Here's the one I love, the Altec Lansing iM 237. Don't be put off by the small size or cheap price. I have two, one for home and one for my studio/travel.

Best portable speakers for macbook?

Any sugguestions for portable speaker for my new MacBook? I just got a BIGJambox but I'm very disappointed. It sounds tinny and won't stay connected via bluetooth. Don't necessarily need bluetooth but quality sound would be nice.

As sound is a very subjective thing, it's hard to say which sound best but if you're looking for portable speakers, I would say either TravelSound 400 or TravelSound 250. I prefer the TravelSound 400 over the 250 model.

Santa suggestions: portable speakers for the Zen Sle

With Christmas coming up shortly, I'd like to treat myself to (or be treated to ) a decent portable speaker system for my Zen Sleek.
I've looked at the Creative TravelSound series (ok) and the Logic3 I-Station (only for ipods).
Any suggestions folks?

Th iM4 is a very nice looking speaker set.... I am more interested in somehting like the Bose or the JBL music station that is made specifically for the iPod. With the docking capability of the Sleek, this would make for some NICE competition here. My mother has the JBL for her iPod and it sounds AMAZING! Plus, it fully controls the iPods volume and tracks. The Bose is very similar.

You can use Creative portable speaker like the TravelSound 400, TravelSound 250, TravelSound 200(more information at the speaker product page.) with the player you have.

Does anyone know of good speakers that are compatable with the 60GB photo ipod. I was looking into the Altec lansing iM3 but they appear not to be compatible.

I totally agree with Chris's suggestion, I do have Bose Soundock, JBL soundstage and iPod HiFi, with no doubt, iPod HiFi is my one of my best investment.

Ipod and iF2 portable speakers - preventing standby mode kicking in.

I have recently purchased both an iPod video and the Sonic Impact i-F2 portable speakers. There is and auto standby on the speakers which means that if they are 'idle' for more than 5 mins they shut down. Does anyone know how I prevent the speakers from going into standby mode (ie Off!) while I am listening to the music on the iPod?
It's no doubt a very simple thing, but it's driving me mad! Hope someone can help.

i know that the ipod gets charged on some of the other docking speakers, and the speakers don't go into stand by when ipod is playing music because they are providing power to the ipod while the ipod is playing. you may need to contact the manufacturer of the sonic impact speakers for this one.

Speakers for a Nano?

Can anyone recommend a speaker/charger system that works with a Nano and is under $50? I don't need great quality sound...just something to listen to at work.
I see one on Costco.com, its a "Logic3 iStation Shuffle Speakers" but it doesn't say if its compatible with a Nano. With the word "shuffle" in the name, I'd guess not.

Speakers for my iMac G5

I am currently using the iMac G4 and am handing it down to my husband; I purchased a new iMac G5. when I bought the G4, for some reason, I purchased speakers-- they look like round spheres. They work great-- don't know why I bought them, though. Should I keep these speakers for the G5 or purchase new speakers? Speakers weren't offered as an accessory on the website.

Nancy, you may be using Apple Pro Speakers on your G4. I have them on my G4 and they are not compatible with the new systems. At one time Griffen sold a gadget that let you use the speakers on new Macs, but the item is no longer for sale.
I need to reiterate that the iMac G5 has pretty decent speakers for their size and location. Note that I am not an audiophile, the built in speakers would not be good enough for some people. I am in the market for external speakers and I hope to attend MacWorld Expo where you can pick up some good deals.
For Christmas I bought my son an iHome 2Go iPod boombox/charger. I don't know how it sounds yet, but it has a line-in so it could be hooked up to a computer. how many watts is considered good? I see that some of the creative speakers have bi-amplification and some don't...what is that and would it be good for my zen micro? I'm a newbie about speakers and don't know anything... pls help.......

In terms of portable speakers I use Creative's Playdock, albeit with my Nomad Jukebox 3. It will still work with the Micro, but it won't charge it and doesn't have a specific glove. The sound from the Playdock is great though. I also hear that Creative's Travelsounds are very good.
I also use my digital audio players with a standard Pioneer home cinema system, and a partially upgraded home cinema system with Sony amp and Mission speakers.
