Portadat to FCP 7 on my macbook pro?

I have a timecode portadat. What hardware and software do I need to transfer it to final cut pro 7 on my macbook pro?
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2), 17" Intel Core 2 Duo

Try rebooting your computer.
You might also try downloading and installing iTunes 11 which came out today.

  • Can't load fcp studio on new macbook pro/os 10.6.2

I just got a brand new macbook pro and wanted to load my fcp studio 1 but it is saying I don't have the proper hardware. It want tell me exactly what hardware. I just bought this computer, so I can not understand the prob. Is it the operating system---OS 10.6.2?
I bought upgrade disks for fcp studio 2--what happens now? Has Apple made it so an older version of FCP isn't compatible with newer macBooks?

    FCP versions 1, 2, 3, 4, 4.5 and 5 will only run on a PPC processor Mac.
FCP versions 5.1 and 6 will run on both PPC and Intel Macs.
FCP version 7 will only run on IntelMacs.

  • Can't install FCP on my new MacBook Pro

I just realize that I can't install FCP on my brand new Macbook Pro. Does anyone knows of any solution that would let me install FCP. According to the notes FCP will not install on Intel Core Processors.

It would be useful if you -
    A. told us what version of FCP/FCS you are trying to install
    B. told us the error messages you received
In the meantime, Final Cut Pro 5.0 and earlier are not supported on intel macs. Time to upgrade. If you have a regular retail version of FCP, the upgrade price is $299. Academic and Not For Resale versions do not qualify for the upgrade.

  • FCP 5.04 on MacBook Pro?

So, what happens if you run the standard FCP package on an Intel machine? Does it not install? Or will it just act crazy? One of my co-workers apparently installed the studio package on his new MacBook Pro and claims its working, though I haven't looked at it yet. They'd never even heard that there was a Universal version. Just curious as to what kind of problems I should be looking for when I get around to checking it out.

It might run in Rosetta... but really slow...

  • Using SSD for FCP Video Editing on Macbook Pro

    Hi,
I am looking to get a Macbook Pro 15" which i will be using for some video editing related work (definitely HD, might include some 3K footage at times). I was earlier considering getting a 512GB solid state drive for some fast performance, but I have been hearing that they are not great for video editing and that video editing will suck through the lifetime of the SSD, I could use some clarity or confirmation on the subject. Ideally, I would love to have a solid state drive in my laptop for just the overall performance boost and I love the idea of a less heating and power consuming drive, however I do know, that I will be doing video editing related work with large files frequently and would like my drive to last for at least 3 years. Should I expect that from a SSD?
Will it be wise to get a SSD in my case? I'll appreciate your suggestions. The more you can explain your reasoning, the better.

I also read somewhere that the old SSDs might have been a bit problematic but the new ones have 'load balancing' which makes sure you don't use the same bits of electronics all the time and spreads the memory around. Does this mean that video editing playback will be good? Or any improvements of SSD lifespan?

  • Does FCP run well on Macbook Pro 13?

Definitely thinking of installing FCP on my 13' Macbbok Pro. Will it run ok?

Have you run FCP on other machines or will this be your first experience?
Will FCP install on a 13" MBP? yes
Will FCP be "ok"? it all depends on how you define "ok"

  • Re-install FCP 7 on new MacBook Pro

My old MacBook's motherboard was damaged to the extend that I had to replace it with a  new OS X Yosemite. I have FCP X - but also want to use FCP 7. When I try to install it with the disc, the message reads"invalid product key". The duplicate from my old MacBook - the message is that it can not run on this version- need to re-instal. Has anyone also had this problem? Any solution?

There are best practices from Apple for installing both FCP-7 on a system with FCP-X. You can find them in this Apple document, about halfway down the page:

Not sure what you mean by this - is the serial number for your disc being rejected?
Is the FCS3 you are installing an upgrade version or a full version?

  • Can I install the same copy of FCP X on my MacBook Pro AND my MacPro?

The license agreement for FCS2 allows me to. Does the agreement for FCP X allow the same? If so, how does one go abaout installing on two different machines?

If purchased through the Mac App Store then it can be installed on up to five authorized CPUs. Otherwise, it's controlled by the license that came with the software.
To install on another computer copy the downloaded installer application to the other computer.

  • MacBook Pro and FCP 4.0

I got new MacBook Pro few days ago. I asked technician about possible working for FCP with Macbook. He said yes. I installed FCP 4.0 to MacBook pro and it does not work. Configuration error: missing AGP graphics card. What do I need? New FCP verison or what?

