Portal and ECC

Hi,
For portal development we are using Netweaver 7.3. Users will login to portal to handle day to day activities.Portal will maintain all the master and transaction data from SAP to local Data Base.
Can anyone share possible ways of integrating Portal with sap, it will be helpful ?

Vinod.

  • NW2004s portal password and ECC 6.0 password synchronisation

    Hi,
We have implemented NW2004s SR2 SPS 12 portal and also configured SSO
between Netweaver portal and ECC 6.0 system using SAP logon tickets.
As per client's requirement, is there any standard mechanism available
for synchronizing Netweaver portal password and ECC 6.0 system
password? (i.e when we change password in EP the same is reflected in
    ECC also).
    Appreciate your inputs.
    Regards,
    Lakshmi.

    Hi Lakshmi,
I am not sure of this, but yes one can use central user administration (CUA), for synchronising userid/pwd from a single system.
The CUA box will hold all the user ID.

  • Question about load balancing between Portal and ABAP

    Hi,
I have the problem whit load balancing between Portal and ECC (ERC) ABAP
    Exist two system:
    1) ECC (ERP) ABAP = Backend     Module = HR
    2) EP (JAVA) = Frontend
The users (9000 users) logon in the EP and run query (data personal) in the ECC.  The problem to all user connect in Central Instance and not in the Dialog Instance.
How can balancing the conecction HTTP (EP) to ECC (ABAP)??
I need balancing in the ECC to Dialog Instance

Jco -> right. Another possibility is that you use iviews that point to the backend in this case you will need to use a load balanced entry for the backend system in the [system landscape|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/47/8c1e438d7017fce10000000a42189c/frameset.htm] -> SAP_R3_LoadBalancing
If you have ESS deployed on your portal, you will most probably need to do both.
    Cheers Michael

  • Single Sign On Partially Working Between Portal amd ECC.

We are running ESS in EP 7 SP18 for ESS and some transactional iViews to an ECC 6 box with EHP3.
We have SSO setup between the two, and it seems to be working for the most part.
I have setup the JCo Destinations (both Application Data and Dictionary Data) and everything is working fine. We have the authentication method set to ticket for the App Data connections, and SAPJSF for the Dictionary Data connections. I hit the Test link on all the them in SLD, and they all work with no problem. I can test an ESS iView from the PCD, and it works as epected, with no additonal logon required.
However, when I run a transaction from the Portal to the ECC system (CAT2, SU01, SPRO, etc.), I am prompted for a logon to the system. I can input my user name and password from that point, and can access the transaction.
I am setup correctly in both systems and have all the authorizations that I need. I have stepped through the SSO setup process, republished and reactivated services in SE80 and SICF respectively, and still no luck. My ITS Connection Test fails, and  sugeests a firewall problem with the port. However, this is not the case, as I can successfully login, so the port can't be blocked.
What's odd, is that I have never had it work in one spot, and not the other. It is usually all or nothing.
I thought I would reach out to the community to see if anyone has any suggestions. The two main differences between this system and others I've built is EHP3 on ECC, and the Portal and ECC have the same sid (but do not reside on the same server).
    Thanks in advance!

Check Note 1083421 . There is a wizard called  SSO2Wizard_700.ZIP which you can download from the Note. the wizard when downloaded can be accessed via the Portal URL followed by /SSO2
OK...so this can help SSO logon ticket issues from the ABAP side and it automatically checks for inconsistencies. Its like the template Installer or the Support Tool we have for BI.
    hope this helps...

  • Portal - TREX - ECC

    Hello All,
    Portal version = EP7 SP14
Our Portal server resides on dual (ABAP+Java) stack.
Have integrated Portal and ECC with one TREX server.
Requirement - Should be able to search SAP ECC data from Portal. So how should this be done.
    Please guide.
    Thanks,
    Ritu

I think the same is done when SAP CRM is implemented.
Portal users can search for products in Product Catalog in SAP CRM.
But again, I did not find no document on how this Portal <-> TREX <-> ECC search is done.
    Sandeep,
If you re-collect any part of that conference, please share.
    Thanks,
    Ritu

  • System refresh of only ECC and not Portal and PI in MCOD

    Hello,
Our QA landscape has ECC, Portal and PI installed in separate servers, but belong to the same MCOD DB. Its the same in Production too.
Now we want to refresh just the ECC in QA from ECC in Production. We don't want anything to change in the PI and Portal QA?
    How can we do this?
    Cheers

