  • ADF jdev 11g portlet   in Weblogic Portal 10G R3?

Is possible to build a ADF Jdev 11g portlet and deploy it in a Weblogic Portal 10g R3?

Not with WebLogic Portal 10gR3, no, but that use case is one that will be supported in the upcoming release of WebLogic Portal, which will coincide closely with the release of WebCenter 11g.

  • Page and Portlet caching possibilities - Portal 10g

On most of our portalpages we have at least 2 separated areas.
In the first area there is a menuportlet which depends on the users access rights.
Second area shows an item that is rarely changed.
Is there any possibility to cache this page on "systemlevel for x seconds" and
the menu on "userlevel for x seconds" ?
Now some facts about the pages:
Our portel contains over 1000 pages.
These rarely changed contents are informations not often read by the same user, because the most info they will get are news, reports or anything else like this.
    Thanks for any help!

    Hallo Juergen,
Menu portlet: you can edit the portlet instance settings and configure system level caching for x seconds.
For the entire page, configure user level caching for y seconds.
    This holds true if x>=y.
If y>x, set the menu portlet timeout to the same as the page timeout.
    Hope this helps,
    Peter

  • Recommended portel type for Java Server Faces in Portal 10G

    Hi all,
What is the best [or recommended] portlet type to use to interact with Java Server Faces in Oracle Portal 10G. We a planning to use a WSRP portlet type in our current project and would like to know if this is a good/feasible approach, or whether another portlet type would be recommended.
    Thanks in advance!

Entry-level stuff is linked from http://www.jsftutorials.net/

  • Good book on portal 10g v10.1.2 ??

    Hi,
I'm looking for a good book that covers all aspects of Portal 10g, including the installation of app server 10g v10.1.2, configuration of portal, and portal/portlet development. I have found books on app server 10g that have sections on portal, but would really like a whole book devoted to the subject.
    Any ideas?

I can get that example to work. The problem is with a web service omni portlet. If I take the same xml from the web service (when you click test on the screen) and do your example of an xml omni portlet it works great.

  • IMPORT PORTAL 10G R2

    Hi
I want to export my portal (generate with Oracle Portal 10g R2) to another Server, i create it from properties of the Page Gruop, but i don't know where is it? (physically) and how to import it to a new middle tier.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanx.
    Alex.

Oracle states that "With the move to OracleAS Portal Release 2, and the introduction of OracleAS Web Cache into the portal architecture, the information in these tables became inaccurate. Therefore, all the pre-built reporting and charting portlets were removed from Portal." which is a major disappointment when they offer no drop-in... I've opted not to use Web Cache and will probably install WebTrends on the server which is what Andrew Sethi recommends... http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/pdf/oow_10gr2_1333_sethi_andrew.pdf

  • Portal 10g cache sucks

I've been struggling for a whole week now with caching issues on portal 10g (9.0.4 -linux).
Like other postings in this forum I get pages from another previous session in my browser, and since my portlets are browser dependent, this is very annoying: I get the page on a windows - ie just as the where made on the first visit as konqueror on linux.
Putting the cache off did not help: I stopped the webcache and the portal cache, same song allover again.
But for all who is having the same problem, I found a workaround that seems to work (only for own build portlets): I just put an extra parameter on the page (I called it ts - from timestamp) and give it the value of the millisecond the page was made. eg: &ts=20040306232915765, this seems to force the page to be regenerated (since it has a different parameter every time again).
Note: As I saw in some postings, one suggest to set the browsercache to 'every visit': sorry, you can't expect the whole world visiting your pages to do so!!!

    Leo.
The browser cache setting for every visit to the page is a mandatory requirement to ensure that the content is managed in a timely and expeditious manner. If the user's browser is caching content then we (and you) cannot control the update of that content, and you will (as you've experienced) end up with stale content.
The 10g cache does not 'suck'. From the description you have given here, you are implying that you have turned on 'FULL PAGE' caching which causes 2 things to happen, the fully parsed and generated page is stored in the file cache for a specified period of time. The fully parsed and generated page is cached in the user's browser cache for a period of time (specified by you). When using this type of caching even if you clear the file cache you will still retain the cached objects in the browser cache for the stated retention period, only after that period has expired will the content be regenerated.
The reason the content regenerates when you add a parameter is because this forces the regeneration of a new and differing object (uniquely identified by the URL) which will subsequently be added to the cache.
If I have not described your scenario, please provide some more details about the types of portlets you have written, the pages they are placed on, and the caching decisions you have taken with regard to those portlets and pages.

