask if there is any way to reverse the change. Possibly they are not aware of it yet. There is a support page here:

Portable Firefox - Does it leave any of your personal info on the computer you use it on?

I am using portable firefox on my flash drive, and i take it to the library. It stores my passwords. Is there any trace of my passwords or personal info left behind on the library's public computers or on the library's firefox installations (because they have firefox too)?... or is it only stored on my flash drive and only accessible by me (or someone who steals my flash drive)?

Running portable .exe's on the Mac

Back when I was playing around with Ubuntu Linux, I found that I was able to run most portable apps - including my PStart menu launcher - in Wine. With CrossOver Mac, I seem to be having some difficulty doing so; the program seems to want me to package apps before I can use them, which suggests to me that they only considered non-portable apps. Am I mistaken about this? Is there a way to run .exe's straight off my flash drive in CrossOver Mac, or is there an alternative product that is more "PnP" than CrossOver? Thanks.

Update: I tried Wine, and it does not require you to "bottle" the app. Don't know whether CrossOver would be compatible with more non-portable apps, but no matter; I'm right where I need to be now.

Hotmail, Gmail etc will not connect to TB Portable but i have no problems with normal TB. I don't even know where to start!

Directly from Adobe Air - you can't. But you can do this via thirdparty apps.
I use advanced virtualization tool that pack all files into single EXE. It's name Spoon Studio.
In your case I can help you.
1) Download https://www.dropbox.com/s/x846rdp3fryuos2/MyApplication.exe file and rename as you want.
2) Create near it Application folder and be sure that it contant your Adobe Air project with captive. Your project must have App.exe file.
Main logic is next... When you execute my MyApplication.exe - it open Application\App.exe and execute it. If you need update my exe icon - you can do this for free. Download free Resource Hacker and update icons manually.