    > For info sake, from your experience how long does the export of a 500gb database take in sapinst?
SAP migrated their HR system (of several TB) on a weekend, however, this was highly tuned with lots of test runs in front. I can't say how long it takes, you have to do a run to see and to optimize.
    > Usually in a db refresh, when i create the controlfiles, I replace the source <sid> with the the target <sid> in the control_file.sql (that I get from the trace in source system). After a DB refresh I just recreate the sapdba role, recreate the ops$ user for the specific target SID. Is it any different in case of MCOD?
This procedure does not work as soon as Java comes into place. If you copy a system with Java you must use sapinst. Java stores tons of information not in the database (as ABAP) but on the filesystem. Some of the information is synced on startup, some of them are only read on the filesystem.
Especially in case of a PI (which itself is very complex) this does not work.
In any case you would need to (after the full DB copy)
    - run sapinst on your QA system to "save" your current state (sapinst Java export for the EP and sapinst Java + ABAP (R3load) export for the PI)
    - uninstall PI and EP on the target system
    - reinstall EP and PI by using the export you did
    but
if you'd do it that way and you have then only a database with your ERP and you reinstall the other two systems anyway I would not do MCOD but two new database installations (so separate the instances).
There is no other way of doing that copy and preserving the other system in an MCOD case, that's one reason why MCOD is no more recommended.

    Hi
Go through the section  "Business Package for SAP SRM"  on help.sap.com for SRM application help. Refer to the master guide/business scenario config guides on SRM at service.sap.com/srm-inst
For standard iViews, installing the BUsiness Package for SRM and manual registration of UWL in Portal is good enough for setting up EP for SRM

  • Portal Security and ECC 6.0

I had posted this in another form, but was directed as I should go to post my questions:
I work with SAP security and I've been asked to look at portal roles. Specific questions I've been asked are:
Can user id's be export from SAP to the portal? If so, is there a SAP delivered program to use.
If a user logs into the portal via SSO or just logging into the portal, but doesn't have a user id in SAP; is there a SAP delivered process that will create an user id in SAP?
If the portal id is xxx and the SAP id is yyy, where is mapping done to allow the user access to SAP?
I'm hoping to find information to answer the above questions via white papers, URL's, or books.
    Any help would appreciated,

    Hi Stabley
The portal uses the Java system's UME settings for user management. One option is to point the Java UME to an ABAP system (6.20 or higher) and then the SU01 data is used for portal autherntications.
There is a self registration process, but I don't think you want it to create SAP users in the above scenario. Even if you did, the users would have no useful roles in SAP.
Having a different username for the portal and SAP is supported through user mapping, but it is messy to maintain.
Try search SDN for UME and ABAP to get some good information or try the portal wiki pages (link at the top of the forum)
    Cheers

  • NetWeaver Portal and ERP 6.0: BI, ESS/MSS and full Portal on one machine

    Hello,
with ERP 6.0 you need a EP Core Portal for BI Java. An other EP Core Portal for HCM ECC/MSS. The iViews from this portal you integrate in the main portal via federated portal. But in this scenario i need to much portals and have a lot of maintenance costs (administration overhead for evry portal). For a small Customer i will build one Portal for all. It is possible e.g. to use the BI Portal with ESS/MSS and as full portal?
    Best regards,
    Patrick

    Hi,
So you would like one BI installation with both the ABAP and the Java-stack with the full BI-functionallity and additionally the XSS-component and set it up to work against the ECC ABAP-only system ?
I think the scenario would actually work, but:
    1) You might get future problems if you want to upgrade your BI-system and not the ECC-system.
Is it possible to run the old XSS-components in the new java-stack ?
    2) You might get future problems if you want to upgrade your ECC-system and not the BI-system.
What if the new version of the XSS-component demands certain java-components which the BI-system do not have.
So my recommendation is still to run the java-stack on both systems.
ECC with the XSS-java-components and BI with the Bi-java-components.
This way you do not lock yourself into a corner and each system can be upgrade independent of the other.

  • SSO between Portal and Java WD application

    Hi Experts,
I am using CE 7.2 on localhost and I am very new to SAP.
I need to know how can I get SSO between Portal and Java WD.  I have a WD application that displays the logged in user using "IUser currentUser = WDClientUser.getCurrentUser().getSAPUser()", as well I can use "IUser user = UMFactory.getAuthenticator().getLoggedInUser()".  Both work.
Q1. What is the difference in the 2 above?
Q2. My WD application is set to authenticate user.  The WD application is in URL iView.  I need SSO between Portal and WD application.   Is there a way to get this SSO without SAP Backend (ECC), for now I just need SSO between Portal and Java WD appl.
    Everything is in localhost.
    Please advice. Thanks.

    > need to know how can I get SSO between Portal and Java WD.
Then I suggest you ask your question in the Web Dynpro Java forum instead of the Web Dynpro ABAP one.

  • Role mapping between Portal and Back end systems

I am new to SAP EP.
I just want to know how the mapping between portal and back end system happens.
Scenario : There is a role in ECC system...say FI India. Now there is a request by the FI team that they want to access this role from Portal. In this case, please tell me how the security team will do it. Because I guess, it has to be done by the security team.

