Hello, you can make a backup of the middle tier configuration files using the Oracle Application Server Backup and Recovery Tool, you can read the Oracle® Application Server 10g Administrator's Guide for this.
you also can make a transportable set in portal including all pages, provideres etc. and make the export for these.

  • Portal backup best practice!!

    Hi ,
Can anyone let me know where can i get Portal Backup Best Practices!! We are using SAP EP7.
    Thanks,
    Raghavendra Pothula

Hi Tim: Here's my basic approach for this -- I create either a portal dynamic page or a stored procedure that renders an HTML parameter form. You can connect to the database and render what ever sort of drop downs, check boxes, etc you desire. To tie everything together, just make sure when you create the form, the names of the fields match that of the page parameters created on the page. This way, when the form posts to the same page, it appends the values for the page parameters to the URL.
By coding the entire form yourself, you avoid the inherent limitations of the simple parameter form. You can also use advanced JavaScript to dynamically update the drop downs based on the values selected or can cause the form to be submitted and update the other drop downs from the database if desired.
Unfortunately, it is beyond the scope of this forum to give you full technical details, but that is the approach I have used on a number of portal sites. Hope it helps!

  • WebCenter Portal Backup Plan

    Hi all,
Please tell if there is any backup plan available with portal.
    If Yes,describe.

Since WCP is multi-tier and really just a framework for letting you build and deploy well, just about anything really, there is no concise Backup and Recovery plan or single tool the way there is with Oracle RDBMS.
Do you use WCC, Oracle IAM?, SOA? So many questions.
    You may want to review

  • Portal Backup & Recovery

    Hi ,
is there a "best practise" for backup & recovery of Oracle Portal? I don't mean exp/imp but doing a synchronised backup of the whole architecture..
I've been asked to offer a B&R scenario for a multi node architecture (1x DB Server, 1x Infrastructure Server, 2x Portal MT). The system runs on United Linux 1.0
Many thanks in advance for your help!

Go to http://otn.oracle.com/products/ias/hi_av/content9ias.html and download the Oracle 9iAS R2 backup and recovery tool. It works pretty good for back up and recover for my middle-tier and infrastructure servers.

  • Backup Portal

    Hi Everybody,
which folders in sap '/usr/sap/.....' etc. are important in order to create a backup of EP Portal? As i am right the whole files and directories under the folder /j2ee/cluster/server0 will be saved through BRTools and the Database. So if i save the .dbf files from /oracle/<sid>/oraarch on tape i get only the data under server0 and not the full backup.
So my question now is which folders have also be stored excluding server0?
    regards,
    Seed

    Hi Seed,
You might want to look at the backup and restore threads to throw more light on this.

  • Backup regime

I am looking to introduce a 9ias portal backup routine and have found info on running a portle import/export procedure. It recommends exporting in the following order
    1. Login Server 2. Security 3. Database Schema 4. Application 5. Content Area 6.Pages
Is this the best way of backing up nightly? Is there anything else I should be considering ie an Oracle DB backup , file areas to backup etc??
    Thanks

Invidual object level backup's can be performed the way you mentioned. In addition it is always a good idea to perform a full portal level backup - we are working on a whitepaper that will detail this (it will be posted on technet once we have finalized the document). If you need info on this one, send me an email and I will have a draft of the document sent to you.
Also, in addition to full portal level (User Schema) you can also think of backing up the entire database (this is especially useful when there are many application schemas that are on the same instance referenced by Portal Applications).

  • SAP System Backup on Tape Drive

    Hi All,
Below is our system Landscape details.
    SAP SRM 7.0
    SAP MDM 7.1
    SAP NW EP 7.01
    SAP ECC IDES 6.04
    SAP CE 7.2
    HDD u2013 6TB
    OS u2013 Win 2K8 R2
    DB u2013 SQL Server 2K8 R2
We have HP Ultrium 2 Tape drive have been installed, we are planning to do offline backup first and then for online backup on regular basis.
As per my understanding for R/3 systems we can use DB12 for backup and not sure about Portal backup tool in SAP.
Can anyone please help me in sap best practise documents and links for backup procedure and store on tape drive.