  • Oracle Aplication Server Portal 10 G - configure portlets in Oracle Portal

Hi, I was reading through the Document " ORACLE APPLICATIONS SERVER PORTAL 10G release 2 (10.1.4 - Customized Portlets with BPEL.
On page 3 it refers to chapter 20 of a document caled "BEPL 10.1.2.0.2 Developer's Guide".
I couldn't find this document. It is supposed to teach youhow to configure out-of-box portlets in Oracle Portal.
    Thanks

    Hi Sleepy,
you can find this chapter here: http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/integrate.1012/b14448/portal.htm#sthref3420.
How to find it? http://otn.oracle.com -> documentation -> application server -> Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) Documentation (Previous Releases section) -> View Library for B14099-11 and finally E-business Integration tab contains BPEL guides.

  • [Urgent] Some questions about Oracle Portal 10g - 11g upgrade

    Dear friends,
We are under doing upgrading assessment of Oracle Portal from 10g to 11g. After reviewed the 'upgrading guide', we still have some questions as below:
    1. Whether the 'Instant Portal' feature remain in Oracle Portal 11g? If yes, how to migrate the Instant Portal 10g sites? If no, any workaround?
    2. Whether the old 10g Page Group and Pages will be still available after 11g upgrade? Also can customer import the old 10g transportset into Portal 11g?
    3. How about the customized Portal 10g objects (such as customized template, style, attributes) after 11g upgrade? Still be usable?
    4. Customer use PDK to develop many portlets in 10g. Can they use JDeveloper 11g to migrate their old project to 11g automatically?
Thank you in advance and any comment are welcome.

    1. Whether the 'Instant Portal' feature remain in Oracle Portal 11g? If yes, how to migrate the Instant Portal 10g sites? If no, any workaround?Instant Portal is not available anymore in Oracle Portal 11g. The Instant Portal page groups will be migrated to standard Portal page groups. Maintenance of the Instant Portal can be done with the standard Portal tools. The Instant Portal tools are not available anymore.
Whether the old 10g Page Group and Pages will be still available after 11g upgrade? Also can customer import the old 10g transportset into Portal 11g?Old 10g Page Groups are migrated to Portal 11g. They will still be available after the upgrade.
Export/Import through transports sets has always been limited to instances of the same version. It is not supported between versions as documented in the Administration Guide :
    [11.2.1|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/portal.1111/e10239/cg_imex.htm#CCJBCCGD] System Requirements
Before exporting and importing content, ensure that your system meets the minimum system requirements, as described in this section.
    Notes:
    * Export and import functions only within the same release of Oracle Portal and the same patch release, for example, release 10.1.4 to release 10.1.4 or release 11.1.1 to release 11.1.1. You cannot export and import between two different releases, such as release 10.1.2 to release 10.1.4 or release 10.1.4 to release 11.1.1.
How about the customized Portal 10g objects (such as customized template, style, attributes) after 11g upgrade? Still be usable?Customized objects get migrated as well. Certain types (e.g. PL/SQL item types) need to be checked after upgrade as the behavior of the PL/SQL code may differ between database versions. This is particularly of concern when the 10.1.4.x Portal uses a 10.1 database. A database upgrade to either 10.2, 11.1 or 11.2 is necessary as Portal 11g is not supported with RDBMS 10.1.
Customer use PDK to develop many portlets in 10g. Can they use JDeveloper 11g to migrate their old project to 11g automatically?Never done this, but the Portal framework is able to consume JPDK providers which are running in older versions of the toolkit. If the providers are running in standalone OC4J containers, you would be able to upgrade the framework and keep the providers in their OC4J containers. This will allow you to focus on the framework first and worry about your providers later.
    Thanks,
    EJ