    Hi,
Usually the role from backend is uploaded to portal then it will be seen as Group and we need to assign our portal roles to this group. Please refer [this|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/d6/7859ec80df46738e23ccb4f4c8c502/content.htm].

  • SSO issue with BI 4.0 BW and ECC

We currently have SAP BW 7.3 BOBJ 4.0 ECC and SAP portals.
We have configured SAP BW, BOBJ and SAP Portal with SSO and that works perfectly fine.
The issue is that i have Crystal Reports running on ECC that have also to be published to the Portal.
All BW crystal reports run fine and ECC fails because of SSO -
What am i missing here -
Do i need to do something different for ECC
In CMC  Authentication i have added SAP ECC and imported a role - So now i have 2 ids - one from BW and the other from ECC.
I know this is not the way to do it but it still does not work.
What do i need to do to have ECC and BW reports to work with SSO from SAP portal.
    Thanks

Thank you for your reply Ingo
I assume that your BusinessObjects Server has the SAP Authentication for BW and ECC configured ?
    *Yes *
Are the reports for BW and ECC been called from the portal ?
    Yes
if so then you have one BOE Server, 2 SAP environments and 2 SAP authentications configured and to achieve SSO for all systems you will have to combine the 2 SAP Systems via SNC (for XI 3.1) or via the SSO Token Service in BI4
We are on BI4 and we have set up SSO Token for BW -
Are you saying that we have to set up SSO token for BW as well as ECC -
In CMC - Authentication - SAP  - Options -SAP  SSO Service - it does not give me an option to have 2 systems
How do i add ECC system there too.
    Regards

  • ABAP differences of SAP R/3 4.6 and ECC 6.0

What are the ABAP differences of SAP R/3 4.6 and ECC 6.0?

    Hi
Difference between version on functionalities you can find on the following link.
Give the source version (i.e. 4.6 C) and select the target version (i.e. ECC 6.0)
    http://solutionbrowser.erp.sap.fmpmedia.com/
Please check this Release notes :
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/43/6880cbb88f297ee10000000a422035/content.htm
    Check if this is helpfull
    Short Difference between R/3 4.7, ECC5 & ECC6 !!!!!
    1. SAP NetWeaver is SAP's technology platform. It has all of SAP's
technology in it. It is used to build and run SAP Applications and customer
applications (Application server, data warehouse, portal, coding, messaging,
etc). You can find more information on the SAP NetWeaver page on the SAP
Service Marketplace (http://service.sap.com/netweaver). Of course they is
also in on the SAP NetWeaver page in SDN.
    2. ABAP is part of SAP NetWeaver. BW is part of SAP NetWeaver (as of
    the 3.5release).
    3. Prior to SAP NetWeaver, BW was a seperate product. It is shipped as part
of SAP NetWeaver since the SAP NetWeaver '04 release (SAP NetWeaver BI 3.5).
    4. SAP ECC is part of the SAP ERP application (actually it is the minimal
installation of SAP ERP). SAP ERP runs on SAP NetWeaver. So when you get SAP
    ERP you get SAP NetWeaver.
    - SAP ECC 5.0 is part of SAP ERP 2004 [which runs on SAP NetWeaver '04]
    - SAP ECC 6.0 is part of SAP ERP 6.0 (2005) [which runs on SAP
    NetWeaver 7.0(2004s)]
    5. SAP NetWeaver is delivered with SAP ERP so ABAP and the functional
modules are include in SAP ERP.
    6. With SAP ERP (SAP ECC) you have a choice of activating BI within the SAP
ERP system or deploying in a seperate system. This is information is in the
SAP ERP master guides which can be found at
    http://service.sap.com/instguides.
For SAP ERP 6.0 (ECC 6.0) it will the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 version of BI.
    Also check
    /thread/170347 [original link is broken]
The only difference between ECC5 and ECC6 is that additional components like mySAPCRM, mySAPPLM, mySAPSCM, mySAPSRM are added in ECC6.0. HR was already a part of ECC5.0.

  • Difference Between 4.7 and ECC 6.0 in case Of Travel mgmt.

    Hi guys,
Please let me know what is the main difference between 4.7 and Ecc 6.0 in case of Travel management.
    Thanks

    Hi Pulla,
We use R/3 4.7 version for Travel Management (FI-TV) with fairly good features but the latest  version ECC 6.0 which is Enterprise Central Component version 6.0 gives you the opportunity to use ESS/MSS ie, using portal to create the trips/claims as against interfaces.
Therefore one difference would be to get the work done easily by logging into a internet site and complete the trips/claims which in turn updates your database tables where as in 4.7 there is no such functionality to use portal to make an expense claim.
There might be other feature enhancements available in 6.0 which I am currently unaware of but surely SAP gurus in this forum will be able to provide more on that.
Hope the above provides more info.