  • Deleted the region on oracle 10g portal page

deleted the region on oracel 10g portal page . now i cannot access all the links on that region. is there any way i can get back those links and the region. Any idea where it will be stored(tables , database)
    Thanks

What do you mean by links? URL items? PAge link items? Other kinds of items?
If you delete a region, you delete the item content it contains, which is why you're asked "are you sure?" and are prompted to move content from the region you are about to delete (assuming your page layout allows it).
If you need to recover those items, you'll need to go to your portal backup. (Yes, the lack of easy logical restores in Portal is a huge pain)
and if you deleted the region that contained themthen those items are gone.
At this point, you'd have to retrieve it from database backups (depending on what the items were, you could use wwsbr_all_items or wwv_things).
Here's hoping those items are easy enough to recreate.

  • Recovery of a deldeted file/folder in KM

    Hi All,
One user has deleted some folder/files in KM accidentally and we are not able to retrieve it back. Is there any option to retrieve the deleted folder/files?
We confuigured the DB is persistent mode for CM Repository and the Configuration details I checked under system administration -> Sys configuration -> KM -> Content Mgmt -> CM Repository.
Version Details: NW 04s EP 7.0 SP 10 with KMC.
Note:  At the moment we are taking only weekly oracle database backup not KM related backup.
I read some threads reg. DB, DBFS & FSDB modes please can any one tell me who has implemented DBFS/FSDB mode. At present we are in DB mode , can I change this mode to eithe DBFS/FSDB? is it possible or not?. please suggest me direct procudure bcz It's a very urgent requirement from my client.
Thanks in advance for your valuable time .

    Hi sreedhar,
here is the way to backup your portal km files and restore them.
Two years ago, we were on EP6 SP2, db mode only for km repository.
In SAP documentation, we saw that we were able to chagne from db mode to fsdb without problems.
    So we did.
Now, you only need to backup every night the fsdb folder on the server.
If a user need an old file, look in the backups.
In db mode I don't think you can restore a km file.
I do a online portal backup every night, and an offline every sunday night.
    That helps a lot.

  • Carrer and job workset in ESS role

    Hi Guys,
I have a problem in ESS role, I am having SP12 portal with ESS SP8,ADS SP10 and WebDynpro 6.4. In Ess role there is a workset called "career and job" when I try to open "Candidate Profile" under this workset I get an error regarding
    com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.WebDynpro::WebDynpro/TopLayer
    DefinitionType: Java
    System        : SAP_WebDynpro_XSS

    DebugMode : No
Can any one tell me how can I solve this error? Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Yasir Noman

    Hi,
I faced with the same problem and I reported message to SAP support
    SAP's unswer:
    "Step 1.
Import the business package that is sent as an attachment alon with this message. It contains the latest iViews.
    IMPORTANT ###
This will over right any changes that you have made in the portal. You
will need to back up you changes and import them back into the portal
after you have updated the business package.
    IMPORTANT ###
    Step 2.
Define a portal system that points to the WAS hosting E-Recruitment
services. This system should have an alias SAP_BSP_EREC. This is a very
important step and this will ensure that the iView can look for the
correct place to open up the BSP application.
    Step 3.
In the view V_T7XSSSERRES, update the field "URL for PCD path" for the
following resources. Currently the last string of this field is
    com.sap.pct.ess.serv_career_job,
    this should be replaced by
    com.sap.pct.ess.bsp_career_job:
This change is applicable to all the following services.
    EMPLOYEE_CANDIDATE_APPLICATIONS_SERVICE
    EMPLOYEE_CANDIDATE_DATA_OVERVIEW
    EMPLOYEE_CANDIDATE_DIRECT_APPL_SERVICE
    EMPLOYEE_CANDIDATE_FAVORITES_SERVICE
    EMPLOYEE_CANDIDATE_PERSONAL_SETTINGS
    EMPLOYEE_CANDIDATE_PROFILE_RELEASE
    EMPLOYEE_CANDIDATE_PROFILE_SERVICE
    EMPLOYEE_CANDIDATE_SEARCH_JOBS_SERVICE
There may be a need to set the right authorizations to run BSP
    application on the WAS.
Otherwise we have rectified this and is available in next support pack.
You can wait till next support pack is released.
I made full portal backup - it is very important
Instead of step 1 I imported new patched ESS package (BPERP4ESS01_0-10003146.SCA, note 879075) from 05/10/05 and steps 2,3
It partially helps, but I get new error "An internal error occurred. Please try again later." I think because there are missing functionality steps regarding E-recruiting BSPs
    Best regards, Elena