There's a hack for the AGP card problem, but the real issue is trying to run FCP 4 under Rosetta on an Intel chipped Mac - its sloooooow. You're best bet would be to take advantage of Apple's $199.00 upgrade/crossgrade offer and get the complete Final Cut Studio package.

  • Extra Firewire Port on MacBook Pro - 2nd Bus for FCP??

I have a 3-month old MacBook Pro with 2 firewire ports - one is a 6 pin 400 port and the other is a 9-pin 800 port. Can the 800 port be used for an external firewire drive for Final Cut Pro if the 400 port is taken by an AJA Io LD? I've read that it's best to have a 2nd bus via a ExpressCard34, but it seems that's normally the answer for laptops that have only one firewire port. Can this 800 port be used with no problems? Is the 800 on a 2nd bus?
    Thanks in advance,
    Eddie

I've moved to a G-Sata,via express card adapter,in combination with the Io LD,but to be honest the Io and a fw800 G-Raid didn't drop frames for me in uncompressed SD.

    Will.

  • Transfer FCP License from Macbook Pro to iMac

I am about to begin editing a huge project, and currently I have Final Cut Pro 7 on my Macbook Pro Version 10.6.8. I am fine to edit on this computer, but I would prefer to edit on an iMac that formerly belonged to a friend but I now have in my possession.
So my question is: what are the steps to transferring my FCP license from my Macbook Pro to the iMac?
I do a lot of traveling and editing, so I do not want this to be a permanent transfer. How will I then be able to transfer the FCP license back to the Macbook Pro in a few months?
    Thanks!

The FCP license allows a desktop and laptop installation just so long as they are not used simultaneously.
Install the software and have at it.

  • Can i transfer Final Cut Pro from my old MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Pro?

i just bought a new MacBook Pro and would like to have FCP on my new computer.
is there any way i can do this?
i dont have the CDs. i dont care if it will no longer work on my old Mac.
    its FCP v6.0.6
    MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.3
    2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

You could try Migration Assistant in Applications/Utilities, but this not recommended for Pro Applications.
Best is a clean install using the disks, you could borrow the disks from a colleague.
In both cases you will need your S/N. If you lost that you have to consider taking a 'How do I get myself organized'-course.

  • MacBook Pro and Sony 50"

I'm thinking of gettiing a Sony 50" HDTV. Does anyone have some experience hooking the MacBook to a HDTV? Are the other HDTVs that work better with a Mac? Thanks for any answers.

DVI -> HDMI to my Sony 42 lcd HD and it looks great. HD clips from apple look good as well as some of the HD footage I have myself. Monitor preferences found the Sony and gave it a Sony TV profile, which wasnt that far off colorwise.
Can't wait for full on FCP on this machine.

  • Portadat to FCP 7 on MacBook Pro?

I have a timecode portadat. What hardware and software do I need to transfer it to final cut pro 7 on my macbook pro?

I"ve encountered just the opposite.. works fine with my MBP, and my MP... Both had clean installs done to them though... as in erase and install.
Since you can capture HDV, your FireWire bus is likely alright... what are you using to capture DV with?

  • If I do a clean install on my MacBook Pro will I be able to re-install apps (FCP, Aperture, MS Office etc.) from a Time Machine backup, or will I need the original install DVDs with authorization codes?

    I have two questions...
    1) If I do a clean install on my MacBook Pro will I be able to re-install apps (FCP, Aperture, MS Office etc.) from a Time Machine backup, or will I need the original install DVDs with authorization codes? (because I don't have them)
    2) Has anyone ever seen anything like this before on their computers?
The Apple Genius' were stumped by my laptop issues and said they'd never seen anything like it before and recommended I did a clean install. Below you can see my trash bin, and if you look at the "Empty" button it reads "N201" and then there's the "N39" to the left of it. You can also see these numbers over by the folder area--"SD5, SD6, SD7." But that's not all...
When I right click on items I see the numbers again. Instead of "Open with" I get "N152" and there's an "N35" and "LB1" towards the bottom.
I have no idea what's going on so I'm just going to do a clean install on my machine but I don't want to lose my apps. I don't have the original install DVDs for them anymore. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

You don't lose them.  You can always redownload them from the app store after you log back in with your Apple ID.
    "Buy, download, and even redownload.
You can install apps on every Mac you use and even download them again. This is especially convenient when you buy a new Mac and want to load it with apps you already own."