  • Error messages for backend systems

    Hello,
as we have several backend systems connected to our Portal (NW2004s
SP10) we wonder if there's no possibility to give a user a representative
message if a backend-system is unavailable? Right now we make backups
each weekend. So all backend systems are unavailable for a specific
period of time. If the portal backup is faster than the other backups
the users accesses the portal and encounter several error messages that
the there's a problem. Just a message about having a problem is not
enough. Isn't there any possibility to give a user a representative
message about the actual state of the backend system? Could the backend
iViews not check whether the specific system is availbale or not, and
respond the state? (Prefered with no further coding!)
    Thanks and regards

  • Check Portal System Database Backup status

    Hi,
we have a portal system and i have performed an online DB-Backup using brtools.
Like DB02 in ABAP Stack, is there a way to display the status of the Backup either using NWA at SAP level or using brtools at OS level ?
    Thank you,
    Mohan.

This is not possible from the portal page (NWA) but you can view the BRBACKUP logs from the OS level located at /oracle/SID/sapbackup and archive backup logs present at /oracle/SID/saparch.
You can make use of the DBACOCKPIT function from another system like suggested above.

  • How to make automatic backups of NW Portal systems?

    Hi All,
We have SAP CRM, ECC and NW Portal using MaxDB databases.
For DB Backups and monitoring, we are using Database Studio.
But in this DatabaseStudio, we have no calendar and no automatic backups is possible. In SAP ECC and CRM, we can access the tcode DB13 which give us acces to the DBA Planning Calendar.
Connecting on ECC or CRM backends, we can then plan automatic backups.
But for Portal I dont' find how to use a calendar for automatic backups.
I saw that in DB13, you can select the system you want to backup. Would it be possible to add the Portal and to manage all systems, including portal, in on single backend point? If yes, how can I add portal system / db to this DB13 menu?
If not, do you know if there is any other way to have automatic backups of NW Portal? Or any external tool we can use for doing this?
Thank you in advance for your help,
    Xavier Monnet.

You can put any database in DBACOCKPIT and schedule centrally using DB13C.
    > If not, do you know if there is any other way to have automatic backups of NW Portal? Or any external tool we can use for doing this?
For bigger production environments I'd suggest getting an external backup too and schedule everything centrally.
Be aware that especially in a Java environment (such as a portal) it's not enough to just backup the database, you have to backup the filesystem content at the same time to be able to restore your system in case of a failure. If you have just the database backup this won't help.

  • Problems with Pcd Content after restore EP Portal with online Backup

    Dear Colleagues,
We have problems to show Pcd Content (Browse and Search) of the Content Administration tab of the EP Portal after restore with a online Backup during Disaster Recovery Test.
Restore has become on a mirror system of Production environment. Ours EP Portal is a cluster system with the following configuration:
    Production landscape:
    Node 1
Disk K:\ SAP SCS directory. (Clustered)
Disk E:\ SAP Central Instance directory (Local)
    Node 2
Disk E:\ SAP Dialogue Instance directory (Local)
    Disk M:\ SQL Datafiles. (Clustered)
    Disk L:\ SQL Logfiles. (Clustered)
    Disaster Recovery landscape:
    Only a Node
Disk K:\ SAP SCS directory. (Clustered)
Disk E:\ SAP Central Instance directory (Local)
    Disk M:\ SQL Datafiles
    Disk L:\ SQL Logfiles
    Portal Version
    J2EE Engine = 6.40 PatchLevel 105424.313
    Portal = 6.0.18.0.0
After restore, the data base as the SAP application starts
correctly but when logon in the Portal, the Pcd Content of Content Administration tab
and to other tabs with similar information is not shown.
After restore it can be necessary to reactivate some type of configuration, links, etc?, for this type of restore is better to make a backup offline instead of online one?
We are thankful for any information on the matter.
    Thanks,
    Regards.
    Rafa R.R.

The issue was solved with a offline backup.

The only way to backup Portal is to do a cold backup of your
